I am a Market Basket shopper. I really love the quality and selection that is there and the prices are lower. I feel that on most items I am saving a dollar and that adds up. The store is clean. They have staff constantly organizing the shelves so it is not a mess and you can find what you need quickly. Once you get familiar with the store you can whiz right through because it can get busy. It is especially packed on Sundays before Patriot games. LOL! The meat and produce departments are my favorite. They have a great selection and everything is fresh for when you want to make your favorite recipe at home. The only drawback for most is that it can be busy. This market is amazing! I really wish there was one closer to my house in Chepachet. I've only been here about 5 times but every time I've come here- I've had an amazing experience and staff always went above and beyond for me! The first time I worked with the bakery to order a cake for my sons birthday & the woman who ran the bakery was amazing and super helpful! She was extremely knowledgeable regarding the products: the cake, the flavors, the frosting, the size, how many people it would approximately feed and so much more. It's refreshing to see a knowledgeable worker these days because lately most of the workers I encounter are either lazy or just completely clueless ! How do you work in a bakery- yet don't know anything about the products you're selling? It's happened to me frequently at other market bakery's! The next time I came here was to pick up Pastry for Easter & again the gentlemen working in the bakery- went above and beyond for me. He was super knowledgeable about the pastry & what each individual item was & what each item contained- ingredients and taste wise. Again- very refreshing as other places I frequent have stuff working in departments where they are completely clueless and have minimal information regarding the products- which is very frustrating! I love this market because customer service is amazing but they also have a HUGE selection of groceries/items. I purchase very specific items and brands and it's frustrating because the market next to my home doesn't carry all of these brands and I often end up having to go to both a supermarket and a store like Target to get what I need. At Market Basket- they literally have everything and EVERY variation of the items I buy! For example if you're looking for French fries- you're going to get nearly every single brand that makes French fries- and every way possible: curly fries, crinkle fries, unsalted fries. Etc. They also have GREAT prices! They are cheaper then stop and shop & Whole Foods! They also have a much better selection then those markets as well! In addition to great prices, great customer service, and a great selection- the overall setup of the market is perfect and it's very convenient! They also have prepared foods, a bakery, a deli, a florist and everything a market like Whole Foods or Dave's sells. I WISHHH THEY WOULD OPEN ONE UP IN NORTHERN RHODE ISLAND- we really would benefit from a Market Basket up in Glocester/Chepachet area. Overall this is my all time favorite market & they have nearly everything I need. My better half and I live in Providence but were helping my elderly parents through a difficult medical time which required staying over at their house in Dudley. We needed a place to shop for groceries. My parents had previously shopped at Park & Shop, but while it was very close to their house, well stocked, clean and friendly, we found the prices very high. Market Basket was only 10 minutes away and more likely to meet my mother's nutritional needs as she battled cancer and heart failure. The prices were indeed better with good selection. One day my wife was shopping there during a brief thunderstorm. As luck would have it she had just put her debit card in the machine to pay when the power flickered. The cashier said the payment (over $148) didn't go through, but my wife was able to check her bank account on her iPhone and saw that it had gone through. The cashier wouldn't accept that and said their policy was to charge us again and that the additional charge would be refunded automatically within 5 business days. Being savvy, my wife asked to see the manager, but none was available. So she asked the cashier to make a note on the receipt and sign it. No apology for the circumstance was provided. We waited the 5 business days. The funds did not appear. My wife, who had returned to Providence to work by that time, drove up specifically to revisit the store for the refund. She was again told no manager was available. No apology was given, but they did give her a number to call. She spoke to someone that same day (a Friday) and was told the refund was being made and that it would appear by Tuesday. No apology. By Wednesday there was still no refund so she called the number again and this time was told she could only get a refund by seeing the store manager in person. We demanded the name of the manager. Still no apology. We spent Thursday moving my elderly parents into a facility where they could be together during my mother's final days. Exhausted but needing to again return to work in Providence, my wife headed back to the store before driving down. A manager was actually available! My wife was asked to repeat the whole story, after which she was told our bank had accepted the payment. And still no apology. We actually won't know until next Tuesday if this fiasco has finally ended as it takes that long for our bank to process payment. While we understand that power surges happen, $148 is a lot to be out of pocket for 2 weeks. There was zero empathy and the lack of decent customer service was telling. My wife had just told the manager that we would never shop at a Market Basket again when she heard another customer say the exact same thing. Turns out some cashiers had been laughing at her. I feel sorry for the community this store serves. You deserve so much better. I'll be glad to return to Providence where we have better options. read more

This MB is a great place to shop. 20 minutes for me one way. PC is 10 but, I'll drive the extra for selection and value. The best deal around unless you go to Aldi. And I really only buy snacks there beacause I refuse to pay $5 for a bag of air with a few doritos in it. The only slight complaint I have is the Kitchen area does not make italian subs properly. Purchased one today (I should have watched her make it). I asked for everything but hots. There is lettuce, tomato and a few onions and green peppers on it. I thought there were lots more options. Like black olives, banana peppers, pickles, etc.??? Last time I purchased one there I asked for everything and light on the lettuce. He gave me cold cuts with a small amount of lettuce on it, that's it. Again, I did not watch him make it. I probably won't buy one again unless it's an adult making it. I see this as a huge training opportunity for the kids that work that counter. read more

This Market Basket has gone downhill in the last year. I'm constantly finding produce mislabeled and mispriced. The people putting out the produce don't know what things are so how can they be expected to price things correctly. I have found layers of fat on beef pieces that I never did before. Each time I take things back to the department managers they tell me the person is new. It seems to be the common excuse. I now must buy my fresh pork at a different store, as the quality of pork is below acceptable. Sandwiches are now full of brown lettuce and little meat & cheese and the last time I tried one the roll was days old. Young people doing the work, and they are not being trained or supervised. The cashiers in the Oxford store are great - they seem to actually care. In the Shrewsbury store, they all act like they don't want to be there. I love Market Basket! The prices are great and the staff are really nice. I love it so much I drive 10 miles just to get here every week and that also means the deals really are that good. Other grocery store prices really can't compete/compare. They have a great selection of different meats and will cut you an size/type of meat you want. Over the years they have also expanded their grass-fed organic meat selection too. I would advise coming during off hours - this place gets packed! The best times are typically very first thing in the morning on the weekends. And by first thing I mean no later than 8! If you come during busy times or later in the day they have a really hard time keeping up and keeping the shelves stocked. read more

A great place to shop. It's been open over six months now and the place is still clean every time I visit. I love the fact that I don't need a card to get the sale price (oh how I miss the good old days). The prices our generally lower then Shaw's or Price Chopper. And there always seems to be staff in the aisles if you need assistance. There is fresh food, sandwiches and pizza if you need to grab a quick meal. The only drawback is that there's no place to sit inside the store to enjoy it. They did add a few tables outside but that wont help come winter time. Parking is usually not too bad but expect to park in the North 40 on the weekends. read more

The staff are great, but what matters is value for your price. If I can get the same staple items at another store for half the price, why would I shop here? That's what I ask myself. I go to Market Basket if it is convenient, like I am shopping nearby and need an item or two in a pinch. The shelves are stocked with a lot of the same items next to each other to make it appear they have a huge selection. Frozen meals to bring to work are regularly more expensive than the Wal-Mart down the road. Produce is generally fresh but come on, the onions I got recently were bad. Tomatoes were moldy too. I brought it up to a worker and they were apologetic and pleasant but kept on stocking carrots. A half hour later the moldy tomatoes were still there. This happens often. read more

This is easily the best Market Basket that I've ever shopped at, and I've been to at least 10-12 locations in my lifetime. The store is always clean, there is plenty of parking, and of course those legendary low prices to please any budget conscious person. Although it is often very busy, that's the standard for ANY Market Basket, and I feel that the layout of this store handles it better than any other. The Plaza is easy to enter and exit, and there is plenty of parking right in front of the store. Now go and save a buck! read more

I refuse to go on a weekend and bless/say my last goodbyes to anyone who dares. It always packed and people are so RUDE! (Everyone who supported the employee strike should focus that compassion into their shopping experience. Don't care how long ago that was). Good prices, especially on produce. I don't feel like some of the other products are as competitively priced as they used to be. I forgot how limited their selection is too / realized this during my last visit. Meat purchases have been both okay and regrettable. Hard to shop for certain products because the packages are so damn big. The parking lot is too small. I've been to this Market Basket several times now and I can see myself going back again, and again. The store is much cleaner than Price Chopper in Webster, probably because it is brand new, and is much better organized. Everyone time I have gone, the parking lot is full. Saturday morning, full...Monday evening, full...Tuesday afternoon, full...you get the picture. The prices are better than Shaw's and selection much better than PC. The prices are really cheap, and the selection is awesome. They have a fantastic deli, seafood, and cheeses section. Most importantly, for me, the produce selection is huge and varied. They have all kinds of different greens, roots, mushrooms, and other vegetables that I enjoy cooking with. I also really enjoy their selection of freshly baked breads, i.e, focaccia (sp?), sour dough, etc. The staff are all very friendly and there are many of them to help you out. All in all, I think this Market Basket has exceeded my expectations... read more

Definitely the best grocery store around. We drive about a half hour just to come here because they have some great prices on produce. Good prices in general. Also, in the seafood section, they have a sushi chef that prepares fresh sushi right in front of ya'. Most boxes of sushi are $5-7. Really tasty and fresh. And get this- last summer I bought live lobsters here for $4 a pound. Yes, you read that right- $4 a pound!! I heard a rumor- and I don't know if it's true- that Market Basket only makes a 20% profit on all their groceries which is why so much of their stuff is loads cheaper than Shaws, Price Chopper, etc. One tip: this place gets realllly packed on weekends and between 4-6 pm when folks are doing their grocery shopping after finishing work. You might have to drive around a bit before you find a spot. I LOVE Market Basket. So glad we have one around! read more

Decided to take a bit of a drive to check out Market Basket now that Arthur T. has returned to ownership. This store is impressive...very, very impressive. To be honest, I took a 45 minute drive to do my shopping here and based on prices near my current place of residence, I saved about $100. So not kidding. I'm hooked and plan on doing all my big, fill the pantry and freezer shoppings here. Easily accessed, amazingly clean and well organized. Wide aisles and a nice selection. I can see why people made such a fuss, taking a stand for Arthur T. I'll shop here until MB decides to cross state lines for a CT store...or a W. MA store. Then again, if I return to The PVD™ soon, I'll have to figure out which MB is going to be closest! I stand with Arthur T.! read more

I visited the Oxford Market Basket this morning at the urging of a friend. It's 14 miles from my house. The store is well lit,aisles are wide and well stocked. When I went to the produce section I found most items very poorly marked by type and price. The iceberg lettuce was limp and rusty. I passed on produce. The deli is painfully slow. I will return to see if things have gotten better. read more

Huge store with amazing prices and great quality. This place has taken southern central MA by storm and seems to be always packed. Big crowds usually mean great store and I wasn't disappointed. Absolutely rude staff anytime I'm in there and ask a question. Not only do all of these kids stocking the shelves NEVER know where anything is- last night I went in and asked for shaved steaks (for Philly cheese steaks). The kid answers in a snotty tone "isle 7"- and just sends me to a random isle for a frozen item. Anyone who knows the layout of the store knows there's nothing frozen there. So I asked him again to help me and he says "well they MUST be in this isle" and waves his hands at every freezer in the frozen food section. Thanks for the "help". So then I ask a large, blond teen with heavy eyeliner on if she could point me in the right direction but she is too busy being obnoxious and loud with her coworker to bother. Finally- she starts answering my question... but then ignores me MID SENTENCE to answer a co workers question and help SOMEONE ELSE! They need to start hiring reliable help instead of all these teens who take zero pride in customer service. The only reason MB got two stars from me is because their prices are really good. However- I'll be going to Price Chopper from now on since their prices are just as good but they have WAY better service! read more

This was a pretty good store when I went. The prices are very low and a lot of the stuff is pretty good. So far, Market Basket is the best grocery store I have found in New England. Some things like the store brand yogurt, Brie, and milk are very inexpensive and pretty good. read more

They have great prices!!!!!! By far the cheapest for your shopping with a great selection. Love thier deli selection. Also there isn't anything they don't have. Thier fresh veggie area is always well taken care of and great to pick from. Bakery is delicious too fresh breads yummy. It's about time that Oxford got a supermarket!!! and this one is great. I used to shop in Webster which was not that far, but this market has better prices and is MUCH cleaner. They have the typical stuff every supermarket has, and the deli is a bit slow. But he sushi is pritty good, the fish is of really great quality and they make Sal's style pizza in the bakery. I have also ordered cakes for special occasions here and they do a great job, and will accomidate special requests. Their hot food is obviously not their top priority, but there is a small selection of fried chicken, meatloaf, ribs and buffalo wings if you need a fast meal. The produce area offers a wide selection and is always fresh at reasonable prices. There is a local vegetable market down the street and I still choose to get my veggies here because it is just as freshe and the prices are better. We are a family that eats alot of freash fish, and I would say they have the best section and prices of any place I have purchased fish. Each week there are great specials. Last week I got both Steamers and Lobsters for $3.99 a lb. That's cheaper than the watermelons at $4.99 a lb! And last week we tried their fresh mixed berry apple pie. Awesome! read more

I drive 30 miles to go here (closest one to me). The sales are great but more important is the quality. Excellent bakery and ready made stuff, nice produce and incredible service. On the busiest craziest times all lines are open with baggers. Most chains cut costs here and have few lines and one of any baggers. As Market Basket was building I was busy looking for opinions. Never heard of them (not a native of MA) so the mixed reviews I found made me wonder if this place would be worth me changing my ways. Whoa Baby! Four-plus months since it opened and I am still thinking of leaving my hubby and marrying this store! I'm buying more - but spending less. We have tons of fresh fruits and veggies. Some stuff they carry are things I haven't been able to find since we moved here ten years ago. Haven't had anything bad but I've been assured that if we get something we don't like (for any reason) we just bring it back with our receipt and we'll get a full refund. I can drive past three other grocery stores from home to Market Basket if I take main roads. I take the back roads so I don't have to wave to them as I drive on to Market Basket! read more

This is one of the cleanest Market Baskets I've been to and it's quite well organized. The staff are friendly as most MB staff is and they are busy during the normal times like you would expect. I've never been to a Market Basket that wasn't ridiculously busy on weekends. The best part? The prices! I have been in charge of food shopping for over a decade now and memorize prices like it's my job. I know that 97% of the time, MB has the best prices. Other grocer stores' sale prices are MB's normal prices. Every now and again I'll see something somewhere else that is a tad cheaper; it's not often, however! I do notice that their ground meat tends to go bad quite quickly. We've tried about three times but if it sits in your fridge (the coldest part, even) until the next evening when you want to use it, it is questionable in its quality. I couldn't use it until two days after I bought it once and I had to throw it out. That does not happen at Hannaford or even (gasp) Walmart in the rare times I go there. I can't demote a star though because overall I can't find a better one stop shopping place that allows me to stay on a budget. read more
