This Walmart is HORRIBLE! They chased me out of the self checkout line because I had 16 items. If you are going to do this then maybe have more than 2 registers working. This walmart has everything you need. Including extremely nice customers, I had a few strangers help me out. I didn't catch the name of the employee, but she was so sweet. I was standing by the bathroom waiting for my sister to come out and while I was standing there a bunch of employees past me, I didn't need any help, however when she came out the staff room it was the first thing she asked me. She asked if I was okay and needed assistance, then when she noticed I was kind of just standing around waiting, she gave me the biggest smile and said "oh I see you're good." But it was the thought and the gesture that was appreciated. She didn't look me over, that's what customer service is about. I'm from Boston so I think things are more expensive there, wish they typically are but the wines in this Walmart was twice the price of what I get it for at any liquor store in my area. My walmart experience was not even okay. There was a really rude walmart staff worker that kept on giving me and my two children rude stares .. This is one of the better Supercenter's I've been in but that's not to say they don't have issues. Their Halloween selection was sorely lacking. A lot shelves had blank areas. And there majority of what I wanted was nada. But they had big aisles. That was one of the things I liked. read more

Whatever amusing stereotypes from the locals to the employees you might have for mediocre Walmart locations worldwide, they might just be in their finest form here at this Walmart along North Mall. And for the many who clown these mega stores all day, there are equally as many if not more folks who are here to maximize their almighty bang for their buck. And yes, Baton Rouge is no exception. From candy to booze to toiletries, it's all at basement level prices that could get lower from week to week. I've gotten a handful of Tiger gear items as well as the occasional six pack for the home soirees of the house party kind. For the price and the inventory, that gets my 2 stars. Like many Super Walmarts, this location is also 24 hours. That draws in a late night cast of eerie characters, some of which consist of poor (and drunk) college students and then a creepier segment of the population that puts Honey Boo Boo in good company. For all the 5-6 locations in Baton Rouge, this one is the most skeevy. Know of the late night parking ruckus of spilled over shopping carts and odd parking from the one on College (http://www.yelp.com/biz/walmart-baton-rouge-5)? It also happens here too. I haven't had a lot of great luck with the employees unfortunately. If it's not the clueless guy regarding aisle inventory, it's the grumper cashier who might be slower at scanning my items than I am stacking them on the conveyor. All this while a mini line tends to form behind me (or unless someone is ahead of me) and due to a skeleton like crew ... during the middle of the day. Thankfully, I've got a secret weapon. This location was subpar compared to the Thousand other locations that I've visited. The staff was pretty friendly however it seems as if they try to avoid eye contact so they would not have to help you if they needed to. The bathrooms in this location are surprisingly okay. Nothing great or out of the ordinary but most Walmarts that I go to are horrendous. It is great they have a decent liquor and wine selection as they are in a city and state in which you can do this! Yay for them. It is easy to miss but some of the most popular selections are located in the front by the cashiers. The place is pretty well stocked and they were not out of too much and did have seasonal as well as Regional items to choose from. You definitely could get some sec memorabilia from this location. Good mix of customers is great...some shady characters and some classic characters. That doesn't matter neither here nor there for me. Some care about this type of thing! Don't have a small mind...grow greatly! And yes they did have #AlwaysLowPrices. Shop on! read more

Horrible customer service. I bought a set of sheets because they were on sale, but when I checked out they rang up at almost twice the price. I told the customer service manager (Jayla) that they rang up the wrong price, but she refused to honor the price marked on the shelf, instead offering to take 10% off. I told her this was false advertising, but she didn't care, acted as if I was an interrupting her busy schedule of looking at her phone. In disgust, I then went to the service desk and returned my entire order for credit back on my credit card. I just checked my card statement and the charge is on there, but no refund, so now I have to file a dispute with my bank, what a pain in the butt! Will never spend my money at this Walmart again and I am filing a complaint with Corporate in the hopes of getting Jayla fired! read more

I've been getting my groceries here forever. And they have a good selection of food and other items. The reason I give them three stars is because of check out. I still can't understand why a store that is as busy as it is, only opens one checkout lane in the morning. They have 14 of them. But every Friday morning around 9 am, you are lucky to find just one of them open. And most of the time it's the short counter one, so putting all your groceries up there is challenging. There are usually about 3 or 4 employees hanging around customer service and 2 up front. Why can't Walmart move them to where they are needed the most, so people don't have to wait in long lines to check out. Also, my boyfriend loves to target shoot. So we buy bullets sometimes. Why is it, there is never anyone in the hunting section? And by the time you finally track down the person that is suppose to be working that department, they always have to find the person with the key. It's so time consuming. Same with the paint department. We gave up trying to get paint because nobody ever did come to help us. Even with these problems, I'm still a faithful Walmart shopper at this location. The workers in the grocery area are really friendly and helpful. And a lot of them take the time to remember you if you come often. read more

"It's a Wal-Mart, what more can I say"? This Wal-Mart is probably one of the better ones in town. I am always pleasantly greeted by someone at the door and thanked, when I leave. Customer service for Wal-Mart locations in Baton Rouge don't have the best rap sheet. This store has always been organized and the employees are a bit more helpful here than other ones I have been to. How often do I visit a Wal-Mart? it's a rarity these days, unless I am desperate. I don't think the prices here are all that great nor do I think the quality is anything to write home about. The bottom line is, I am not a fan of Wal-Mart. I feel out-of-place each time I walk into this store. I compare all Wal-Mart stores to the ones in Hawaii and Canada because those were some of the best I have seen. read more

While living here across the street at tuscany villas, i find myself at this walmart very frequently. When i know i have to return something, i hate myself for it. Why? Because they ALWAYS have the same lady... not very friendly and very SLOWWWW lady at the customer service desk. She takes - no lie - 10-15 mins per customer. EVERY SINGLE TIME. The line gets sooo long. It makes coming here inconvient. Im sure she is a sweet lady and hard worker. But there are soooo many associates walking around. I needed an oil change. First one for my new car. I got there at 645 and waited for them to open. At 700 when automotive opened i went in side. I was greeted by a very rude lady named Michelle. Before I was able to ask any questions she rudely stated that nothing could be done till the next tech. got there. I had no problem waiting 10 minites for a tech. I asked her if we could start the paperwork while I waited she said no. I had questions about which synthetic brand of oil I wanted to use. Her attitude was unbelievably bad. So I left. I am at NTB tires now getting the oil change done. It is gonna cost about $10.00 more, but worth it. I am a GM of a restaurant in Baton Rouge. Getting my oil changed at Walmart. What I like is I'm not being up sold services I don't need. Went to Iffy Lube with a Gxoupon last oil change. They may as well offer to sell a new vehicle. And worse Iffy Lube didn't put back what they took off my vehicle. I'm here early at Walmart so don't expect the wait to be long. Not the cheeriest employees but what you expect. Auto Department workers are nothing more than incompetent liars! I arrived at the location at 2:30pm after having being lied to at the O'Neal Ln. location. THEY ARE WORSE HERE! Two ladies created a service ticket at 2:45pm for me to have 2 tires installed that I ordered from Walmart.com. They told me it would be a two hour wait, I said fine, and gave them my keys. One of them gave me a claim receipt and said someone we call me when my truck is ready, so I left the store. At 5:30, I began to worry because I did not receive call, so I began calling the store off and on until 6:20. No one answered in any department.....shocker. So at went to the store. I arrived at 6:50 and the techs were rushing to shut down and leave. No one greeted me, in fact, they intentionally ignored me! My truck had not been touched. When I finally got two techs to help me in the store, they said the ticket was canceled. So I went to the front to get a manager involved. It was then discovered that the ticket was canceled because someone lied and said my truck wouldn't start. However, it started immediatly in front of an assistant manager and one tech. It's was also said that they confused my GMT800 2005 Suburban (silver) with a another GMT900 2007-2013 Suburban on further down the row. Guess what? It belonged to a Sam's Club employee who happend to remote started it in front of the assistant manager and tech too!!! So where is this mystery Suburban that wouldn't start? These were the only two Suburbans in both Walmart's and Sam's Club Auto Department lots at the time! Save your time, money, and sanity! Take your vehicle somewhere else...... read more

Rude customer service in the electronics department!! Waited patiently for three clerks to finish discussing plans with friends and looking at their smartphones!! I kept saying "excuse me , can someone help me please" only to be ignored evening after making eye contact,several times...finally a lady approached us and said"have y'all been helped", "you've been standing here all this time"...thank goodness she was a supervisor or something...she wasn't happy that the clerks were slackers! I know the lines at Walmart never move but seriously we've been in line to check out for 45 minutes and haven't moved at all. Every lane in exactly the same and haven't moved either. Get it together! I was a recent visitor to this WalMart from Austin, Texas. This store seem to be filled with attitude. My uncle, from PA, tried to get $100 that was sent to him via WalMart's Money Center. He had an expired PA driver's license (he no longer drives) and a valid U.S. VA id. The clerk would not accept his id stating that he needs a state issued driver's license or state id. SHE added that the VA id didn't had an expiration date when in fact it does. Anyway, after talking with customer service mgr Desiree, who politely restated (w/o the attitude) the store policy we left. Upon leaving the store I noticed a sign saying acceptable id include military id. I guess VA id do not qualify in Baton Rouge, LA but do in Killeen, Tx. read more

The staff looks half dead and lacks any personality. Be prepared for your food to thaw or go warm before you can check out. There are NEVER enough lines open and the cashiers have no idea how to bag nor any ambition to do so in a timely manner.
