I made an appointment on Wednesday for an oil change on Friday at 11:30 am. That process went easy as always. I arrived at 11:00 am to drop off my truck and shop while it was being serviced. The technician came out and informed me that Walmart had been out of oil filters for a month (for an unrelated supplier legal issue) and I would have to purchase my own and bring it to them in order to complete my oil change. I had already scheduled my day around the service so I decided to go to the auto parts store in the same center. The store was packed; luckily for me I knew how to look up the filter and purchased it for $8.71. I returned early at about 11:20 and got in line again. I spoke with the tech and asked if Walmart would credit me for the filter and he gave me the corporate approved story. He said that Walmart Corp said to tell customers that they only charge 1 CENT for the filter and therefore no refund or credit would be issued. WHAT? He said I could talk to the Lead Service Tech about the issue. I went inside and spoke with him and he gave me the same corporate story. I explained that even if the filter was only 1 CENT, it was still included in the service and now I was paying more for the exact same service. He could offer no solution to this issue. I want to be clear that I was polite because I knew it was not the employees' fault and they were all nice to me. After all that, and even though I was still in line early for my 11:30 am appointment, they did not start service on my truck until an hour later at 12:29 am. Walmart Corporate...you knew about this problem and you are inconveniencing and overcharging and your loyal customers by not informing them prior to scheduling service.
