This Wal-Mart is an average Wal-Mart. Their parking lots are huge so it's not that hard to find parking. Although, when it's busy, you may have to park a little farther but look on the bright side: you get your exercise! I was actually impressed with this Wal-Mart just because it was very tidy and well-maintained inside and the longs were surprisingly fast. I originally came in here to get some allergy medicine and I was able to find it quickly. If you want to get your nails done, they have a nail shop here and also if you want your pet to be groomed, they have services for that here.

Excellent bird food selection!!! I make an incredible recipes for the SUPER FEEDERS!!!

I will rate this experience 5 stars, the highest possible because I been going here for years with great success! The bird food selection is excellent! I have been blessed with unparalleled vision for deer and evil! ALL GLORY GOES TO GOD ... Without the Lord Jesus Christ I am nothing!

Gorgeous day today! Need to get in and out quick haha

Let's face it. It's pretty hard to find people that haven't been to Walmart. Many moons ago, I remember driving from Chicago to St. Louis, and you knew you hit another town when you saw yet another Walmart. If you are on the Internet at all (and I'm assuming you are, since you are reading this) chances are you've seen the many memes out there featuring some of this company's more... Ehm... Notorious customers. That being said, I enjoy writing reviews, and I lack the type of income that will allow me to simply visit every fine dining establishment near and far. I have a normal, ho-hum life, and this life necessitates a trip to Walmart fairly regularly. Now I know what someone out there is thinking. Go to Target! It's higher end! Less trashy! Now, while I love a good Target trip (as I am fairly certain there is something in the air in their stores which causes a woman's ovaries to tingle in just such a way that makes one desire to buy ALL THE THINGS) I usually head to Walmart as it's closer, and less expensive etc etc etc. NOW on to THIS Walmart in particular. It is one of the smaller ones in the area, so sometimes I feel like the Gurnee location, for example, may have a slightly larger selection. The Zion location was recently remodeled, however, so it really isn't that bad. If you've read any of my other reviews, you know I moved here from Chicago, and I am here to tell you that the Zion location, on it's worst day, is still infinity more tolerable than any store bordering the city on its best. At other locations, I may as well sit in a corner and rock back and forth sobbing softly to myself if I find myself in need of assistance. People at this location are generally willing to help (look for me somewhere in grocery, trying desperately to reach something on a top shelf. Very amusing, I promise!) and tend to walk around with less of that dead stare needed to avoid making eye contact with customers while walking around. Cashiers are typically friendly as well, which is nice when, like me, you have a ridiculously large order. (I have a cashier whom I have an ongoing conversation with, she remembers me by the amount of half and half I buy: thankfully, it's not something like anti-itch cream!) As with any other Walmart ever, there are pretty much only 2 registers ever open (not counting express or self checkout... If you are only grabbing a thing or two, you stand a much better chance of getting out quickly!) and on a busy day, the typical game of bumper cars ala shopping carts may be enough to head for the liquor aisle. But there is plenty of parking (if you are like me and willing to walk) and really, if you are in need of lots of oddball things, Walmart is probably the closest thing to a one stop shop.

They need to do a little less chatting to each other and start paying attention to the customers!

Typical Walmart store. Crowded at times but employees were good. Subway smelled great.

I like this Jewel very much! I especially like their pick up service. They will chat with you if…read morethey need to possibly substitute an order. My favorite food is at the deli or the bakery! They also have good items prepared and you take home and bake them. Good chicken! It is a busy store! If you read the aisles you can find your items or ask! I usually do self check out . The store is friendly and it is relatively clean for the busy atmosphere. I am happy there is a Jewel I can attend and get my favorite shopping needs and buy select items which are Jewel items

On January 26, 2026, at approximately 8:44 PM, I contacted the Jewel-Osco location at 1400 21st…read moreStreet, Zion, IL 60099 to confirm availability of a carpet shampooer for a 24-hour rental. A store associate confirmed that two units were available, took my name, and assured me I could come in. Given that it was 6 degrees outside, road conditions were poor, and I was dealing with red wine stains on cream-colored carpet, I drove approximately 36 minutes to this location based on that confirmation. Upon arrival, I went directly to customer service. The associate there explained he was unfamiliar with the rental process and went to locate someone who could assist. He returned with an individual who I later learned was the Assistant Store Manager. This individual approached me shaking his head and immediately stated that they were not renting out any shampooers at that time. He did not introduce himself, wore no name badge, and presented himself in an unprofessional manner. I informed him that I had just called and confirmed availability prior to driving there. Rather than attempting to verify inventory, problem-solve, or offer alternatives, he simply dismissed me. Only after I firmly stated that I had traveled specifically for this rental and requested management assistance did anything move forward. What was most concerning is that neither the Assistant Store Manager nor the team lead present seemed to know the basic protocol for equipment rentals. In any retail environment, especially in leadership roles, managers are expected to understand core store operations or, at minimum, know how to quickly locate the correct resources. Leadership is about resolving issues--not avoiding them. As someone who understands store operations, I find this unacceptable. Managers are typically trained across departments specifically to prevent situations like this. Instead of taking ownership, the Assistant Store Manager stood by while frontline staff absorbed the pressure. It was only after I stated I would escalate the matter to corporate that assistance was finally provided. I want to acknowledge Ana, the cashier who ultimately helped me complete the rental. Ana demonstrated professionalism, patience, and competence throughout the process. I later learned she has special needs, which makes it even more troubling that she showed more knowledge, initiative, and customer service than the Assistant Store Manager--who likely earns significantly more and receives leadership incentives. Based on the way I was initially brushed off and dismissed despite having confirmed availability, I genuinely felt that I was not taken seriously, and I question whether my ethnicity played a role in how I was treated. Incompetence in leadership damages employee morale, customer trust, and sales. Customers should not have to stand their ground just to receive basic service. Had I not remained firm, I would have been sent away after making a long drive in unsafe conditions for no reason. This experience was deeply disappointing and unacceptable. Until accountability is taken seriously at this location, you will not receive my business. By the way the manager im speaking on Eric Wesner
