It's Walmart and some locations are a hit or miss. But this location wasn't. It's well stocked and organized. Good variety of fresh fruits and veggies. Love the new layout that Walmart . They have some really nice home decor items and the displays make you want to buy one of everything. I purchased wall plug in refills from their home collection, and the scents smell amazing. I'm disappointed that their refills cartridges aren't universal so i can use them with my other plug bin. So i have to either buy Walmart's plug in or just use the oil in my oil burner. The workers were friendly. I didn't like that they were restocking or moving product around during busy store hours and on a Saturday. They should wait until later in the day to move product around and restock. read more

It's Walmart ! Not too much to say. I did find some new fragrance soaps I'm interested in, some smell good scrubs, great desserts and fresh veggies and fruit. This store was very crowded and too much inventory being moved around during business hrs in my opinion. Every direction was a new bed of items being pushed in your direction. My shopping experience was pretty much dodging the inventory staff and moving out the way. This store needs and overnight inventory shift . The positive of this is at least the product is coming in at this location. Others stores I have been too shelves are bare!!! Every single time I go to check out using the self check out I go to insert my card and it gives me an error repeatedly. It then tells me to swipe and does the same thing over and over again. This not only happens at this Walmart but as well as the wood river Walmart. It then eventually takes my card only 10 minutes later. Gets old! read more

Can I give a negative star review for the auto center? Three times in a row they have acted like they don't give a damn. All three times I have walked out on them. Two previous times they claimed to be bidet with no cars in the back lot and only one or two cars in the bay. Today I asked about an oil change. The first lady I talked to was fine. The guy would not even give a ballpark estimate on time. He could "only tell me there were two cars in front of me" . I simple asked so are we talking an hour? I said I would not hold him to it. He again "we are not allowed to give estimates " . You know how long an oil change takes so yes you can give an estimate. That tells you they do not give a damn. Basically like we are so busy we do not need your business. The auto center in Highland is 1000% more professional. read more

I live in Collinsville but much prefer the Walmart in Glen Carbon over both Walmart and Market in Collinsville. Glen Carbon is cleaner, more organized, easier to maneuver, the staff seem friendlier, the lines move faster and I feel safer. They are rarely out of items I am looking for. Would absolutely go anywhere else for your auto care. The first experience they had drained my oil without checking first to see if they had the proper oil filter. I had to run to autozone twice to pick up the correct one. The next issue was getting my tires rotated and I had purposely skipped lunch so I could stop back around at a time that was supposed to be slow. Waited at hour only to discover that they had not yet even started to rotate my tires. I'm now late for 2 clients. read more

I love the fact that all of the staff, even though they are just as restricted from covid as everyone else. The bathrooms are kept clean and the cashiers are always friendly. I usually go at odd times so it's not crazy busy. This store thinks you steal. I think it is completely offensive to ask someone who just paid for their items to show a receipt. I had my 3 year old with me and I took him here to pick one toy. I went through the self checkout, paid and took 10 steps and was stopped to show my receipt. By stopping me to ask for my receipt I feel as if they are accusing me of stealing. If my kid didn't have his heart set in this toy I would have immediately turned around and returned it. I called the store over and over to try to get through to the manager but had to get the guys in automotive to get the manager on the phone. As I explained why I find it offensive and was asking for the information for the general manager she hung up on me. Not professional, completely rude and I feel as if I was profiled. They don't care how much money you spend in their store. They have no problem accusing people of stealing with no reason other than how you look. No other stores do this to people. Walmart only catches 5-10 percent of the theft in their stores so why treat people who work hard for their money and spend it here this way? They are too stupid or lazy to actually do the work that would catch thieves. Instead they assume we're all stealing and want to make a scene as you leave the store. Spend your money where they don't treat their customers this way. It's embarrassing and offensive and they did this in front of my kid. I would give negative one thousand stars if I could. Not only is this store always a wreck, but there is zero customer service. My son got a few outfits for Christmas from family that didn't fit. Their current store policy is no returns over $20 without a receipt. No exceptions. This is the most ridiculous policy I've ever heard of. It's not only inconvenient, but also no other store does this. A multi billion dollar company is doing nothing for the public during a pandemic other than making life harder for customers trying to return things, and underpaying their employees by astronomical amounts. I have always disliked Walmart and I am not a regular shopper, but after today I will not spend another penny in a Walmart or a Walmart owned company for the rest of my life. They installed new tires and valve stems on my sons equinox. When a valve stem went bad they refused to replace it.

I bought some new headlights for my car & took the lights I pre-purchased to Walmart's auto center so they could install them for me. It generally doesn't take long to install new headlights, but for some reason it took them 45 minutes to install the headlights. They were not busy at all & had my car sitting in the garage finished for about 15 minutes before they remembered to come get us. BUT, that's not even the worst part- the next day I took my car to Valvoline for an oil change & when they popped the hood my old head lights were just sitting in there. Like come on people. It took you 45 minutes to change my headlights & you couldn't even do a good job?? The one star is for the person at the help desk because he was friendly. All in all, don't go to Walmart for good car service. read more

I tried to buy a cell phone and the guy at the electronics counter had absolutely no idea what he was talking about. We were talking In circles and he kept changing the story when i asked him questions about the phone. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! I Went early this morning to do Thanksgiving shopping and then waited with many other customers 35 minutes for a checker. Management knew of the problem and did nothing to help. When a manager finally came to check, so offered no apology and was a little rude. She said they plan to get rid of all manned checkouts in the near future. WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO CUSTOMER SERVICE?? Not everyone wants to do this themselves. Six cashier and all self checkouts. Then seven or eight of those are down. You have to do the work now and still have to wait 10-15 minutes In line. What a joke this has become. They need to start giving us all 1092 forms for doing the work for them. It's not like they are lowering the price in all the labor they are saving. I received an e-mail from Walmart indicating the package that was due to arrive did not. The tracking site said it did. I called the pickup department at the Glen-Ed superstore and explained the situation. Karen N. said she would try to find out what happened and call me back. I figured I would not receive a return call and would have to go to the store to get help. However, Karen called me back in about 15 minutes. She had found the shipment and it was ready for pickup. She was very nice while talking to me. She was not only personable but she did one heck of a good job. I find most employees at this store are friendly and willing to help. read more

I've had no issues at the Glen Carbon Walmart. In fact, Skip, was very helpful to me when I had a question. He even took the time to walk around with me for a few minutes and ask what I liked about the deli department, what I didn't like, what I bought the most of and so forth. I know that he's given our schools donations and discounts when we order things from there. It is like anyplace else, however, sometimes you get a grumpy employee and sometimes you get a great employee. For the most part, I've never had issues with this particular store. The O'Fallon Walmart though...heeber jeebers! I was so frustrated by the time I got to the checkout, I was ready to walk out. I stood in line for a while and then the woman slapped the "Lane Closed" sign right in front of me and walked off without a word. At least at Glen Carbon they put the signs up and give you warnings, like "I'm closing right after this customer. I'm sorry." This lady just slapped the sign down right under my nose and walked off. I sat my merchandise on the floor right there and walked out the door. I'll choose Glen Carbon any day of the week! read more
