Just happening to check and see if fresh peach season had arrived, I was delighted to see that it had. It seems to have been a long off season for the only fresh peaches that I buy. No farm stand or supermarket has anything that compares. I eat them like I did in Mississippi as a child, cut off the core and in pieces with milk (now oat milk & sweetener. There is no working hard to get the fruit off the core. Slice around the perimeter and just pull the sides apart, leaving only the core and no residue. They are absolutely perfect. Among my purchases was the Costco sized box of the Premier Protein Pancakes that I'm eating on my high protein diet. They come to packs of three and are soft, fluffy & yummy. Included in my food tracking is the 16g of protein that each serving of 3 provides. The final purchase today was one of their store prepared Kirkland Signature entrees. I thought my voice might have improved enough to eat out tonight. But I still have to strain and don't want to risk the progress. Costco's CHICKEN ALFREDO is prepared using their rotisserie chicken. It is made the perfect meal by adding frozen green peas, which make for a balanced meal. Delivery is especially beneficial. I haven't been to Costco since 2017 last time was 2016. So all the new tech things like scanning your membership card is new to me. I went with my parents and everything seems to be not a lot of space no more everything is in the walking areas. I think its too tight some places. Customer Service is nice. Using the self check out is easy and fast because the person helping did it faster than my dad scanning cuz the scan thing was not on the self check out. I'm a life longer Costco lover! Buuuut I don't love this location. The parking lot feels landlocked as there are only 2 entrances/exits and it's always congested. I can appreciate the amazing deals & price points that come with being a Costco member. I feel incredibly overwhelmed whenever I shop at this location. Granted it's the only one on this side of the water, but the one in Newport News doesn't feel this crowded. The food court here is absolutely incredible & the prices have stayed pretty consistent my entire life. They recently removed some of the food court staples, like there amazing Churros & their chocolate dipped bars with nuts, but replaced with some new items like the chicken bake & the huge, warm & gooey chocolate chip cookies. The pizza is always my go to & I swear it's the best pizza out there. Better than domino's & papa John's, etc. You just can't beat the fuel prizes either, but be prepared to wait in line for your turn at the pump! read more

Officially in my Costco Era! I've been 4-5 times within the past few weeks. I love the smell of fresh Pizza when walking in. You can grab food on your way out or grab a drink before you shop. The cafe has cheap prices you can't beat. My newest addiction is the Mocha Cold Brew Freeze. Pictures will be added soon. I do enjoy shopping here, but be aware what you see above stored in the warehouse is not what is available below. Understand this place is a true warehouse with storage filled to the walls and ceilings. It can truly be difficult to find some unique items at times due to the constant rearranging. I literally walked in here on a random weekday at 9am to grab a rotisserie chicken and that was it. In and out in 5 minutes through self-checkout. The ONE negative I would offer is that the line to go in at 9am (Executive Membership) was quite long and went down both sides of the building and it took several minutes (at least 10) for the queue to clear. I just waited in the car until I saw I could just walk in (because it was 30 degrees outside!). Otherwise, no complaints! read more

We have the VIP and it's because if you spend the $ you will make it back in the percentage back. Costco Norfolk is our go-to. It's busy, yes, but it's also efficient, well run, and honestly just easier than a lot of other locations. The layout makes sense, the aisles are wide enough to not feel like a contact sport, and things are generally where you expect them to be, which I deeply appreciate when I'm on a mission. The staff here are consistently solid & helpful without hovering, quick at checkout, and clearly used to handling volume. Even when it's packed, it moves. That alone puts it ahead of a lot of big-box stores. The selection is reliable, and this location usually has what we're looking for without feeling chaotic or picked over. Produce is good, the staples are stocked, and it doesn't have that "everything is gone and no one knows why" energy some stores get. Is it Costco? Yes. Is it crowded sometimes? Also yes. It's a bit too crowded for me. This is the only location on this side of the peninsula and because of that it seems like it's always crowded. Parking lot behavior is almost as if you avoiding an accident. Some drivers are just in a rush and lack patience for the 4 way stop immediately as you make the turn into the parking lot. I was prepared to hate Costco. It's been decades since I've been in one and I admit I was being judge. Based on the crowd and issue in the parking lot when pulling in around 2pm on a Saturday, I was prepared to be miserable. I also was thinking, "I'm never coming here again" when I saw the self-checkout lines but then realized you can walk around and get in line for a cashier. The layout is opposite of Sam's so that was confusing but, once we got to the fresh veggies and fruits and roamed around the bakery and meat sections, we saw the quality was high. We found tons of nice things at wonderful prices. I wasn't able to find my baby's diapers unfortunately, but found everything else I was looking for. Checkout was actually wonderful - very very friendly staff who were nice and jovial and also played with my baby - boxed up and packed our cart for us! My husband got a hot dog with a soda to go for $1.50 and then we had a great experience with the staff checked receipts at the door. All in all - def. 4 stars. We will come back. read more

My first experience with Costco was back home in Canada in the food court. They used to sell poutines dirt cheap because (a) it was back in the day and (b) it was in Canadian dollars LOL. I didn't have a membership then because I didn't have a business and I was single. We finally got a Costco membership when we were stationed in Hawaii, at out necessity and ever since, this relationship is going strong. I'm sure you know most of the benefits, but these are things I love about Costco: Executive Membership - the fee is a steep $120, but you get 2% cash back and most years, I almost make it all back rewards. If you don't want to dish out the $120, start with the basic and if you want to upgrade later on, I believe they will prorate it. Gas - as a general rule of thumb, they are usually the cheapest. If you shop there often like I do, I usually fill up there once a week. Kirkland Brand - I love their house brand and you'll usually find things like their TP, paper towels, seaweed, their liquor, EVOO, nuts (to name a few) in our cart. The unofficial word on the street is that their suppliers are usually the same well known brands, like vodka and Grey Goose (the bottles resemble each other). They source the best Asian products - Costo buyers know what's up! They have a great selection of Asian products. One thing we buy in bulk is their seaweed, the Kirkland brand. The biggest container filled with lots of sheets and the cheapest you will find! I hate that they have been running out lately and replace it with another brand that isn't the same in value and quantity. I've seen things like citrone (yu-ja - Korean citrus fruit) jam for tea, pear juice, boba mochi, instant noodle bowls, Bachan sauce etc. So many great products, from produce to meat, ready made meals, drinks, frozen products, spices in bulk. The list goes on. Samples - you can practically have a small meal making your rounds on a weekend day. That's how they also get ya. I don't know how many times I have bought an item because I sampled it first. Online shopping - if you order items in the grocery category, with a minimum order of $75, you can have it shipped for free. Other items like clothes or products, are usually free shipping. But beware, most items online are marked up, hence the free shipping. Food court - solid items. Who can beat their decent pizza for that size and price? But Dear Costo, can ya bring back the Supreme?! And have you had their newest item, the chocolate chip cookie? It the size of my kids' face. Only con is, there are only two Costos in the entire area. The one here in Norfolk is BUSY. ALL. THE. TIME. Like from opening til close. You can find the best stuff during the holidays too. One of the things I regret not getting is the darn Hexclad set when it was on sale during the holidays. The lowest I've ever seen it. Maybe this year.... Went for a quick in and out item purchase. We found what we needed but assumed they would have a similar selection as the COSTCO near our home. We were a little disappointed at the lesser selection, but we still got what we needed. Since it was mid-day, we decided to get the kids pizza and hot dogs. Unfortunately, the kitchen seemed to be overwhelmed and it took quite a while for them to catch up on cooking pizzas for all their orders. This Costco is much less busy from the Costcos in Hawaii. I got to the front of the gas line with zero wait. The parking lot is kind of a mess with narrow stalls and customers driving crazy around the parking lot. The inside is well lit, temperature controlled well, and pretty open. Lots of good offerings, sale items, and I found the ability to spend $150+ when I was just shopping for a few things. This Costco dominates their rivals Sam's Club by a lot in my opinion. I got most of the stuff I was looking for one sale and the other stuff was really cheap. I love that Virginia only charges 1% tax on food items which most of my purchase where. I bought my water and storm prep necessities prior to the large predicted snow storm that was coming on the weekend. Overall, I realize I am definitely a Costco fan and it makes it hard to shop anywhere else. Thank you Costco for being the best! read more

We stopped by Costco this morning to get some gasoline. They have some of the best prices in the area. Right now, regular gasoline is $2.66 per gallon. While we were there, we went inside to pick up a few things for dinner tonight. We really enjoy the Chilean Sea Bass and we found a nice filet. Their fresh produce is value priced, fresh and delicious. They also offer competitive prices for meats like chicken, pork, steak and turkey during the holidays. read more

I love love love Costco! I have been a member here since forever. It is always so easy to down the Rabbit hole when here there is so much to discover. They just recently remodeled the layout and I love the new layout you can go in between the aisles in the middle now instead of going to the very end to get to the next aisle where there canned goods, spices, condiments, cleaning products, etc... DAYSI J. IS A HORRIBLE CASHIER!!! My sister and I went into this Costco location today and spent over $300 on groceries and supplies for our business. The store was very busy especially for a weekday afternoon but we decided to still give it a chance. The problem for us arose when we were checking out. My sister was on the phone with our mom (on my phone due to a family emergency) as we were checking out, so I was doing all of the talking with and paying the cashier. My sister gave her membership card to the cashier to scan and she paid for the first set of groceries (for our business) with our business card as usual. Then my sister walked away with my phone after scanning her membership card again so I could then use her phone to pay for the rest of her groceries. When I went to use her Apple Pay and put in her pin. the EXTREMELY RUDE cashier DAYSI J. accused me of using my phone for a transaction for me. I guess they were assuming that I was using her Costco card to buy groceries for myself, but we politely explained that wasn't the case, and I even showed the cashier that she was talking on my phone and we were using her phone to pay as usual. Instead of believing us and moving forward with the transaction, Daysi J. (and another younger woman I don't know her name) spent 5+ additional minutes, aggressively screaming at and berating us for trying to "scam the system". It was SO awkward that even the people standing in line behind us apologized to us for how the women were treating us and moved to a different line. Eventually a Male security guard, or manager maybe, came up to us and we calmly explained the situation to him, and he told Daysi J. to continue ringing us up because he realized that we were not trying to scam the system and obviously we were just using two separate cards for business purposes. To sum it all up, Daysi J. Absolutely needs to be retrained and given a talk about proper customer service because Her attitude was absolutely disgusting and unacceptable. If Daysi were my employee I would fire her on the spot for treating a customer this way. Daysi J. made me absolutely never want to come back to this location ever again. As a sidenote, the man who checked our receipts at the door, I think his name was Tony, was absolutely wonderful and so kind. read more

There isn't anything lacking from Costco. They sell everything or so it seems. They have optical department where you get affordable eye glasses frames and prescription lenses. All kinds of electronics, appliances and gadgets. They even sell diamond jewelry from genuine to lab green diamonds. Then bulk groceries and wine. Large bakery and meats/seafood selection. Highly recommended prepared meals like my favorite soft tacos. Then who can resist the affordable food items you order and eat onsite like pizza, ceasar salad, chicken bake, sausage/hotdogs. There is more than you need in this huge place. Oh and don't forget to fill up Costco gas for the week. read more

I would always hear good things about Costco from my mother, how everything is cheaper, better food quality and choices. Every time I would go to my parent's house I would always snack on their food and would always ask them where they get their food or a certain item from the house and the answer is always Costco. Let me tell you that everything above is correct but........ due it being the only Costco in the area unless you wanna cross the bridge the hype isn't worth it. Update: Visited the Norfolk store today with my concerns regarding the recall. I ask for a manager and they sent her right over. She could not have been nicer or more accommodating! She immediately gave me a visitors pass and allowed me to use the credit in-store. When I arrived at the register to pay- she appeared again, and very professionally and seamlessly processed my transaction. In addition - they were swamped as usual- but the warehouse was very organized, clean and the associates were very friendly. I don't see how they could have made my experience better! Bravo! Ok Costco!, thanks for nothing! After purchasing a set of phone chargers from Costco, I received a recall letter letting me know they could explode in my face. The letter instructed me to return the chargers to the Warehouse for a refund credit. After waiting on hold for an hour for someone to explain to me, if I was no longer a member and wouldn't be able to use a credit voucher- they would mail me a check. After packing the explosives in a lead package and taking the time to drive to ship them- Costco sends me a credit voucher from their store as a refund??? Pretty sure we cleared that trainwreck up on the hour long conversation with customer service. Total waste of valuable time and money! Where is my cash refund Costco. I'm not going to lie - the parking lot situation here is not good. It's difficult to get in, difficult to get out and even worse trying to walk through all the traffic to get in and out of the store. Once you're inside, it's a good medium sized Costco. They have all the usual products you'd expect although aisles are a little tight. Lines tend to be long at checkout, especially on the weekend. Gas lines are also long, pretty much any time and the gas station line winds through the parking lot. I'm there more often for gas than groceries and never found a less than twenty minute wait. Staff both in store and at the gas station are friendly and helpful and gas prices are usually the cheapest around. read more

Figured I would update my review now since I am actually a member now...(whoopsy!). So first off, I would HIGHLY recommend not coming here on a weekend. It is unbelievably busy and super crowded - avoid at all costs to come during peak hours. With that said, I did come on a Wednesday morning one time and it was still surprisingly a bit crowded but not as bad as a weekend. Their selection of food here is very seasonal and or limited in quantity. Bring back more ASIAN snacks and food items please!!! Especially referencing those huge back of shrimp chips. I will say though that their selection of frozen foods and snack items appeal to us a bit more than Sam's club. Especially during the recent Chinese New Year celebration, we were able to score some really delicious Asian branded food items, like the fly by jing chili oil! The store location here feels a bit more cramped, but it's maybe due to the amount of people that are normally here and it feels smaller? They usually have samples which is awesome to try while food shopping. SN: had their $10 pepperoni pizza for the first time and it SLAPS. Get it, it's a good deal and tastes great! read more

Would you believe me if I said I've only been to Costco twice, ever? The first time it was so crowded, I believe it was payday for the military and I was overwhelmed and stressed with the kids. We didn't look at everything and promptly left. Today was my second time thanks to my brother. He got a membership and brought us. He raves about all sorts of items and figured we'd grab some for ourselves to test the water again. They're super similar to Sam's Club. They did have a better selection of goodies, but I don't think it swayed me enough to get my own membership. We came pretty close to opening and the staff today was rude and attitudinal. The only kind person we encountered was the woman greeting us when entering. The self check out woman was snooty and down right nasty. I wish I got her name. The ladies sampling items didn't say a word to us and looked annoyed, and honestly I just really didn't enjoy the vibes here. To preface this review: we are very active members of Costco. We ordered 4 tires that were not in stock so they had to be ordered. Our appointment was 2 pm with a time frame of 60-90 minutes. This was a bonus for us since we do our shopping here anyway. We got back about 3:30 and had to wait another 45 minutes. Although we had to wait longer, I noticed how efficiently the man at the front desk was running the operation. He was very professional and courteous with the customers. My tires were new again and we are some happy customers! Oh, when tires are bought they will receive free rotations, nitrogen-filled air, and hazard care.
