I'm not stopping by here too often to rent things, maybe about two times a year for work related events. The staff here is always very nice, and accommodating. They load things up in my car, they give me advice and tips on weird equipment I have rented, and will sometimes let me keep things and extra day out of convenience. I'm really glad they're here in Pittsburgh, it makes it very convenient for me to stop by and rent things. The guys who work here are very polite as well, and I appreciate their help and expertise with their equipment! If you're looking to rent garden equipment, or Party supplies. Just recently Rented small 11 Amp generator on a Sunday. Called in and they told me it was first come first serve. Made it in at 1230pm 4 hour rental is $45, 5 hr $55. What they did was charge a $130 deposit. I had to return on Mon at 1230 but completely spaced it due to one thing after another, I should have called but didn't and boy did I pay for it. I returned it just before the store closed at 5 and even spoke to the manager but he did not care what I went through that day and just said we can't do Anything. It took 3 days for my deposit to return and I only rcvd $25 out of $130. Not to happy about that and not to happy with the managers response and demeanor It was my first time using ths place on a Rec from Ace but after this I will prob just purchase a Power generator on Amazon for $199 instead! read more

Hello, My mother rents from this company every year and this HALLOWEEN 2021 when we once again rented a Cotton candy machine and unfortunately this one didn't work. We do this so the kids in our neighborhood can get some fluffy goodness and when it didn't work we were very sad but we figured we got a bad machine. So when we called the owner stated that "it was because of the moisture in the air" So BE AWARE DUE TO MOISTURE IN THE AIR FROM OCTOBER-JANUARY ITS NOT A GOOD TIME TO RENT. One star because they have been the company i have been using for years for our event. Unfortunately, I won't go back to them because since covid they raised their price so much but I paid less attention. Yesterday, I asked for a quote for one 20x20 tent and a one 16x12 stage which is something I have been renting from them every year except 2020 and 2021 because of covid. I received a quote it was $2900.00 for one tent and a stage for one-day event. I questioned the tent because this time they charged me $800; the guy put me on hold and came back and said it was the wrong price they will send me a new quote. They sent me another quote which was $2500. I was ready to pay the total amount for my order, and the man on the phone said oh, you need to pay $300 more for setting up the stage. I asked him why, when they already charged me $580 for a setup. He said that the fee is for the tent set up only. I asked why $580 seems so expensive, and he said, " oh, thats for 6 hours set up. I asked him to wait on the phone, I looked on my invoice two years ago when I ordered three 20x20 tents, tables and chairs and no stage. They charged me $120 for 2 hours of setup. I returned to the phone and asked why you charged me $580 for setting up one tent. And he said oh because it will take 3 hours to put up and 3 hours taking it down. The guy I talked to was not happy when I told him that doesn't make sense that they charge a $580 set up fee for one tent, and when they set up 3 20x20 tents last two years, it was $120 for 2 hours. And now they want to add $300 more to set up the stage. So they want to charge me $880 for setting up the stage and one tent. He told me they must keep up with their competitors, so I told him I should reach out to them because this is ridiculous overprized. I hung up the phone, and I called Gnagon Rental in Lafayette/walnut creek, and they gave me a quote of $1155 for the same exact order I got a quote from Wallys; that amount includes the setup and delivery. I hope clients pay attention to their quotes because I almost fell for this. It is so sad that they take advantage of their clients that way. You won't believe how much they nickel and dime you. If you are looking for a rental, consider getting two or three quotes from different places before you make your final decision. The other thing about Wally is that once you book, you are nonrefundable, and they want the whole amount up front. So goodbye to Wally forever! read more

We have used them several times for items to remodel our building. We have also used them for private party rentals. So in short we have spent a lot of money here. The customer service is not there at all. You will get better customer service from a funeral home. They dont even hardly make eye contact with you. They seem pissed off that you come in and are disturbing them. Why did I keep using them I guess is because it was better then to drive to the concord location. But after our last rental we will never use them again. We returned some items late and were charged for it. No big deal we should of have brought them back on time. But the problem is that they called every hour for three days until I was able to make it back in the store to pay them. And let me say it was less then $35 owed. Here is my husband's experience today when he tried to rent a mini excavator for a job: He reserved a very small excavator for a tight residential dig site and confirmed price and availability. When he arrived, the unit that they had promised him was unavailable and they the unit that they tried to force on him was too big and too heavy for the job... Can you say Bait and Switch?? My guy - "This is too large for the site and is so heavy it will break the sidewalk. I can't use it". Wally's guy - "Oh, it should be fine and it might not crack the sidewalk" My guy - "It's also too heavy to tow with this van safely" Wally's guy - "It will probably be ok" Really Dude? You covering the costs of the crash? He then wanted us to pay cash for the rental rather than convert the deposit to our company debit card. Really? Do you understand how business works at all? Then they tried to charge extra for the bucket. Ever tried to dig with an excavator without a bucket? Not possible. Wally's is unprepared, ignorant, unprofessional and permanently off of our list as an equipment rental supplier. I have rented from this location over the past several years. They have been good in the past. But, I recently had a baby shower and was so disappointed with their service. And to conclude, we ordered 60 outside chairs that arrived extremely dirty. It took us over 30 minutes to clean them before our guests arrived. It was a huge hassle and they didn't even want to refund a portion of the rental fee. Horrible!!! We have rented from them for years and haven't had any problems until now, it seems as though they have too much business to care about the customers. We rented stuff (tables, chairs, umbrellas, chip warmer etc.) which they delivered on time, so far so good. We had the stuff all ready for them to pick up and we called for an estimate of what time they would arrive the answer don't know. We can't give you a time. WTF? The cable company can give you a time or PG&E can give you a time but Wally's is too incompetent to give a time! Now bear in mind here I am not asking for a time like 10:07 I think a 11-1 timeframe would be manageable not to mention customer friendly. We definitely won't be back and wouldn't recommended them to my worst enemy, well ok maybe my worst. Oh and we had the stuff ready for them at 8am and here it is 2:30 we're still waiting. I ordered a dance floor for my backyard Zumba party from the Pittsburg location and they were nice to have the floor scheduled to deliver to the Concord location because I live in Concord. On the day of my party in May it rained so rather than set up the floor outside for my party to have it damaged by the rain, I asked if I could reschedule and they were nice to reschedule for a tentative future date in August. The phone conversations to reserve and reschedule the floor with Adam in Pittsburg was great. He was friendly and attentive to my needs. A week before my rescheduled date in August, I called to confirm the details and they said they'd have the floor delivered to the Concord location for my convenience which was great. My Zumba instructor that I hired for my party had some schedule conflicts so I called Wally's and spoke to Adam again to reschedule for the week after. I understand I inconvenienced them and I apologized but Adam seemed frustrated with me because they had already transferred the floor to Concord. Unfortunately, I had to call yet again and reschedule because my Zumba instructor had a death in his family. I called the Concord location and the person who answered was very annoyed and wasn't sympathetic at all with my situation. When I called Adam in Pittsburg and let him know, he was a little sympathetic. On the day that I picked up the floor from the Concord location, my mom went ahead of me to pick it up. She said the guy who was helping her was rude and had an attitude w/ her. His answers to her questions were very short and snappy. When the gentleman saw that my mom had a minivan w/ a bike rack in the back, he rudely told her that she had to take off the bike rack because it was going to make his job hard for him to load the floors w/ the rack in the way. My mom who was already irritated by his service said she'd load the floors herself and started loading the heavy floors, one by one into the van. When I showed up, the floors had already been loaded in the van and my mom was very upset. I experienced the same rude treatment from the worker as well and asked him if he was having a bad day. He was clearly angry about something and I was on the receiving end and felt poorly treated. He told me to sign the invoice and handed it to me folded up. I unfolded it and asked him where to sign and he said, "Anywhere if I care." I'm sad to say but that 5-minute visit that I had that day was the worst customer service I had ever experienced in my life. When I setup the floor at home, I noticed that they gave me the wrong end pieces for one of the sides of the floor. I was going to call to let them know but I didn't want to deal w/ the service so I decided to not let it bother me and had a blast at my party anyway. I gave this review 3 stars because I took in consideration my entire experience w/ this company from start to finish. I appreciated how they were accommodating to me to reschedule multiple times and transfer the floor to Concord for my convenience. I liked the customer service I received when I called the Pittsburg location. I did not like the service that my mom and I received in Concord on the phone and in person. Either the Concord worker was irritated that I had rescheduled multiple times or he was having a very bad day but his attitude towards us was of someone who didn't care about the company or how he treated his customers. I hope upper management can look at these low reviews and do something about improving the customer service, especially in Concord. After all, we are all human and deserve to be treated fairly for doing business at Wally's. read more

Read some of the low reviews below and I feel for them and their bad experiences but mine was the total opposite. I was renting dishware for a rehearsal dinner and when I rented the items I was still a little unsure of the numbers I needed and they were patient while I decided. They explained all their policies and the deposit procedures, etc. When I went to pick up the items it was quick and packed easily, they loaded the items into my car. This review is in regards to the animal traps. They do not work for cats. I trapped 3 cats that all escaped because the trap did not activate fully. Upon drop-off I mentioned this and asked if there was not enough weight applied and was told that couldn't have been the issue. I ended up purchasing one and was able to catch and CONTAIN a cat the first night - should have started with that! As for the service, the people were polite and as helpful as they could be, I just wanted to warn anyone looking for traps to rent to try somewhere else. read more

Went in yesterday morning to rent a car dolly and the first thing that happened is the guy inside, Ian, opened the door and did not tell us, so we stood outside thinking they were closed when they were open...very rude. Then we went inside to rent a car dolly, going to tow it with a full size V-8 vehicle, and were told that my full size vehicle is not a car that is approved to tow another car. I am not giving them a bad review because of the message, but it is how it was delivered. Ian was very condescending to us, and showed no respect, for potential clients. We rented a floor sander from Wally's last week. We went to this location because it was close to our house and when it was rented by the hour time was of the essence. We noticed the sander performed the function unevenly. In fact we had to spend extra time doing each section that should have been sanded in one pass. Because of that our project didn't get done in the alloted time. In returning the equipment, we explained the problem to the employee/manager. No relief was offered in a discount or more time.
