Arrived to the automotive section. Asked about changing the battery. Two hours later still waiting for someone to even bring my car to a bay to change the battery. A five minute job really. They don't take same day appointments, all walk-ins wait no matter what they came for. Work is not organized or prioritized. Information regarding this is not told to you when you ok the work to be done .. On top of that no one keeps you informed if you are waiting in the area for your vehicle. So if you are traveling and on the road and need a battery or a tire looked at, probably want yo go somewhere else. You could be waiting 3 or 4 hours for a 10 minute job. Very disappointed. This is Walmart in every sense of the word - certainly not the best one I've ever been to, but not the kind where I feel as if I need to take a shower after I leave. You'll see all kinds of people here buying all kinds of things. We came here for groceries, mainly because in this general vicinity there aren't a whole helluva lot of well-stocked grocery stores. This one did fit the bill, although we mainly shopped in the grocery, dairy and deli area. Produce is marginal and we didn't buy any meats. Decent selection of various items where we did shop, though, so for that I was grateful. Not a fan of Walmart, but every now and then you don't have much choice due to limited availability of other stores. That is definitely the case with this location. If there was a viable alternative, I would have availed myself of that because the lack of quality in certain areas of the grocery section prevent you from getting everything you may need - particularly in the produce and bakery section. Yes, lots of parking. Yes, some of the prices are very reasonable. Yes, they do tend to carry more variety than any other local grocery store. Those are the reasons for the 3 stars. Nothing above and beyond, that is for sure. read more

I'm not exactly a Wal-martian (I just came up with this term and no you can't steal it), but the hubs and I needed stuff while on vacation and came here. We were surprised by how clean and neat everything was. The lady at the self-checkout even talked to us and told us which machines were cash only. (In south Florida, I've tried to get help at self checkout but the girl couldn't be bothered to look up from her phone.) We mostly purchased foodstuffs so I can't comment on the rest of the store, but it was actually a good experience and while visiting I would definitely return here. read more

I would give negative stars if I could. If you want to be skipped over, ignored and treated like crap, this is the place to go. I went to the automotive department to get a pair of high beam headlights for the wives car, and was completely ignored by Virgil, and the other employee who wasn't wearing a name take just decides to ignore my existence and help his fellow coworker get her kids car into the bay to get it serviced. I had to find a third employee to help me from another department who directed me to the right person to get help. Tried to get a manager to complain to, but of course, they are to busy to be of concerned about it. read more

I'm bored so thought I'd update my Wal-Mart post. Most often I am in and out fairly quick. Unlike my wife who needs panty hose, garden hose, and pretty much one or two of everything on sale, I'm there mostly for food or household supplies. Also I've been shopping with my neighbor who is slower than I am. In my idle time observations I notice there are no longer greeters. They are now stock people and do other jobs. My dream job gone! What I have noticed is they are trying to get the check out lines shorter by adding clerks more often. How long this will last I don't know but I hate to wait. I'd rather be home playing on my computer. So if those long lines bothered you try again. read more

The Chiefland Walmart was "updated" this past year. I guess the small town atmosphere didn't make the grade. Now it is like every other factory style super store. So, where I loved shopping there in the "family friendly" super Walmart, it is like every other Sams, or Costco. Hard to find what I want and need unless I walk around forever and ask a bunch of employees where everything is. Yes...I will eventually get used to the "new"......but that doesn't mean I will enjoy going there like I used to. read more

Great store, I shop here all the time, I buy a lot from the deli, they are great, the deli staff is friendly and they treat me right. I'll always shop there. Walmart has always treated me well, and in return I do the majority of my shopping there. I always will. Better than any other Walmart in our area. This is a Walmart Super-center, as are the 3 others, but this one has a good stock/supply level. Is clean and easy to access. Only 4 stars because at times lines at check out are long, but,staff is fairly quick checking you out and it can be hard to find assistance in some areas of the store. We make our big supply runs to this store only. read more

Really disappointed this morning when I went in to the Auto Service Center seeking and oil change and tire rotation for my wife's vehicle. Wanted a High Mileage Oil change, a small upgrade from the standard oil change. Was told that they would have to charge me $10 more than the price on the wall behind the man because they would have to use "bottled" oil as they were out of the High Mileage oil. I guess that it was nice to say so up front BUT if you have that service advertised all over your facility for $35.88, you probably should have the product to perform the service at the listed price. Was a little put out by this. I stated that this is "insanity" and went up the road and got the oil change for $29.99. Was very disappointed. read more

what has happened to Walmart? went yesterday about 12 noon- what a Horrible experience!! it was pretty busy for a Monday- Only 2 Lanes Open- I will not use self service! Got in line behind 6 more angry customers- had to get out of line because I forgot something- decided to use front restroom- OMG !! Only 2 stalls were open the others had out of order signs on them- the 2 that were open were very nasty- they were used over and over and not flushed- I tried to flush one and another woman told me they would not flush- she was standing there with hand soap all over her hands in disgust- she was going to wash her hands no running water- so she went to grab paper towels- no paper towels So how in a restroom have no running water to flush or to wash your hands no paper towels and the store manager hasn't fixed the problem or at least close this disgusting bathroom!! I told 4 employees in the front end no knew about the bathroom and acted like I was bothering them!! And what is with all of the empty shelves? For the last couple of months they are always empty!! iS WALMART IN TROUBLE!!!!! GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER WALMART!!! read more

We took our son to the hair salon at chiefland walmart tonight at 6:30. It was great, Joe was the only worker in there so it was quiet. My son is autistic and people and noise make his anxiety high. Joe didn't push conversation, he just let him relax. He was awesome! I can't thank him enough. I recommend him to everyone and the haircut was great too!! read more

I live in FT Lauderdale but visit Chiefland at least 90 days total each year because I also have a place there. The store has some very good cashiers(like Edna)who are very helpful. Like any store they have some people who are not helpful at all. Overall it is a pretty good place to shop. Remember they have no stores that can compete with them in the area. Calvin Howe read more

It sure would be nice to be able to walk into Walmart, head down, minding your own business, ready to give Walmart business, not bothering a soul, not dressed inappropriately, without somebody snapping something hurtful about your appearance to your face. Twice this has happened to me within the past year. My head was down so I did not look at his face, but I think it was the same man. Is this Walmart's fault? I guess not, but I think it is part of my customer experience here, and I think it is relevant to just warn you that it may happen to you at this particular Walmart so be prepared if you are not a young supermodel and just going inside to give a store business. This Walmart is as well-stocked as any, and the employees at checkout and back in the deli are nice in my experience, typical wait lines are long, but customers ought to be able to walk inside without having their feelings hurt. I find that DENNY S. is not at all kind or respectful when he mocks somebody for having their feelings hurt, when he says that rednecks have more kindness in one finger than city slickers. I hope he and this 'greeter' at Walmart are not representative of people in Chiefland, Florida. read more
