That is definetley the case with this location of IHG properties. This chain is consistenly solid over the years so I wasn't expecting anything less than what we had. They in the midst of a renovation, but around a bit of dust here, anda paint splash there, it was still clean (much cleaner than a previous place in Wilmington). The staffer that checked us in was pleasant and efficient. Our beds were comfortable, lots of pillows. We had a little problem with the shower the first night (operator error, or rather we didn't know the trick for a janky tub/shower valve). We called and they sent someone within about 5 minutes. [It was one of the maids that had experience with our room, a sweet soul, very pleasant...I do have to ask though, how many tattoos are too many tattoos]. The breakfast was pretty well put out, two hot protiens each day, eggs, potato options, oatmeal, cereal, pancake machine, etc. Even the most finicky kid would not walk away hungry unless they wanted to, for whatever reason it is that finicky kids do things. The hot tub worked, good temperature, pool was nice, neither had too much chlorine. While you didn't have to walk through the lobby (like some hotels- why designers, why?) there was a giant window from the front lobby/breakfast area to the pool area. My wife was a bit off put by that. I guess you would feel a bit like a fish in the aquarium if someone was there looking in. Definiteley a good stay, nothing is cheap anymore, so $346 for two nights in a non capitol city in Ohio might feel steep, but hey that's what the market will bear, so all good that's good. We would come back if in the area.

They had shampoo, conditioner and liquid soap in the shower. They only make up your room every other day. There were fresh baked chocolate chip cookies available in the afternoon. There was plenty of parking. They had a breakfast offering with waffles with all the toppings. Also, pre-made omelets, sausage and potatoes. There were muffins, scones, bananas and apples, cereal, grits, milk and coffee. The check-out was easy. I recommend this hotel.

When we arrived we saw a beautiful property, had exceptional customer service and check in, the room was unique and huge, and also very clean. The on site amenities were great, the landscaping and theming was emasculate, and the on site restaurant had delicious food for each meal. Several weddings happened on site while we were there and all of that looked very intimate and special for them. The pool complex was very nice and clean. Carolyn at the bar made me an excellent martini with her own bleu cheese stuffed olives. I had the hummus platter which is enough for 2 or more people. Breakfast consists of continental for $7.95 which includes pastries, fruits, cereal and juices. They also offer hot breakfast consisting of eggs and breakfast meats. Plenty of parking available. The Wifi is easy to connect to and quite fast.

We chose Hilton because I am a Hilton Honors member and typically enjoy staying with Hilton. I had selected a digital key option and reported my time of arrival. I was driving 6.5 hours with young children, so I was hoping to be able to get them settled in right away. About an hour before arrival I still hadn't gotten our digital key (this was after our stated time of arrival because kids made more rest stops than I planned). I called and asked if the room was ready or if there were problems with the digital key. They told me that the room wasn't cleaned yet and I would get the key when it was, but assured me the room would be clean when I get there. It wasn't. We had to ask them to switch rooms and waited for the room to be ready. The room was large, but not necessarily clean. It had a weird smell, but after a long drive, I was not trying to switch rooms again. I figured they would get it cleaned during room service time the next morning. We had dinner in the lobby. The food was acceptable and reasonably priced. The drinks were strong (always a good thing). The waitress was super nice. The kids swam in the pool. The pool was clean and the kids enjoyed it. The next morning we leave for the show at 7 am. We do not arrive back to the hotel until after 6:00 pm. We arrive to the room to find the room has not been cleaned at all. They did not take out any trash. Did not replace any used towels or hand soaps. Room still smells weird. In the elevator is now a tipped over Lysol wipes dispenser. That is currently still in the elevator. I am not sure how people are expected to fit carts in the elevator to bring down their bags and luggage. When I called the front desk to ask about the cleaning and to get new towels, the lady at the desk said "you can come get the towels if you want at the front desk. We had a lot of check-outs yesterday so we probably just never got around to cleaning your room" um what? For $150 per night and 11 hours out of the room, you'd think that tidying the room would be included. They don't have anyone to bring the towels up either? Weird. So I left my children in the room alone, and went to get the towels. They would only give me 1 set of towel I guess we're all supposed to share. Overall, the stay worked. We had somewhere to sleep and eat. I wouldn't say it was a great experience. It definitely wasn't the typical experience I have had with Hilton. Next time we're out here for the Wooster show, we will stay somewhere else

It is the personal home of Dave Longaberger from the Longaberger basket company. My BF's mom was a star seller of these baskets once upon a time so he is very familiar! I booked the fanciest room--The Dresden Suite! High ceilinged, king sized 4-poster bed, fireplace, sitting and desk area, small hallway with back access and a big jetted tub in the middle of the room. Features are great but the building, rooms, carpeting, furniture are quite old and worn. I think due to the age of the building and the lack of staff, the entire place did not feel very clean. Our room was tidy when we checked in but upon closer inspection, corners were dusty, papers and brochures were water stained, carpet was stained in places and peeling. This might have been an oversight but the bathroom didn't have shampoo or body wash stocked. There was liquid hand soap but my BF swears it was watered down and not quite effective. During our 1-night stay here, we only saw one person the whole time working and it was also the owner, Joy. She embodies her name as she warmly pads around suggesting we look around and offered to show us 2 additional rooms, which was fun. We didn't opt for the 4-course dinner that she cooks personally from scratch. It was $100 or something and includes a bottle of wine which would've been wasted since neither of us drink. We went out for dinner but upon getting back to the inn, Joy prepared a dessert for us--so cute! We got a small chocolate lava cake with a scoop of ice cream and a strawberry each! The room was stifling and we were unable to adjust the temperature too much. It was freezing outside yet we had to have the A/C on because of how hot it was in the room. We borrowed 2 of their many DVDs and put it on the background while we intensely played a board game. The next morning, Joy made us a delicious light breakfast. We headed out to the nearby abandoned Longaberger retail ghost town. Oh, and Joy's dog Chewbacca is adorable. She could definitely use a bath and grooming session but she was so friendly!

The shower gets warm but not hot. Was told this is due to the way the shower was installed and they need someone to fix the renovations. Finally the breakfast is lackluster, and most of the time the coffee is empty. They have lots of room for improvements.

If I've had issue with something (because it is an older hotel waiting for a facelift) the staff has been amazing and fixed whatever the issue was. You can have the nicest, newest hotel and if the staff is like talking to a lazy, rude paper weight who is not helpful it ruins the whole experience. No matter what changes in the hotel keep the staff. Give them a raise and tell them how amazing they are doing because without them you'd just be another chain hotel no one remembers or cares to come back too when in your area. Being away from home for so long is tough, but friendly faces whenever you leave your room I great. No one wants to talk to "Karen" who can't be bothered cuz it's not her problem. I was able to do my laundry there even in the dated machines. Success. Clothes went in dirty and came our clean. Cooked in the microwave from 1996 and it tasted just as good. Questioned if it was going to explode or give me a tumor from radioactive waves by the sound of it... but so far so good. Large well lit parking lot for safety for you & your vehicle so you don't have to worry about getting lost in the darkness. McDonalds right across the street if your 1996 microwave can't cut it and you become really desperate. Warm breakfast each morning. Some kind of meat (sausage, bacon etc) eggs. There has been other thing also. Ice is only on the second floor but let's face it, I'm sure you could use the steps. (Like health wise... elevator works fine). Venting machine on the first floor for all your usual overpriced last minutes impulse snack needs like all hotels. I had a room with a jacuzzi tub that yes was dated and warm. Tub is warm & HUGE! I could fit me and 3 of my favorite Guns & Roses band members in it. I didn't try the jets but it rocked all the same.
