Losing my cool at Walmart in Union City. Needed an oil change; got here in line at 920am.They never check me in for over 45 mins. Tell me it will be 45 more mins- fine. That's reasonable. Except it was a few more hours. Then I get my car back and they broke a part and argued how it was someone else's fault but they changed the oil last. Then I have to run around looking for a part at 3 stores. Cost me $50. Ladies and gents, it is 230pm and I'm still here with no reimbursement or finished car in sight. And to top it off, manager has been called 30 mins ago and still hasn't showed up yet. Nobody answered the phone either for over an hour of calling back from the part store to Walmart to see if I had the right thing. This is funny. I grew up with this Wal-Mart so reading all these ghetto comments made me realize how truly terrible this Wal-Mart is. However it gets the job done, 24 FREAKEN HOURS OPEN, and you get what you pay for. The products are always cheaper than their competitors but don't expect any type of customer service, cleanliness, etc. No matter how many workers they hire, the shelves are always empty/messy and there's always stuff on pallets waiting to be shelved. My car got in a hit and run here, yet I still park my car in the lot. LOL. I encounter so many odd, sometimes disturbing people at this place. Tip for girls: Don't go here by yourself at night, there's always weirdos lurking around in parking lot. Only come here if you're in dire need to save money! I came in on a Saturday morning to replace 2 of my tires. I arrived around 7am and didn't leave until 11am. I ended up paying $160 total for 2 tires, a warranty, and disposal fee. I'm mainly upset at how long it took their auto department to attend to my car. There was only one car before me and I wasn't serviced until 10am. By the time it was 8:30am, there were already 10 cars in line. If you need an auto service, COME EARLY AND BE PREPARED TO WAIT. I highly suggest coming right when they open and allowing a couple of hours of your day to wait. During my visit, I was able to circle around the store about 4 times and leave to grab food at a place nearby. Like any other Wal-mart location, you are given an abundant amount of affordable products. What puzzled me the most was how I was required to pay for my cosmetic items prior to leaving the cosmetic aisles. Other than that I felt like most of the workers were just there to work as opposed to the more helpful and welcoming employees you usually encounter at Target. Thumbs up for saving money, thumbs down for their service. I saved a couple of bucks so I couldn't complain. Overall I may return to this location as it's the closest one to me. read more

I cannot stand this freaking place. I shop here so infrequently even though they have good prices because I hate coming here. Even for the most simple return, the average wait time is 25-30 minutes. It's always a huge mess, noisy and the employees are just not very nice or helpful. Sometimes cost is not my driving force to shopping because it's not worth the hypertension. read more

Too bad we can't have negative stars. The automotive center is the worst there is. I will never let them work on my car again. We brought our car in for a standard oil change. We decided to be a little fancy and spring for the vacuum as well as they were suppose to check all the fluids. So starting from the beginning, it felt as if I was in a scene from "Meet The Patents". I was the only one there and they acted like they were backed up. Seeing how they were so eager to demonstrate customer service, it's not a wonder they did not vacuum the car due to a penny on the floor. Stating there was cash preventing them from doing so. THIS IS WHAT REALLY PISSED ME OFF! A couple of days after bringing my car in. My car started having issues while changing gears. After speaking with people I work with, they told me there may not be any transmission fluid. BONE DRY! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? That could have really messed up my transmission! I'm done! read more

We all know Walmarts are busy, crowded, lacking customer service, etc. and I would not have bothered to write a review for this because it's simply a given. This review is for the pet department. One morning while in the laundry detergent aisle I heard a gurgling sound. It wasn't a normal sound so I walked around the corner to investigate. It was coming from the tropical fish department. The water levels were so low that the filtration system wasn't working. The water quality was murky there were several dead fish in the tanks and the remaining fish were at the water's surface gulping for air. It was a horrible scene. (For you Yelpers questioning my tropical fish expertise: my dad raised tropical fish and I've been around them since my toddler days. Although he didn't "teach" me on how to take care of the fish I learned by watching him.) I'm not a person to complain about things but I grew up with fish, cats and dogs and this really dug under my skin. I walked around looking for someone in the pet department. There was no one to be found. Laundry deterrent department? Nope, no one there either. I finally found someone stocking and dusting the DVDs. I asked for help in the pet department: her answer was there's no one there. I asked to speak to a manager: her answer was that she didn't see them. I asked for a manager to be paged: she just kept dusting her DVDs. (If I had a mirror I'm sure my face was strawberry red by then.) I told her why I wanted help (fish water low, they are gasping for air)..you would think she would try to help me when I told her that but her reply was still "I don't see any of them around" as she continued to dust the shelves. I told her I wasn't leaving until I spoke to someone and she pointed me to the Customer Service department. With my heart racing with anger I waited in the CS line. I had time to think this one out. Should I be one of those irate customers yelling and screaming in line? Are they going to drag me out screaming and kicking? Are the going to call the cops on me? Okay, plan B. I asked the CS person for someone that could help me in the pet department. She pointed to a woman with the name tag as "department supervisor". I asked if she could follow me to the pet department because I needed help. As we were walking over there I asked her "are you guys busy here today?" She said, "not really." (Ugh!). I asked her is someone in the pet department every day - she said "yes". A few steps more and we reached the rows of fishtanks. Here we are, standing there in front of a gurgling filtration system, suffering and dead fish all around. I didn't need to say anything but I wanted it clear to her and said, "you have a problem. If there is someone in this department daily this is unacceptable. The filtration system is not working, the water quality is horrible. There is not enough to water for the fish to breathe...look they're all at the surface gasping for air! They are suffering." Stuttering she said she'd get on it right away and left to look for people to help. At that point I took pictures. Lots of them. Then I left. I couldn't take it anymore. My brain was on overload. When I got home (across the bay) I doubted myself. Who was she getting to "help"? Do they even know about water quality and not shocking the fish? We they just going to pour buckets of cold tap water in the system? Should have I stayed and helped? *sigh* I need to call Walmart Corp and show them the photos. I need to call whatever animal protection agency that monitors Union City. But Yelp is also a powerful tool. I AM HOPING THAT THE YELPERS THAT READ THIS POST AND SHOP AT WALMART OR ANY STORE THAT SELLS TROPICAL FISH OR PETS TO WALK BY THE DEPARTMENT AND DO AN INSPECTION AND IF IT DOESN'T LOOK RIGHT MAKE SURE A SUPERVISOR OR MANAGEMENT KNOWS ABOUT IT. I wrote a paper once for a sociology class regarding socioeconomic observations and class studies. Walking into this Walmart triggers flashbacks. Actually, the first challenge is to navigate the parking lot. Safely. Those arrows on the ground? Yeah those are for just decoration. Any nice cars (by nice, I mean power windows, uncracked windshields, and you're not driving around on a donut) are best parked in the side lot by the gardening section or the lot by the furniture store. Even then, you're never completely safe from the drivers that don't understand which way to go or how not to hit you. Hell, my sister almost maced someone. Though, if you're trigger happy and dying to try out your mace, I guess you'd be thrilled to be in a target rich environment. *them* Hey honey, wanna buy some CDs and gimme some love while you're at? *her* Hell no, how's about some mace in yo face instead!?! And then there's the store itself, where the employees insist on leaving pallets of stuff in the middle of the aisles rather than actually stocking the shelves. Where they feel the need to lock up makeup, obviously to keep them safe from the evil beauty supply syndicate. Where some parents feel it's a good idea to let their kids run rampant and play in-store sports. Where it's never safe to assume something is in stock, even if the webpage says it's there. Where you really should check the packaging to make sure you're not buying an empty box. Where the lines are ridiculously long, and everyone gets held up by people asking for price checks and then deciding not to by half the stuff because suddenly realize they can't afford the everyday low prices. This is the reality that is Union City Walmart. Unless you absolutely positively do not have another option, avoid at all costs. read more

Sometimes when I'm feeling frisky, I come to walmart with mother and pretend I'm on an African safari and say in an Australian accent, "watch as the natives buy family sized farty beans and extra hefty toilet paper." Had a horrible experience with Mina. I called to ask about an item to make sure it's in stock. I had gone to 2 prior Walmarts who online stated item was in stock. I didn't wanna waste my time anymore driving to a location 30 mins away. I was trying to get a hold of electronics and kept getting transferred to them. When I asked if they could just check for me if the item was either in stock or 2 get a hold of some in electronics to actually answer the phone she RUDELY refused and said all she could do is transfer the call after 4 unsuccessful transfers i asked to speak to a manager she one again refused to transfer me stating none were on the floor and she was going to disconnect the call. I understand it's understaffed everywhere that's why I was ok with being transferred multiple times but being rude is unacceptable. The parking is the worst ever, the workers either don't speak English (or their faking it) or they just don't know jack about their own merchandise, it's SUPER GHETTO, there's freaks and weirdos that lurk the parking lot selling CDs, DVDs and what ever else they can steal from walmart and they changed where everything was originally in the store. How the hell am I supposed to find the shampoo and $hit now?? This location is ONLY good for when you're in a hurry or the location is convenient. Complain about Wal-Mart all you want, but nobody seems to offer a review of this Wal-Mart compared to other Wal-Marts. So I here go: Compared to other Wal-Marts I have visited in CA and in the Midwest, this is by the far the absolute worst: It is crowded like no other Wal-Mart I have ever seen (and at all times, I have seen it crowded at midnight!), and they never have enough registers open to handle the sheer amount of customers, so you always have to wait in a long line. The customers are beyond rude and you are likely to get shoved and nudged several times as you try to buy the few items you entered the store to get. Let's not forget that Union City PD is almost always there because of peoples of 2 certain ethnicities that have a penchant for stealing. Now let's not leave out the workers. Most of them comprise two Asian ethnicities, and many have difficulties with English. Not only that, they don't know jack about their own store. The best time to go (if you must go to this one), is at 10am Sunday morning. A large majority of customers here are Mexicans of Catholic decent, making Sunday morning a great time to shop. After that it returns to hell. If you must shop at Wal-Mart, go to Fremont Wal-Mart, at the very least. read more

People who work here are slow, both mentally and physically. Lines for the Space Mountain in Disneyland moves a lot faster than the checkout lines here. In more than one occassion, I have left my filled shopping cart and just went home. I just love it when two cashiers yack and yack and take forever to find a barcode. I also like being asked, will you buy a bag for these items? I feel like saying, NO, I will stack them balance it on top of my head as I go to my car. As far as customers, too many morons. In all likelihood, the person in front of will pay for groups or individual items, separately. I can understand that if buying for someone, you may want to use a credit card, while the other paid with cash. But no, separate reciepts for items both paid with cash. Unless both of them intend to return the blouse they bought after wearing it. Even then, one person can do the return. If you only speak English and need of help, learn another language or have a translator ready because nobody there speaks English. read more

You can find everything at Wal-Mart for cheaper than usual prices! The greeters are friendly & the workers are fun to talk to at times. Everything is generally clean. I love the instant prints at the photo section. I usually come here for clothes & supplies. Sometimes, I come for the movies since some movies come with extras. Makeup section is fun to look at, but you won't know the prices until you pay at the counter. Whenever it's holiday season, they have fun items to sort through! Why did I come here on a Sunday? Probably the busiest time in the week. Finding a parking spot is stressful. I actually ordered online and was just coming to pick up my stuff. First mistake was coming on a Sunday. Second was going straight to the customer service and lining up not knowing the internet pickup was done at the back of the store near the toys section. Argh. This is BY FAR the WORST Walmart I have ever been to. First of all, understaffed is an understatement. The checkout lines are unlike any you have ever seen - they go all the way back into the clothing sections, and almost none of the registers are EVER open (even during the middle of the day). And for the registers that ARE open, there doesn't seem to be a single cashier that isn't slow, it's ridiculous. Second off, it's a filthy mess in there. The floors are dirty, it stinks a lot of the time, and the products are all messed up on the shelves OR in the middle of the aisles - it's like they stopped caring. This review isn't just from a couple of visits, either. This store is really close to where I just moved, so I've come here wayyy more times than I would have liked to, trying to see if maybe this place isn't as bad as it seemed. No, it's bad. read more

I just took my 13 year old autistic son to exchange a lego set at Walmart and they refused an exchange for him without a receipt. Told me to call customer service do I did. Then customer service didn't understand why they didn't take care of us. Manager Andrew said even when it comes down from customer service they not going to help us. A service manager at the store also thought it would be a good idea to start smarting off to Reece. Not acceptable then tried to lie about it thankfully customer service heard her. Really Walmart? You're against special needs children? All he wanted was the same lego set that worked and you refused to help him. Had him crying through the entire store. Way to go! This particular Wal-Mart is NEVER stocked. The cashiers are never friendly and always just check you out give you your total you pay them and your done. No smile, no nothing. Most of them do not speak very good English. If you need assistance with something; most of the employees on the floor do not know where anything is in the food section. In the Jewelry Department I waited almost 40 minutes for someone to respond to the page and still nobody showed up. Ended up leaving. The Eye Doctor is ok.. I found it here (no thanks to any of the employees). Like others have mentioned, it's 24 hours so that's nice. If I had to rate just the garden center...I couldn't because it is not possible to give negative stars on yelp. It's the worst Walmart garden center I've ever seen...excepting the one Walmart I've seen without a garden center. It's cramped and tiny, with a weak selection of plants, and you can't even maneuver your cart through the so-called isles. That CANNOT be up to fire code. read more

This WalMart is always a hit or miss. Contrary to popular belief its usually been a hit for me. Its changed quite a bit since its opened in the 90s but hey, what hasen't. I like it because its 24 hours, but beware if you come during late to middle of the night hours they are stocking shelves so it can be a bit messy. Its usually always crowded and there's no guarantee that you'll find an associate to help you. Its not so bad if you have time to spare. Walmart is accepting online order but the bad thing is they hired third party retailer in which when you purchase something to Walmart they will forward it to the third party. So, when you return it Walmart won't accept it and the third party will charge you a lot to ship it back to them. Ex: I bought Razor Electric Scooter and it to big for my son, we didn't use it or try it we only looked at it and shocked because it's huge. In the box it says do not return to store "Walmart " call third party VMInnovation, when I call they said yes we can do that but you have to pay $45 and drop it of to FedEx. Can you believed that now that holiday season kids are exited to their gifts... This is BIG NO NO for people who's shopping online. read more

Straight up ghetto. The place is dirty, broke down, in disarray, and the shoppers have no manners. I needed a hoodie, and it seems no walmart carries a woman's size small. Perhaps few of their customers wear that size. I ended up in the very messy boys section and got a xl boys hoodie. Also needed macaroni, head over to food, it's just gross over there, with dirty ripped up floors and merchandise strewn everywhere. At least the cashier was nice, but it didn't stop our frustration of waiting 30 minutes as 3 women cycled through, got thirsty, grabbed drinks, went back through and paid again. Then the dragon lady behind me cut in front of me and yelled at the cashier for allowing the people in front of us to behave the way they did. They need way more cashiers/more check stands open. The express lines help, but not when you have none open!
