This is the original Fresh Market truly a staple in the Greensboro area for anyone who loves small market feel for fresh fruits and veggies , prepared meals from the hot food , my favorites fresh seafood and /or chicken or deli meats, this is where you can find the best of the best. This location is a newer modern store that offers Roasting Plant coffee beans freshly ground to order. Antonio is quite the pleasant barista and helped me on a wonderful fall pistachio almond drink in Sept. and this past weekend. The Brazil roast is such a nice blend along with many others and the in store cafe offers sandwiches, wines, charcuterie and more. If you can't tell this is great way to get fresh brewed coffee and the bean are ground to order. Also there is sitting area with tables for a nice window store view. read more

I have a very pleasant time anytime I go to Fresh Market. Mostly because of the large variety of cooked food but also a lot of items and brands you wouldn't see at any other grocery store. This location on Lawndale is a plus because we enjoy the coffee station - right in the middle of the store is this huge coffee dispenser. Dozens of coffee beans to choose from and it's really fun to watch the untreated beans shoot through the hopper/tubes and watch them roast, then eventually shoot back into its respective dispenser (something you just have to see). There are dozens of other good coffee selections as well that are bagged. The meat selection is great because they almost always have some type of special and the butchers will cut/slice however and how much you want. Fresh baked breads, this location has a breakfast sandwich order station, hot bar, fresh baked pizza, assortment of salad, olives, etc. Service has always been welcoming here. read more

The Fresh Market had several Valentine's meals to choose from for pick up in store and cook at home. You order online. They also had a filet mignon and a prime rib special. I chose the Brunch meal for $25. The meal consists of Quiche Lorraine, thick cut bacon (feels like a pound), 4 blueberry muffins and fresh fruit. I think this is a great deal because I will get more than one meal out of this. Also bought a dozen gorgeous fuchsia roses for $19.99. The whole meal was divine. The service was excellent when I went in the store and picked it up. The place was a mad house but it's Valentine's Day for heavens sake....it's expected. Did not have to wait more than 10 minutes to check out. This store is all the way across town from where I live but I hopped on the Urban loop and was there in a jiffy (20min) Happy Valentine's Day to me! read more

I love the Fresh Market! While it's not my everyday shopping store due to higher prices, I love it for the, well, fresh food of course. My favorite has been their sushi. Specially the spicy tuna roll! Spot on delicious. The California roll was also a delight but I prefer the spicy tuna because it's topped with the spicy Mayo Now lemme tell ya about the spring rolls and chicken dumplings. They're in the packaged fresh foods and heat up perfectly in the air fryer within minutes. They both come paired with a sweet and sour sauce that's perfect heated up a bit. Slowly becoming one of my favorite spots to hit up for dinner. It was also fun to get a lil coffee drink while at their cafe that offered lattes, iced/hot coffee, teas and smoothies. Who doesn't want to have a lil bevy to assist in shopping! It's a whole vibe. I look forward to continuing to check out other foods. read more

I've always loved coming in Fresh Market. Everything seems so purposeful in this store. From the layout to how things are displayed down to those things themselves. I love to browse and shop for brands I've never seen or items I've never even thought about buying. I find myself wandering down the aisles and picking up things just to investigate their origin. Yesterday I was admiring their coffee bean roaster and considered buying some just because of how great it smelled. (I already had plenty of coffee at home). I discovered a kiosk in my tour that allowed me to order a sandwich. A Bahn Mi sandwich caught my eye. I ordered it on the touch screen even though I'd just rated an hour before. It was so easy. ....... Then I got to the "sandwich counter".... The girls behind the counter had no idea what I was talking about when I showed them my ticket. The searched for the recipe cards then searched for the ingredients. I felt like I was at the worlds best Subway and the smoothie girl from 2 doors down stopped by to make me a sandwich. Clueless would have been an understatement. These poor girls. I have to say they kept a smile and tried really hard. I stopped them halfway through and just had them make me a sandwich. They then rang it up as sliced roasted Turkey. I'm not paying $15 for a sandwich.... Lol The girl at the cash register straightened it out for me. I know in this Covid Hangover world we are living in that it's hard to get good help but these poor employees were not trained well enough to do the task. Beautiful store! Great products! I stopped by The Fresh Market on Lawndale for the first time in years, and I'm so glad I did. I loved browsing and seeing all the unique items you don't find in other stores. I came in for some pasta salad and was met with such friendly service from Whitney, Sam, and Preston. Whitney mentioned she was new, but you'd never know it--she was incredibly sweet, helpful, and welcoming. Huge A+ to the whole deli team! So the newly remodeled Fresh Market is seriously taking it to the next level. There's a biscuit station, a salad station, a premade dish station, an expanded wine beer cooler, and much more. If you can walk through this upgraded flagship store and NOT find something to eat... you're either way too picky or... umm... unwilling/unable to spend the money for the convenience. My only reason for not 5 stars is that it IS a little pricey BUT, you get what you pay for! One more thing to cancel out the haters.... I TRULY APPRECIATE this stores commitment to safety VERY EARLY ON, and also the CONTINUED request that people properly wear face coverings. It's not a perfect world as there are still those who don't think it applies to them, but FM continues to make the effort. read more

Before I start raving how fantastic this place is, let me give you a little history! About 15 years ago, my kids and I decided to go on a diet ( diet #527) and do it right! We had a book which required us each week to write down how much we lost (or gained) and we would meet every Wednesday to check in. But what I need to tell you is that we weighed in at The Fresh Market up on Lawndale. I had always admired their huge scale that sat right in front of the store. We decided if it could weigh 300 lb of tomatoes, it should be able to accommodate each of us! LOL So, religiously, Erik, Devon and I would meet every Wednesday at The Fresh Market and get on that humongous but fabulous scale. I would love to have a scale like that! Whether I lost or gained, part of weighing in with the kids every Wednesday was that I got to treat myself and head in to The Fresh Market to buy a few things before I met them, and then we would all have a wonderful dinner together. Walking into The Fresh Market was like walking into a wonderland of food and flowers and products. It was always my first place to go when I would be bringing somebody flowers for a dinner invitation or special occasion. The flowers always looked so lush and colorful and priced really well. And then I would do a quick run up and down the aisles to grab just a couple of things as a treat. Always loved their coffee. Always wanted some of their nuts. Always wanted something from their bread and pastry department. Well, jump ahead 15 years and I went with my daughter to The Fresh Market the other day to spend my Father's Day Fresh Market gift certificate. I cannot begin to tell you how happy I was to arrive and see my big old beautiful scale still sitting there. I wonder how much that scale costs.? I would love to have a scale like that. As we went up and down the aisles, I had forgotten just how phenomenal this place is. Of course, just like I always remembered, the first thing that hits you is the beauty of all of the flowers for sale. Just gorgeous. The produce is bountiful and appealing and top quality. The meat and fish look fantastic, with attentive and ready to serve staff behind the counter. The refrigerated section had all kinds of interesting things that I just don't see anywhere else. It was fun to wander through the store leisurely rather than running up and down the aisles before I meet the kids for our Wednesday weigh in. And then of course all those fabulous varieties of coffee and nuts and grains. I could just pull up a chair, get into my fat clothes and robe and work my way through that entire section, bowl by bowl, canister by canister. Best of all, there was a section I had never noticed before with precooked and prepped meals. Some were all ready to go and just needed to be heated. Others offered you the opportunity of a preset package for a meal, whereby they provide you with all of the accoutrements for the meal that you are about to prepare. Definitely want to try that in the future! What I did leave with was everything from TFM brand cream cheese to some beautiful tuna steaks to Halo Top on sale to some Weight Watcher friendly crackers and snacks. Knowing what other food stores charge ( I do everything from Walmart to Food Lion to Harris Teeter), and seeing the incredible quantity and quality of what The Fresh Market offers, not to mention some incredible things on sale at a great price, I will be coming here much more often. I got the feeling as I looked around at the customers, that many of them come here for their regular shopping and not just as a novelty place. I could see myself becoming one of them! Unlike any other food store I have been to, coming here was an experience unto itself. Lots of fun, very interesting and a great payoff when you bring it all home and consume! I had a ball that night eating sushi along with okra chips to Halo Top cookies and cream. As my daughter and I left The Fresh Market, I could not help but take one last look at the scale. What sweet memories of meeting the kids there to weigh in and go out for dinner. I wonder if The Fresh Market would consider selling me that scale? I always wanted a scale like that! read more

I normally enjoy the fresh options from Fresh Market on Lawndale. This week was quite different. I Purchased sushi and sliced fruit. I had to return them both. The sushi was clammy and mushy and the fruit was so tough. I couldn't cut it with a knife. I opted to get more sushi in its place, and I waited for them to prepare it. Mistake! I've never had the sushi from fresh market, and I will never have it again. There's way too much rice, not sure what they're using in place of fish eggs, it's clammy and mushy, even after being freshly made, and believe it or not, they actually wrapped the inside of my raw tuna with lettuce. Yep that's right they used lettuce on the inside of my sushi rolls. #I'mDone. However, the fresh trout, fresh shrimp, and other fish, I Purchased for dinner that evening or perfection! read more

I was searching online for a place that sold the large sea scallops. Fresh market popped up so I went there to purchase some and was filling to pay the higher price. I get there and see scallops in the display but they were tiny. I asked the worker to see the XL ones and he showed me them tiny ones and said they were not very big and I was like they are advertised as XL scallops. What a disappointing trip. This was my first time in their store and now will be my last. read more

It's kind of hard to review this place. On one hand, its a wonderful place to go shopping. It's extremely clean, the deli and bakery department are fantastic, and they often have samples available for tasting. On the other hand, it's incredibly expensive to the point where I would only shop here for niche products. I recommend coming here solely for the produce and the deli section. You can get the rest of the stuff at a cheaper price elsewhere. read more

I really love my grocery shopping experience here. Great customer service and choices of food items. The bar has taken this place to the next level, from the sandwich bar all the way around to the sushi bar and breakfast bar. WOW! I really like the prepared meals for two, the soups, breads, etc. Some might say that it is pricey, but its good quality food. I only have one complaint which was minor. The rotisserie chicken was dry this time, this has never happened before, and it was not rosemary as labeled. After eating some of it, I made my own chicken salad, which turned out great, so I did not waste anything. My store to go to! Quality Meats! The only other store with meats of this quality is Whole Foods. There are some things that I buy there but most I buy here. Fresh Market shows more concern for food safety. I like it that there is no open food bar like all other places. read more

The Fresh Market is a supermarket chain that I frequent. Recently I was in Greensboro and after driving around stumbled upon this FM location. I was very happy as the store is very spacious and like every other FM its produce is fresh and beautifully arranged. Some may find the FM produce prices to be high, but when you consider that they do not put sub-par produce, and they save you time by doing things such as husking the corn for you. We all know that pulling those corn hairs out is a huge, messy, undertaking. The staff is always nearby, ready to answer questions, and if a fruit or vegetable falls on the floor it is picked up and taken to the back room. The meat and seafood department always has the best quality selection that can be found nearby, and priced competitively with Harris Teeter; I find Dean & Deluca quality to be comparable but more expensive than Fresh Market. The wine selection is varied and ranges from local NC wines to Viña Echeverria bottles of Carménère. For those looking for beer, you can find many local, microbrew, mainstream, and international beers as well. Fresh Market's non-perishable selection is good for the size of the store, with many high quality items that are organic, gluten-free, as well as international foods. You get more than just tacos, nachos, and salsa in their Latin American section (glaring at you, Harris Teeter). Although I like that the Fresh Market has made some efforts to be more sustainable, they are not fully invested in it and offer no incentives for their patrons to use their own bags. Indeed, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's (and even Target) offers incentives for their customers to bring their own bag. Of course, you can't beat the quality of their reusable bags for a dollar. The Fresh Market is a nice place to shop because of the service, the quality of their products, as well as their selection. Additionally, the patrons seem relaxed and not edgy, likely due to the soothing classical music. In all of my visits to many Fresh Market locations, I have never had another customer plow their cart into me or cut me off (à la Whole Foods). It's a nice upscale gourmet grocery experience when there's no Balducci's around. read more

I like most things about this chain except for some pricing, the waits at the meat counter & deli & checkout, and the lack of a normal loaf of sliced, white bread. I was excited to learn that this location was offering Southern fried chicken prepared in house - 8 pieces (a whole chicken sans the back, an under-rated part of the nice fowl) for $7.99, before tax. Unfortunately, this was another case of anticipation being better than participation. The chicken is dark, not burn exactlyt, but very dark - there is no light brown crust, period. And the chicken is very, very spicy - beyond Bo Jangles and Popeye spicy. And the main source of the heat appears to be black pepper. I like well seasoned fried chicken, but this is over the top. Stopped in to buy items for dinner. I was having trouble finding some items. I noticed an employee and walked over. When the employee turned around he was not wearing his mask correctly. His nose was not covered and the upper half of his mouth was also exposed. I asked him to please cover his mouth and nose. He ignored me. I placed my items down and left. I was trying to support local business. I asked to speak to the manager but oddly they were not available. This not the first time something like this had happened. I will not be returning. As regulars at the Fresh Market on Lawndale Street, we were terribly disappointed in the quality of service recently. Either the management has changed or the standard has gone down. Our experience was in the prepared food section. We went in for some lunch and the ladies at the prepared sandwich counter were totally into socializing among themselves instead of attending to us. On top of that, after a person took our order she neglected to tell us that one of the sandwiches ( ham) was not available, not until we repeated the order 10 minutes later. We noticed that took her time while making the one sandwich - continuing to chat and laugh with her coworker who was just leaning on the counter with her back to us. Poor service, and the first we have experienced at this Fresh Market. The fresh meat/fish sections, sushi, check out were all great. We hope to see things improve so we can come back to a more pleasant experience at this store. read more

Best Croissants ever (butter/plain and chocolate), they are fresh, with the first layer crunchy and then all the other layers soft and buttery, and the one with chocolate is amazing, but they are not cheap, and you will see why when you try it. Someone told me to check out the remodeled hot bar. While the selection is ok the service was not. 30 MIN FOR 2 TACOS just to tell me they didn't have any tacos that day. Ordered the ultimate crabcake instead( delicious by the way definitely worth the price not worth the wait). After going to try and pay I had to be moved around several registers because apparently Apple Pay wasn't working on any of them. Absolutely unacceptable. I am a HUGE Fresh Market fan. The one near New Garden is the one that I frequent because it's closer to my house. I wen to this location because it was near the friends house that I was at at the time. It was just as nice. The place was clean and the staff were very professional and nice. I enjoy my trips to Fresh Market to pick up some fun items for my pantry. The pricing is a bit much for a regular grocery visit, but FM has some cool stuff I can't find anywhere else. For one, I love Ciao Bella Key Lime squares in the ice cream section. Though Whole Foods also carries them, Fresh Market has them for less. The flowers you walk through when you enter the store are always lovely and the veggie/fruit section is well-stocked. I get my Sabra hummus here and some really good blue tortilla chips. The baked goods are always being rotated and can include Heath bar cookies, scones, cupcakes, and brownies on any given day. Also, check out their in-house chicken pies and pizzas.
