Horrible customer service. I'll just say this- I purchased an ink cartridge for my printer and it was defective- when inserted into the ink receptacle it was not recognized and the printer message was to replace it Walmart 100% refused an exchange even though I had the receipt. I was told by the store manager it's Policy they don't allow exchange for ink. The cartridge plastic was clearly deformed and would not correct fit into the ink receptacle it. About a month ago my husband strolled up to a self-checkout with approximately $50 worth of groceries. He scanned everything in his cart. At one point he had a problem with an item and was helped by a store clerk. He thought he had everything scanned correctly and continued the process of finishing up his transaction. After paying the $45. and change total he headed for the exit - where he was promptly stopped and asked to step into an office. Apparently a $4.00 package of cheese slices had not scanned correctly and was not on the receipt. My husband was not even asked if he had intended to steal the cheese. Instead, he was told the manager had 2 choices: 1. Call the police and have my husband arrested for shoplifting or 2. Ban my husband from ALL Walmarts for a duration of 2 years. The manager chose option 2. Had the manager reviewed surveillance footage he clearly would have seen that everything in the cart had passed by the scanner. We, the general public, are neither trained nor paid to operate a store checkout. Yes, it may sound petty until you're accused of stealing a $4.00 package of cheese after paying $45.00 for the rest of the transaction. Seriously, Walmart? I see this same scenario happening on the news All. The. Time. When are you going to wise up? I wish my husband had pushed to have them call the police and then asked them to review the surveillance footage. We've been loyal customers of Walmart for the 25+ years since they opened in Putnam, shopping once a week on average. My son has worked for them. If you have 1 or 2 items, by all means use the self-checkout. Any more than that, find a cashier. It's not worth it for the few minutes the self-checkout may afford you nor is it worth being detained and accused of something you didn't do. As for me? I'll be shopping elsewhere. Every time I want to love this store, I encounter beyond RUDE employee's. I'm not going to lie my son was definitely a bit hyper during my visit- and in my honest opinion he was a bit out of control. But he has a 6th Birthday coming up & a lot to be excited about! That is also COMPLETELY out of character for him so I did reprimand him obviously but went easy considering it was not his normal behavior and I also had a lot of things I needed to purchase for his birthday, in addition to a lot of events coming up- so I was trying to discipline/watch him/shop at the same time which proved to be EXTREMELY DIFFICULT!!!! He was running and sliding down aisles but he wasn't doesn't anything to disrupt other customers (because the store was empty) & he wasn't messing up inventory or throwing products on the floor- just typical toddler stuff and I was literally ready to rip my hair hair out but to be scolded by someone other than a parent must've been horrifying for him! 3 different employees thought it was somehow appropriate to YELL at a 5 year old CHILD!!!! Since when do strangers think it's ok to REPRIMAND/YELL AT OTHER PEOPLES CHILDREN????! HE was never more than a few feet away from me, So NOT SURE WHY I WAS NOT ADDRESSED?!??! Considering the running was probably a safety hazard- I immediately told him to stop the running or threatened to take away "his favorite toy" so that was stopped immediately! Not sure if these employees were in cahoots but I was just so taken aback at their harsh words to a toddler. I wish I could STOP coming to this location but it's so convenient & actually the only Walmart within at least 35 minutes. I returned today alone to pick up a few things & I was really satisfied with the prices but please management do something about the Awful employees that ruin it for the good ones!!! read more

Walmart Supercenter - a young boy wearing a mask - Grocery Near Me - Putnam, Connecticut

Not sure what gentrified entitled yuppies have been reviewing this Walmart...buuuut when you're used to going to the one on Silver Spring Ave in Prov, this place is all but a palace! They have well stocked sections ranging from personal items, toys, pets, sporting goods and a plethora of food/beverages. There are always multiple registers open, including the self-check out lines. Many staff members are visibly present and generally pleasant. Not really seeing a downside. Out of principle I give them 4 stars because local business is king. If you think this Walmart is troublesome, take a ride down to Providence for some perspective in life! Lol read more

Wow! Went to Walmart to pick up a cake I ordered and pre paid for. Standing at the bakery counter at 5:30 pm on 5/30/22, younger male went behind the counter and started doing something as I stood there. I finally said excuse me, do you work in this department and he rudely said, yea why. And i said I'm here to pick up a cake. He seems very annoyed and goes back and gets my gate and puts in my cart and walks away. Doesn't show me the cake, doesn't say thank you. Awful service WalMart! read more

Ok, this is Walmart, so why right a review? This is a place that's trying to be everything and succeeding at some, and totally failing at other parts. As a department store, it would get 4 stars. Good selections, prices are good, shelves are stocked, and selection is above average The pharmacy would get 5 stars. Very friendly and helpful. Prices a really great. We have to get medication for our dogs, and compared to the other pharmacies in town, we are getting the meds at almost 40% lower here, than at the chain pharmacies. Supermarket section: this would get 0 stars if I could. The produce section is a joke. I've seen better looking veggies at a food bank. Rusty looking lettuces and bagged salads, squash with pucks, dents, and soft spots. Tomatoes that are really soft. Many times shelves are not filled, to the point that you could reduce space by 30%. We did try the meat once, and that is the last time we will buy it. We don't buy milk there anymore because it seems to go bad 2 to 4 days before the expiration date. I'd like to take the temperature of the dairy case because it doesn't feel like it is set to the proper temperature, thus causing it to spoil early. Overall the prices are the same, if not more for certain items, than the other 2 supermarkets in town. As a department store, the place is good, great as a pharmacy, but a total disaster as a supermarket. read more

Walmart and their phone company OSL are awful to deal with. We went into the store on September 14th to buy two Iphone 12-plus and the store would only sell us 1. No one seems to be able to tell us why or get back to us on this issue. I have talked to two store managers and the district manager of OSL and they are all clueless. I called the corporates office of Walmart and sent a letter, they said they would get back to me in 72 hours. One week has gone by. They sent a letter saying they could not verify my identity which is incorrect. They said it was a problem with Verizon which is incorrect! They simply do not want to sell two phones at this low price to the same household! DON'T BUY A PHONE FROM WALMART OR OSL!!! They don't deserve your business!!! read more

If you aren't in a bad mood when you walk into Putnam Walmart, you will be by the time you walk out, which will be a long time since they NEVER have enough registers open. I shopped there for years a spent ALOT of money there every week. I decided the low prices weren't worth it to me when trying to pay for my items and go home became such a stressful experience. They no longer have baggers, so unless people help the cashiers bag, you are stuck in line for at least 30 minutes. Everyone there is miserable and I can inderstand why. Then you need to wait in another line at the exit to show your receipt before you can walk out the door. I'd rather go to Price Chopper or Stop and Shop. Even if I need to pay more at those stores the experience and customer service is well worth it! read more

Prices are different than what's advertised. Been coming here for a little over a year and I've had to check my receipt several times. One for over scanning items and second for incorrect pricing. Great place for grocery shopping. Milk is cheaper than most when they have stock that is. The Indians go and purchase about 200 milks at a time to re-label to sell in their stores. So watch out!Definitely should have a limit on how many milks one can purchase! A few I can understand but when you're filling up 6 carts full then that's an issue. UPDATE- they now have someone checking your receipt, by law you don't have to stop, they make you feel like a criminal. NEVER order anything online and have the items sent to the store. The lazy incompetent workers at pickup get to your orders when they feel like it. Took over two days for them to sort out my order while it was there! I called several times and all I got was " we'll get to your order when we can, there's a lot of orders back there that we have to get to". They didn't do anything! They didn't sort out anyone's orders. Take a ride and go to the Walmart in Oxford Ma, much nicer, bigger, all updated, and the workers are a lot nicer, not like these farmer hicks at Putnam. Prices now fluctuate on the milk to. One week it's $1.49, one week is $1.89, one week is $2.29. Place is a s*it show, all these hicks everywhere that just came back from the farm or mud diving with their piglets. But seriously, don't order anything online and send to store, it's faster to have them ship to your home. I also had an issue where we used Walmart pay, my mom had sent me money so I go to Walmart to pick it up, I give them the number and they say it's already picked up. By who?!? So you're telling me someone stole my money?!? She said all it shows is someone picked it up. Of course, she was useless, didn't offer any help whatsoever. So come to find out she typed in the wrong number with her fat fingers. Didn't apologize or anything. Just avoid this place. read more

This Walmart sucks, so bad. It was way better before they renovated and turned it into a super Walmart. The staff here are totally clueless, one cashier made me go back to the produce department to find a four digit code for a squash because she didn't know what it was. Fine, maybe she was new. I come back with the number and she proceeds to tell me my effort was wasted because she asked the cashier next to her for the code. WOW....she couldn't have asked before she requested I find the number myself? Another cashier made me wait in line for 15 minutes because she didn't know how to activate a gift card. It's almost impossible to find anything here and the staff look everything but pleasant. This was my "go to" Walmart but I'm not stopping in anymore, my IQ is lowered every time I walk through the door. Go to Kmart just up the street or jump on the highway and go to Target in Killingly. Can I give this 0 stars? Normally I am a pretty nice person and would like to think my reviews are good.. I go to this Walmart all the time and every single time I hate it more and more. I'm just going to avoid at all costs now. One time I went in there and was walking around waiting for my boyfriend to pick out what he needed. I felt this guy following me throughout the entire store. Later when I was walking out he stopped me at the door and accused me of stealing. He was dressed in normal clothes and looked like a 14-year-old boy trying to be gangster. I thought he was joking around. I was so angry I went back inside a few minutes later to ask if he was actually an employee there or not. They totally would not give me the time of day to even tell me if he worked there or if he was just being a punk kid. Turns out he did work there. Lovely. I just started going to this wal-mart and have been there about 6 or 7 times. I have to say every time I go in its easy to maneuver thru the store, never crowded and the customer service is wonderful. So far I have nothing to complain about, even the people in the store are friendly. Much better experience than Oxford, MA or Northbridge, MA. read more

Why does it take longer to wait in line to cash out than it does to actually shop for items? All the self-check out lights are on but when you get there TWO out of the four are marked with 'closed' signs - why are the lights on? Then, there is only ONE nearby register open with the s.l.o.w.e.s.t. cashier. Customers always have the option of walking a mile to the opposite end of (10 closed) registers only to find another long line as that's the cigarette aisle which is always open. What's up with the managers? Are they not watching what's going on at the registers? Are they too good to jump on and help out? Please be conscious of the employees you assign to the 'express lanes'. Express means 'high speed', please ensure the employee fits the definition. read more
