The great employees at this Walmart are the best. My experience here was on 7/3/2026. My wife, grandson and I were here when my wife got sick a sharp eye employee noticed contacted management. A very kind lady that was there with her young daughters jumped into action called 911 stayed with us consoling my wife as we waited for emergency service to arrive. The management team Ms. Deider and Ms. Iceus were on point as well as the EMTs, thank you all. For those that may say what does this have to do with Walmart? It's Walmart folks - what much more do I need to say? However, I will tell you this. I have access to maybe 5 Walmart's in my normal travel areas and this by far is the cleanest and most friendly one around. The staff have been so polite and this might come out wrong in a post but they all look/act professional. I looked over previous reviews and seen the past situations. Fortunately for me I've not seen these issues. Maybe there has been a manager or regional manager change. Not sure. So when I know I need to do larger shopping and plan on walking around - this is the location I choose. read more

WORST customer service, yet again. Ladies RR had no paper (fortunately I'm a frequent traveler and carry my own!). Sign said "see an associate if RR needs attention". Immediately told the self-checkout monitor gal, and she pointed to the customer service desk. I was not going to wait in that line, but another "vest" just happened to be right there, so I told her... "Yeah, we already called someone about that, they should be there by now". We'll....if they were, I wouldn't be telling you, now would I? Seriously? Then I went to shop quickly for something , and as I was walking the store, I saw literally 7 other associates chatting and doing nothing. Four of them hanging out around their large stick carts, right next to the restrooms! Again...seriously?? If only there were a store nearby where someone could grab some paper and stock the RR. Love the new remodel! Doesn't feel as hectic in there as it usually does. Seems like they added more self checkout registers. Everything looks really nice and updated. I love you Walmart...long time customer... BUT if I ever have a cart full of groceries and there isn't a PERSON in a checkout line, I am not coming back. This is the second time this has happened to me....we don't need 3 people for self checkout on each side and no one actually checking anyone out. STOP with the self checkout lines!!! Five years ago when I moved to Chesapeake, I used to like coming to this Walmart location. It was new and well stocked; the employees were friendly and knowledgeable; you could always find a line open as it wasn't as crowded as other locations up by I64 and in Norfolk and VB. Things have changed. These days, you can never find an employee here, and when you do... well the last one I spoke to said "This ain't my department, I don't know". No offer to get someone who could answer my question; the person just shuffled off. Another issue I have is finding an open line. I don't care how busy it there are maybe, and I say maybe 2 open lines. They're pushing as many customers as they can to  self-checkout, which is fine, if you only have a handful of items. However, if you have a cart full of goods, it's going to take you a year to self-checkout because the register scanner area is just to small for your cart in the self-checkout . Will I still go here... Occasionally I guess... If the Target across the street doesn't have what I'm looking for. read more

I only go there when I am desperate on my way home to grab a couple items. I made the mistake of trying to do my regular weekly shopping this morning, they did not have one cashier. I think if you go to buy $300.00 or so of groceries you should not have to check yourself out. I am done I will not do that again. read more

I usually like coming here. It is close, convenient and less crowded. Haven't had much interaction with the employees until recently when one took his fellow coworkers behind me and checked them out at the self serve cashier while I continued to wait in line. The Pharmacy staff at Walmart (Hillcrest/Edinburgh) are phenomenal! Not only are they knowledgeable and professional, they honestly care about their customers. We had received a new medication to get filled from an ER visit. When I called to confirm when they closed, I found out I wouldn't be able to get there until right at closing time. The pharmacist, Juliette, knew we needed the medication and said she would wait for us. She and Sharinia filled our script; they were lifesavers. These 2 ladies went beyond what was required, and we truly appreciate their high level of customer service. read more

To whoever sells phones on Wednesdays in the back, who is a woman with brown hair and glasses, needs to be reevaluated for her customer service experience and skill. My dad attempted to buy printer ink and was waiting in the back to be checked out. She was servicing another customer and asked if my father needed phones. He answered he was trying to check out, and was rudely told to go up front, they do not check out back there anymore. When he tried to explain that he had gone up front and been told to check out back in the store due to having the locked containers of ink, she told him that they could help him up front, and with the tone used, insinuating his experience up front was a lie. However, to the kind gentleman who checked us out after walking by and asking if we needed help, thank you so much for being kind. read more

Clean. Shelves well stocked. Many of the product areas have a respectable selection, including and especially the seasonal section, although not quite at the level of Grassfield and Sam's Circle Super Walmarts. Produce section has all the basics and the quality is okay to good. Prices are generally lower than you would see at other neighborhood grocery stores, but we're talking cents lower, not dollars. Same register issues plague this Walmart as all the others: 1 maybe 2 registers out of the 20+ are open, and if you come at night you may only have the self-checkout option available. The Krispy Kremes stare at you as you approach the check-out, so its your choice to leave your guard up . . . or not. read more

It's Walmart. We all shop here. But damn. They really don't know what they are doing when it comes to money services. I went to get a money order to pay rent. Waited 15 min with a fussy baby for two women to restart the machine. Then they tell me that they can't refund it to my card... What?? Why not??? Because they just can't. I ended up getting refunded in cash. But it was super uncomfortable carrying a grand when I have a baby. If the machines broken, just say it's not working. I'll go somewhere else. Normally wouldn't even do this but hoping maybe by saying something it will get corrected. I use Walmart for my pharmacy and when a doctor calls a prescription in there is normally a small wait, which isn't an issue. But when a get emails for the refills and do it online, I show up the next day after the time they set, and they tell me that their system doesn't take to the online orders. This happens enough that at some point someone should take the initiative to actually fix the problem. so yesterday my doctor calls a script in, and I had ordered online again (glutton for punishment), and it was going to be a 45 minute wait. I said no issue I'll stop by in the morning. Well I'm here and they tell me it'll be twenty minutes when it should have been done already. Someone need to fix this issue sooner than later. read more

I find it ironic that when you first approach the store you have to enter thru a barrier then while in the store you hear over the PA system during breaks from the music how the employees are ALL wearing protective equipment to protect the customers and the employees. Then you look around and 25% of the stockers are wearing their masks incorrectly. Worse than that, 30% aren't wearing any mask at all!!!! Well they are wearing them, they are just pulled down under their chin. If I could give them NO Stars I would but you have to give at least one. I'm not going to this Walmart again. read more

I went in here yesterday to grab a few items and pick up my photos. There was nobody in the photo center. I pushed the call employee button 17 times... with no response. Several employees walked by and I waived at them, no response... I then called the store to try and get customer service to send someone no answer, I called 3 times in 30 minutes. I finally got an employee over to try and help me, ha ha that was worthless. I said I ordered pictures online and they are ready for pick up I had been waiting for 30 minutes at that time... he said I don't know where the person is who works in this department, they should be around here somewhere. I said can you just grab my pictures, I've been waiting here for 30 min. He said the person who works here should be here somewhere.. ok fella, thanks for nothing. I left my stuff there and left the store. I will never go back, this is the worst Walmart in the area. read more

My daughter was returning something that this store sells but they do not have the same exact color. She didn't have her receipt or the packaging. They refused to allow her to return them without a upc. They have no technology to look up an item. So my daughter found a website upcitemdb.com and was able to pull up barcodes for the items. The customer service manager was very unhelpful and, I'm gonna say it, RUDE. read more

The Saturday before Christmas my daughter and I went to this Walmart early to beat the rush. We had a full cart and when we went to check out there WERE NO OPEN ISLES. We were FORCED to use self check out which I HATE. This is a great option for some people but I do not EVER want to achieve muscle memory for checking out at Walmart. Also there are no belts to assist; you have to pick up one item at a time to scan. I am fine with paying a little extra for people who are good at this process. Thank God we did not have any PRODUCE. There was a gentleman beside us who had "too many items" and the register froze. What a disaster. This is a mistake and I will just order MORE from amazon and Walmart can lose out in my unplanned shopping sprees. There should be ONE register open at all times. Let the shopper decide. read more

Yes they have a wide variety of food and non food items. Their produce is on the average spectrum as far as freshness. I went to the deli to order 1 lb of honey ham, 1 lb of turkey breast, 1 lb of genoa salami, and 1 lb of white american cheese. The service was very slow, I mean it took me about 20 minutes to wait for the food. I was able to dismiss this since the people behind the counter were very nice. Now this is the kicker, as I started putting the deli meat on the belt, I smelled a horrible odor. I opened up the meats and yes, that's what it was. I mean I almost passed out. I told the cashier, then she had a manager come up. She took it to the deli counter and came back with this: "Oh, they opened it up and let it air out a minute or so and the smell was gone." Seriously? I told them ok, well I do not want my family sick so I'm not taking it. I also told them that smell is a sign that it is bad. Something must be done. Not sure if they actually did something about it or not, but I absolutely will not be coming back to the deli there. read more

I think it is very odd that a review I wrote years ago was deleted...along with the business and then the business was re-added, without the reviews. This store has been here a few years. Since I just returned to the neighborhood, I can tell you that this Walmart has gone down hill. Which is a shame. They put this store in the middle of a very exclusive area. People do not need to shop here...they can afford to go elsewhere. The store is not as bad as some Walmarts...(disorder, chaos and empty shelves) but it def is not as good as it should be. The cashiers I have come across are rude, the shelves are cluttered and when I have asked for help, either someone tells me they will go look for someone and never return or the person acts like I am troubling them. Don't have the time or patience to deal with it. Will be going across the street to Target or a little further down the highway to a grocery store. read more

You know, we do a lot of shopping, mostly at Walmart, but I don't think this store will be on our "list" anymore, stood in line on a Sunday morning because they only had 2 registers open, then waited an extra 15 minutes for change the poor kid didn't have in his drawer (not his fault), all due to the front end manager forgetting he needed it, my wife had to go remind her of it. If I'm not mistaken, the front end manager also staffs the registers, if that's the case, surely she can't handle this complex of a position, she should be demoted to a position she is qualified for, MAYBE chief toilet cleaner. Thank God a Kroger just opened near me, with any luck, they will make Walmart open their eyes to the issues at hand. Either way, Walmart will be a "lest resort" visit. read more

Poor Walmart on the way out of business. Food lion is so much cheaper on food. I can go shop sales at food lion and pay half of Walmart prices. Where food lion does buy one get one free Walmart will "price drop" a few cents. It's no wonder they stopped matching prices. I refuse to buy meats from there and seldom will find something in produce that looks truly fresh. Now lets check out. Really, you better be ready to check out yourself because rarely will you not have to. I honestly feel I should get an employee discount since I am playing cashier there. Now there are things that are cheaper. Pet supplies, cleaning supplies and toiletries. I do like ordering online for those items and picking up later. However, almost without fail, I will order horse food and they try to substitute with chicken or pig food. I cant even comment on that further without losing my mind. The Deli crew really needs to be reviewed. I ordered a chicken finger tray and a cheese tray a week prior to picking up - I even went there first thing in the morning the day of to confirm and everything was A ok - I get there exactly at 2:30 pm like I said I would and they have the chicken tray done but no one did the cheese tray - of course, no one was around to do the cheese tray - she said the person was gone for another 20 minutes and it would take 20-30 to make --- now mind you if this was the first time I could live with it BUT this is the 3rd time they've done something like this and speaking with family they've done the same to them - can't find the order - not made when they arrived... etc.... you need a new system of how these are planned - I won't order from there again. also... while I'm at it -- the "VALLEY GIRL" checking me out that day - unfortunately both in the am and when I went for the party trays never shut up the whole time she was checking everyone out - I mean she would not be scanning and bagging she would be just talking about random crap that made no sense... she would just stand there and talk and this made the check out twice as long.... please people, you are too big of a company not to be able to monitor what's happening.... to know who was on staff this is for a chicken tray with a medium cheese to pick up 9/30 at 2:30 pm..... read more

I think this is the best walmart in the area. I live in Norfolk but drive down here to go shopping because the crowds are light, the people are friendlier than at other walmarts and I get in and out more quickly. Not every walmart carries the same items, for instance I have to visit a different store to get my motor oil in the 2.5 gallon size. However overall for general shopping this walmart is my first choice. read more
