I haven't been to the Walt Whitman Mall in years. The poetry along the exterior always makes me smile. It's gone, the outside looks very different. There are quotes & photos of Whitman scattered throughout & a statue at the entrance.. The mall is clean, bright & inviting. They have a large selection of stores from American Eagle to Lush to the Apple Store. They also have many restaurants like Cheesecake Factory and Roccos Tacos. The bathrooms are clean and updated. Parking can be hard during busy times so just prepare for that. read more

With so many malls closing around the country somehow the shops at Walt Whitman mall seem to be doing well during the holiday season. Santa was taking pictures with people and while the parking lot was a traffic jam the weekend before Christmas, there are plenty of restaurants in and around the mall to relax and unwind when you need a break. Some of the larger anchor stores I think are still empty but the few that were left were well staffed and seemed to thrive. It's our local mall and although I'm not a fan of shopping, Walt Whitman does a fine job of keeping its building nicely decorated and clean. read more

Was here yesterday to work a mall event for my company. This mall is very high end; think Americana of Manhasset but as a mall. Some stores viewable from 110 are not accessible from inside the mall however. No food court, only the dining experience at a plethora of eateries offered up on premise or adjacent. This mall, named after a beloved poet son of Long Island screams money and wealth yet my 3 star rating is due to the smell of poo that eminates from the rest rooms down the corridor between Occitane and A&F. Unbearable. Yesterday the smell had me exit immediately. And first thing in the am, when mall wasn't open for business (just mall walkers) same smell. Either a sewer/plumbing issue or get some good strong air-fresheners. Not even Penn Stations toilets smell that bad. read more

This is a great Mall there's a lot of good stores but there are stores they need to put in like an H&M. it's very clean upscale and some really good independently owned restaurants. There's always security around to keep out the undesirables that cause problems. Many of the times that I've come here in the mall has been quite slow so during the week is definitely a better time to do your shopping. There's also tons of parking. read more

I was here recently for the first time in ages. It wasn't that crowded for a Sunday afternoon. While it's a clean, upscale mall there's not much that's too impressive about it. The people that work here seemed friendly though. The cookie place has great chocolate cookies, but I couldn't find even a Starbucks in the mall. The most disappointing thing was that there's a nice wine and burger place called Zinburger that unfortunately recently closed. There are a few other restaurant options like PF Chang's and California Pizza Kitchen. It's fine I guess if you like a fairly upscale, but small mall experience. Compared to some malls you'll find around the World and even right here in the U.S., the malls in Long Island and NYC tend to be disappointingly lame by comparison. read more

It use to be a Mall for everyone. They did a renovation around 2012.. Now it's basically a hit or miss. There's several high stores( Saks has survived through it all).. Bloomies, Lily Pulitzer, Tiffany's ,And a couple of others. There is a Macy's, Lord n Taylor( closed),Francine's, Apple, Free people, bed and body works, Victoria Secret,Build a bear,warby Parker( recently opened) Kiosks selling random items. A variety of restaurants, ( there are numerous, for all palates, within driving distance) Starbucks, CPK Simon owns and operates several malls. Their best creation is the " Roosevelt Field Mall".. This mall has numerous stores catering to all sorts of income levels, why they didn't follow this blue print is puzzling. Great mall to shop and sit and relax to eat after a lot of shopping! This is a high end mall (Think Manhasset but in one large mall space). There's no food court but they do have restaurants along the outside perimeter and places inside the mall to get ice cream, chocolate, pretzels, etc. They also have seating areas with couches, regular chairs, as well as back massaging chairs and at least 2 or 3 seated charging stations for your convenience! They sell gift cards (until 5PM weekdays downstairs in the main office, located down the hallway by L'Occitane, and then again til 5PM on the weekends right between L'Occitane and Build-A-Bear!). read more

this mall has become an unrecognizable shiny marble - riff raff -less mega dollar experience. I can't afford anything here, but I can dream. Mall cops on Segways and absolutely no fast food chains that would allow kids to dwell. Clean, well lit and regal, it is a pleasure to walk around the corridors or visit one of the great restaurants like Brio, Zin Burger or of course The Cheesecake Factory. Firstly, pretty hard to find a close place to park, the parking is pretty weird. Secondly, I came here to specifically get a scarf from Bloomingdales. Lucky for me, they had one left of the scarf I wanted. The actual inside of this mall is exceptionally clean and well lit. I really like how the center of the mall had Chinese lanterns in celebration of Chinese New Year. There is a good selection of stores in this mall however they are more on the expensive side. I really like how there is a Free People store which is more typically an online store. When I have more time I will definitely come to this mall for more in-depth shopping. read more

This mall just does it for me... I always leave with something...firstly, it is extremely practical in its set up unlike Roosevelt field which is a complete shit show or Broadway/south shore/ sunrise mall which are all disjointed flea market types... This mall is classy and meets just about everyone's needs from the best pick of dept stores.. Macy's, lord and Taylor, Saks and Bloomingdales I mean you are def walking out with something... Plus they just added this awesome strip of shops plus eateries like zinburger and brio Tuscan grille which are delish.. Or you can eat in Saks at cirellas or even the cellar in Bloomingdales which also has an awesome menu ... The possibilities are endless at this mall from food to shops... Also, tech stores such as apple, Sony and Microsoft decorate this mall... Anyway, bottom line is this place does not disappoint... You can spend your day shopping or run in for a quick top either way it's convenient and there is something for everyone! read more

While making the wedding circuit in random suburbs around the country I always end up at a mall...what else is there to do in the burbs? This time we had a purpose: my mother-in-law, sister-in-law, cousin-in-law (is that a word), and I were getting our hair done at the Saks salon to look purty for our other other cousin-in-laws wedding. From the outside this mall looked pretty crappy, which surprised me because the long islanders I know LOVE to shop. But phew...much nicer once inside! The big attractions seem to be Saks and Bloomies, but they also have a Club Monaco (I liked this one better than the one in Chicago for some reason) and an apple store, which was of course the most crowded store in the mall. Also Annette at the Saks Salon did a fabulous job blowdrying my hair and I don't let just anyone touch my hair (been going to the same hairdresser for a decade now). Someone even told me later on my hair looked like it was in a pantene commerical...a nice change from my usual "no more tangles" commercial look. Not sure how this compares to other malls in the area cause I haven't been, but a visit to Walk Whitman should take care of your chain/department store shopping needs. read more

This place used to be a mall...and now it is a mall with shops attached to the facade. A bit annoying because you will go into an outside shop (e.g. Pottery Barn) and find you cannot get into the mall. Usually I am not that picky, but when it is snowing/raining...it is not a fun guesing game. Good solid stores located here. And who doesn't love Cheesecake Factory and Panera bread? read more

This is a pretty kick ass mall for 2014. In 1989? It sucked nads. My wife is a Huntington girl and we dated in the 20th Century (It sounds messed up when you think of it) We'd come here to shop at Macy's, get hair product at McCrory's (A five and dime stores, what ever happened to them?) Olivia Newton John had a cute clothing store line here, they had a hair stylist cut my hair, this was my hang out area! When Rocky 4 came out, Rocky had this leather jacket with a fur collar. I'm in the mall with my brother and see a similar jacket. Oh snap, I'm getting it!! He says, get me one too. Ok, but I'm gonna charge it on AmEx, you have to give me the cash when the bill comes. No problem! (He didn't..) We even watched the Mall on fire one year?? This mall to me was always one note, it goes to from left to right. That's it. Its packed with great stores: Bloomingdales Lord & Tayor Macys Sony, Apple & Microsoft with an XBOX game center outside the store! There are upscale mall restaurants like Legal Sea Food and The Cheesecake Factory as well as Auntie Anne's. This is a nice mall, it will always be my 20's date mall hangout. read more

A smallish mall with some high end stores. I like this mall for two reasons: Bloomingdales and Godiva. I don't have to brave the maniacs at Roosevelt field mall to score some truffles. It is small and laid out in more or less a straight line- You can pretty much go from one end to another in a few minutes. Even at the holidays it does not seem that crowded - but it does seem to be more crowded than Broadway mall. Huge parking lots - a lot of ways in and out of the lots too. read more

For most of my life, I've been going to Roosevelt Field Mall. However, lately, my boyfriend and I have been frequently Walt Whitman. Although Roosevelt definitely has a better selection of stores, Walt Whitman has all my necessities (many department stores plus smaller boutiques). They also have more unique dining options and it's typically less crowded. It also recently underwent renovations so everything is clean and the layout is well done. read more

Just got back from Walt Whitman mall, It was great. I went to most of my favorite stores and looked around at the rest. Had not been there in several years. The outside of the mall is under construction getting a facelift, but does not seem to affect getting in or out of the mall. There was a good selection of stores overall. Walt Whitman is not as big and does not have as many stores as roosevelt field, but it is also not as crowded. I have been to ZARA to shop for clothing five times in the past three months. Every single time I was in the store I was on line at least 25 minutes because there were 40 to 50 people in front of me for the cashier in order to pay for the goods they were buying. This is so disrespectful of the customer and A totally ridiculous way to manage a store! read more

The Walt Whitman Mall has come a long way. It used to be just another LI mall full of basic stores where you would go if you needed a gift for the person who has everything. After a recent makeover, this mall has made a huge turnaround. The exterior is now full of various stores, as well as restaurants (including a burger & wine bar!). The inside is stunning and feels clean. A lot of higher-end stores have setup shop here now including Bebe, Kate Spade, Coach, and BCBG. The typical flagship stores are also still there (Bloomie's, Macy's, and Lord & Taylor). Overall, it's a lovely mall to visit if you want something a bit more high end. Just don't come here expecting a food court, there isn't one. But they do have quite a few restaurants (and Panera) to choose from. read more

The shops itself are very nice, however, we had just left a get together and I needed to go to one store and I figured I could get a quick bite to eat for my daughter. We looked at the directory and I couldn't believe that there was no where to get a quick bite. Everything was a sit down restaurant except Panera Bread. We decided to walk where the Panera was supposed to be and it wasn't there. Nice space but that one thing was annoying. read more

I really love the layout at Walt Whitman. I love that when you turn the corner it's very easy to turn back around and not question whether or not you went down that section of the mall or not. With that being said, they have recently done a mega upgrade to the mall and have added a myriad of high end stores that some people aren't so thrilled about. This mall has geared towards favoring the wealthy and I usually only come here for specific stores. They recently added a Bath and Body Works store, which is fantastic. Their Vera Bradley store is very big, they have Pandora, Banana Republic, Express, Forever 21, Sephora, Francescas, J. Crew, Anthropologie, Victoria's Secret, department stores include: Macy's, Saks and Bloomingdales. They have a large Apple store, many different specialty gift stores, jewelry stands, luggage stores, etc. They have a lot and there are a ton of great restaurants to eat at too. I come here often and parking can be difficult but I like that it's easy to park near the specific store you want to go into so you don't need to walk the entire mall to grab something or do a return. Overall the upgrades are really nice and while a lot of the additions as mentioned early are very expensive, they still have many stores with affordable clothes and gifts. read more

Major department stores--Bloomingdale's, Macy's, Lord & Taylor. Clean, modern, bright No food court--I view this as a plus because the mall isn't a "hang out." AKA: no weaving through teenagers while shopping. There are some upscale-ish restaurants: Brio Tuscan Grille Cheesecake Factory Del Frisco's Grille P.F. Chang's Zin Burger ...also a Starbucks and Panera Bread for a more casual bite Cons: All the stores are pared down--nowhere near the size of Roosevelt Field Mall stores so a much smaller selection of clothing/items in each store. Not enough parking spots on weekends. Weekdays are a bit more manageable. All in all, a great nearby shopping experience. read more

Not a fan of malls in general but thankful that we have this nice and local because you'll never catch me at someplace like roosevelt field. Higher end shops, not a huge hang out for kids which is nice, the stores don't carry as much as others I'm guessing because of the size of the mall.. but none the less a good shopping experience. I've been shopping at this mall for more than 10 years and they keep getting better stores every year.ive seen a lot of stores come and go in this mall but there's been a lot of good stores that have been popping up in the last few years like urban outfitters,adidas,lush,etc.They have stores for everyone here.people on a budget and people who want to spend a lot.For example they have saks fifth avenue,Bloomingdales,Abercrombie,Kate spade,Michael kors,lord & Taylor,Macy's and more.This mall has stuff for everyone.They now also have a little play area for kids in parts of the mall.They only thing that they don't have is a fast food restaurant.Dont get me wrong all their restaurant like zinburger,California pizza,the Cheesecake Factory,del frisco's grille,P.F. Changs,and Brio Tuscan Grille are all very nice but some people just want a faster option. Today was my first day at the Walt Whitman Shops. At first, I thought it was a strip mall but later realized it isn't. My first impression was how beautiful the grounds are. Parking at ease. Clean and tidy facility with newer looking architecture. When walking inside the mall, it is bright and lively, yet it isn't overly packed which made my shopping experience quite enjoyable. We were able to go to the stores we needed to go to with ease and in a timely manner. Now that I know of how convenient and pleasant this establishment is, I will definitely be back there to do some shopping! Plus, they have a Del Frisco's Grille and a few other restaurants if you end up working up an appetite. If you know me, you know I like to eat! If you need a good shopping mall and you are way out on the Island then definitely check out Walt Whitman mall. They have Macy's, Sak's, Lord and Taylor, Bloomingdale's and all of the usual suspects that an upscale mall has to offer. I prefer Roosevelt Field Mall, but if you are in the area definitely go to a mall named after an American poet for some reason. Speaking of the old poet, they have engraved quotation from his most famous poem "Leaves of Grass" on the exterior of the mall. read more

The mall is being nicely redone. Starbucks now have there own store and it looks really nice!! One of the new restaurants is PF Chang's. I would love to see a new Movie Theater there! read more
