Maybe it's a supply chain issue. In my experience, locally owned Ace Hardware stores are a cut above most hardware stores with surprisingly well stocked and upscale home decor, garden and seasonal items. Not the White Salmon location. If you need the basics, but nothing more, this store is convenient. Large parking lot. Helpful staff.

They have everything. They do have their own brand of tools, one step up from Harbor Fright and less than name brands. They have their own parking lot. Typically I drive from Mosier to Home Depot but not anymore! Tum-A-Lum has everything I need and I don't have to walk across a massive store to pick up 2 or 3 items. Seeking an Allen wrench, wallboard joint compound and a fine grain sandpaper wedge to repair old nail holes in my wall, a worker noticed me searching the aisles and immediately offered help. Within minutes I had what I came in for and then spent another 10 minutes walking around to check out the inventory. Need a new kitchen faucet? Paint supplies? Hardware for doors, picture hanging, dressers? Cabinets and tiles to remodel a bathroom or kitchen? Garden and yard tools and BBQs? Lighting, plumbing and electrical supplies? Even plants, vegetables, soil, seeds and ceramic pots of your garden in their small garden area out front.. They have have a little of everything and a lot of some things! And of course lumber. I've passed by so many times while visiting Hood River, but always assumed it was a lumber supply store for construction, not open to retail. And never realized they were also a hardware store. Located right off exit 65 on I-84 it's super convenient and they have a large parking lot. Yum-A-Lum is now my go-to place for all of my fix-it needs!

There only a handful of flooring stores and none of them stock rug pads, including Home Depot. Kat answered the phone at Swell City Carpet with a cheerful hello. After listening to my request, she told me if I placed the order before noon, their warehouse in Odell would include the pad on their delivery at 1pm, same day. What? Price was a bit higher than online but totally worth it for the convenience. Friends are coming to help move the furniture so we can put down the new rug properly and I don't want to go through the hassle again when a rug pad would arrive. This makes it a one and done. Or do it right the first time! While there I checked out the small, but well represented store. An entire section dedicated to different types of hardwood floor, tile and carpet. A section for paint and all the supplies needed if you are doing it yourself or a contractor. Plus lots of hardware store items. Located right on Cascade Avenue a few blocks east of Safeway, its an easy stop when you are running errands. Oh, and Kat even carried the rug pad to my car! Much appreciated.

I was visiting from California and laid my phone down somewhere in the Hood River Wal Mart. When I…read morerealized it was missing, I notified the Customer Service Desk. They immediately went into action. I was a mess. I thought it had been stolen. My husband was waiting in the car. I went out to tell him what was going on. He came back in the store. A young associate asked if we had Life 360. I handed her my husbands phone and she immediately knew my phone was somewhere in the store. I told her what aisles I had been shopping on. She asked my husband to call my phone. She found it. This took approximately 60 seconds from the time she looked at our Life 360. She was one of 3 ladies who helped me. There was also a man checking receipts at the door who was so kind. I cannot say enough about these 4 individuals. Thank you so much. Your kindness and professionalism means the world to me.

Came here on work break to buy a 700 dollar item. It is a locked item. Pressed the help button…read moremultiple times and nobody came. I then tracked down 2 different employees and they said I needed to find someone with keys. Do you want to make money off of me or not?
