We stopped at this SuperWalmart on the way down to Westerly. It's a large and busy store....as you walk in the health and beauty section (along with the pharmacy) are on the right hand side of the store. We went in to get a few things for the beach house as well as some water. They have lots of self checkout registers which makes getting out of it, very quick and easy. The prices are pretty good, but in this huge warehouse, be prepared to find everything yourself, since there are almost no employees to assist you on the floor. Check out times are very long here as well...at least they were before they installed self-checkouts, which i refuse to patronize because they put people out of work. I did, however, hear of a proposed bill to require one human employee for every self-checkout in the store, which kind of makes sense to me! read more

I like WalMart Supercenters, because I can get my groceries and my toothpaste at the same time here. That said, let's focus on the groceries. In all honesty, I find the selection of food slightly thinner here than at a big name grocery store. But when I find something, it's always cheaper here. I'll usually get my snack chips or frozen food here. For example, I can get bags of Totino's Pizza Rolls here for $12. They're $18 at Shaw's. I know that sounds silly, but you haven't lived until you've tried deep-fried pizza rolls at 1 AM for a post-drinking snack. read more

OK so I have never been a fan of Walmart but with all the shortages at all the area grocery stores and lack of access to many options sometimes we just need a quick trip to Walmart to pick up those essentials you cant find anywhere else... I have to say I hate going here. Hate it with a passion. This place is sooooo huge! like not in a good way. They blocked all the entrances so that you have to walk ALLLLLLL the way down to one end of the building, it seems like a mile, and then wrap around temporary fencing they have out front as if you are going through a TSA check-point or a Dave Mathews concert, but nope... It's just to get to the one door they let you in. ONCE IN, you are on your own here. The amount of people not wearing masks or wearing them around their chin or under their nose is quite alarming. They are SOOOO many isles that I get so overwhelmed. Once you finally made your way to the front to check out this is where its like all hell broke loose. There are lines of people, on-top of one another and when you are waiting for the cashier to check you out, you have the cashier in-front of you, the one behind you, people on one side and the other side and well.... It's just not safe. I think they could do a little less outside since any time I have ever been, I've only walked the mile trek to get to the entrance and to never have anyone waiting nor have I ever witnessed a rush of people trying to get in. The real problem is the checkout area. FIGURE IT OUT! I know this is Covid related but it is their responsibility to figure the flow out and do it in a way that keeps us all safe. I don't like this Walmart. Self check out lines always stuffed with lines the sales associates over there don't do nothing about it or help anyone. Browses asiles can't find anything I'm looking for can't find an associate on the floor in like a half hour. When you find one you ask for help they don't help. Just say oh the curtain rods are that and I'm like ok but you're supposed to have the customer follow you to the asile to show where they are. I've worked in retail too this is appalling. You don't wanna help people then don't work here. The only department I like here is the electronics one, the other ones means wait like a half hour for somebody to help you or go up to customer service to complain and they do nothing about it. I cannot believe someone would say "Walmart is pretty much your go to shopping destination if you want to stay local." Westerly is not fly over country. You don't have to drive for miles to just one shopping destination for all your needs. There are plenty of options for buying "local" if you know the area & aren't lazy. I may be a snob but I'd never buy my groceries at WalMart. We have a Shaw's & Stop & Shop which are much better. Sandy's & McQuade's are also acceptable. During the summer months there are plenty of farmers markets & stands to purchase vegetables & fruit at. I also wouldn't buy any clothes or shoes in WalMart. If I chose to I could buy shoes at Carrie's on High Street. There are many of local boutiques that sell pretty good clothing too but there's slim pickings for men. We do have a TJ Maxx & JC Penny for options too. There's a Subway in WalMart but I refuse to lower myself into eating at any of their establishments. The quality is so subpar & the stench of their bread makes me sick. Want a good sandwich in Westerly? Go to Ten or Pick Pockets or Reale's. There are many options. Should I go on? Benny's itself is an alternative to WalMart & has many similar items. They carry toys & bikes. You could also go to Ray Willis which has both bikes & toys or the Wise Owl for toys & Brumble for bikes. Bottom line is anything you can get at WalMart, you can get locally. The quality might be better but the prices might be higher. I go to WalMart on occasion but I'm not someone who hates it. My wife hates WalMart. BEST WALMART AROUND This place has everything you can think of for great deals. We are from CT and every year when we come to westerly we get excited to shop at this Walmart. They have many items to choose from whatever you need they got it. Even the clothes selection is nicer than most Walmart's. Very clean here and so are the restrooms. Went in to buy my niece a razor black label electric scooter that listed when put in Google as $69. At the store it showed a price of $98. When I went to find someone to get some clarity I was met by a rude woman named Erin that stated that she "ran the store" and that she wouldn't care to look at my phone and that I could just look on the app and that she didn't know what I was looking at. "Probably just a ad to get you in the door" she said. The boxes were torn as if they were used. When we asked for the corporate number she barked it at us. When we asked her why she was being so rude she got defensive and said I got to walk away from you now. As a person that likes to still shop in the store (dying breed) I think I'm going to have to switch to Amazon. Horrible customer service!!! False advertising. Shop elsewhere. read more

No Walmart, not a single one, deserve 5 stars. If we were talking purely on prices and product selection, I would give every Walmart in the universe 5 stars. However, this Walmart, like so many other Walmarts, needs a heavy makeover when it comes to customer service. When you live in Westerly, Walmart is pretty much your go to shopping destination if you want to stay local. I've been to this Walmart dozens of times. In fact, I was there today. I must mention that the cashier who checked me out today was very pleasant, and if all cashiers were like her, then this rating would have been higher. That being said, this Walmart is horribly understaffed, even in the summer when they have a lot of seasonal help. I never find a checkout lane that doesn't have multiple customers already waiting in line. I'm sure this is a problem at every Walmart. In the end, you have to accept the business practices of the establishment you give your money to. Walmart's prices are low because they have the ability to bulk buy for thousands of Walmart stores. They also own their own warehouses and distribution. The best value for your dollar is at Walmart, just don't expect a smile from most of the workers, and be prepared to wait in line. read more

This is the best Walmart you'll ever find, the staff is normal, the customers seem to be normal, and it's big. I bought frozen pizza, underwear, and fishing equipment! When I am visiting Westerly there is always something I seem to need at that very moment that I didn't have before and what better place to get it than a Walmart that isn't a pain to experience. Regardless of whether or not you like Walmart, this one is just bad. The produce is disgusting, fruit flies all over it, on the verge of spoiling, and just plain gross. In addition to the nasty produce, the store is not well stocked at all. Walmart is supposed to be your one-stop shopping trip which is a plus when you've got small children, but EVERY time I go to walmart (which is increasingly less and less) there is at least one item I need that is not stocked. Rotten vegetables in produce, bad meats in the deli, sometimes not even a gallon of milk to be found. A North Korean Walmart would be better supplied than this dump. I came here to pick up some toiletries, since I knew they'd be cheapest here. I am always in awe over most Walmart stores because they're massive in comparison to most stores in NYC (with the exception of the shopping plaza in East Harlem that has a massive Target). The variety of products was a plus, but as I walked around the entire store, I noticed a LOT of out-of-stocks in various departments, which in the Walmart world is a big no-no. I thought Walmart prided itself as having one of the most intuitive and state-of-the-art inventory management systems, and it's clearly failed at this location. The check out staff was friendly, but the store seemed to be in disarray, which was a turn off. The produce looked sad, so I feel bad for whoever actually buys it (I wonder how much nutrient content actually exists in this produce considering how depressing it looks). Overall, if I need anything and I'm in the area again, I'd come back here, but there is nothing to rave about other than the prices. read more

Hey, it's a Walmart. Everyone knows what they are like by now. Interestingly, the cashiers and staff are friendly and the prices more reasonable unlike their major overpriced competitor in the area. Went here at 11:30 to grab some supplies on vacation. As we are walking to the door, an employees yells over and tells us the hours are changed due to renovation. So my best friend is proposing to his girlfriend at my house and her one request was to have limes for her beers for the weekend. So I went to the one place I knew would have whAt I was looking for, wal-mart, great reputation great company, until today. I walk in to produce couldn't find a produce clerk for over an hour. By this time my friends are at my house waiting on the limes that I had promised. The manager came down we will call him bob, he said he had some limes in the back he would get them to just hang on, another hour went by then he comes back with a wooden crate full of dirty moldy limes and 2 cans of lime juice. I needed 35 he only had 6. I was appalled by this. So I bought the six lemons anyway because I need them. They are not married today because of it and it's now my fault. read more

I went to Walmart one rainy evening to buy a few items on my list. Right away I had multiple people who asked me if I needed help, and made sure I received what I needed. When checking out, I had about 30 items, but the guy in the 20 and less line didn't have anybody and waved me over, which was great. And, finally, when I was putting my items in my car my umbrella blew away and one of the workers chased after my umbrella and gave it back to me. Friendly staff, low cost items, and easy to navigate. REDICULOUS!!! They charged me 50 dollars to get my photos printed. Before I walked out the door I checked! THEY EXPOSED MY FILM AND EVERY PHOTO WAS BLACK! They treated me with disrespect when I went to return it! How ridiculous is this? Exposing my film, then charging me 50 dollars for black photos? I don't think so.
