I had originally gone to this place because of green dry cleaning and have been going here for the past couple years. They had done a fine job about a handful of times for cleaning other items (eg, Reformation dress and blouse, wool sweater) that I brought in for cleaning prior so that's why I give them 1 star. This most recent time I brought in 4 items (2 for repair and 2 for cleaning). They have let me down on multiple levels due to ruining 2 items, charging me for cleaning that I didn't ask for nor was informed of, and not having a way for these issues to be resolved in a timely or convenient way. Specific facts follow for these issues next. I have also included photos. First, they pilled all over an entire and brand new Reformation dress that I had only worn once and which was not pilled at all when brought in. The rep explained that pilling can happen in the dry clean process, depends on the brand and fabric composition, that they followed dry clean instructions, that they cannot fix the pilling, and did not have the ability to refund me. I had previously brought a different reformation dress in red of the same fabric composition (see pic), which had been cleaned and only showed very slight to no pilling, which suggests to me user error that warrants a refund (I would think they wouldn't refund me $225 for what I paid for the dress, but at the very least the cleaning fee that resulted in pilling the item entirely leaving it to look much much older and used). Second, I was informed that they had "rejected" to repair a zipper on a small pouch I brought in. The rep informed me that the seamstress may have declined to repair the pouch due to fabric issues. This is fine and possibly reasonable, but, they also returned the pouch damaged. Specifically, beyond the zipper not working, the seems are now detached and unraveling. I'm not sure why the seamstress didn't repair it back to the way it was in its original condition? Third, they repaired velcro on a Patagonia jacket, which I asked for. However, upon pick-up, I was charged $20 for cleaning it. I had not asked for this. They rep informed me that it is their policy "to clean all items for alterations due to COVID" and apologized for not having told me this when I dropped the items off; however, again she was not able to refund me for this mistake. Lastly, the rep told me that I could call back in the mornings to speak to the manager about refunds. I am traveling out of the country and have a work schedule that doesn't really allow for time flexibility for things like this. So, this additional step creates a burden on me as a customer. I hope that in the future that they can train reps to make reasonable decisions about when refunds are warranted and to be able to provide this to the customer without additional burden, inconvenience, and disappointment placed on the customer. Unfortunately, they have lost my trust and I will not be returning to this business. This saddens me because I had previously been very happy with the cleaning I had received up to this point and really do appreciate their using green practices. It's too bad it didn't work out but I don't want to support a business that charges me for things I didn't ask for, ruins my items, and can't give me refunds without my doing additional legwork at hours I'm not free even though they made mistakes. read more

I came here to get my wedding dresses cleaned after I went to 2 other places that quoted me much higher prices. Here are the prices I paid: Silk cheongsam - $18.95 Linen Jacket - $9 Ballgown wedding dress - $145 cleaning and press, veil included Beaded evening gown - $34.95 The owner is meticulous about getting any stains out and everything looked spotless to my eyes. I was quite impressed since my wedding dresses were exposed to grass and dirt at my venue. He is not the fastest though, it took about a month to get my wedding dresses back so I would allot a big chunk of time. I went there two times and the promised items were not ready by the date they quoted me, which wasted my time and gas money. I would call ahead to make sure everything is ready for pickup. Both my wedding dresses were successfully consigned which is why I was dry cleaning them so I am a happy customer! read more

If I could give this place negative stars I would. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!!! I highly recommend reading all the negative reviews. I've been a customer at Jay's dry cleaners for the past three years. I never write negative reviews however, due to recent events with the rude owner having a condescending tone, I could not let this go. They've damaged not one or two but THREE different items with the owner having no intention of paying for repairs and blaming it on manufacture issues. 1 moncler down jacket + 1 prada down vest (only dry cleaned once) both had the drawstring ripped and disconnected. 1 Burberry hoodie came back with missing piece on the drawstring It seems like the owner has a history/pattern on blaming the manufacturer to avoid paying for repairs. I think it's ridiculous, I would understand if it was a single item, but three different clothes seems a bit suspicious; lacking quality control. When I called the business he stated "Why should I pay for the damages, I'm not paying" Nor was I offered a refund, store credit, or any other option. Young should take a class on customer service. In the end I had to take my clothes for repairs, costing me a couple hundred dollars. If you want your clothes to be damaged and horrible customer service go to Jay's Dry Cleaners. Worst experience ever! These reviews must be fake! So, I looked at all the ratings for a good dry cleaners and this one popped up. Just before my vacation brought about 12-13 pieces for dry cleaning. They said that it would take a week...that's fine...kind story short, picked them up, and no word about any issues. I arrive home and I see in 4 garments that there are post-it notes on them. "Color bleeds, incorrect tags, return to retailer for refund", and that in all all 4 different garments. Mind you these items have been dry cleaned about 10 times with no issues. Disgraceful! Scarf prices aren't listed but I would assume it would be the same amount as a sweater. I was WAY over charged. About $50. That's ridiculous. I brought an old wool blend coat and an alpaca one that have been sitting in my car trunk for a looooong while, as well as a new white coat and a duvet that were stained with my kitty's vomit. Some new food, unfortunately didn't sit well with his sensitive tummy. I am glad I came to Jay's. All the items came back as brand new and no weird smell whatsoever! I was thrilled. And so I later brought a winter vest and a jacket recently bought and that had never being cleaned. The jacket had a tiny bit of food stain. Again all came back as brand new and no odor at all! Most of these are pretty expensive clothing that I waited patiently to snatch on sale. I am a curvy girl and not all brands fit me well. The few brands that fit me happen to be expensive. I can't even afford them at normal retail price. Very glad and relieved to see them back so fine. Pricing is reasonable I feel. No unpleasant surprises. Jay's my favorite dry cleaner now. There are many dry cleaners. But there's also quite a few horror stories out there. So I meticulously do my search when it comes to dry cleaning. I don't just stop by the nearest to my place. This is my first time getting clothes professionally altered (well, second) but I gave them a few challenges and spent barely any time telling them what I needed done and they did everything absolutely perfect! I went in early to mid May and just picked them up today. I hardly ever even write Yelp reviews I'm just really excited! They replaced a zipper for me and gave me a matching toned one, hemmed my LACE shirt perfect, and clipped some structuring in a tank top that was digging into my armpits. Couldn't have been better! I trusted this business with my WEDDING DRESS , big mistake . It's now ruined. Upon picking up my dress it looked ok but smelled a little weird . 3 months after taking my dress home from the cleaners it has HORRIBLE yellow spotting all over . My dress was near perfect when I picked it up. I followed all directions and my dress stayed in the dress bag in my closet with the rest of my clothes . I don't have a huge closet , none of my other clothes were damaged . The bag my dress is in is in flawless condition . YET MY DRESS IS RUINED. I have a comforter that has camel hair inside of it which no other dry cleaner would touch. Nobody seemed to know how to clean it. The owner went out of his way to do research and then came back to me wIth a few options. He was crystal clear about my options and the risks involved with cleaning the comforter. The owners of Jay's Dry Cleaners are basically... horrible. I had to take my issue to BBB after repeatedly trying to get in contact w/ someone at the Montlake location, only to be told that I was trying going to "extreme measure to ruin a family-run business" which is unbelievable, considering I spent nearly $200 on dry cleaning in their store in one visit - money that I'm sure any other dry cleaning business would have been happy to have. Anyhow, I took 19 items into the store for cleaning. I was charged $199.06. When I got home, I looked at the receipt and realized i had been charged incorrectly. Not only was I charged for prices higher than the list on their website (https://www.jayscleaners.com/pricing), but I was also charged for cleaning of the WRONG type of items (like being charged $14+ for a dress, instead of $7 for what they were -- shorts, which are, last time I checked, just like trousers, with less leg fabric). The mistakes in charges equalled an overcharge of $18.73. I live far away from the cleaners so I immediately tried calling the store but the woman working told me I had to "speak with the manager between 7am - 11am." She told me to "call back tomorrow." I did, and they were closed...because it was, oh wait...a Sunday. Over 10 days, I called the establishment 6 times during that window and the manager was never there according to the same woman who always answered, so she refused to help me. She would ask my name and then hang up on me. I also tried emailing the address on their website twice, but never got a response. Nothing in their terms of service (https://www.jayscleaners.com/terms-of-service) or pricing sheet says pricing is subject to change. Therefore the advertised pricing should have been honored. Finally, I took the issue to BBB. Julie Choung's, the owner, response was amazing. First, she accused me of not calling (which is 100% wrong if you look at my phone records). Then, she accused me of being confused about the garments. She told me I needed to bring all 19 items back into the store w/ my receipt so they could look at them because they were probably stained. Nope. They were 100% perfect, just needed to be cleaned. I am anal as $%&# and knew exactly the condition they went in looking like. Then, she told me that the woman I spoke with every time never would have asked me to call for a manager because "We do not have a manager since we are a small family owned business." Okay, sooooo how about an owner returns my emails or calls then? Even better! So, according to this establishment, the only way for me to be reimbursed is to bring my 19 garments (7 of which are long dresses) which are beautifully cleaned and pressed and no longer in plastic, back to the store, so they can compare them to the receipt. (She refused to look at photos.) This adventure happens to be a 40 minute round trip drive on a good day. And then I am supposed to trust that an actual owner will be anywhere to be found, which is like asking for a G.D.Unicorn -- otherwise I get to deal with the same woman who can't take a message to save her life, and refused to help me any time I called. They'e been so shady through this whole thing their likely to accuse me of bringing in the wrong clothes. (Not to mention, the non-helpful woman didn't even use the right colors on the receipt to identify my clothes, which gives them more room to accuse me of doing something I didn't do). You can keep my $19. I'm sure there are plenty of other dry cleaning companies in Seattle that would be happy to take my giant pile of clothes and not rip me off in the process. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Response to Jay's Dry Cleaners: I have had all of those clothes cleaned a number of times at other locations. These are BASIC garments. The biggest error in your over-charge is that you charged me for the WRONG items. Your employee made mistakes, and you need to stop trying to twist this into something it isn't. No stains. No complicated fabrics. No weird folds, pleats, etc. BASIC ties, pants, blazers, dresses, etc. Your employee screwed up, and instead of offering to refund me the money you took from me (or even TRYING to talk about this on the phone), when I spent that much money in your business, is shameful and deceitful customer service. So I will never set foot in your business again, and will highly encourage others to proceed with caution. read more

Big fan of this place-its definitely a hidden gem. Called around to find ladies suit jacket prices for dry cleaning, and I was quoted $10-$12 by 5 other locations nearby. When I called jay's, they were friendly friendly on the phone. She quoted me $7 per jacket, and I figured what a steal! The turnaround time was 2 days to make sure fully dry cleaned, pressed, and any stains to be cleaned and to identify any areas that needed to be sewed. Additionally, when I came to pick up, they found the bottom of one jacket needed the seam to be sewed, and quoted me $9 on the spot to be done in a couple of days. Thanks for looking out! I only usually leave reviews for really great or really poor experiences. I was excited to try this cleaners after reading reviews and was really surprised/disappointed at the experience I had. I walked in and was the only person in the store. After looking at my items, I asked if she could share starting prices (I've been surprised at dry cleaner final bills before and like to at least know starting price the first time I go to a dry cleaner). She could not tell me starting prices and directed me to their website- so while I was the only person in the store, I had to take my phone out and try and decipher starting price on their website while standing across from saleswoman at the counter. When I asked for clarification on whether an item I brought in was considered a jacket from their pricing list online, she told me it would "probably be considered a coat". There was no starting pricing listed on the website for coats. At that point I was tired trying to find answers to questions that the store could not. I kindly asked for my clothes back and politely let her know that I was going to go elsewhere. I was told I could come back in the mornings as the owner is in and could answer my type of questions. To the owner- some constructive feedback: think about training and equipping your salespeople with basic information and to be helpful to your customers as they are extensions of your store. Or consider having a physical starting pricing list that lives outside of your website that customers can reference when asking at your store. I'm all for paying for quality dry cleaning but it was the lack of helpfulness (which not sure it's the sale woman's fault or it is a lack of training) that caused me to ask for my clothes back. I can not say enougg about this place. In typical Seattle fashion my old dry cleaners clise because they are leveling the building to put up "luxury apartments", leaving me to find a new cleaners. Dry cleaners are usually all the same as far as i am concerned some average and some below average. Jay's is better than all of the cleaners that i have been to in Seattle. Here is why: Parking: With a cleaners you want to be able to get in and out as quickly as possible. Not only is there a full parking lot next to the store but therr is also an express parking lot where you can park right next to the door. Delivery: These guys will pick up and drop off your clothese for free. I dont use delivery service but it is a great thing to have, especially for those people withlut cars. Service: I spoke with the owner and he gave me some advice on gettinf rid of moths and overall care of clothes. He was as friendly as can be and when i dropped off my clothes i was happy to learn that the turnaround time on your clothes is only 2 days. Price: Even with delivery and the quick turn around the prices are the same as all other dry cleaners in the area (and even cheaper than some i have visited). Overall great service, free delivery goes above and beyond what i would expect, reasonable prices and the ability to get in and out quickly. This is easily a 5 star review. read more

I have been meaning to write a review for the last several months, but it wasn't until after our wedding this past weekend, that I decided I needed to. Friendly, fast service with no nonsense. A suit jacket and pants plus a winter coat ran around $25, and all garments were perfectly clean and neatly pressed. The best part? I'd forgotten that my winter coat even had a zipper because it'd been broken for a few years, and I'd gotten by with the buttons. I have a beloved expensive dress that was stained with gravy several years back. Because I'm a spacey and the dress was colored similarly and with gauzy, somewhat transparent material, it was honestly hard to notice for MONTHS initially. By the time I noticed, I felt pretty frustrated and concerned that the stain wouldn't come out. Plus I had no occasion to wear it anytime soon, I worried that the bill would be excessive, and I didn't want to make a trip to the dry cleaners. I was avoidant, needless to say. Fast forward to 5 years later (and probably having matured slightly in all things "adulting"), I spotted this old, beloved dress with the annoying old gravy stain and thought I'd finally take it in for dry cleaning, thinking it would likely be unfix-able or expensive. I took it into Jay's for the first time, and the service was friendly, confident, and professional. Two days later, I picked up this dress and the stain was pretty much gone. The material is very sensitive, so they explained to me that if they aimed to completely remove it it would damage the material, so the stain was somewhat visible. Honestly, when I gave it a good look I couldn't really see the stain. It was practically gone and I had to stare at it like a Magic Eye image in order to even see it. Wow, Jay's Cleaners is great! I found them through Yelp so felt it only right that I go back and write my own review. Not only is the guy who runs it incredibly friendly, but they are quick and reasonably priced! I took in 3 dresses, 2 winter coats, 3 blazers, 2 heavy sweaters, a shirt and a pair of pants (12 items) and my total was $112. Everything was done within two days. Pretty decent in my book! They have a rewards program too -- if you sign up online you get an automatic 200pts which equals 20% off. Then for every dollar you spend you earn a point. Usually I'd hop from place to place using coupons, but Jay's is going to keep my business due to their great customer service! (Oh, and all my garments turned out perfectly. Well, I would never have thought I may one day rate a dry cleaner five starts, but Jay's Cleaner have totally gotten me convinced. Hands down the best dry cleaning service in the Roosevelt/UD neighborhoods, maybe even the whole Seattle area. Below are a few details on which Jay's really stands out: First, extremely friendly and fast service: the second I stepped into the door, I was immediately welcomed by the owner, a really pleasant fellow. After a little chitchat and ensuring I am aware of the online reward point program, He took my laundry and printed out a receipt right away, and informed me it should be done by 4pm the day after next. The whole process took me about 5 minutes, and it was the same swift service that I got when I came to pick up my laundry. Second, Jay's surely knows how to get your laundry clean: I had one pair of banana republic wool pants, one Ralph Lauren wool sweater, and one wool blend winter coat. All all of them came out like brand new. Actually, the last item, the winter coat I got on sale at Ross with the lining all wrinkled, came out better than new. They just look great and they don't have any detergent smell on them. In fact, the whole store looks extremely clean and orderly. Third, best price in town: (before tax) pants $5.50, sweater $5.00, and coat (short) $10.00, exactly the same as advertised on Jay's price list on their website. And to make the deal even better, if you sign up for an account online you will automatically get 200 bonus point, which can be used to exchange for up to 20% discount. What a steal! Last, convenient location: Jay's cleaner is actually just a few blocks down the road from the Roosevelt Square and for me it was about a five minute's walk from Whole Foods to Jay's. There is a parking lot at the back and a bus stop just a few steps away from its front door (#76?). I actually live on the Ave, where dry cleaners are either terribly over-priced or terrible in the services provided, so Jay's is really a godsend for me. Highly recommended! read more

I came here back in August to have a dress hemmed for a wedding. The service was prompt and VERY reasonably priced. I came back two weeks later and had a few items dry cleaned; one dress had a couple stains that didn't come out the first time so they re-did (without me asking) and didn't charge for it. They have a nice referral incentive program and you can accumulate "points" towards a discount when you get stuff done there. Quite simply the best. Dry cleaning is well done and their alterations are impeccable. I bring all of my dresses here for alteration to get them customized. A little wider in the ribcage, slower the slit, repair a tear, patch my jeans, take in a pair of slacks in, etc. Vickie is Seattle's BEST alterationist. Prices are reasonable, service is quick and very friendly. They're responsive and go the extra mile. I called Jay's Dry Cleaners THREE times to get an appointment for an alteration. The first time, I left a message. It was on Memorial Day so I said, OK, I'll try again. I called again and spoke with a young lady whose response to my saying I haven't gotten a call back was, "were you expecting a call back?" She said she'd get the manager to call me back.... it never happened. I only tried a third time because a friend of mine highly recommended the place. Needless to say, it was a waste of my time. I took my business to Queen Anne Alterations, which is the BEST! Not only did they pick up the phone, but they scheduled me in for an appointment within the next two days! They did an excellent job on my sport coat and nice slacks that had a bit of mold on them from my damp Seattle apartment. Mold's a bit tricky to get rid of I hear and they did it expertly, and at a reasonable price. The person who helped me, however, was difficult to deal with. It was my first time at a dry cleaner and so I had a couple simple questions ("Can you get rid of mold?" "How much will this cost?") that I got a lot of attitude for asking, and I almost paid an absurd $25 for getting a sleeping bag cleaned (I did it by hand in 10 minutes) because the employee was rushing me through the process even though there were no other customers. read more
