**STEER CLEAR OF FAIR OAKS AUTOMOTIVE!**…read more Hi neighbors, i normally keep pretty quiet and to myself about this stuff, but i wanted to share a very unfortunate experience my husband and i had with Fair Oaks Automotive. I am attaching the review my husband wrote with photos, but just in case TLDR, they damaged my husband's property and are refusing to pay to fix it. Their final offer was for us to pay half and they pay half of the large tear they made in my husband's car seat. We shouldn't pay ANY of it when we didn't create the tear. Their reasoning is that "we aren't going to pay to fix your seat when the seat was already worn out anyways." We have been very surprised and shocked with how the owner has chosen to handle this situation and refused to make it right. You cannot just go damaging a customer's property and not fix it. Mistakes happen, but it's how you choose to handle those mistakes that's important. I would advise everyone to steer clear of them or take very detailed before and after photos of their vehicles before turning them over to them. We are now unfortunately going to have to pay to reupholster the seat due to someone else's damages. In the photos attached: you can see a large rip where an employee sat down in the driver's seat to fix my husband's window with a tool or keys in their back pocket and then turned it back in to us without saying a word. We paid them over $1200 for their work on the car.

Let me tell you about my last trip to Lester's Automotive Repair, where they might as well have a…read moreneon sign that reads, "Why yes, we really are that good!" The last time I walked into a place that felt as comfy as their waiting room, I was at my grandma's house, and she was trying to feed me 'home-cooked' chicken casserole (which, by the way, looked suspiciously like it came out of a can but was delicious nonetheless). But back to Lester's: the waiting room! It's practically a mini-spa. Those Padded chairs while very worn are so cozy, I half-expected a massage therapist to pop out and rub my shoulders while I sipped on their free coffee. I was so relaxed, I almost forgot I'd come in to get an alignment with an appointment I just made minutes before I arrived. Now let's talk about the experts at Lester's. These honest mechanics are like the Gandalf of auto repair: They don't just wave their wrenches around and mumble spells; they actually *listen*., devise a good plan and then execute your decisions about how and what you want done do your vehicle. I firmly believe that if anyone rolled in with a "check engine" light, instead of trying to convince a customer to replace their entire engine (which, you know, might as well have been made of gold), they would be honest enough to explain that it was just a loose gas cap. Also, scheduling an appointment? Easy-peasy. The last time I had such a smooth experience was when I hydroplaned my car on black ice going 45 down a hill in a snow covered icy countryside's back road. But I digress. They get you in and out faster than teenagers clear a plate full of pizza. And not once did I feel like they were trying to pull a fast one on me with pricing. I was standing dumbfounded saying, "Is that all? Are you sure you don't want me to pay extra for that whole honesty thing because the guy up the street wanted almost double and you are also charging me what you quoted me at the start? Are you sure that is the price?" In short, if you want your car fixed without being bamboozled, and would like a waiting room where you can consider napping instead of scrolling through sad social media posts, head on over to Lester's Automotive Repair. Just remember, unlike my old jokes, this place *really* delivers! P.S. Why did the mechanic sleep under the car? Because he wanted to get up oily in the morning! Seriously though, one of the best auto mechanic shops in the area. You can't go wrong here!

Nothing is perfect and as a business owner myself, I understand some minor hiccups in the transaction process. For starters, my vehicle was not cleaned at delivery granted it was 26° outside, which I totally understand! The bait and switch tactics used at financing was nothing abnormal, however, I was a bit surprised the $1800 that was tacked on to the advertised price for what the Salesman informed me as " the fee pay to Toyota to make the vehicle certified", I consider it extra money for the dealership; however, we were able to negotiate an agreement. Lastly, being that I purchased a certified vehicle there should've been a second key. I had to make a second trip out to the dealership several days later to have them cut it. This was a slight inconvenience, but the service department was very kind and friendly got me in and out within 10 minutes! I wouldn't hesitate referring to someone to the dealership, but I would be extra vigilant on not paying dealership markups as many dealers in the area are struggling to sell inventory.

I've been a loyal Toyota customer for most of my life, which is why this experience has been so…read moredisappointing. I bought a new Corolla from Toyota of Boerne in 2014 and received such great service that I continued driving from San Antonio just to have my vehicle maintained there. Based on that experience, I stayed with Toyota when I purchased a 2018 Camry. That turned out to be a costly mistake. In 2023, Toyota of Boerne recommended a transmission fluid service. Shortly after that, my transmission failed at just 75,000 miles. I had it replaced (with a used transmission due to cost), and now, less than two years later, it has failed again. When my car recently started having issues, I brought it back to Toyota of Boerne and was told the oil pan needed replacement. What should have been a routine repair turned into a 30 day ordeal. I was charged over $1,500, and throughout that time there was poor communication, conflicting information, and little sense of urgency. I often received different answers depending on who I spoke with. After nearly a month without my car, I was then told--only after the oil pan repair--that the transmission had failed again and would cost $9,000 to replace. This diagnosis came after I had already spent significant time and money, not before. After speaking with independent mechanics, I learned that 2018 Camrys are widely known to have transmission issues. Despite this, Toyota's corporate office refused to offer any goodwill assistance. Now I'm stuck paying out of pocket for a rental car, struggling to find a replacement transmission due to widespread failures, and dealing with the financial fallout of repeated major repairs on a relatively low-mileage vehicle. What's most frustrating is this: I trusted Toyota. I trusted their service recommendations, and I trusted a brand known for reliability. That trust has been completely broken. I was planning to purchase a truck in the near future. After this experience, I will not be buying from this dealership--and very likely not from Toyota again.
