They rang up $11.00. Sign said all polos were $11.00 originally $19.98. Who has time to scan each item before going to the register. Even when using the app its not always correct. Good clean bathroom. The Toms River Walmart bathroom exudes cleanliness and comfort, making it a pleasant experience for visitors. I ran out of toilet paper and a nice employee named Quanteesha came in and offered me toilet paper. The toilet paper was excellent, perfect 3 ply and felt so soft on my behind. I often stop by and buy menstruation pads and continue to the bathroom to continue my business. Thanks Walmart! read more

This Walmart really needs a facelift or a complete redo or an expansion. The store should be a Super Walmart since it serves Toms River & so many nearby cities. The food section is minuscule and not a full supermarket. They should have fresh fruits & vegetables, meats, full dairy and a bakery, a wider selection of dry goods and more of just about every department. They could be making bank here as the store has every demographic shopping here. The customer service counter is usually swamped. They should divide the counter into two lines: returns and other. The other like bill paying, money transactions, etc takes up so much time and there is always a wait for those returning or need to ask a question or get a price adjustment mistake fixed. The bathrooms surprisingly are ok. The store could be cleaner. The door checkout is what it is. The front door with the side entrances to the main doors needs a cleaner sleeker look. The employees don't look happy. They look exhausted and stressed. The parking lot is so busy. They need more handicap spaces for all the seniors that shop there. I could go on. This is an unusual Walmart. It feels very Kmartish. The entry is strange, the isles feel cramped, the parking lot is wierd too. For a super Walmart it feels small and uninviting. Their outdoor section was pathetic and I couldn't even find the camping section. I will say that their automotive dept seemed pretty decent. The store itself was clean, as was the restroom. Apr 15, 2022 WTF! In New Jersey, the in-store plastic bag ban starts on May 4. The Toms River Walmart on Route 37 has a large sign informing customers of the new law and a reminder to bring bags to pack up purchased items starting on that day. Today, upon checking out at this location, there wasn't any plastic bags at cashiers and customers were told they had to purchase bags today to pack up their purchased items. Despite having a large sign reminding at the front door reminding customers to bring and/or purchase bags starting on May 4. A lot of customers was not prepared for this and was forced into purchasing Walmart shopping bags. A nice surprise from Walmart Management on the Easter Weekend. read more

One of the worst experiences in a Walmart in my life. Me and my boyfriend had stopped in to pick up a few things and we both ended up with all together a $120 order. We decided to use the self checkout and did our transactions separately. Boyfriend decided to pay for the bags and as I was ringing up my own order we noticed an employee standing next to us staring us down the whole time to the point it made us both uncomfortable. We paid and as we were getting ready to leave the guy stopped us asking if we paid for the bags and that he didn't see it on our second transaction. Instead of asking to see the receipt like normal it felt extremely accusatory that he was watching our every single move. I don't know if it was because my boyfriend is puerto rican or what. Not to mention the store was an absolute mess and had a weird smell in some isles. We ended up calling customer service to complain got sent to a different person for them to hang up on us! No call back no assistance nothing. The worst absolute experience! NEVER GO HERE! Do yourself the favor and go to the one in Lanoka Harbor! From the moment my friends and I pulled into the parking lot we knew this was going to be a horrible experience. We got to this Walmart at 10:50pm, they close at 11pm. We all knew exactly what we needed so we would be in and out. One of my friends had finished grabbing what he needed and was already in self checkout. We walked up to self checkout at 10:56pm and the man working in that area put the aisle blocker out right in front of my friends and I and yelled "CLOSED. WE ARE CLOSED!" and would not allow us to purchase what we had. We had to shout to our friend already in the self checkout to purchase our items for us. As we handed the items to our friend, the man that informed us that the store in fact closes 4 minutes early, gave us a nasty look as if we just broke the law. There was no control over the self checkout area at all. There were big families just walking around waiting for their turn to checkout which does not make sense because they shouldn't have been allowed in self checkout because they were "closed". These families were also placing the items they planned on buying on our scale messing up our transaction because the weight was incorrect. Walmart is already not our first choice to go to and this just gave us another reason to go somewhere else. read more

Nobody walks into a Wal-Mart with many expectations, yet this one fails to meet the store's mediocre standards spectacularly. From the parking lot, to the shoppers, to the employees, to the shelves, you may find your skin crawling as you rush out. The parking lot consistently has solicitors and some folks hanging out in the front of the store, who really aren't hesitant to ask you if you know where to buy drugs. Though this isn't always the case, count on being at least asked to bum a cigarette. This may not be the store's fault, but it's the only major store in the area I see this in, for what it's worth. Many, but not all of the employees are rude and asleep at the wheel. For a supercenter, there is a better food selection than a non-supercenter. Also, for a supercenter, there is a very sparse food selection than any other supercenter. I've said supercenter too many times. The most poorly stocked shelves are definitely the food shelves. The rest of the store seems to stay stocked just enough to sustain business. The only big plus is there is a large self-checkout with 10 or more registers. Hold on though, this big plus is completely negated by the fact you'll be judged by curmudgeons standing guard in their aprons if you have anywhere near 20 items. Even if you know you have only 18 items, don't ask them to count to confirm, they turn into a brick wall and direct you toward a normal checkout lane like a broken record. This Wal-Mart is fine if you happen to be passing by and need to grab a quick 1 or 2 items. For anything else, Lanoka Harbor, Brick, and Manahawkin are worth the trip and fantastic options compared to this cesspool. read more

THIS IS NOT A SUPERCENTER!!!! Walmart is a necessary evil. Low prices but the entire shopping experience is pure Hell. The poorly designed parking lot is a headache that is exacerbated by clueless pedestrians and senior drivers. I won't give it only one star because there are some employees there who do actually work hard, bust their ass, and treat customers well. However, I have never, ever had a positive experience picking up a site-to-store order. Dozens of employees will walk in and out of the backroom and not one will help you. If you're lucky, one or two will call for someone else to help then give you an excuse why they themselves can't. The ladies restroom is filthy and most stalls have broken or missing locks. Walmart in Toms River was very kind to me. I do not look this abled but I had a severe stroke 6 to 7 years ago. With winter it gets excruciating in my back. A very nice staff member assisted me with two large cases of water to my vehicle. Thank God for that assistance! read more

Worst walmart ever! Total WHACOS! Was shopping with my wife and kids they had nothing on the shelves call them selves a super walmart and have no produce! Went to the changing room to try on some shorts had my wife get me some different sizes and they were all over the place like everyone their is a crook! Trying to steal clothes. Then go to check out my wife takes my daughter to the restroom while i check out with my son i start scanning everything they have no modern system for self check out so they have to physically watch every single transaction and swipe that you do whats the point of a self check out then. So the guy gets confused and tells me that i didnt swipe something so i tell him i did and he gets pissed and gives me attitude so i keep my cool he checks and find out im right and is all pissed then says what about then item in your hand. Yeah buddy you stoped me in the middle of me checking myself out of course their an item in my hand. He gets pissed stande over me and says well are you gonna scan it i wanted tonpunch this mother **** out and acting like this in front of my 19 year old son again keep my cool. Then wife and daughter come over to see if were ready to go my daughter has trouble walking for long periods and my wife had a scooter because she has MS and my daughter sat in the scooter while we were grabbing all the stuff then he comes again chest out wanting to murder us saying shes not old enough and cant be driving the scooter! Rude rude rude! Crystine was just rude, I was trying to return an item which was closed in plastic just the box was open within the 15 day return policy. They came up with their own rules not following the store policy. After the cashier explained the return policy, I asked to speak to a manager, one of the managers, Christine came to help, she didn't even bother to look at the receipt or the box . I went to another Walmart in Brick town, was able to return the item with no problem. read more

i could not believe the treatment i recieved today i went in knowing exactly what i needed and where it was , i figured to be in and out .i got what i needed fast and went to the cashier who made a mistake and charged me for three items from the pet dept when i only had two . 1 asked her to correct it and she said without an apology you have to go to customer service to correct my purchase.or just go and get another one . the 2 items were plastic plants for a fish tank and i told her i dont need another one and just brushed me off . i went to customer service where there was a long line ,i told the person in charge of the line i have groceries in me car that are going to melt i should not have to wait on that long line for a cashiers mistake . he said sorry thats the way it is . i asked to speak to a manager . he said ok and i watched him ,he didnt phone anyone or page anyone ,then told me no managers are available.i questioned him on how he tried to get one as he never tried.he said you just have to wait on line.needless to say some of the frozen products i purchased that were in the car melted and the ice cream had to be cleaned off the seats in my car . i am not one to complain but i deal with problems on my job being a service manager but would never let something like this happen as we live on customer satisifaction and strive to make a customer happy read more

One thing I really liked about Walmart is that it has a very flexible return policy. With a receipt, you can return unused items within 90 days of your purchase. Without a receipt, as long as the item has a tag or UPC number, you can return up to $50 in store credit, with a valid license, a max of 3 store visits (http://corporate.walmart.com/policies). My family member bought a lot things at Walmart, more than she could really afford. This is because she's elderly and has slow-acting dementia, which is hard to tell if it has worsened since it's so gradual. To help her out, twice in the past I returned $48 and $50 worth of items to my nearest Walmart, Walmart 1844, without a receipt but with my license, so receiving store credit (gift cards). Tonight I went again to make a final return of these items. The associate emptied out all at once the items I wanted to return from their bag, when it was my intention to hand them out one by one. Why? Walmart has a policy, that whatever you bring "as one" is what you have to return. So if I bring $55 worth of returns without receipts, I don't get $50 of store credit, but instead the associate has to get managerial approval, which can be denied. Other than that, he was very nice, he was patient with me and I thanked him. As I feared, my total was over $50, and then Kathleen, the manager, came. Kathleen had approved a previous returns. He explained my situation but she would not hear him or me. She was instantly upset with me, began to cancel the purchase. She defended her actions by saying she's already helped me twice, and that what I'm doing is wrong. I told her about my family member, which she rolled her eyes at and then repeated that what I was doing was wrong. I told her I could show her a bank statement to prove these purchases were made in a single day. She didn't even make we contact with me. Frustrated, I repeated "I have my license with me." and she said "I don't care, I'm not doing this again." Me: "Ma'am, it is your store policy, it says so online." Kathleen: "Sir, I don't care, it's at my discretion. You've done this too many times." Me: "Ma'am I've done it twice, the limit is three." Kathleen: "Take it to another Walmart." She cancelled the return and the initial associate began to place my items in a Walmart bag that he handed to me. read more

This store is just a total mess! Unless I'm desperate or they have something I can't fine somewhere else I won't shop here. I'll even spend a little more somewhere else. I much prefer Target over Walmart. The checkout lines here are always long and slow as frozen molasses. I've been to other Walmart stores up and down the east coast and this one is by far the worst I've experienced. I've also had issues ordering online and picking orders up at the store. No one seems to know whats going on at the pick up counter and there is never a manager around who is willing to help.
