I shop at Walmart all the time. The staff is friendly, helpful and I find what I need. Great store.

There was a time when Macy's, Nordstrom, Saks, etc. were about on par with each other. That time…read morehas passed. Clothing is always strewn everywhere, shelves are disorganized, and the words "neat and tidy" have no connection to this retailer. Imagine shelves of stacked shirts; someone pulls one out from the bottom, opens it up, and then shoves it back on top of the stack wadded up. No,w repeat that with the next one on the bottom, etc., and that is pretty much how the shelves are. The racks are the same, with stuff on the floors, hanging over the top of the racks, hanging by one end of a hanger, etc. Even the jewelry and watches in cases are not neat or aligned. Finding an employee here is like panning for gold in the Pacific Ocean, which is probably why nobody is around to clean things up. Finding a cashier is even more challenging than that. And when you do find an open cashier, expect silly lines. On this visit, there was a place with 3 cash registers but only 1 cashier and 9 people in line in front of us. Macy's is trying to emulate WalMart and doing a fine job. The only reason we stayed in line was that our granddaughter ate a bite of a lollipop so we needed to pay for it. We have stopped going to Macy's; this was the last time we went to one. Pretty much the only thing you find there now is store brands and clutter. You are better off going to Nordstrom, Saks, Neiman Marcus, or smaller stores like Black Market, White House, Ann Taylor, Talbot's, etc. Two stars and sadness at what this brand has become.

Went back to the store and at first it was an apology, and ended with store credit. Had no option for my money back. Wasn't about the money, but customer respect. Don't blame any of the sales associates, but WOW. Never had anything like this happen before with online shop through a brand like MACYS.

As soon as I knew I was moving to Greensboro, I looked for some of my favorite national chains and…read morefound them right here. The first place worth mentioning is REI. I usually park nearby, peruse the garage sale items, then go on a stroll around the whole shopping center. While I do like Whole Foods and will go there for certain specialty items, I tend to spend a little less at the gigantic Harris Teeter. There's a huge selection of clothing stores, you can get a legit (if pricey) massage at Hand and Stone, get your haircut, see a movie, and grab a great dinner from a wide range of restaurant options. This might be the most upscale shopping center in town.

In the 80s and 90s, the mall we went to the most in Greensboro was Four Seasons Mall (now Four…read moreSeasons Town Centre). It went downhill and beginning in the 2000s, we went to Friendly Center instead. This has been a general trend in America where people have shifted from going to traditional indoor malls to outdoor malls, some integrated with mixed-use developments and/or repurposed sites. Funny thing is Friendly Center has been around since 1957 and Four Seasons 1974. Both have changed over the years, for better or for worse. I came here multiple times with friends and family in 2008 and 2009. With my friends, we'd go to stores like REI, Great Outdoor Provision Co, and Barnes & Noble. It was around these years that I picked up a MacBook for my mom from the Apple Store. She returned several times for One to One trainings on how to use various Apple devices. Since 2018, I've been going to Friendly Center for Schiffman's Jewelers, for the most part. That's because I got my wife's engagement ring and wedding band from Schiffman's and have returned for inspections and cleanings. We returned just a few weeks ago to see Frances, who just celebrated 45 years at Schiffman's. Last month, I accompanied my wife and sister to Sephora and Anthropologie. Other brands that were or still are of interest to me at Friendly Center include Brooks Brothers and lululemon. There are also a Whole Foods Market and Williams-Sonoma. Friendly Center was sort of patchworked together over the years, so the design and routing aren't ideal and getting around can be confusing. It would be nice if there were maps of the property on-site, but we didn't see any during our recent visit. Also, at the time of writing this review, the map on their website is down. "Couldn't fetch map data." https://friendlycenter.com/directory Depending on what section of Friendly Center you're in, it's sometimes better to get back in your car and drive to another store than it is to walk. This is because of the awkward, inefficient layout and lack of sidewalks. Again, not ideal. The brands are the draw. Check out Friendly Center on Facebook and Instagram at the links below. Gone are the days when we used to kill time in Food Courts and browsing the aisles at Sam Goody and Tower of Records. We visited this mall while attending a basketball tournament. The team decided since we had a 3 hour window between our next game, we should stroll the mall, get our steps in. As loving teen parents, we agreed. This mall is very well kept. They offer a mix old and new stores. Hollister, American Eagle, Dillards, Victoria's Secret, PacSun. An oldie but goodie, JC Penney. A major issue for me during this visit, was the air conditioning. It's over 80 degrees in Greensboro, get the HVAC tech please. Aside from that, we had a lovely shopping experience.

Four Seasons Town Centre is three stories with a lot of stores. The mall felt open with the three stories, and you could see the stores above. There were elevators and escalators to reach the other floors. The skulights allowed natural light inside. The mall was busier than I expected for a weekday. Dillards and JCPenney are the main anchors, and there are smaller stores like American Eagle and Bath and Body Works. I didn't see many empty storefronts, but I just stayed on the first level. I didn't want to walk too much with my knee.
