It's way more "manageable" than bigger H-E-Bs, & while they might not have the obscure organics or artisanal offerings of a Central Market or other H-E-B's, this store is a hidden gem. The shelves are always stocked, the aisles are always clear, & the associates are always happy & quick to help. I pretty much know where everything is, but the few times I've wandered aimlessly looking for something, fellow shoppers -- mostly older & wiser -- have helped me find whatever it is I'm hunting down. I've always preferred small grocery stores to large ones, & I really have a soft spot for this one. Maybe because I grew up in the area, or maybe I just like how leisurely a shopping trip here is; I enjoy my time spent here, & I think it's a nice change of pace from the Walmarts & Targets of the world. A pro-tip: the H-E-B app is a great help for a store as condensed as this one (& any H-E-B in general). It tells you aisle by aisle if they have something you want in stock, so you can save time, gas, & energy if you need something in a pinch.

Since we were in Cuero at the Walmart down the street, we stopped in for a couple of items that Walmart didn't have. The store was beautiful, clean, and very well laid out. Maybe we should have stopped in here first. Anyway, we both found what we were looking for at prices comparable to other big box retailers. The service at the check out was quick and painless as well. The cherry on the cake was grabbing corn dog samples on the way to the check out area. It hit the spot as I hadn't eaten lunch yet. Ha ha! This pharmacy does not give you any discounts whatsoever or use coupons. They also don't pay attention on my case they did not. They were negligent in the fact that they have filled prescriptions for me. The same prescriptions for a while and I have always been on muscle relaxers because I have several physical conditions that require me to take them. Due to a urinary tract infection my doctor also prescribed a prescription of Bactrim DS. Bactrim DS amplifiers muscle relaxers like tizanadine and can cause you to overdose. My dr didn't catch it, now did the pharmacy. There is no warning label onto tizanadine nor Bactrim to tell you. When I called the complain to the pharmacy, I was met with coldness and constant justification from both the corporation and the local office. I'm happy to say that transferring my prescriptions over to my insurance company is now not taking any money from my pocket and because of this I won't trust Heb anymore and I'm looking for a new doctor. If you're not your own guardian and advocate, no one will be. The mistakes like this can be deadly.

An amazing older local gal tugged a massive collection of catalogs out out for us and helped me find exactly what I wanted, arranged the delivery to the store, offered to help us prep the bouquets, etc. She helped me design them, too, suggesting that I'd appreciate some fronds and other filler that complemented the blooms so well. She special ordered exactly what we wanted, and we paid $100 for it all! Calm, beautiful desert and chaparral flowers. I had a second cousin who worked in the bridal industry for a bit help me wrap bouquets, fix boutonnieres, and arrange all the flowery bits. I'll never forget laughing with my bridal party as we wrapped those flowers the night before. :) My mom ended up deciding the night before that she wanted another $100 in flowers to fill the ceremony room, and found a truly insane quantity in the same flower department at Brookshire's! I wish I could post my wedding portraits here. The store is a bit small for my spoiled Austinite self, but the staff has so much TLC and a handy attitude. :)
