Would avoid shopping at the Walmart in Sandusky. This place is so gross and not very safe to say the least. To start out there is a front row parking spot for police to park. If you need to use the motorized carts, do not bother going to this store!!! I've tried three times in two weeks and was left stranded mid-store when carts that say they're fully charged die after only a few minutes. Today,not only did my cart fail, FOUR men associates walked past me and ignored me when I said my battery had died! One even asked me to move so he could pull his load past me. It moved a few inches and I told him the battery was dying and I needed a new one, and he just walked on. The last one looked at me then looked away, when I told him, loud enough for several people to hear, that my battery was dead and I needed a new one, he walked on! I needed to buy a set of tires for my car so I stopped in about 9-30 wed morning 2-2-2022. after waiting 20 min I went looking for help and found someone who told me that anyone in the auto dept side could help me, I could not find anyone so I went back to the shop counter and there was someone at the counter. After making eye contact I told him that I needed to purchase a set of tires. he responded by telling me someone was ahead of me and he needed a couple minutes. I then watched as he went outside and pulled a car inside the shop and started working on it. Walmart's delightful staff, wide variety of goods, and their well-organized corporate structure makes this superstore great for meeting new friends, getting tires for your car, and purchasing a Venus flytrap. One of my struggles was that my anxiety took over when I was presented with too many options and sections of products to choose from. After my pulse slowed I picked out a pair of sunglasses. All though they protect "100%" of UV rays, my cornea still experienced damage. The self checkout section of the store is a nice convenient touch as well, for I am not very pleasant with cashiers. Lastly the store is conveniently placed across the street from an Applebee's. How convenient. But Applebee's will be saved for a later discussion. read more

It seems as if this Walmart location is starting to take steps to better organize their store, which is great considering how bad it was a year ago. Typically, I drive the 20 minutes into Norwalk to go to Walmart, as that store tends to be much cleaner, more organized, and feels safer to be in, but lately I have been going to the Sandusky location for a few items and the experience has become much more positive. Staying at a hotel close by and went to buy laundry soap and get some quarters for the change machine they have here. Bought $55 worth of groceries and then went to "customer service" to get $5 worth of quarters. They told me they can not make change for me even after I told them I just bought $55 worth of groceries. I said fine and went over to one of the stands and grabbed some mints and went back with a $10 bill and said I would like to buy these and please give me my change in quarters which they did. Absolute crap customer service. I stopped ordering from Walmart a couple years ago after they screwed me on an order and charged me for it anyway. Figured I'd give them another chance. I ordered something online. Was told it had to be picked up by Nov. 8 and pick up times are 12pm-8pm. They cancelled my order at 9:50am before I was even allowed to come pick it up today. Called the manager right away when I got the text and he claimed there was nothing he could do about it even though it had been less than 10 minutes since the order was cancelled. If it had to be picked up by end 8pm on 11/7 they shouldn't have said you have until 11/8. Will NEVER shop at this store again. read more

Average Walmart. I'm not a big Walmart shopper, but have been to this particular store a few times and haven't had any bad experiences. They are fairly well stocked and have plenty of employees around if they are needed. Only thing is the check out is usually kind of slow. read more

So lately we've been doing the pickup method for our stuff when we can and usually in a different Walmart store, not this one in Sandusky. I was working nearby and decided to put in an order to pickup on the way home after I got off work that day. About 1/2 hour AFTER the time I was supposed to pick up, I got a text message AND an email saying "We're extremely busy today and are running behind. We will let you know when your order is ready for pickup. DELAYED". So... I wait. Over an hour later, no notice yet so.. I head home. Another hour passes, still, no message. I call in, get someone in customer care who does a 3-way to the store pickup center. Associate at the store there tells me and the customer care representative that there's no delay, my order's BEEN READY since BEFORE the pickup time and I should just come get it now. So I go and get it. Still to this day, over a WEEK later, I do not have notice of that order being ready nor do I have the eReceipt I always get when I purchase from the "normal" store I use. I sent an email to the store management to let them know of my experience and I get a reply back saying if I have a problem to contact customer service. Ummm... Seriously?? Definitely will NOT be using this particular store for my pickup orders again. Sad but that's the way it goes I guess. sidenote: I've already put in and picked up at the usual store with ZERO issues since the order at the Sandusky store. read more

Overall this is one of the better Walmart stores for general merchandise and customer service... But I recommend avoiding trusting their automotive services department. Not only are they excessively slow, but if you complain to them about their service they will threaten to ban you from having even a simple oil change done instead of trying to help with your concern or any issues. Stay away from this Walmart's auto department. These guys create problems for you to fix instead of doing what they are asked. I've had a couple issues with this place, the latest was a slow tire leak lasting weeks, so it wasn't a huge issue. Took it in today, specifically saying, don't do anything making the car undrivable, return 2 hours later and the small spare is on the car, and they say the old tire was not repairable. So, why didn't they leave it alone? Now I have to drive 50 miles tomorrow on a small spare which I can't drive on the freeway. I don't mind having having to go get a couple new tires (which I don't want to get a Walmart), but why screw up a tire that just has a slow leak? read more

I have had to use customer service in this store several times - the customer service is horrible - they are curt and not helpful at all. Further, if you call with a question your phone call gets passed around and you end up waiting on hold forever without an answer. After needing to call the store 4 times in one morning due to no one talking the call I finally asked for a manager - I waited over 10 minutes on hold and no one ever picked up the phone again - they just left me on hold. This store is fine if you want to pick up a few things that you need and know that you will never return but if you need customer service for any reason go elsewhere to buy your item. read more

Giving it 5 stars for the fact that they are kind enough to allow us truckers to park to shop and park overnight. Drivers the parking is by the garden center area, you will see the signs on lamp poles that say Walmart truck parking, parking outside of the "truck zone" risks being towed. Parking lot is clean. Store was not terribly busy for being July 4th but I think that was because everyone was at the checkout lanes where only 4 registers were open and the rest were 20 items or less and self checkout, so it was slow moving to get checked out. I have had mostly good experiences with Walmart. I realize, also, that every experience can't always be good. However, when you, as a business, CAN make something right that you did wrong, and it won't cost anything, I would expect you to right the wrong. Walmart Auto Center in Sandusky, Ohio did my sisters oil change a few months ago and used a compound to seal the drain plug on so it would not just vibrate loose, as I've noticed most Walmart's do. The problem was that they put way too much on and it got into the threads of the bolt, essentially turning it into thread locker instead of just sealing it. I could not remove that bolt no matter how much leverage I had on the socket. Ended up rounding the bolt on the ends and called said Walmart. They said that they would not touch it if the bolt was rounded/damaged. I simply needed the bolt broke free so I could do an oil change. They refused. Thankfully, the Tiffin, Ohio Walmart understood that it was an extremely inconvenient situation that was the fault of whoever did the oil change last and agreed to get that bolt off for me, and I am very appreciative of it. The lady walked away to continue her conversation with another cashier. I walked away to self checkout and and it said that i needed verification. I waited. Nobody was at the self checkout area, I could have easily stolen it. I went and waited at customer service just to make a purchase! Went to Walmart looking for a sweatshirt. There were absolutely none. They only had their summer clothing line out. However, this Walmart is right near Lake Erie where it is known to be very windy and cold. There were Men's sweatshirts in Navy, Grey and Black. I did not want to have a Men's sweatshirt!! I just had a very bad experience here trying to exchange a defective item that stopped working less than 30 days after I purchased it. I bought something for my son who lives there and returned to Phoenix. He misplaced the receipt but I knew he should be able to return it for another unit without his receipt. Well, apparently, at this particular Walmart you MUST have a receipt for a return or an exchange. I know of no other retailer that doesn't honor an exchange with a valid ID. My son just moved to this town, so he clearly hasn't ever done this before. The customer service department was not at all helpful and borderline on rude. The store Manager would not speak to me and the employee who placed me on hold hung up on me. Please don't waste your time when retailers like Target and Costco will refund anything anytime anywhere by using your method of payment as the verification. Join the 21st century Walmart! read more

Worst Walmart I know of. No respect for the customer. Typical Walmart store size, good grocery selection, seemingly oblivious to local grocery competition. Consistently TERRIBLE checkout experiences; long waits are common even with few people in the store. The policy seems to be if the lines get short, close another lane. Often only two checkout people on. Have seen only half the lanes open on peek holiday shopping days. More than once experience an attendant at self-checkout who was condescending, impatient, and downright rude in response to problems caused by their equipment, not by me (which shouldn't make any difference.) And don't get me started on the customer service counter - slow, surly and inflexible. There is a culture of contempt for the customer at this store. The pharmacy is an exception and a bright spot; the people are busy and stressed, but still helpful and accommodating. read more

I quite an experience there. After waiting for Tasha (checkout girl) to VERY SLOWLY check out a couple people before us We were finally the next person in line at checkout. We waited so long for Tasha (checkout girl) to meander through the people before us (and hear a manager complain about breaking apart some water cases) that my young daughter had to use the bathroom while we were in line. So we left my husband in line to put the items up (because by this time we were next in line) I actually had time to hear my daughter rumble on about some long story, take a huge poop (not the original game plan when she went in the bathroom), wash her hands with soap and water while singing the ABC song, talk to her snoopy stuffed animal, and get back into line before my husband even got a chance to unload the cart! There are no prices on anything and nothing is in the right spot so you have to search for a scanner (which are always broke or there just plain isn't any). read more
