Dr Beck's Second Opinion…read more.. Just last week, I took a friend to another doctor (not Dr Beck). He said her eyes have been changing every year since she has been seeing him back in the late 90's. But, there appeared to be a problem. She has said she can not see well even with the glasses prescribed just last year. Then after further questioning, she indicated she has not seen well for a long time. And she said that her prescription changes each year and requires new glasses. So I asked to see her past prescriptions. Each prescription was different. But not progressively worse as one would expect with progressive eye problems. For those of you with astigmatism, the Axis reading changed along with other readings which would show back and forth between her eyes getting better, then reversing to getting worse. Not what you would expect. Time for a second opinion! Came here to Dr Beck. Went today for the second opinion. She explained her vision as everyone does and then continued with the exam. He photographed the inside of her eyes, continued with all the normal tests, read her glasses to see the prescription as made by the manufacturer and then proceeded with her prescription exam. Here are the results. 1. Concern about the varied prior to present prescriptions. 2. Current prescription from 4 days ago is wrong. 3. Current glasses from a year ago do not match the prescription from when they were prescribed. 4. Bifocals were prescribed at the wrong strength. 5. The axis for the astigmatism was wrong resulting in blurred vision even with the glasses. While a lot of this sounds to be a responsibility of the patient, let me ask a simple question. If you put your trust in a doctor for twenty years, you would expect that doctor to provide you with the best possible care? Well. I believe that doctor has provided his best. Unfortunately, his "best" isn't good enough. Now the reason for this review. As we told the first doctors nurses the problem she was experiencing, they said that a lot of his patient complain about the same thing. After the exam, the changes did not relate to what she expressed. There appears to be a systemic problem here. Be willing to get a second opinion. My friend will now see better than she has in 20 years because she went to see Dr Beck for a Second Opinion. Thank you Dr Beck.

The glasses are fashionable with lots of options and everyone there is always friendly. During covid they're taking tons of precautions and that's coming from a person that is never ever impressed with a business's precautions.

I wouldn't take my dog here! I went here for an Illinois license exam in September of 2025. They…read morehad previously told me they had the state form for this. Got the exam and took the form they provided. The license branch wouldn't take the form because it was an outdated form. I contacted all about eyes and the manager told me she had just downloaded it from the states site(Lie). I went to the states site that day and it was not the old form. I sent them the correct form and the dr filled it out and they sent it to me in the mail. Fast forward to March 2026 and I get a letter from the state saying that the form was not dated within the 6 month period of my exam date. I got the exam two weeks prior to my license renewal. After checking it out, the form was dated from my previous exam in march of 2025. When I asked to get it corrected, they said they couldn't because if they did they would have to charge me for the additional exam. I told them I would be glad to pay if they would just put the correct exam date on the form. They had the doctor put a line with an arrow to the bottom of the page with a note that said re-tested in September of 2025. The state still wouldn't accept the form. I asked again and was denied! I talked to the area manager in Bloomington and they still refused to fix the form. Now I am facing the fact that I may lose my license because this company will not do the right thing! Their medical director said that I needed to have my eye health checked before they would consider changing the form. I informed them that I had seen a retinal specialist and a cornea specialist in the last few months and my eye health was good! Avoid this place at all costs!
