I had a very bad experience with this store and do not recommend it. I had ordered something online to pick up at Walmart, and when I went there on a Saturday afternoon to pick up my item, I found the system and staffing totally disorganized and incompetent. I waited 20 minutes by the computer kiosk where customers let staff know that they are there to pick up their item. No response. Others were there who had been waiting even longer, and we were all getting steamed. I asked several staff walking by, and got no help. A couple of them tried but could not find anyone to help. I left and came back an hour later, only to have the same experience repeated. So I made two efforts at performing the seemingly simple task of picking up an item, and still do not have it. I will have to go back a third time. This is a huge waste of time and defeats the purpose of online ordering and pickup. I have had much better experience doing this with other retailers like JC Penny, Macy's and Sears. Thumbs way down on Wal-Mart! I will avoid it in the future. read more

Very poor service for propane refill. Do not buy here. I waited in line 20 minutes to pay and 20 min to get the tank.

Okay so first off , this store is not limiting the amount of people going in the store and there's some people shopping without masks. Secondly , I went to this store to get a bike which I was told on the phone that they had it in stock. I showed up and asked for someone to help me and of course no one did. I grabbed the bike myself and I bought it. I figured out once I was outside putting the bike in my car that it had no chains on it. I go to customer service to help with this issue. The lady was extremely rude to me and did not want to help me. She was speaking in Spanish to her co worker talking about me rudely , I do understand some Spanish. I just wanted the chain for the bike but said she doesn't know if there is any. I don't understand why she could not call someone to help me. I understand there's a pandemic going on but you should be grateful you have a job. I just want this issue to be dealt with. Why are you even trying to sell a bike with no chains on it. I'm so annoyed and probably won't shop here again or the one in Newburgh. People need to learn some customer service skills and don't talk about people in front of them in another language. Always smells like dirty sewer when you walk in. Shelves always empty. The pickup department is also horrendous. Needs extreme management, nobody knows what they're doing. The time I spend waiting is horrible. GET HELP WALMART. read more

Frankly this is probably the worst Walmart in Orange County. I give two stars, which is generous, for the value compared to where I usually grocery shop. They have 20 or 25 registers and on a typical evening 4 are open, 2 or 3 are express. The cashiers are usually nice enough but rarely hustle at all, no matter how long the line is. I was on the only non-express line this evening for over 20 minutes. I was 5th in line when I got there and 20 minutes in, I was still 3rd in line. I lucked out by being closest to another register that finally opened at that point or else I probably would have been waiting another 15mins at least. Meanwhile, I watched 4 or 5 different associates walking casually around the front end, not going anywhere in particular but not helping with anything or opening a register. There were at least 2 people standing behind customer service even when there was no line. The store is dirty most of the time and the shelves are never fully stocked, ever. I know it's a large, busy store, but that's all the more reason to keep it stocked...you would think. In an area as busy as Middletown imagine how much business this place could really do if it was actually run and staffed better?! I only ever go there when I HAVE to and while waiting on line I overheard two different customers say the same thing, and that they will happily drive 30+ minutes to Walmarts in other towns/counties to avoid all these issues. This is how this Walmart has been for years...I'm perplexed at why nothing has been changed or improved by now. read more

This place is a straight up dump. I asked a clerk where I could find maraschino cherries and he said he had unpacked some a week ago and had no idea where they were. He was too busy staring at some weird blue handheld device and made no suggestions as where I could look. The fabric department was 1/3 of the size that it is near me in PA. Messy, empty shelves and crowded which I cannot fathom. Oh, it does not smell nice in this place. I like apple fritters and walked out buying NOTHING from this joint. When I walked out I literally saw a line of carts full of merchandise lined up against the front wall of the store..probably about 10 or so. I imagine all the perishables go right back on the shelf of these "abandoned" carts. If you are desperate enough to shop here, park close to the store. If you must park near Rt. 211, someone will try to run you over when you cross the two lanes of traffic. Be very cautious. read more

I'll try to make this review real quick. (Sorry.) After coming from an RGIS event around the corner at Old Navy that ended early this morning (about 6:30am), I came in here wanting a bottle of cold bottled water and a certain candy I was told was in stock in this store. But what service I received wasn't what I ever expect out of a Walmart. Unlike my more local Walmart that has aisle numbers for products on the app, this location doesn't have aisle location information, and so finding a certain candy was hard to find. I saw an employee who told me that it was down the aisle with cookies - apparently a ploy to "get rid of me". He wasn't apparently stocking shelves, but apparently wasn't expecting me to go past him and ask him for help.I checked the aisle he directed (I did find it at my local Walmart but on shelves much higher than I generally expect for the product. It was my first time buying this particular product and it's a generally new product.), but was unable to locate the item. I then traveled back to where he was. Figuring it was more suited for that aisle, I asked him one more time (Walmart app in hand, showing availability - light bulb in my head went off seconds before). Once he saw the product in the app, he looked in what I could tell was "rather thoroughly (for a Walmart employee)" but couldn't spot the product. He didn't ever go down the aisle he referred me to with me nearby. (If the aisle would have been anything like my local store and he would have looked more thoroughly like he did that time in the other aisle, he probably would have spotted it (I hope).) When he kept it open-ended, I told him I'd find it instead in my local Walmart. I had a bottle of water in my cart, but recognized that there were coolers at the front of the store for colder water. I grabbed a cooler bottle from the cooler and proceeded to the self checkouts. The employee manning the self checkout was rather nice. When the machine reminded people that only cards (and Walmart pay) were being accepted there, she helped me navigate the register, and even made light of the situation. There were no other customers that were nearby and you could tell she had no trouble doing her job while making light of the situation and questions that arose. Thanks employee. I generally use Walmart pay, but did definitely appreciate your help. read more

It's a big joke if your going to pickup an item ordered on line at this store. Only one attendant, customers complaining to the supervisors and though they promise to open more stations nothing happen! Of course all the employees passing by think it's hilarious that only one associate and 13 customers is the ratio. Second time this has happened to me will never do store puckup again. This is one of the worst Wal-Mart stores I have ever visited. In the three years I have lived here I have almost forgotten that it is here because I avoid it at all costs. Always a mess and the staff is incredibly unhelpful and unfriendly. In the last three times in which I have had to come here, I have walked out twice without buying anything out of sheer frustration. This last visit was to purchase a computer monitor, however they have no display models and apparently it is against policy to open a product to see it. And according to the employee in electronics, "I don't know anywhere that would let you do that?!" I love when employees act like I'm asking for something ridiculous that is normal everywhere else. read more

Worst experience! Bought a $50 microphone, got home and opened the box only to find it filled with rocks. Yes rocks. Went back to return it and they insisted they check all returns and that i was full of **** and trying to scam them. Are you serious? Obviously your lazy *** employees didn't check that return. I've never received worse customer service my entire life. Do yourself a favor and shop at the Walmart in Milford PA. 100% better there. If you do find yourself at the Middletown Walmart, speak with anyone BUT April on the management staff. She's a disgusting human being and could care less about her customers. I'll never shop there again. I purchased an air mattress. When I got home and opened the box, a completely different air mattress that didn't even hold air was inside. I brought it back the next day and they refused to refund me. Now I am out 80 dollars because they sold me a re- shelved return they didn't properly check. They gladly took my money but wouldn't take responsibility for their mistake. I ended up paying for their mistake. Very poor customer service. Very disappointed with corporate for allowing this store to be run by such an unprofessional management team. I called 1800 Walmart and was told that management makes the final decision on returns and to go back to speak with a manager, why would I go back after speaking to a manager and getting absolutely nowhere? What is 1800 Walmart for if the best they can do to help their customers is redder them back to the store where they had an issue? That phone call ended by them hanging up the phone on me because I refused to go back and demanded another option. What the heck is happening to Walmart leadership and customer service? I couldn't believe what was happening to me. I even called the police to let them know I had a receipt and wasn't stealing an air mattress (never ended up taking one). There's never any parking near the doors. I always end up parking across the street and walking. It's a rat race in the parking lot, a lot like bumper carts at the Fair. They don't restock their shelves very often and are often times out or the one thing I went in for. If they're restocking the shovels, the isles become impassable because the store itself is so busy and hectic. The lines are also so long for the self checkouts and they only have two or three regular registers open. Produce is often times not fresh and is bruised. It gets every sketchy after dark and I won't go alone. They are often times out to carts inside so if you want one you have to go back out to the parking lot to get one or grab one on your way inside. read more

There's no parking. There's almost no cashiers. And the ones that are there are SLOW. There's almost no associates to help. I've found one person that was extremely helpful but he was the only one I saw in the whole store - and that was just one time. The only good thing is the pharmacy. They're nice. read more

Is there some specific reason Walmart, Middletown, NY, is unfamiliar with the supply and demand ratio? Any time after 1pm, you will undoubtedly find empty shelves for the most basic items! Yet I see employees walking around the store looking just as lost as some of its customers. Word to the wise: arrive by 11am for the best picks. Words can't explain how horrible this Walmart is. To start off my visit I decided to get a bucket of auntie Ann's pretzels for it to be cooked on the outside the raw dough on the inside. Then when I did return it they didn't give me a refund so instead they gave me a new bucket of pretzels. Which were alright still a bit raw but I was hungry so I decided to get another one. And they gave me the same one I returned the first time and didn't exchange it or give me a refund. So I just threw it out and wasted another 5 bucks. Then after that experience I sat in the cart while my cousin pushed me. We were interrupted by a low life Walmart employee that love s to ruin people's day. He said get out the cart while touching me without consent and a mask in the middle of a global pandemic he put my life at risk he said it was a safety issue when the only safety issue was him not staying 6 feet away in a global pandemic I wish I never wasted time there do not go there. find a Walmart with good employees like Monticello it has a better selection and has nicer employees with cooked food read more

When I limped into the store I looked for a motorized cart and saw none. An employee told me that all were in use. The strange thing was that during my shopping I saw none. That was a strong contrast to the Fishkill Walmart where there usually are carts available at the entrances and seen in use throughout the store. read more

I avoid this location at all cost! Incredibly long lines that move at a snails pace. Every department is torn apart like a ransacked apartment and I never see any associates remotely making an attempt at keeping it neat. Very unfriendly staff at registers. Probably because all they do is listen to customers complain to them all day long about what a horrible place it is. The only reason we went in last night was to pick up a binder for my daughter for school and the whole area was a nightmare and overcrowded. We picked one of the lengthy lines to stand in and as soon as we were 20 minutes into almost next, the fire alarm went off. Thankfully it stopped and we were allowed to finish up our purchase. I generally hate walmart. But we had no wait here which is unheard of for Walmart. They seemed to have branded "chaos" no matter which Walmart in the country you frequent. Was at Walmart in Middletown to get some travel size shaving cream and mouth wash and figured I would buy some protein bars which are a couple isles away. Just like in my past experience the loose bars were either broken, smooched or both. They are in a metal rack and who ever stocks the shelves doesn't handle them very gently. The prices are good but not very appetizing when they are smooched inside the wrapper. When you open them the inside sticks to the the wrapper an they are very difficult to eat. They would be better off leaving them in open boxes like I see in other stores that sell products like this. I don't think I will be buying protein bars there again if this is how they handle them. read more

Saw a laptop in a Wal-Mart flyer.. it was a roll back item that was not on line.. I spoke to a young man in electronics.. he went out of his way to locate this item as the store was sold out. He tried to find one that was in price with what we wanted.. but there was none. At that point we got a manager to see if he could help.. he also went out of his way to locate one in another store.. sucsess.. there are some workers that do their very best to help you.. Unfortunately, I can't give this store a fraction of a star rating,or a zero, because that's what it deserves. I really don't know where to start, there are so many bad things about this Walmart in particular. I have shopped in virtually EVERY Walmart store in the local tri - state area (NY, PA) and this one is by FAR the worst. In the spring / summer of 2019 the men's room urinals were both out of order for 2 weeks (covered with plastic sheeting), and the only way one could use the bathroom was the (dirty) toilet... disgusting was too kind a word to describe it ... the grocery section, frozen foods in particular, look as though the country were at war 50 - 75% of the shelves are CHRONICALLY EMPTY. The Dairy section comes in next as the worst I have ever seen in ANY store ... not just a Walmart. Once again ... looks like the country was at war and there was food rationing ...hardly ANY product stocked in refrigerated (milk, butter, margarine, eggs, juice drinks). I've heard from a (food) distributor that there's been no store manager at this location in over a year ... not hard to believe at all. On to the next terrible attributes of THIS Walmart ... should you EVER have to go to customer service to return an item(s) be prepared to waste MANY precious minutes of your life ... the wait time is ridiculous, and I am not speaking of post - holiday returns ... this is an EVERY DAY occurrence ! . I almost forgot ... there is one (male) employee that works the Deli section ... he coughs on the food as he's slicing it ( and you thought you were preventing illness by using those hand wipes at the door ... lol ) ... you can tell who he is because he moves slower than maple syrup in mid December. My last, but not all inclusive list of things that make me rank this Walmart location as the worst EVER involves it's so called "security". It seems that this Walmart doesn't trust it's "valued" customers (LMFAO) enough to let them spend their money there and leave to go freely on their way out to their cars in the parking lot, without door "greeters" (who no longer "greet" you) acting as an improvised security force who stop customers and ask to see their receipt after they've spent their hard earned money in the store. If questioned, they may tell you that "all Walmart's do this" ... if they tell you this, consider yourself as having just been lied to . Anybody who is over 18 years of age would HAVE to think ... if they don't trust me for whatever reason (and that's the subject of one of my future reviews of this particular store), why should I spend a penny of my money there ? OR ... why should I spend my money at THIS Walmart, when for a 15 mile (15 minute) trip, I can go to a different Walmart in an adjoining state, shop at a lower tax rate, and be treated with respect (that I deserve) and not like a criminal suspect. Something to think long and hard about. People , do yourself a favor ... shop one of Walmart's PA stores - the difference (for now at least) is like night and day. read more

Still an awful and unsafe store - unhelpful staff and absentee managers, or non at all . Long and numerous phone waits , when placing on line orders. Then you can't even get anyone to help you. they pick up phone and the actually hang up! Astonishing! Does this store not have competent managers?? My experience at this Walmart location was overall pretty satisfactory. I went into it with pretty low expectations, like a sushi joint in a one-horse town. But my concerns were soon put to rest when I saw the pillar of 2 gallon cheese ball containers - I knew I was home. After I paid for my grocery items I needed to use the restroom. They say you shouldn't bring groceries into the bathroom with you, but I'm just gunna be honest here - I'm kind if a "bad boy". So I decided to hang the code and hang the rules and just do my thing with the grocery bag right with me. And boy was I glad I did; there was no toilet paper in the stall so I used one of my hot dog buns #resoueceful. As I was leaving I noticed an old man yelling at the sinks (that had motion activates faucets). "Why won't you work, ya gosh dang machines? Where yar handles at?" I probably should have helped him, but I didn't. My Mom told me never to talk to strangers. My Mom also told me to always wash my hands after using the restroom, but I didn't. Like I said, I'm kind of a bad boy. What a jolly day. Go Walmart! Go world! read more

Went to photo center to have photos restored for a very important ceremony on September 12th. A highly publicized event that included the Orange County Veterans Coalition etc. Honoring my uncle KIA in Vietnam. They had these items for over 2 weeks in their possession and did not follow protocol procedures in submitting for restoring. Due to their lack of knowledge and unprofessional manner in handling this matter. Now have to scramble to find someone that can get them done before Sept. 12th. read more
