Do you need coconuts? Bicycle pumps? Turkeys? Well, my friend, you will not be looking further than Walmart Supercenter in Cranberry. As I quickly approach the next chapter of my ephemeral, yet extraordinary life, my future home needs the basic and not so basic essentials. The worst part about this place is that it won't come with me to Pickleston, West Vlasicnia. The cashiers are friendly, but some move their arms at the same speed as a penny laying on the floor. I decided to use the self checkout to expedite my dinner plate ownership. Some of the shoppers in there make my Amish friend smell great, so apparently Dial and Suave haven't made their way to their shopping carts for years. The parking lot makes me sweat like a tree next to a chainsaw, but the parking lines are bright and vibrant. I'll be back when I need to buy used toothpicks.

Located off of busy Perry Highway, this is your typical Walmart, with the slow and loud Mediclinics Speedflow hand dryers, huge grocery department, two exterior entrances, and large amount of shoppers. What else can I say other than it's a Walmart off of a major roadway?

It's your normal huge busy super Walmart but they have a really large parking lot that has a strange set up I think a lot of trucks and travelers stop for the night since it's on the main highway to Pittsburgh. Inside was normal I have no complaints it's just always a long walk from the parking lot to the end of the store to buy water but I like the self checkouts.

Handicap area and large crosswalk on the home and pharmacy side of the location

Dare I even tell you. Wal-Mart never fails at disappointing me. Messy, disorganized and understaffed. The parking lot was full, I don't think all these people are here for the view. People are obviously here to buy something, and I know Wal-Mart is making a profit.... why can't they employee more people and contribute to our pockets? The good things I like about this Wal-Mart is that it had a bank "woodforest" that's nice. Also the crosswalks in front of the store are very large and allow for many pedestrians. The outside of the store is up to date.

Sausage, roasts, soup bones, meat sticks, chicken, stuffed banana peppers and mushrooms, and many other meats were available. I asked if they had bison. The person helping me said they only had a little bit left. She showed me more bison ground meat and steaks than I have ever seen in one place. She said they butchered a bison and this was all that was left. I stocked up. I look forward to going back and stocking my freezer. Note: They are closed on Sundays.

Their Delmonico steak and hot sausage is some of the best I have ever tasted. I can always count on their produce being higher quality than most stores around here. It's a pleasure to shop there as it's always really clean and well lit. My favorite part of shopping there are the employees, the sons and their wives. Everyone is happy, courteous, helpful and genuine. Though there have been months between visits (health issues keep me home), they always greet me by name and for this elderly lady that's pretty special. You would think their prices are higher due to the quality, but they are really reasonable. Glad my son turned me on to Henry's, Mimi Hauss

The store is also sort of depressing in a way that it's hard to explain without being there yourself. That said, I only knocked off one star for that because the rest of the items they carry (dry goods, snacks, frozen, and a small selection of prepared foods) were well stocked, VERY reasonably priced, and the household items they have (it's understandably "hit and miss" with what they will have in stock at any given time) are crazy inexpensive and amazing deals. They had a huge flip top/step on Kitchen trash bin which you'd normally pay $70 to $120 for (based on my research and shopping around) for $19.99!!!! I'm sad to say I didn't grab one at the time but planned to go back the following day when I have more space in my car. Sadly they were completely sold out when I went back (it was my own fault!). All that to say, as long as you know what to expect at Aldi and what kind of things you should shop for there, this is a great place to shop

They keep expanding their menu offerings. I decided to try a burger for the first time, but I'd give that a 2 out of 5 stars. The burger itself seemed like it had been already cooked and sitting under a heat lamp, because it was quite dried out and well done. The bun and the toppings were fine, and the onion petals that came with it were actually quite tasty & very hot. I also took a chance and got their flatbread/pizza and I was expecting it to not be very good, but I was pleasantly surprised that the sauce was actually very flavorful and they put the pepperoni underneath the cheese and it was covered with a very good amount of cheese, so I was actually surprised that I enjoyed that. It was 4 square slices so plenty. Sheetz is basically one of your only choices where you can still get food after a certain hour (9pm) when all the other bars and restaurants kitchens are closed in Cranberry Township. I don't eat there often, but it will suffice in a pinch.

Many products are sold in a large size and would be more appropriate for restaurant owners to buy, but many other products are a perfect size for my household of two people. The quality of the products is very high, and the prices are usually lower than what I have seen at competing retailers. I like this Costco's meats, fishes, fruits, vegetables, cereals, canned sodas, laundry detergent, dish detergent, contact solution, toilet paper, paper towels, dog treats, dog pads, etcetera. During my most recent visit, I stocked up on groceries. At the cash register, two employees politely and accurately served me, scanning my merchandise, unloading and reloading my shopping cart, and processing my payment.

Food Court Needs Attention!…read more The Good: The pizza has definitely improved, especially the whole pepperoni pizza. It used to be dry, and the cheese did not taste very good. Now, the cheese tastes much better, and the overall quality has improved. Thank you! Needs Improvement: 1. Customer Service Customer service is very hit or miss. Some employees are excellent, while others are not. Please keep the service more consistent. I recently encountered an employee who was extremely rude and disrespectful. After a few interactions with customers, she ran back to the back, leaving me and other customers confused. She was not wearing a name tag (please require all employees to wear name tags), so I had to take a picture because I did not know her name. 2. The Legendary Hot Dog Combo The hot dog combo is the main reason, and honestly the first reason I purchased an Executive Membership at Costco, and I'm sure many other members feel the same way. I am not sure about other Costco locations, but I feel the quality of the hot dog combo has been declining at this location. I have seen employees handle hot dogs without maintaining proper glove hygiene countless times, especially during busy hours. For example, they would clean tables or handle cups, boxes, trays, or other items, then immediately use the same gloves to grab a hot dog and place it into the bun without changing their gloves. On one occasion, I and several other customers even witnessed a hot dog fall onto the table, almost drop on the floor. An employee picked it up and placed it into a bun. That was very disturbing to see. There were several hot dogs prepared at the time, so none of us knew who would receive the one that had fallen. The employee involved (a different one) was also not wearing a name tag. I understand that the food court gets very busy, but please take the time to follow proper food safety practices. Most customers would rather wait a little longer for clean, safe food than receive it quickly if there is a risk of contamination. 3. The Soda The fountain soda has also become noticeably weaker. I'm not sure whether the syrup-to-water ratio has changed or if there is another issue with the machine, but it no longer tastes like soda - it tastes mostly like water. Final Thoughts I understand that the $1.50 hot dog and soda combo may not generate much profit and may even operate at a loss. However, it has become a Costco tradition and one of the company's most iconic products. It is a major reason many people, including me, choose to shop at Costco. In that sense, the combo is an incredibly smart marketing strategy. Even if the item itself is not highly profitable, it brings customers into the warehouse, where they end up purchasing many other products (membership fee as well). Please continue to protect the quality of this iconic offering by maintaining high food safety standards and providing consistent customer service. Thank you.
