I was visiting from California and laid my phone down somewhere in the Hood River Wal Mart. When I realized it was missing, I notified the Customer Service Desk. They immediately went into action. I was a mess. I thought it had been stolen. My husband was waiting in the car. I went out to tell him what was going on. He came back in the store. A young associate asked if we had Life 360. I handed her my husbands phone and she immediately knew my phone was somewhere in the store. I told her what aisles I had been shopping on. She asked my husband to call my phone. She found it. This took approximately 60 seconds from the time she looked at our Life 360. She was one of 3 ladies who helped me. There was also a man checking receipts at the door who was so kind. I cannot say enough about these 4 individuals. Thank you so much. Your kindness and professionalism means the world to me. read more

Came here on work break to buy a 700 dollar item. It is a locked item. Pressed the help button multiple times and nobody came. I then tracked down 2 different employees and they said I needed to find someone with keys. Do you want to make money off of me or not? Small Walmart but they have a little of everything. I'm often in the Hood River area so having this store right off the first exit, makes it a convenient stop if I've forgotten to pack personal items or want to pick up snacks. I've often had to stop in to buy a sweater or vest when the weather turned cold. The customer service area is immediately to the left when you enter. Line moves slow, but it's Walmart! Restrooms also in this area. Clothing sections are small, but typically I'm looking for layering pieces and their No Boundaries brand has great all cotton options for way under $10. Tanks are $2.99 and long sleeve Tee's are $4.99. Big parking lot and it's always crowded as they are the only show around for many miles. Several handicapped spots and also electric charging stations. read more

Horrible pharmacy. And I can prove this considering that a 10 year old is writing it on his mom's computer. The pharmacy looked so dirty it had to be biohazordis. Somebody call Hazmat! They needed info that they already had, and by doing that they made us 20 minutes late for our appointment. But we were so lucky because we did'nt go. Smart move. I recommend that NO human goes there. But the store is great unlike the pharmacy. read more

This is a small but mighty little Wal-Mart. I found school backpacks, rulers, pencils, paper, and all sorts of other needed items on the school list. We bought flats of water. But we forgot that every bottle has a crv. We're from Arizona so we never pay for that, nonetheless, the $2.00 water was just over $5.00 in case you are also from Arizona. They have postcards. Yay!! Always stocking and having pallets of stuff or carts of stuff blocking your way. Horrible time trying to just shop- employees act like you are a problem getting in their way or talking in groups blocking aisles. Stock overnight or teach employees customers pay their wages- no customers no job! read more

This is my "neighborhood" Wal-Mart, so I feel both sympathetic to their issues but also annoyed at the things they COULD do better at. Plus side: This is the basic Walmart formula - lower prices for the same products that you'd pay much more for at the "regular" local grocery stores. Examples like "Simply Orange" Juice form $3.98 here vs $5.59 and more at both Safeway & Rosauers. For name brand products, the pricing is almost always better here; for Walmart branded products, you get lower prices but you'll have to judge quality on your own. Now the negatives: They're stuck with their wage structure so I'd say the employees are a mix. Some are helpful and friendly and try hard. Others seem untrained and clueless. The aisles are cluttered with merchandise so you'll inevitably bump into other carts. The most dangerous part of the crowding? The exits out of the store are almost entirely blocked by shopping carts. In the event of a mass "event" or fire, trying to get out those doors would be a serious problem. Plenty of product shortages too, so have a backup plan in place when shopping. As of April 1, they'll no longer provide any store bags (paper or plastic) so bring your own or you'll have to carry stuff out in your arms or pony up to buy their bags. read more

Went to Walmart today to buy our daughter some gifts before I start chemo tomorrow for metastatic breast cancer. The lines that were open were full of people so decided to do self checkout. At the end, it prompted how many bags I'd used. I clicked "1" for the one I used. Upon paying, the lady with a lot of tattoos working in self checkout came up to me and said I needed to pay for my bag and "this time not a big deal, but next time WILL be." I told her I swear I paid for it. She showed me her tablet and I said again I swore I paid for it. She replied with "let's see what your receipt says" very snottily. She printed the receipt and saw on my receipt I DID pay for the bag. She then laughed and said haha nickel police! I was absolutely disgusted by the entire incident. I understand you have to prevent people from not paying for a bag, but how rude she was to me about it after I told her repeatedly that I swore I paid for it. Absolutely will never go to this Walmart ever again. read more

Ordered some items for pickup during the pandemic and when I showed up, the pickup location is at the very back of the store. Now I don't know about you but making potentially infected and/or high risk people walk all the way to t back of the store seems like not a very bright idea. I don't know, but maybe putting the pick up at the front of the store to minimize risk for all involved might make more sense. Personally, I'm not going to take the risk. So I was told to call and the order would be brought out to me. So I call and nobody answers. Eventually I get redirected to customer service which then redirects me back to the pickup counter, which still doesn't answer. And this loop keeps up for 20 minutes. So it looks like I'll just order this stuff from Amazon and when the inevitable depression hits after this pandemic is over and businesses like Wal Mart start laying off employees in mass, I won't shed a tear. read more

Had trouble trying to order online with instore pick up so I called the store and was lucky enough to get Anita on the phone. She was amazing and I hope Walmart realizes what a wonderful employee they have in Anita. I am saddened by the number of hateful reviews posted for our local Walmart. I am a resident of Hood River and, while I don't go there on a daily basis, I do go there for food, clothing, electronics, lawn and garden supplies, linens, hardware, paint, plants...virtually anything you can mention. In seventeen years of shopping in this store, I have never walked out the door thinking I had been overcharged, treated disrespectfully, disappointed with variety, quality or availability of the merchandise I needed. I have always found staff very helpful in assisting me find what I needed or learn about what options were available for my needs. We are a small town. We do not need a superstore. If you are fortunate to be a guest in our little town, please show some respect for our lifestyle and the people who work diligently to make your visit as good as it can possibly be. Be kind...you might be surprised at the reaction you will get here at our friendly Hood River Walmart. read more

No one in the store knows anything about the departments they work in. It takes forever to get paint mixed and you pretty much have to know what you're getting in order to get the right thing. $.96 cents out of every dollar that goes in the Walmart leaves the county, 70% of that goes to Arkansas and the rest goes to China. read more

This store is overall used just for necessities, but today I went there and I can honestly say it was the worse customer service I've experienced in my life. Ehh. I suppose that it has the essentials. I'm back from Salem, and we have a big walmart. This one in comparison is small. It's decent I suppose, but my biggest disappointment is the lack of organization. They have (small) coolers holding a small variety of drinks and cold foods, and the clothes is right next to the foods, they have no isles really, you can't tell where anything is... If you're a traveler who doesn't live in the area and goes to that Walmart often, you'd hate it. I don't go to Walmart often... But that was just a sad experience... read more
