Customer service! I was there at around 8:30am cane across approximately 5 employees who wanted to visit with each other then helping any customers, note I was the only customer in the store. All employees ignore me and I decided to leave as I could find the correct size. As walking out they said couldn't find anything to buy, I said no, I just couldn't find any help. Sales clerk states thats too bad. I like Coastal Farm Stores but don't bother. The store merchandise is thrown in the aisle, basically instead of visiting start cleaning up the aisles and help customers. read more

Service was horrible, with hardly any customers in the store and zero customers in the feed department it still took 15 minutes to get somebody over to the animal feed counter to get two items then when I go outside to get my feed the gate is not labeled as far as which one to go to and they don't tell you at the counter which one to go to and with nobody outside another 15 minutes went by before a boy came up and loaded my feed in the back of my truck by throwing it hopefully he didn't bust the bags but I don't know yet but worst customer service I've had ever anywhere!! This Coastal is in a small town. They suffer the same labor shortage as everywhere else. So, be patient and stand in line without complaining. They do their best. I had excellent help in the chainsaw dept recently. I just asked for assistance and was sent someone in a couple minutes, he made sure I was getting the correct chain for my saw then double check the specs and confirmed it was the one!! I'll be back in a few weeks to stock up on more horse feed. read more

Such great service!!!! Was having trouble finding what we needed for our goats until Alannah found us. She was very helpful, friendly and knows a lot about animals. With her knowledge of animals plus what 4H animals need she was able to find us all we needed for our 4H goats. Everyone is always friendly at The Dalles store. If one employee isn't sure on the item you're looking for they are quick to find someone more knowledgeable. read more

-1star went into the dalles coastal and every employee quoted a price for propane at 2.99 a gallon i had 4 5 gallon tanks to fill and thought that was a great price and the boy pumping it said they had the best prices in town ANSD THEY DID FOR ABOUT 100 FEET CUZ AT CHECK OUT THE SNIPPY OLD LADY SAID the propane was 3.49 i told her they said 2.99 she smerked and said WELL IT WENT UP and i asked her why it went up in under 15 mins. she said cuz we sell prefilled tanks at 2.99 and the bulk was 3.49 that was a bald face lie and everything was fine till she asked me for my rewards number i said i didnt want one thats when the price went from 2.99 to 3.49 and i dont know why they want my number they dont have anything for rewards . so i couldnt just give back the propane unless i took the tanks in and empty them into the store ( and i really wanted to) the service was ok but the lieing was excellent ill never go back and be f..ked over by the likes of them read more

I originally went in at the end of May looking for a small chicken coop for my mother. She picked one out, and it was the last one and had a cracked piece on it. We asked how much it was, and waited about a half an hour for someone to come up with a price. It was $350, a hundred dollars more than Amazon.com and it had a crack in the base. I bought the coop from Amazon, mainly because Cody, the person who helped (?) us was dismissive, and wouldn't let us talk to a manager. A month later, my mom and I went in and asked Amy if we could speak to a manager about the coop. Cody came by again and said it was $350, he had talked to the managers 5 times that week about the coop, and he wasn't going to bother them again. He then said, "The managers are working on the outside reset, and I doubt they want to deal with this coop". He said it in again in a dismissive manner with his voice rising at the end. I said," so what you're saying is that the managers are more concerned with the reset rather than the customers. At that point I thought his head would blow up, but he grabbed another person and asked them about the coop. The guy didn't know, so when he came back I said, "I'm not asking you to talk to the manager for us, I'm asking you to get a manager for us to talk to. Can you do that?" He said yes, and looked like had swallowed his tongue. When he left, Amy said that his statement about the reset was pretty rude. The manager came, gave us a price and we bought it. The cashier was one step above rude. Two employees helped load the coop, very nice guys, I gave them a tip and off we went. When we got home, they hadn't put in the ramp for the coop. My mother called and spoke to Amy, and told me Amy would look for it and put it in a safe place. They would hold it for a few days. I went back to pick it up, thinking that my mother had talked to Amy again, and established that it was there. I was trying to be as low key as possible, since I didn't want a repeat of the time before. The guy who helped me was very friendly, and looked everywhere. I was going to leave, and make my own, when two other people joined the search. Cody was still remarking on how he was too busy with the reset to do anything. I really wanted to just go, and they kept asking me who I talked to and what was said. I told them I didn't talk to anyone, it was my mother, so I wasn't sure. As I was waiting, an employee with a big cart passed by and asked in a snide voice who I talked to. I told him Amy, and he said there was no one named Amy who worked there, in a snide, ha, I caught you voice. The employee behind me said that there was. I was standing there, just waiting, not saying anything, and this guy comes out of nowhere to say that. I guess they are relieved that I, my mother, who has just started with chickens and anyone else I talk to in the chicken breeding world will not be shopping at that store. It was amazingly twilight zone like. I have a flock of 50 chickens, and I breed frizzled Polish and Brahmas. I use a lot of straw, wood chips, feed, scratch, chick feed etc, and I assure you, I will never step foot in a Coastal again. read more

My husband and I went in today to check on availability and prices on a couple farm gates. First stop out by the gates asked a young gentleman about pricing he told us to go inside to the desk and ask them .Second stop the desk he told us about , that gentleman had no idea about any gates or even how to look them up on his computer. He told us to go up front to the cashier and ask her. Okie dokie this is going well, we arrive at the check stands she doesn't know so she calls for the first gentleman we talked to.......Yikes we're in our late 60s and 70s I'm not sure we have enough time left to shop this store! read more

I love his place for getting my dogs food. I love looking at the clearance racks when I go in there. I usually have a great experience!! I went in there on 4/30/15 and the cashier was extremely RUDE!! I couldn't believe it!!! I've never been treated like that there ever!!!!! And then after treating me like that she didn't even give me my sunflower seeds!!! Of course there is no name on my receipt. This is your standard Coastal Farm and Ranch, but my review is to point out to my fellow local pet owners that this place is the most affordable place in town to buy pet food and supplies. Today I visited Petco for some items and then I immediately headed to Coastal afterwards for dog food. I decided to compare some prices. I mean I always knew Petco was expensive, but HOLY HELL I had no idea how much extra I was paying for stuff. We bought a dog bone at Petco for $6 and saw the exact same thing at Coastal for $3. I found a few other items that were half the price of Petco. Yikes. Sooooooo, guess where I'll be buying all pet supplies from now on?! Worth mention.... Coastal obviously has more than dog food and bones. The best cowboy boots I will ever own came from this Coastal :-) read more

I'm not impressed, they changed the way you get feed and although it was a smooth visit when I went to the Gresham, Or store, The Dalles failed badly. I paid for my 2 items and waited to have them loaded, no one came. Went back in and made a 2nd request. Finally someone comes out without the feed I purchased. So he had to go back in and bring it out. Meantime their system wasted my time. I could have done it myself and cut 20 minutes off their time. read more

Good selection of western clothes, best pet food prices around and now, a gun counter. OFTEN difficult to find help in here and many of the employees are not overly enthusiastic to help when you can find one. We did buy a pellet stove here and the guy working in stoves was very nice and helpful. read more

I love Coastal! I go there for chicken feed and grain for my horse! Just so you know the last 3 times I have been there I have gone inside the store and then had to go back out to get one of those green carts to put my grain on to buy it! I have shopped here many, many times! The employees are very knowledgeable, friendly and seem to genuinely like their jobs. It's always fun to browse the massive selection of great stuff! I love to pet the bunnies and chicks that they often have for sale! A great place to find: men's clothes/jeans, shoes/boots, pet food/stuff, canning stuff, pest control, toys, wind chimes, country decor, purses/jewelry, kid/baby clothes, and of course they have the obvious stuff like wheelbarrows, chicken feed and horse tack. read more
