A ginormous SHOUT OUT to Jacole at the MAC counter! I purchased a lipstick online and I HATED it! I love a nude lip, but this one was NOT it!!!! I went to the MAC counter in desperate need of help! I got MISS JACOLE and she went to work to get me right!!! She sat me down, gave me a liner and asked me to line my lip, I did, Jacole took the pencil and from there, it was MAGIC!!!! Let me tell you, you couldn't tell me NOTHING about my lips when she was done. Yeah, I was definitely feeling myself...lol. It's amazing what a bit of artistry can do! Belks can vary greatly in quality based on the location. At least, that is our experience. I like this one. Unlike other locations, they have 2 separate buildings, one for clothes and one for home goods. Their selection is generally very good. Plus, each time we've been there, they had plenty of cashiers. Yay! And like other Belks, you can find d good deals every so often. It would be nice if Belks would expand a little on the brands they carry. read more

Store is clean. There were many employees and most were very friendly and greeted me as I walked around. I can't complain about the selections as they are dictated by the main office. The prices have increased just like everything else. I did notice that the Kim Roger's clothing was nowhere to be found. Not sure what happened. I visited here around 6:35pm on a Sunday afternoon to help my brother shop for a beige suit jacket and a vest to match with some pants he already had. Google said they closed at 8, but they really cloSed at 7pm. They had a decent size area but not many beige colors or vest. My brother found a jacket was pretty close but it was like $90, even with 30% off, so he didn't get it. What's up with places not having beige stuff?! This was the same for a Macys and JCPENNEY. Nonetheless, his girlfriend saw a few things and got them. On the Belk app, they had several coupons available. While checking out, the lady REPEATEDLY tried to get my brothers girlfriend to open a belk credit card after declining. She legit asked 3-4 more times. I noticed it but kept it to myself but I knew it wasn't just me when my brother said something. Belk in Greensboro gets a 2 star rating - because they have decent product selection in the downstairs mens department. Customer service however SUCKS. And the retail folks wonder why we don't go to brick and mortar stores any more. I went in Sunday eve (12/8) 7pm. very few customers. Why are there no clearks with name tags and professionally dressed? No one to help me. I saw a couple folks folding clothes so I asked for help. They tole me they were in 'reclaimation' not customer service. They had baggy jeans and sweatshirt on - no name tags! One sent me to the fitting room to try on a sweater. Total filth. All trashed up. Not been mopped in weeks! Dust bunnies all over the place and packing materials all over the floor! Disgusting! Finally tracked down someone with a name tag - actually made them do some work and ring up my one sweater! Hopefully I don't have to go back! read more

WARNING! ladies DO NOT buy any of their vintage bags. I bought a Louis Vuitton crossbody. I paid 1037.00 for it. 4 weeks later the straps ripped. One came completely off. It's useless to me now. I can't carry it. They Don't tell you to look closely at them (like the woman said to me when I called to report what had happened) their were NO signs. Only one that said vintage purses. AFTER I bought the purse the receipt said NO REFUNDS OR EXCHANGES. I asked the lady for my cover bag for the LV. She said. It's in there. Let me preface by saying I had a long time relationship with them. My first purchases there was when Belk was downtown on the Square. For over thirty years I'd been buying at Friendly Center location. Sadly yesterday was my last attempt to support them. I went to buy two pairs of trousers and four dress shirts. The store is so crowded and when I was able to ask for assistance none was available. The "cashier " simply said "over there " as he pointed in a vague direction. To keep this brief. There is no longer any semblance of customer service. The two gentlemen could have cared less. The garment selections were a shadow of what was available just a very short time ago. Overall it appeared to have adopted the discount store business model: everything cheap, discount service (when, if ever available) and a simple lack of interest in general for the customer. I was amazed when I asked if there were fitting room accommodations for persons with disabilities, such as myself in fact. He actually had to pause to answer my question. I asked this before I looked for my first item. All in all I would recommend against wasting your time there and shop where the customer is valued. read more

Free-standing Belks in Friendly Center, with the Belks Home Store right across the street (because I had no idea). Parking was manageable and there are plenty of spots, but you may have to walk a distance depending on when you're visiting. The store seemed clean and has plenty merchandise. This Belks is pretty crowded inside - product wise. Every department seems so cramped and some walkways are pretty narrow. I was not greeted by a single worker, even though they took the time to look and stare at me. I didn't care to stay inside at all. read more

Today's purchase and visit started badly but all's well that ends well. I tried to order online and apply the coupons and pickup discount. The problem was that the replacement card I just received would not work, specifically the security code in the back. I called the number on the back and the first person couldn't help. All of a sudden I'm transferred to someone else unaware. I asked why she transferred me and he said "I have no idea". I called and got another person and her connection was so bad that I could hear her at all. I went to the store asked for a manager who came and helped me find the items and then told me to go a cashier to apply the online discounts. I had quite possibly the WORST experience with the sales person that was covering Chanel (she was the Bobbi Brown sales person covering the Chanel sales person who was our; also this lady has like dyed red hair). I went in wanting to replace my foundation and buy a few things. When I was looking the sales person came over and asked if I needed help and I mentioned that I did I was just wanting to buy a bunch of stuff to replace somethings I had. I'm not kidding when I say she looked me up and down and said "Chanel is sold out of everything, you should go online and order. They can help you". I'll admit I was dressed pretty casual but still. Mind you she didn't even check to see if they were out of stock she just said, "they're sold out go online". SUPER DISMISSIVELY; rude. I ask again if she's sure and she's just telling me to go online and that, "I cannot help you" and goes back to where the Bobbi Brown register is and is texting on her phone. I would have chalked it up to her maybe having a bad day except an older woman came up and all of a sudden this sales person is super bubbly and helpful. So much for customer service. I went back later with my sister to see if she'd help me or help my sister, she saw us and went back to her phone and when my sister asked if she could get help, she completely ignored her and acted as if she didn't hear her. I spoke to a manager later who seemed apologetic and said they weren't sold out and that the sales person could order things for me. Honestly, despite her assurance that this will be addressed I won't be back, ever. I'd rather drive to Durham to the Chanel counter there where they are not only super helpful but understanding and won't make a customer feel like a nuisance or like my money isn't good enough. read more

I ordered several shirts for my husband on Belk's website. They didn't fit well so we took them back to the Greensboro store in the bag they came in. The clerk asked if we had the shipping label or confirmation email. No label was in the bag so I showed the email. She said since these were from the Marketplace they would have to be returned thru the mail! What???? I have had no luck calling the vendor and emailed them. They said I have to contact them thru marketplace messaging center! What is that?? If Belk wants to use 3rd party vendors, customers should be able to return in store AND BELK SHOULD HANDLE THE RETURN!! I will never order from them again, so frustrated! Went to Belk department store to return make up at the Mac Cosmetic Counter. Honestly, I'm a novice when it comes to the whole make up arena in regards to how to properly wear it, what to purchase and how to put your whole face together. The Young lady who serviced me was not at all interested in educating me although I was there to purchase the items I needed. No matter how many times I encouraged her that I was relying on her expertise and welcomed her advice, she just was not interested. She was not very helpful and waisted my time. Very disappointed; it took me six months to finally have the time to explore, and check this off my to do list! read more

if I could give a zero star review I would. I ordered a pick up order. I went through the steps after receiving the email that the order was ready. I arrived to the store and through the app let them know that I was here to sit, given the benefit of the doubt that, perhaps there were not enough workers for the day set for an hour but not before attempting to call the number that is located on the yellow sign several times with no answer. And then proceeded inside the store, where I was met with a greeter who instructed me to go over to the area for pick up there was no one in the area the greeter went and retrieve someone who I assume was inconveniently asked to do something she did not want to do. She proceeded to try to tell me what I should have done to let them know I was out outside and then instructed her that I was very aware what I should have done. she responded with well. This isn't my department. I'm just trying to help you. the level of rudeness and no concern for customers is beyond disbelief for me. read more

He is in love with the Biltmore Century ribbed towels, so he looked through some of them. We also looked at comforters, pillows, mixers, and more. In a last minute Shopping spree for funeral clothes for my sons ages 28 and 31, we went to Belks at Friendly. Bennie, in the mens department, could not have been more helpful. He was wonderful!! It was the end of the day and yet he was so personable and able to get the perfect appropriate clothes and he was so good with my sons. Belks is the best and Bennie deserves recognition. I also remember taking my boys to Belks 18 years ago to buy funeral clothes when my father died. I was quite stressed as well as having teenage sons to dress appropriately. As a longtime customer of Belk, I now see why department stores are failing - it's just poor management! Recently, I went into this Belk location to browse for some gifts with a 10% Clearance Shopping Pass and a Mystery Bonus Savings Scratch-off Coupon in hand. After finding a couple of handbags on sale in the Accessories dept., I got in line to checkout as the person ahead of me was having great difficulty. I soon discovered the nature of the difficulty - the associate was inadequately trained in the store's procedures coupled with NOT being a "people person." She did not know how to use my $50 Belk gift card, lied about knowing how to use my coupons which resulted in no discount whatsoever. As my transaction took much longer than normal, I had to rush out to make another appointment and did not realize her mistakes until later. I returned the following day only to have to deal with the very same associate. Only after much discussion did another associate appear and straightened out many of the issues from the previous day, despite the continual lies repeated by the original associate. It seems that Belk has taken deceptive and confusing sales practices to an entirely new level as, according to their sales associate, sales items can be on Clearance, Sale, or Super Sale, with a litany of other exclusions notwithstanding - all outlined in "mouse print" somewhere on the coupon, flyer, or circular. It seems that my items did not qualify for any additional discounts, but anyone would be hard pressed to note the differences or qualifiers on the coupons, store display, or items themselves. Also, the bathrooms at this store are, in a word, DISGUSTING, and have been for years now. It amazes me how they can be so dirty and lacking any supplies at ALL times during the day and week, while the nearby Macy facilities are always clean and well appointed. Belk store management response was that they are in a "transition period" with their cleaning service. Countered with the years of their ongoing poor condition, the store manager offered that the bathroom cleanliness also depends on the time of day. It doesn't matter, whether 9am in the morning, 12 noon, 5pm, or closing time, their bathrooms always seem dirty and never have any soap or paper towels! Enough excuses - fix the problem! read more

I absolutely adore the Belk at Hanes Mall! It's a beautiful, elegant store with wonderful sales and so many lovely, diverse items. Prices are reasonable. The store is immaculate. On Sundays, they often have a live piano player and other special events. Customers get the 5-star treatment at this store, which reminds me of the amazing shopping experiences I used to enjoy when I lived in NYC. This is a top quality department store. Dillards and Belk are by far the two best department stores in Winston and two of the finest I've ever shopped at. Customer service is pretty good, too. I've never had any issues with returns, and they're also doing a good job now with the curbside pickup service. The staff will also really work with you. Just a week ago, they offered to price match an item that was showing up as a lower price online. LOVE THIS STORE! I purchased a Crown and Ivy Dress at Belk and it was expensive which I thought was on sale. Come to find out the regular size was 25% off but the Petite size was regular price which I will note was in the regular department. When I brought it home I read the laundry instructions and the item was machine washable. When I washed the dress the tassels on the dress feel apart. This should not have happened since the dress cost 76.50 before tax. read more

I visited this location on 8-11, looking for a specific mac product. I walked in and was greeted immediately. The sales associate in the Mac section was able to show me exactly where the product was, when I told her the name of it. She offered to let me sample the product, which I declined as I already knew I wanted it. She suggested a lip liner to me that I also purchased. I'm not the biggest fan of the lip liner after I looked at it closer at home, so I'll probably try to return that. I've not used it, don't worry ;) at any rate, she was friendly and made conversation with me as I was checking out. She also wasn't afraid to try and upsale and add on to my order, which is always good for their business. I'll definitely go back. read more

The customer service in this store has continually deteriorated to the point I will not shop there anymore. The latest incident involved a very expensive Citizens watch which my wife had purchased a couple years back from Belks. The battery went dead and I obviously needed it replaced. First, I phoned the store and, after waiting an extended period of time for the extension to answer, was told that I had been directed to the wrong department. I was transferred to another extension and it just rang and rang and rang, until I finally hung up. I telephoned the store again, explained that no one answered, and asked the individual who answered the phone if he could answer my question. He stated that they did replace watch batteries, if the watch was purchased from their store. So, I made the roughly 10 mile trek from my home to to Belk's. I waited (no exaggeration) 25 minutes before the watch counter clerk finished wih another customer. As she passed, she kept telling me that "I will be with you just as soon as I am able." Well, after this long wait, I tell her that I need the battery replaced. She then informs me that the battery replacement is done at the other side of the counter and that I'd have to go there. I then went over to that counter. The clerk indicated that the person I needed was "at lunch" and would be returning in 15 minutes. So, I wasted more time strolling around the store for the 15 minutes. I returned to the counter and was told, by this second individual, that "only the manager of the store can replace watch batteries." Of course, the manager "was not in today." Instead, I was directed to a jewelry store in Greensboro that would replace the battery for its cost and a nominal upcharge. I specifically asked if this other store was open all day on Saturday and was assured that was the case. Ironically, when I drove to that store, it had closed at 2 PM. This is inexcuseable on several front. Belks need to inform customers, at the time someone is purchasing a watch, they may not be able to support battery replacement. If the manager is out, there should always be someone else who can fulfill his role, including watch replacement. The store is obviously way understaffed, if customers have to wait 25 minutes for service (several presumedly propsective customers came and went in that period of time). Additionally, why would the clerk lead me to believe the second person could replace the watch battery, when obviously she couldn't? And lastly, don't try to lodge a customer service complaint on Belk's website because there is no provision to do so. Next time it will be Macy's! read more

I love this location! It's always easy to get in and out of, is clean and the staff are always happy to help! This location just had a major remodel this past winter and it looks great! Just don't forget that the Home goods are now in a different store front that is devoted to just that (bedding, kitchen, decor)! That location is across the street on Green Valley. read more
