I'll start my review by saying, Wow! Well run business! I had over 10 very large trees with a few rotted and VERY close to my house. I called and made an appointment for an estimate. The owner Michael was prompt respectful, friendly, and knowledgeable. I expressed my concern about the neighbors houses and the safety of his employees, equipment and possible accidents and/or mishaps that could occur during the process. Michael is equally concerned about safety and provided me the insurance and equipment maintenance documentation and safety protocols he uses throughout the job. Admittedly I did quite often check to make sure the crew were wearing protective gear. I saw them all wearing protective eye, ear, head, hand, foot, harnesses and body gear. He listened to what I wanted and gave some great feedback and ideas about how and what to do with the trees. He explained how the process would be done and possible obstacles (large wooden fence, decorative tree, stone wall, neighboring houses, etc.) He knew exactly how to work within the space provided. He was open to negotiation on price and payment plan. He gave me a written contract and was willing to make some changes and clarified some questions I had. His office staff, Kate and Thalita, are very responsive to emails and phone calls and are easy to work with. Their demeanor is always polite and will quickly get answers to your questions which makes me think Michael and his office staff have a well run communication system though out the day. Day one of "operation tree elimination" The crew arrived promptly at 7:00 am and worked the entire day until 5:30 pm. The majority of the tree work was done by the end of day one but being there were so many trees; it required 2 days of work which was mentioned in the contract. Day two again the crew arrived promptly 7:00 am. They worked diligently, cooperatively, and respectfully among each other. I did not hear any swearing, trash talking, or inappropriate joking. This crew worked very professionally. The owner Michael and the foreman on duty checked in with me often to make sure I was satisfied with the process. Things that surprised me: 1. The noise! I had no idea how loud the equipment was. It never occurred to me grinding tree branches and multiple chainsaws would be way beyond 180 decibels. Thankfully, I had notified my neighbors of the intended work and had no complaints. The work was always done by dinner time; thus not inconveniencing the neighbors family time. I may even send thank you notes and cupcakes to my neighbors for their patience during the 2 day event. 2. Tree stumps. I had no idea trees could be cut so closely to the ground. 3. Clean up. The crew raked, picked up and removed every single stick, branch and leave left over from the tree removal. I know I'm forgetting to mention some things here. The experience was exciting, informative, and fascinating. I will definitely use Walnut Tree Service again. I plan to have the stumps ground down next summer, and some pruning done on a very nice tree in another area of the yard. I would highly recommend using Walnut Tree Service. read more

It was a Saturday evening and we had a problem. Our cat had been missing for 13 days. In the night we heard a faint meow and cry from the distance. We went out with our flashlights and located our much loved cat at the very top of what seemed the tallest pine tree in town -- quite possibly 7 - 8 stories tall. We tried everything we could think of to get him to come down but he was frightened and stuck. Sadly we retired for the night, hearing our cat cry all night long. In the morning we tried again to no avail. Between Saturday night and Sunday we called every service we could think of, but no one would help. On our way to my daughters graduation my neighbor recommended Walnut Tree Service, she had heard the owner was really nice. I called and he immediately called me back. Within an hour he was at the tree coordinating with the owner of the house to have a look at the tree. I was at my daughters graduation; the owner of Walnut Tree service called to let me know that he was sending someone to get our cat down. I almost couldn't believe it. Who were these kind, understanding people?! I was overcome with emotion and so happy knowing that I would be able to reunite my daughter and her cat at the end of graduation. I started getting texts and photos from neighbors to let me know the rescue was underway and raving about how wonderful Walnut Tree Service was. Shortly thereafter, I received another call from the team member who was about to CLIMB THE TREE to rescue our cat. And then another call to say the rescue was complete and the cat was home. My daughter was overjoyed to find her cat safely at home, and then I received another call from Walnut Tree Service to ensure everything was okay. Words are not enough to thank the Owner and his team at Walnut Tree Service. They have earned my tree service business and I will forever be a loyal customer to them. We have had negative experiences with two previous tree service companies; failing to complete tree work as agreed to, substantial damage to grounds ignored and landscape littered with tree debris, soda cans and trash. It was a fortunate day when I phoned Walnut Tree Service for on on-site consultation and assessment. Representative, Paul, was pleasant, punctual, knowledgeable, and he addressed all our concerns. We signed the contract hoping that the third time would be the charm, and it was! Professionalism, efficiency, and courtesy begins with the consultation and extends through communication, scheduling, and confirmation with the pleasant office staff, and, importantly, to an outstanding, highly skilled crew headed by on-site manager Mark. Our property is hundreds of years old, and it is believed that the largest tree to be removed was also. Its' trunk was dual, it was adjacent to our stone lined well (primary water source), twelve feet from our home and its' diameter measured six feet. Crew and equipment arrived, and the work began with a walk-around to assess the job and locate crew members and equipment for safety and efficiency. Extraordinary care was taken, preemptively, to protect our property from damage, as they layered sheet after sheet of plywood to protect our driveway and lawn from heavy equipment. The skill, communication and team work ethic demonstrated by this crew was amazing. This was a difficult job, in a difficult location. We had a total of four trees removed and there was not a twig left on our lawn. And, any recessed lawn area from the heavy equipment were individually lifted with pitchforks by crew members! Lastly, the stump grinding began early the next morning. Once again, punctual, skilled, and efficient. Truthfully speaking, stump grinding does make a bit of a mess. We were both surprised and thankful to find he had taken time to rake the area, confining the debris in individual piles, making removal easy. Great service! I wanted to remove two large half-dead trees in my backyard and a couple small trees behind my garage. They responded promptly to my initial contact and Michael came out and gave me a very reasonable estimate, even offering suggestions to trim a couple other trees around the house and adding them on to the estimate for almost nothing. Throughout scheduling, Thalita was a pleasure to deal with. On the scheduled day, they showed up early and got straight to work. One of the trees hung way over a neighbor's yard, and they managed to cut all the branches and pull them into my yard, so as not to drop debris on the neighbor's yard. They worked quickly, were super courteous, and cleaned up thoroughly. When I asked, they sectioned up some trunk wood for me to split into firewood. The rest, they chipped and hauled away. I needed a large existing stump removed. It was stuck in the middle of my chainlink fence that I'm getting replaced, so the stump needed to be out. I also wanted the stumps of the two large trees that he was removing to be ground out. Both were butted up right next to the same fence. The stump removal guy, Paul, needed the chainlink fence removed from anywhere near the stumps before he'd start work (if the grinding wheel hit the fence, it would wrap up around it and bind the machine). I figured that this was beyond the responsibility of Michael and his crew, so I brought out my reciprocating saw, prepared to go to work, but he and his crew just pulled out some bolt-cutters and within a few minutes had cleared away as much fence as Paul needed. Half an hour later, the stumps were gone and Michael and his guys cleaned everything up and left. I had a great experience with these guys and would use them again. We had a couple of very large leaning trees that presented two complicated problems. One tree was over 120' away and the other was a cluster of 3-4 trees that had dominoed into each other. We spoke with several different tree companies about the project and got a wide range of pricing. Though they weren't the lowest price we had received, we chose Walnut based on the professionalism Viktor and Isis showed to us in their initial visits. The morning the work was scheduled for, Isis and crew arrived on-time with their impressive FLEET of new and matching vehicles and proceeded to inform me of his plan to complete the work and I understood exactly why the police detail was needed. His creative approach to the challenging logistics of the project would require our street to be utilized all day. They were contracted to remove 5 trees and he asked if he could pull any others that were in the way and we agreed. He chose a location to set the crane so he wasn't operating blind and could see the team the entire time. Watching them work was absolutely amazing. He laid down a 100' tall oak tree thru a 4' gate! And, at no point in the 5 hours did anyone stop moving. Rather than stand around, they blew all of the leaves, picked up debris. Once everything was finished, they left our property safer and cleaner than when they arrived. Truly phenomenal work. I am impressed by the professional and quality work done by Walnut Tree Service. When Vitor came by to give me an estimate, he arrived on time and provided the total cost for the job and an estimated date for the work to be done before he left - no waiting. The plan was to prune two large oak trees but after a storm, we decided to take one of the trees down. I called Kelly in the office about switching from pruning to removal. She was friendly and helpful, calmly discussing this change and answering all my questions. She let me know that the crew leader, Robson, would be able to provide an estimate and take it down all on the same day. Five minutes after the crew arrived, Robson gave me the new cost for taking down the tree and grinding the stump. The cost was reasonable and fair. I did not need to change or reschedule anything, they were able to be flexible and make this happen on the day of service. The work was done quickly and with great care. Robson and his bucket crew worked amazing well together, did a fantastic job, and completed all of this in less than two hours. It was a pleasure to watch the cooperative way in which the crew worked together. I felt completely confident in their work and appreciate the dedication they have to doing a quality job. EXCELLENT tree service with professional and extremely skilled team! The demand for tree service was at one of the busiest times since the storms in late October, but we were able to get an appointment for an estimate in November. Customer service was great and our phone calls were always answered by someone in the office. Friendly and polite describes the tree estimator who was direct and honest with his quote. On January 30th, the removal of 7 large oak trees behind our home was done with precision and speed. It was so exciting to see all the equipment and trucks arrive! They were on time and worked in temperatures that were in the teens with wind chills making it unbearable for us to stay outside to watch for more than 5 minutes. We watched from inside running from window to window in amazement of the big crane taking tree after tree over our house (and the tree technician flying overhead on the ball & cable) to the equipment waiting in front of our driveway to grind them up! Each team member had an unbelievable responsibility to make the job go smoothly and safely... we were so impressed with them from start to finish! We received 7 quotes from various tree companies that went as high as $10,000 to do this huge job, and Walnut Tree was the most reasonable and worth the wait. We highly recommend Walnut Tree! I can't say enough positive things about our experience with Walnut Tree Services. From their initial visit to give us a quote for the removal of 2 large trees and one small one, to the completion of the work, they impressed us with their knowledge, price, and execution of the job. Mike guaranteed he would not have to put a truck on our lawn to do the job, and he delivered on that promise. The office staff was courteous and responsive to any questions we had. They scheduled the job for a 3 pm start, but came 2 hours early, with a crew of about 8 people. They set up a large crane in our driveway, and were able to cut the trees at the base, then lift them with the crane onto the driveway. Once on the driveway, the crew cut them up and fed all the small stuff into a chipper, leaving the large logs to be removed with a different truck. They cleaned the yard and driveway, leaving them as if there had not been any activity there at all. The remaining stumps were cut extremely low to the ground, and all the saw dust was cleared. Every member of the crew was outfitted in proper safety gear, and worked amazingly well together. So much so, that they completed our job before they were actually scheduled to start it. I would heartily recommend Walnut Tree Service. They are well equipped operation and they did a great job removing four 60+ foot tall White pines and a large maple limb (more than 18 inches in diameter from a tree in my neighbors yard that was hanging over my property. They also topped off a clump of three white birch trees that needed to be brought back under control. They ground the stumps and cleaned up after they were done. The clean-up was well done. My yard was in better shape after they left than before they got there. Will and his crew are extremely skillful in their work with the crane and the removal of the trees. Watching the climber navigate the trees from a rope hanging from the Crane was like watching a skilled ballet dancer. The Crane operation was flawless as the lifted the trees over the house and the power lines to the grinding operation. I believe I got a great price (I had 3 quotes that were higher) and am more than satisfied with the job that they did. When Eversource came out to put insulators on the power lines, they asked who was doing the work. I told them and they said it as a "First Class Operation". I would strongly recommend that if you have to have trees removed to give them a call. read more

Fantastic customer service experience - I had a tree fall on my house this past winter from one of the Noreasters. I stumbled upon Walnut Tree Services online and they scheduled a visit with me. Michael from Walnut came by, with a very friendly attitude, he gave me a very competitive price on the tree removal and equally improtabtly he identified other suspect trees which I was considering removing anyway. Prices again we're very reasonable. Apart from prices, I wanted the suspect trees removed ASAP before the next Noreaster arrived (which was scheduled in a couple of days). He understood my concerns and scheduled me immediately for the next day. Even more impressive was his 8:30PM visit when I was concerned about the previously fallen tree to do more damage to my house. He came with reassurances and guidelines to mitigate risk before the tree was going to be removed (I had to wait for the insurance process before I could get the tree removed). I strongly recommend using Walnut Tree Service to anyway in MA who need pruning, tree removal or general advice on this subject. I would hire them again, hopefully only proactively. read more

I had been looking to removal several trees and cut back branches from 4 trees that were hanging over my yard from my neighbors for over 10yrs. I really couldn't find a company I trusted. I had had a tree removed that had fell on my property from neighbors property. The cost was almost as much as what Walnut Tree Co. charged me for 2 very lg tree's near power lines plus grind the stumps, then cut back a lg tree in the front and 3 in the back yard. They also cleaned up all the old tree branches that had fell before. The other company took 3 days on a tree that was already down and left a very big pile of chips that I had to pay to have removed because they never came back to finish job. Walnut Tree Co. Did all my work in one day without a bucket truck, they climbed each tree cutting each branch and trunk. They also cleaned up not only their mess but any mess I had around my house. I had Michael cut one very large tree last Summer, and they did an amazing job. Because of the terrible weather we've had lately, part of a tree fell close to my house so I called them to find out if he could cut this tree for me before the next storm. Michael told me that he would do his very best, and you know what? He did. About a day or two later he and his people came to cut the tree. They did this with all the snow that was on the ground making it a little bit of a pain to do this job. Once the snow was gone, I noticed that there was so debris from the tree that because of the snow was not visible the day they cut the tree so I contact the company and I was told that Michael will try to get to it the same week. Well, the next day his guys came and cleaned it up! I was very impressed and delighted, to say the least. Michael and his people are amazing. They do an excellent job. I have used Walnut Tree Services twice and was very pleased both times. The most recent job was in February 2021 and I had around 10 very large trees, some dead some alive, removed and a large amount of dead limbs and brush on the ground removed. It was a large job that required the large crane and a large crew. The work was done efficiently, safely and the clean up was incredible. There wasn't a branch or any sawdust left behind anywhere, even though they brought the large tree grinder and ground up all the trees here. They came when they were supposed to and the price was fair for the work that was done. I liked that the owner of the company was here for the job too, since I added more trees to the job once they were here and he was able to quote the price for the extra work then and there. I could not be happier with the job they did, how professionally they worked and the safety they used with the crane. The crew was also very nice. I needed land clearing to extend my yard and make room for a home addition and septic installation. It was a big job, about 40 very tall pines located close to my house with limited room to maneuver equipment around my house. I called all over and the job was either too small for traditional land clearing companies or too big for traditional tree removal companies. Everyone referred me to three companies, Walnut Tree Services being one of them. Vitor from Walnut tree came out for a free estimate the day I called! They were considerate of my project's overall budget and I was able to schedule the service within a week. The crane operator, Isis, was instrumental to me booking this job. He clearly communicated the agreed upon scope and lead his crew through a safe and successful job all in one day. He took the time to walk me through the site before they left. Our experience with Walnut Tree was nothing but top shelf from start to finish. They responded to my email quickly and were able to come to my home and provide an estimate in just under 24 hours. I initially had an extremely large limb on the ground and the remains of the tree it broke off of that I wanted removed, (and grind the stump). As I walked around with the estimator, we found another large tree that was rotting on the inside and two others nuisance trees that I wanted removed. I received a very fair price for all of the work. Two days later at 7:00 am as promised, they were at my home ready to work with the right equipment and a sizable crew. Within an hour the trees were gone and the yard and driveway cleaned. They came back later that day, as promised, to grind the stumps and rake the chips. The job was large to begin with which required the use of a crane due to the location and size of the trees that we were having removed. Three days before their arrival, during a big storm, a large tree that was not scheduled to be removed had fallen. By the time Isis arrived and we walked through the yard to go over the work being done, not only was the tree that had fallen being added to the original work order but there were many other trees that I decided to have removed as well. So, the size and scope of the job grew considerably, and they were able to accommodate me and have everything completed in the same day. Everyone was professional and most definitely knew what they were doing - everyone had a role. The team worked like a well-oiled machine it really was amazing. Gave a call to walnut for a quote after a referral from a friend. They were highly professional and courteous from our first contact. Like other reviewers, they should up within a week to give a quote which they provided within a few minutes of reviewing the property. They followed up a week later to schedule the work and showed up (and left) on time a week after that. I had one crew with 3 trucks show up at the house. Everything and a bit more was done exactly as we had discussed. (They found a few other nearby things that needed attention and I had missed in my discussion with estimator. They asked my permission before they started the work.) Their team of 5 was prompt, professional, friendly, worked well with each other, and were extremely hard working. I have had experience in last 4 years with 2 other very well known tree services on the South Shore of MA and Walnut Tree Services outpaces them on service, quality of work, and cost - by miles. read more

If you need tree work - go with these guys! I just had a large tree removed from my front yard, and my experience with Michael and Walnut was exceptional. Honestly I can't recommend them enough. Michael reached out to setup a free estimate appointment literally 2 minutes after I had submitted an inquiry. He showed up right on time the day of the inspection and walked me through the work I wanted done. On the day of tree removal, once again they were right on time and these guys do not mess around! They took out a very large tree in my front yard, grinded the stump, trimmed a ton of trees off the side of my house and took out another tree in the back. I can't believe how good everything looks, they did an amazing job. To top it off, their cleanup job is incredible - my front yard looked 10x better after they were done than it looked before they started!
