I love Walmart! For the most point they have most items in stock. The prices are awesome and affordable. However a lot of their staff is often very unprofessional. Yelling, rude and listening to loud music while on the clock. The stockers for the most part are rude and not very helpful. If you ask a lot of them for assistance they act like you are bothering them. I will however consider that they maybe over worked and feel unappreciated since Covid. I am sorry if they feel that way. Because if not for Walmart people wouldn't be able to get a lot of their food or medicine. Thank you for continuing to work at this time. I just ask that they smile more and be more friendly. Curbside pickup was a HORRIBLE experience. Waited over 20 minutes for a parking spot to open up. Then was parked for 45 minutes just to receive my item. Why on earth don't they give an estimate to how long it will take when you call in your parking spot number? Pretty good shopping experience, it was fast and easy. Must have a mask to get in the store. Good selection of fruits like berries, peaches, nectarines and plums. We picked up some, so my daughter could have fruit in her dorm. Overall the place was orderly and clean. The self checkout area was quick and efficient so as to expedite the shopping experience. We were looking for spray bottles but we couldn't find any. I am also looking for a small refrigerator for my daughter's dorm, we found 2 models, one with a small freezer and one without, so we are going to check prices online before making a final decision since we dont need it yet but if price is right, i will come back and just pick it up. I was looking for cleaning product and i was not able to find lysol spray, nobody seems to have it in stock. This store in near SUNY Binghamton, so we will definitely be visiting this store often! read more

Very bad first impression of this Walmart. I went into the store to the book section, pick up a book and decided I didn't want it and put it down in the store. I went to grab milk and after paying and walking out, I was stopped by two workers accusing me of stealing a book I didn't have with an attitude. I was more confused than in shock but very terrible accusation from the staff and very unprofessional. I will not be coming back there again. read more

For a few weeks, I felt safe going here. They adhered to the rules and placed safety as an important issue but then a couple weeks ago, the safety lines came down, the early hour for high risk people became less important and the employees in a large majority, seemed to not care about distance in any way. Please don't misunderstand as I am very grateful for the work they are doing right now but this walmart has already tested positive near Easter and we are spiking again. I just had major surgery about a month ago and still recovering, I get tested every time I go into the hospital in PA. I am high risk and don't appreciate the lack of importance they give. Masks give a little protection but it has to be combined with distance. One security guard actually asked me why I was waiting when he kept approaching me at the door. I had to be explicit, as it seems the new thing now I have to do, in saying to him that I just had surgery not long ago and to please maintain his distance. Stockers will brush against you without even glancing at you and I'm scared stiff of other 'high risk' shoppers that have brushed against me as they pass in produce or whatever with their carts. My son went with me last time as we had to go for my sugar free popsicles (one of the few things I can still eat right now). I try to get delivery or pickup but they say they can't add certain things and a lot out of stock but then I find out they are there in the store. I do find a lot out of stock now as well; important things that are essential. Like hay. I can no longer even go here for the fact that they rarely carry hay anymore-the main reason I can go as a one stop shop. We have a guinea pig rescue and two rabbits that are our family but it isn't important during the time of covid to take these beloved pets in consideration. I've asked several times and they are waiting stock. Never happened before. I know it's more difficult right now but I can honestly only think the manager doesn't place importance on them. I just stick back now with wegmans and amazon for everything; they are more consistent and reliable as well as seem to understand when a person is feeling unsafe. Its Walmart. You know what to expect. And at this location, you will find it. Super Huge, and Super Busy, but they have it all, grocery to tires. I hope you only come here to find something you have not been able to find in a smaller local store, remember, all the profits here leave the area, but if you cant find it anywhere else, it will be here. I use the "self checkout" and have not had any issues there, but I will say the lines for the checkout people were long. I did find the parking here to be difficult (at best) and some of the other patrons very aggressive, both in driving in the lot as well as cart management in the store. read more

They never have enough electric scooters for the amount of people in the store, it is supposed to be a Walmart Supercenter, then have enough of these scooters, their is like 4 or 5 , never plugged in and always outside in the parking lot. You need about 10 of them, the other Walmart in Johnson city has more and they are a smaller store!!!!! I always come here to do my weekly grocery shopping, sometimes I come twice, thrice, or whatever the word for 4 times is. There was a period of time when I would drive here at 3AM. Why, you ask? This is a typical Walmart. If you have to choose between the JC Walmart and the Vestal Walmart, go with the Vestal Walmart. It does what Walmart does best -- good value on everyday items. Always some of the lowest prices on a large selection of products. We almost always buy cereal, housecleaning supplies, and toiletries here. Couple of things that are not ideal (but also not unique to this Walmart) -- 1. The parking lot is a nightmare, 2. Theft is common in Walmart, so be sure to check your items. I once bought some Burt's Bees lip balm and got home to find that one of the packages was empty, 3. A lower level of cleanliness/orderliness compared to Target. It is sometimes a little smelly, the floors on occasion are visibly dirty, and the shelves are often in disarray. Shopping at Walmart is not what I would consider a really pleasant experience, but the value is good so we continue to shop there for the savings. read more

Today I bought boneless skinless chicken breast, when I got home I went to split the breasts in half upon doing so I found a lot of bone in those breasts. If I had known this I would not have shopped there. I returned an item that did not work and to out the cash is aggravating. They did not offer any solutions. When I returned the item 15 of us stood in line while a guy walked up and returned his item butting ahead of all if us. The cashier should have said go to the end of the line!!! Getting a shot. Paying taxes. Going to Wal-Mart...what are "painful necessities of life?" Sure the prices are low, probably lower than anywhere else. But in order to earn those low prices, you have to deal with epically long lines at the checkout, the rudest possibly dressing room attendants, and worst of all - the general public (on one such occassion, the elderly gentleman on the Rascal scooter who wears a sweatshirt and baseball cap covered in Bible quotes in puff paint cut ahead of me in line. Apparently, "love thy neighbor" does not apply in Wal-Mart). Here's an irony: the store is big enough to have its own zipcode, and yet, it doesn't carry/is frequently out of most of the products I try to find there. And what if, God forbid, you need to find something random, like....a chip clip? Is it in Grocery? Housewares? Apparently neither. But with so much uncertain about Wal-Mart, there is one thing that is certain: you will always have one too many purchases to qualify for the "express lane" (which is still painfully slow, ironically enough), and as soon as you make it to the front of your checkout line, you will remember that one thing you forgot...all the way in the back of the store. read more

So its February in upstate NY.. I have a foot of snow in my driveway and a pellet stove that's empty. So off to the Vestal Walmart I go. I walk past the swimsuits, charcoal, grills, and swimming pool chemicals.. and they have no rock salt or pellets. They do however have gardening supplies and top soil. I am at a loss for words, or at least polite ones. This store is larger than most schools.. one would think that they would carry items that are needed NOW, if not instead of perhaps in addition to, the things that are needed 3 months from now. They would have probably sold thousands of dollars worth of pellets and salt over the past week.. but instead made 20-30 bucks on a couple bags of dirt. read more

I've been to Walmart so many times that I could probably navigate the store with my eyes closed. They basically have everything that you need, but their groceries are lacking. Some things are just of bad quality, while there are just some things that you can't find. But that's okay, Walmart, I still love you regardless. I always come here to buy things that I need, but I usually end up buying so much more. Everything is so cheap, but it quickly adds up when you buy so much. Hi, Walmart of Binghamton University/Vestal, I love you so much. This is the biggest Walmart I've ever stepped into. I used to be one of those people that was like, "ew, Walmart sucks" but I'm SO converted now. I walked in and it was as if I found the promise land. IT HAS EVERYTHING. I found this fragrant vanilla coffee here that I couldn't find in the Walmarts back at home. It's also 24 HOURS!!! Am I the only one who enjoys grocery shopping at 2am? Maybe so but I'm sure there's a few of you around that enjoy peace, quiet and NO LINES. I don't even go to BU and I'm telling ya, this Walmart is one of the reasons why I would go back to visit my best friend. -0... 8 motorized carts broken. Time consuming to wait for non broken ones to be available due to staff at Walmart allowing teens and kids to ride them and break stuff and laugh. Seen it not happy. For myself and for family and friends that need them time to time during medical reasons and stuff. Iv'e been shopping here for many years and have spent thousands of dollars and have been relatively satisfied with the experience. However today when we shopped we had paper towels and bath tissue in the cart which weren't bagged due to the size; this was common since Iv'e been shopping there. We were stopped at the door and asked for our receipt to show that we had paid for them; needless to say I was not happy!! Apparently they thought that I was stealing them???? I was insulted to say the least!!! I understand that they want to control inventory loss but it wasn't like it was an expensive electronic, it was toilet paper in a cart full of bagged groceries!!!! I also had a gallon of milk that was leaking so the cashier scanned it through and I though asked someone to get another one for us. Once we started to load the groceries in the car I realized that we didn't have the milk so I went back in and spoke to the cashier that checked us out and she instructed me to go to the service counter because that's where they took it to because we had left the store. I went to the service desk and they said no it wasn't there and instructed me to go all the way in the back of the store and get another one, bring it back to them and they would bag it? Why should I have had to go back and get it when I already picked it up the first time! What an inconvenience! Furthermore, the store has definitely gone down hill; the shelves are always half empty, the selection is terrible and it's generally in disarray!! This store is very large and they literally have everything your going to need. From groceries to electronics to things around the house. The staff is really helpful and the prices are obviously great. But because of its large size, finding things can sometimes take a long time and a lot of walking. The customer service in this store is the worst . It's truly astonishing. I'm still on a call while writing this. It's been 50 minutes. I have a simple question. The person answering the phone interrupted me three times while asking a ten second question, then transferred me to a department I didn't need to talk with, waited on hold for twenty minutes without speaking to anyone, to be transferred back to her. She interrupted my question three more times and said she was transferring me to a manager. Came back to her again, transferred me to customer service, they disconnected me, called back, transfer to customer service, disconnected, called back, interrupted me and transferred me to a manger, sill on hold 50 minutes later. At this point, it is almost humorous. While on hold, I looked the item up on amazon, ordered it,cheaper, and it will be here at ten tomorrow morning. I'm staying on hold just to see how long this charade will last! Lol 60 minutes and counting now! Lol 80 minutes.. one hour and twenty minutes now! I've called back twice and still on hold. This store has really made college living affordable. I come here every week for groceries and toiletries and I don't think I would be able to afford it without walmart. I bought a pack and play today. When I got home the product that was in the box was clearly not what it was supposed to be and was damaged. Looked chewed up by a pet. When I brought it back to the store they said they would not do anything because it's not the product on the box. A box they allowed to be on their shelves and sold to me. THis walmart is very different from the one back home. I like it because the employees are happy to help you and aren't depressed all the time. The wage and living expenses that are cheaper in binghamton do make the difference between a good walmart and a bad one. Back home, the workers in Walmart are angry at their wages because what can you get in the astronomically inflated bay area for 8 dollars an hour? Absolutely nothing.
