I specifically chose this cleaner because it's a green cleaner. I was very excited to see that they have reusable bags instead of the disposable plastic bags...however, I thought it came standard and didn't realize I had to specifically request it until I came into pick up my clothes and saw that they were in plastic. I would have gladly paid the $10 deposit for the reusable bag if they had offered it to me. When I dropped off my clothes, the man looked through them and noted that one skirt was pleated. So, he charged me $10.95 for that skirt instead of $5.95. I was a little surprised since no other cleaner has ever charged me extra for pleats before, but I assumed it would come out with wonderfully crisp pleats. But, no. They didn't press the pleats at all. It came back just about how it had gone in. Why did they charge me an extra $5???? Also, my boyfriend dropped off a bunch of shirts to be cleaned. He has them cleaned all the time and says they are usually $1.50 - $1.75 each at every other cleaner. However, at this place they told him that most of the shirts needed to be "laundered" rather than "dry cleaned" -- at a cost of $6 per shirt instead of $1.75! They never explained the difference, but insisted this is how it needed to be done. Due to all of this over charging (and being less "green" than I had expected, I don't think either of us will be returning to the Wallingford Cleaners...there are plenty of other cleaners around who won't charge more for the same level of service. read more

I came here because I was looking for a green dry cleaners alternative and I'm so glad I did. I slipped in at 4:59pm on Saturday. I thought it closed at 6 but I was the jerk who showed up one minute to closing. However, the man opened the door for me and was so helpful and nice. I took 3 winter jackets in and they told me it would be available in 6 days. I ended up getting too busy and didn't come back for about 2 weeks. I didn't have my ticket but they didn't mind and again were so friendly, helpful and kind. They always had a smile and helpful attitude! My jackets were waiting for me in the front since I had called an hour earlier. The short jacket cost $15 and the two longer coats cost $20 each. I felt this was fair for green, chemical-free dry cleaning. I've been wearing my jackets ever since I got them back and they feel nice and clean and are in excellent condition. I'll definitely be back for my future dry cleaning needs! read more

Gosh, this is two bad dry-cleaning experiences in a row, but first in Seattle and this is my 2nd time living here. However, first other neighborhood place farther away. No 2nd chance for this place. Went somewhere else this weekend with 2 suit pants and a suit jacket. Turns out there's a good, not more expensive, dry cleaner on Fremont that has a higher rating than I saw because there are multiple yelp pages for the shop and 1 page with just a couple reviews comes up as a lower rating. 1. They send back in bags you can't see thru, so if say your go with the flow spouse picks up and doesn't go to effort to look inside you can't tell what you're getting back. Petro based products are used in a lot more products than you think. Their "green" bag undoubtedly used more resources than the barely-there plastic bags and it's not like that many people are reusing them - only to use more resources to remainder them. 2. About $16 for a lightweight pair of women's wool suit pants and a long-sleeved dressy shirt (but nothing special for a top - was just from Ann Taylor). 3. The brand new lace and silk top came back with a noticeable fabric snag. Fortunately using scissors took it off without further damage. 4. My suit pants came pinned to a hanger hung out side of waist to side of waist the long way. Instead of down the dry-clean line that falls down the mid thighs to center of knee all the way down to center of ankle. 5. Because the pants were hung out with the press line unfolded, it didn't hold the press line. 6. This also caused the fabric not to drape right and caused a huge amount of extra wrinkling. 7. By the end of the day I was embarrassed to have on these high quality, lined, suit pants. read more

I'm really surprised by the negative reviews here. I drop shirts and 1-2 articles at the cleaners about every 2 weeks, and have used probably a dozen cleaners over the years. Wallingford Dry Cleaners is by far the best. Super friendly and personable. After the 3rd or 4th visit, I've never had to give them my phone number; they just hand me my order as promised. The first time I used them, small shirt stains that had been present for years disappeared. Greener chemicals, reusable bags, I even bring my own bag which they are happy to use. They take back all used hangers without a fuss. Fast turnaround, including overnight if I ask, without charging extra. Everyone knows you need to remove your collar stays before taking your cleaning in, so I haven't had any problems with melts, stains, or lost stays. I've never used them for alterations, although I have seen them replace missing or cracked buttons at no charge without even being asked. Kwan is very clear that they only do very minor alterations (Sun Cleaners down the street does amazing, though pricey, alterations). Yes, it costs a *little* bit more, but not enough to really factor into your dry cleaning decision. I love this place and recommend them to everyone. read more

I went to this dry cleaner because all the Yelp reviews for it were good, but I had a crappy experience. The worst part about my experience was dry cleaning a jacket there and not getting it back for three weeks! I had to go back three times before it was ready. There was always an excuse, "oops, we forgot to sew back the hem", "oops, I forgot to send it", "oops, we're closed for remodeling". What?! I have to pay how much for this terrible service? Can not say enough good about this dry cleaner -- we are regular customers, so we get the ease of a drop-box after hours when we need it, and I like that they use reusable bags for the clothes and our clothes have always been well cleaned and well pressed and the service is prompt. But tonight takes the cake - husband was about to leave town on an early morning trip and desperately needed his pressed shirts, but was running late. I called right at closing and Kwan kindly agreed to stay an extra minute or two, then when I pulled up with my shoeless toddler in the backseat of the car, he ran right out with our clothes, receipt already tucked in the pocket of the cover, smile on his face. I'm not much of a savvy drycleaning consumer, so I chose this place from Yelp. They haven't let me down. The clothes always come back looking good and at the time they say. I've brought them silk, cashmere, wool, and they've handled it all beautifully. They're always friendly and helpful at the counter. They don't use a ton of chemicals, and give me back my stuff in reusable bags. All that, and the prices seem pretty low. Keepers to me! read more

I got some pants hemmed here recently and they did a great job. I do wish that they were a little bit less expensive but i think that is just Seattle as a whole being on the pricy side. I have been doing my weekly dry cleaning here since moving to town and they are always on time, quick with help on a busy morning, and friendly. I give them a 3 for quality. Its average and there is nothing special. Ive been dry cleaning for over 10 years and typically have a decent relationship because I spend so much time there... There is a guy about 5 minutes away near Rivena that does just as good but offers a 15% discount on anything over $100. I mentioned this to them and they wouldn't match. I spend $100 + a month. What a great experience! I was referred to this cleaners by the bridal shop where I bought my wedding gown and I was not let down. I needed my gown cleaned quickly since my wedding is coming up in a couple weeks and while they said it would take a week, I got a call within two days saying they were finished. These guys are wizards of fabric magic as far as I'm concerned. I had a sharpie permanent marker explode in my pocket, creating a big ugly patch of dark ink down the leg of my light grey suit pants. The fabric was soaked. I was ready to call it quits and just dye the pants black in a last-ditch effort to make them usable at least. Fortunately, I took the whole suit to Wallingford Dry Cleaners first. When I showed them the pants they immediately went to work on them. When I came back to pick up the suit the pants looked like new! My light grey suit lives on! read more

This is my specialty dry cleaner. I have an Indian style blouse which is covered in small beading. I couldn't find an Indian Sari dry cleaner up here in WA. I went to Wallingford. They would promise the safety of this piece b/c of the beading but they said they would do their best. It's come back fine 3 times. When I have a really weird stain, that won't come out, they get it out. They're a bit pricey, but when they resurrect my clothes, its worth it. read more
