We diligently kept the windows and doors closed during our stay, but we woke up the next morning with at least 20 bites between the two of us. The buzzing in our ears woke us up too. Suffice to say, we did not stay the additional night and left early. I highly recommend the owners take steps to eliminate this problem. I cannot recommend this place to friends and co-workers.

The drive there was a bit grooling, due to a bike race. When we finally got there, we put the horse away in their stalls and found some port in the living room, Nice! The room was nice and clean, breakfast was wonderful, good coffee, Tom was most helpful in giving me safe trails to take my daughter, great wifi, and he had some wonderful guests! There are plenty of bedrooms for all your friends. To get to them you take the spiral staircase up or down. On the bottom floor there are a couple of bedrooms, a bathroom and the apartment. Then up to the main floor, the next floor up is two more bedrooms and a bathroom. The next floor up is the octagon room and has amazing views. While not a bedroom it is spectacular to sit in, and if in the mood to sleep on the couches and fall asleep with those views. Across the bridge is the spa deck and sitting in the spa under the trees is so relaxing Staying here is really amazing. The owner and his family are the nicest people but you probably won't see the since they want you to enjoy yourselves and the tranquility of the area. The long story is that I hired a friend to do the architectural design on my interior renovation which is a straight forward process except when doing work by permit in Berkeley. My friend decided that he didn't have time to deal with the endless revisions required by the city, and I soon discovered that architects don't take over projects that are so far along. I was in a horrible bind of having a project mid-construction incapable of moving forward. I got a reference for Laura, and she picked up her own phone, seemed super sympathetic and offered to take a look at the drawings to see what needed to be done. She then called me back and told me that if I used a different type of insulation, I wouldn't need these complicated drawings that the inspector required. Brilliantly simple, totally solved the issue in a pragmatic way after a 15 minute intervention. I would highly recommend her for anyone who is looking for someone who knows how to get things done; I talked to several architects who couldn't come up with this super simple way to proceed.
