Three times now we have been through this issue with the credit card offer three times I have said no and three times I have complained to both management and corporate. One day you're gonna to do it to the wrong person and instead of a complaint someone could end up getting hurt because people don't know how to take no for an answer. Not that it's right but at some point we as humans can only take so much before we hit our breaking point. I would never cross that line but as I told the mod I have a short temper and I don't take this bull from anyone and I am not afraid to use my words and put them in their place. Awful shopping experience every time. Zero baskets available, you need to hunt one down at self checkout before you begin shopping, carts arent accessible unless you have loose change. May 31 around after 4pm I was at the store on my way to check out and the fire alarm went off. You couldn't even hear the announcement as if the person is just rambling over the speaker plus the staff were all cluelesS running from here and there. i assume it the either the store supervisor or manager who didn't know what he was doing. It was a mad house and nobody knew what to do. Today, Saturday 14th, 2023, at 7:30 am, I visited the store in New Westminster to buy chicken $ 12.00, Premier protein for $ 22.00, bread $ 6.00, tea $ 14.00, cereal $ 8.00. When I was self-checking, one item didn't scan and show the screen to me. An employee between 50 and 60 years old thought I was trying to cheat the system. It is not a big Walmart despite the supercentre tag. I shop here occasionally. Generally the prices are lower for the produce when compared to Safeway or Save on Food (the other two nearest chain grocery stores in New West). It is also lower for toiletries and household products, unless there are promotions going on in London Drugs or other retailers. I always forget to do price matching or I only found out about the price difference after the purchase and I cannot be bothered to go back for a 50 cents refund or something. It has less ethnic food variety when compared to the Walmart stores at Lougheed Mall and Surrey Central City Mall. I wish I could give no stars. I bought a popsocket at the Walmart in Queensborough on Thanksgiving as I was in that neighborhood for the first time in months. The popsocket didn't make it a few hours before it fell off of my phone. Multiple times. I went to the Walmart on 6th in New Westminster as it was only a slightly less deviation from the Highway than driving back to the Queensborough store. I had my receipt, bag, package and ID. I was told at Customer Service Counter that they couldn't refund my money as I had opened the package. When I explained that I opened the package to USE the item and it did not work, that is a faulty product that they sold. I was told that I was welcome to drive back to Queensborough to return the item for a full refund with bag, package and receipt. I was not going to waste another 40 minutes and litres of gas for a stupid return. I pulled up the Walmart Canada return policy and read it out to the Customer Service person that replaced the first indifferent girl and the second not useful faux manager. After about 20 minutes my money was refunded to my debit card. I get it: these people make shit wages and don't care about my shopping experience. My takeaway is that Walmart would rather have you walk away in frustration and leave your money, patience, purchase and positivity behind on the counter. They are a soulless hungry pit that feeds on your hard earned income and humanity. Thank you Walmart for reminding me why I didn't shop at your convenient sweat shop for years! My partner, a black man with dreads was harassed and accused of stealing at this store yesterday, April 13th 2022. He was walking through Walmart, he didn't even stop in any of the isles and as he was about to exit, a clerk at the front started to yell loudly at security to stop him as he was about to exit the store. "STOP HIM, STOP HIM HE DIDNT PAY FOR THAT" she yelled so loudly that everyone in the area was looking and staring at him like he had stolen something or was dangerous. She accused him of stealing a bottle of Gatorade, which he had just purchased at Dollarama inside the mall. The Walmart store doesn't have any cold Gatorade and his was ice cold after coming out of the cooler at Dollarama which is how they knew it wasn't from Walmart and they let him go, plus he had his receipt and his online banking showed a purchase for Dollarama for only a couple of dollars. My partner has been crying ever since this happened. You humiliated an innocent man based on racial profiling over a 3$ Gatorade that he didnt even steal and you all should be ashamed of yourselves. I will be coming to the store to speak with the manager to ensure that she/he can properly train their staff so that another innocent black person isn't a victim of your team and their racial profiling. If you aren't white, becareful going to this location and if you have to, keep your receipts for anything you purchased before walking into the store to protect yourself. Beware of Walmart security charging for single use masks. They are asking for a dollar for a mask, they are targeting people with disabilities, but when confronted they say it's for charity but there's nothing posted about any charity. If they're charging a dollar, then post it, if it's going to charity, post which charity it goes to... New Westminster Walmart is so shading. Honestly, really poor customer service. I accidentally grabbed a set of kids PJs without a price tag and was told I could either not buy them or go back and grab a set with a tag because they weren't going to do a price check. And actually my child was pretty severely injured on the escalator here about a year ago and I never had follow-up from them. There are no additional safety signs or warnings in the area since his injury. The staff was very underprepared in terms of emergency response. I still feel traumatized when I go in there. read more

O went to buy a specif Baby Alive doll model, that was in sale. A huge post over top the shelf announced the sale of almost 50% off. O have looked all the options and all them were blond dolls, except a single one, that was behind all the boxes. I choose the black one. I was at the store earlier. (Royal city center about 15 mins ago) going through the self check out. I basically got chased out by the staff on site. I like Walmart. I have been in many Walmart's across Canada and without a doubt this is the worst one. Numerous times I've gone for sale items in the flyer and they don't even get the stock in. (every week this is the case) Countless times I've had to waste even more time in there long lines because I was over charged due to sale items not ringing in correctly. Decent prices, but bad management comes to my mind. Be mindful of your shopping especially "on sale" items. CHECK YOUR RECEIPT. I'm regularly charged the original prices for the "on sale" /discounted items. Also, check the price on shelves and make sure there is only one price for the item you are buying. The chances are you will end up paying the highest price. Again, check multiple buys with reduced price e.g. "three breads" for $6, Two fried chicken for $15. This place is checkout mayhem. Why does it take more time to check out then it does to shop? Because they are trying to train us to do there job. Not that they are good at it anyways. I can't count the times I have gone in with my own bags and they have charged me for them anyways. That's theft in my book. Why do they have 2 tills open both with long lines and they have 3 people in the self checkout area with 2 customers? Not to mention the usual 1 or 2 employees they send out to direct us to the self checkout. They are training us to do there jobs, and then they will get fired. Remember when bank machines came out? The tellers helped us use them. Now I have a virtual bank, I never see an employee, they've all been let go. Remember gas attendants that pumped your gas and cleaned your windshield? Now we have to do it ourselves. Whats next? Do it yourself surgery? A restaurant where you go in and cook your own food and serve yourself? Buffet is half way there. I have been accosted by staff at the exit 6 times now. Three times were physical. (Checking to see if there were stolen goods under my coat once; and frankly, the other time, was copping a feel, I believe.) Tonight, an employee ran after me, and at elevator behind me gruffly said "where's your receipt?" He had been looking at African violets when I was leaving the store - because he's not at his post doesn't make it ok to chase me down. In digging through my bag for the receipt that he barely glanced at anyway, I had to take out the item I expressly went there for and so, ended up leaving it behind by mistake! I don't think it's fair to make employees act like we're criminals and they're cops - their policy toward both greeters (AKA security forces) and customers is appalling. I also found a fly embedded in Balderson's cheese there - the manager was unreachable. They start stock work before the store is closed, so giant palettes become "accidents waiting to happen: - I've seen shoppers trip on the corners. Fortunately the ones I saw didn't seem hurt in the moment, anyway. Just cursing - understandable, because these should not be blocking shoppers ; paths nor products. I had to, with effort, use cart to move palette to get at what I came for. Which was a second choice because the first choice wasn't in stock - which FREQUENTLY happens at the 4th Ave. New West location. When I did see a very high shoplifter running fast out of Walmart - do you think there were staff around? No way. Some of the cashiers are lovely. This is a new location that opened up recently in the past few months. I came here 'cause I was gifted a gift card last year for $20 and I am finally getting around to using it. I wasn't in the mood to spend my own money, therefore, used that $20 to get some gifts for friends (tangible items). I knew about the soft opening, however, avoided it thinking that they wouldn't have their shit together. Waiting a few weeks was a bad decision considering that it was busy full of Christmas shoppers. The odd thing is that I walked around the Walmart for 75 minutes and nothing personally interested me. Instead I ended up buying things for other people. I spent a good portion in the CD selection and was disappointed. The make up and hair department left me flat as my own hair in the morning. I needed customer service three times and aside from the lady at the til everyone seemed as though they would rather be doing anything but help. When asked for a refund at customer service, they asked my husband, who could hardly walk due to his knee pain, to get the double charged item from his car parked underground, to get Walmart to correct their own mistake of double charging for a single item. The evil empire has opened a second location in NDP voting territory. Calling this location a Supercentre is a bit of a stretch since they crammed a Wally World into the old Royal City Centre Zellers / Dollarama and it lacks a Tire & Lube Express and Mickey D's. Service is just as crappy as you'd expect at any other Walmart. I asked for help from the pharmacy to locate an item and they told me to go down a few aisles. Since the pharmacy had no customers and it was the grand opening, you'd think they would have walked me to the product. A supervisor walked up to my cashier and yelled at her for not having her checkout light on. The poor checker was struggling with the non-working register while my thumb was up my butt. In addition, this wannabee manager failed to utter the word hello on opening day. Yeah, it's a Walmart through and through. Decided to check out this Walmart as it had just opened up; I thought they might have some grand opening specials. I'm not sure why I thought that. They didn't. As the previous reviewer said, it's not actually a superstore. There's no tire/lube and no McDonald's. They sell groceries along with the rest of the merchandise though, so that might possibly warrant the word "Superstore." The food prices here seemed higher than at other Walmart's. Maybe I'm wrong, but food is definitely cheaper at Save On Foods. Walmart does price match though if you bring in a flyer. The selection wasn't great, so I'll continue doing my grocery shopping elsewhere. I still ended up buying a couple of things. The cashier was fast and friendly. After I paid, I realized that I overpaid for something. The price on the shelf was less than what I paid. I mentioned this to the cashier who told me I'd have to go to customer service. There was no line at customer service so I decided to go and get my dollar back. I showed customer service my receipt and my item. In return, they gave me a full refund and let me keep the product! I had no idea, but if you purchase something at Walmart under $10 and pay the wrong price for it, Walmart will give you a full refund and let you keep the product. Sweet! Thanks Walmart! read more

Walmart wants customers to open everything before buying. I picked up a package of exercise weights. When I got home, there was only one weight instead of two. I tried to return it and the clerk, with no name tag on, was deliberately rude. She asked why didn't I open the package in the store and see if there were two? The seal is broken. Didn't I see that when I picked it up? I had bought the item, taken it home, opened it up and found an item missing. How would she know if the seal had been broken before I bought it, unless she already knew there was a problem with the item and it had still been returned to the shelf? She walked away, came back and said you can have an exchange only, no refund. I had told her before there weren't any others. She said I could only have an exchange. As I walked away I said 'I do Yelp'! I went back to the shelving and sure enough, empty. So, I left the item on the shelf. It was 'returned' without a refund. Hopefully, someone else won't pick it up. Maybe it will mess with Walmart's inventory. However, if customers are to open packages in the store to check items are in good condition...what about opening EVERYTHING? Cereal packages! Cat food! Packaged meat! Shouldn't that grey beef get a good sniff before you shell out hard earned money for it? After all, YOU are going to be at fault for not checking if the item is deficient. I went there for both of soft opening and grand opening. What I said to my husband is "I'm going to shop as much as I can while the customer service is still good, while there are enough staff to help me, which is only for like a week" and my husband laughed. I was right though! After a week or so, I went there to get a mixer. Price tags scattered everywhere, can't find matching barcode, nearest price check was broken, one by the toys is the machine itself was missing and I couldn't find anyone. Electronics had 1 guy with customers forming a line, said he won't call anyone for me because he's too busy. Finally found someone, she went to go get a staff from that department I need help in but she couldn't find anybody. It took about 40 minutes to get to this point by the way but I was able to find out the price and buy it. But I had to return it because it didn't come with all the pieces. They had no more stock of this so I had to give up. Good thing I checked it right after I bought it! Only a week ago, there was lots of staff, eager to help customers and asking us how we're doing, almost to the point of annoyance. But just as I thought, it was just for the opening. But not all of the staffs are like that. This black young lady in food sections, she was super friendly, nice and made me feel very welcomed. This middle aged lady in toy department was very helpful too and she seems to know what's around very well. I bet she's a department manager. Ah, I mustn't forget! It is a Walmart with a subpar selection on groceries. The prices change constantly on many food items. One day you go there the price is jacked up by 2 or 3$!! For the same item... This doesn't happen at superstore or any other grocery place. FINALLY! A Walmart Supercentre in our neck of the woods. This store offers everyday low prices, so we are no longer chasing sales at various other stores like we used to. Great selections of goods, huge grocery section and fully stocked shelves. The only drawback is not enough staff, hard to find when you need help. Other than that it is a welcome addition to the Royal City Mall. However we did speak to one store owner who said she had to close because of the new Walmart... but she had such high prices she couldn't compete. First of all you drive into the parkade and follow the two Walmart signs and then are left hanging... I still have no clue where the parking is for Walmart and forget about bringing the cart with you to your car cuz it locks as soon as you try and exit. Then I go looking for certain items which you neither carry or just have it all scattered so it takes a while to find. The space is just not big enough for a Walmart. I went in there several times and the prices are ridiculous... I thought the Walmart would take business away from the local stores but it's just cheaper going to the save on or buylow... I feel like the queensboro location has better deals and things are placed better there. I know this is a new store but fix your parking signs and it will give us a better start when entering your store. This is the we're sold out of every flyer special store all the time. Whoever they bought their escalators from should be also given one star as there is usually one or both not in service. Why have cashiers if you don't trust them to do just bought but don't want refunds. No send everybody to customer service where one person chats with other employees as the line grows and then works at a snails pace, of course I'm sure that's due to the huge wages they get. Spend half your shopping time looking for a floor worker only to be told they "don't know go to customer service". Putting self service kiosks at the wrong end of the store and close them most times of the day. Why would a grocery store on the west coast of Canada ship all their fish items from China!! went in last week with my husband. he shopped with me and went to check his blood pressure while i went to the check out. i didn't know everything he put in the cart. while paying for the items and packing them back in the cart, i packed a liquid soap container with my bags. i thought that it was one of my purchases as it was directly beside another bag. as i paid, i noticed the cashier (an older woman with short dark hair who usually works in one of the first two checkouts) exhibiting odd behaviour, pressing buttons behind her till, etc. and then a manager came up behind me. i stood there, checking my bill and noticed that the soap wasn't on my receipt and quickly understood that i was being setup to be charged with shoplifting. i asked politely if this item was on my receipt, and she rudely told me no, it wasn't and took the soap back from my hand roughly. she nodded at the manager who walked away. ok if anybody's going to steal something, it's not going to be a bottle of soap. clerks shouldn't have other miscellaneous items at the checkout. they should do their job and return those items to the service desk immediately. not every shopper shops by themself. i often shop with my teenage children who put many things in the cart i don't realize until i'm at the checkout. the clerk should say, i'm sorry, that was the last customer's purchase if a customer accidently puts something in their cart because they are kind enough to help said clerk do her job by putting bags back in the cart as she is busy. lesson to customers- don't put bags back in the cart - let the clerk do it so you can't fall into a similar circumstance. i deserve an apology. also, maybe employees in this walmart could speak english as that is one of our official languages and should be used in the workplace, not mandarin, tagalog, farsi, or any other language. read more
