I have been in here three different times (different days, different times of the day, with several months between visits) in an attempt to get an oil change. I am a regular customer at the Biddeford location and they don't seem to have a problem there -- perhaps Scarborough should take some notes. Each time I have been to Scarborough, there is a line of 2-3 customers at the counter when I walk through the door, and only one associate available to help the line (who has a minimal sense of urgency might I add). Long story short, yesterday I had to wait legitimately 20 minutes before the associate told me that it would be AT LEAST 2.5 hours for an oil change (at a place that does not take appointments). I told him it would have been nice to know that up front, before I wasted my time standing in his line. He did tell me he would be with me ASAP, which was a good attempt at customer service on his part, but ultimately NOT helpful. I almost wish he asked me what I needed right away so that he could have told me what I wasted my time waiting to hear.
If this were the first time this had happened, I would have let it go. But each time I have been in there it has been the same thing -- waiting an absurd amount of time only to be told that I would have to wait hours longer.... for something like an oil change that can be done at the Prompto, or even the Biddeford Walmart, in 15 minutes as a walk-in customer. This other Walmart (in a neighboring town) also always have people in the waiting room and cars in the shop, so its not like Scarborough seems out of control busy compared to them. I just think that if Walmart wants to skimp on their staffing in the Auto Center, they need to have some sort of digital sign letting people know how long it will take for their services--without the assistance of an employee....or they need to start using an appointment book because apparently you can't walk in and have anything done to your car. read more
