If I could give 0 stars I would. I wish I started reading reviews on yelp before I went, but alas I was tricked by this practice. Waited over 45 minutes, was told I needed x-rays when I know I didn't but felt pressured to do so. I was also given a gimmicky tool to "strengthen my one weaker side". I got no work done, to actually ease any pain. Then, he tells me to come back next week after all of that and charges me $125 for the visit. (In addition to the expensive xrays I was pressured into.) I have a co-pay, and he refused me to pay my $25 claiming I needed to meet my deductible first. Now that is not how my insurance plan works, as he is in-network and I have a flat $25 co-pay for visits. Tried to make me feel stupid and told me I don't know what a deductible was. I was told that if I reached out to my insurance, and somehow someway he was wrong, he would "pay me back". Now I will be going through my insurance to report this up-charge and misuse of my insurance. When I told him I used my insurance a few weeks ago at a different chiropractor, and they charged me the $25 co-pay, he told me that they must not have been a real business- like what? Waltham Chiropractic is not a real business, and I will never be going back, except to get my $100 I'm owed. I will also be reporting this business, and sharing my review wherever I can. Oh man, where do I start! First off I have been going to a chiropractor since I was about 8 years old (21 years total) for preventative care, no issues but just went cause it made me feel instantly better when my back was cracked. I have had 3 professionals work on me over the years and felt good about it and that it made a difference before this office. The good: they are fairly professional, appointments until about 6pm, they figure out insurance stuff, used to have a cute receptionist (not sure if shes still there) free consultation, nice massage tables to loosen up before an adjustment. Closed on Thursdays for some reason. I starting going there since I had unexplained back pain, so crippling it would take me breath away if I moved wrong. They took me in quickly and took x-rays - had to take off a fair amount of clothes which was weird but whatever. The Chiropractor went over some details about my situation but they just didnt add up, very generic and kinda add-libbed. He drew a line next to my spine xray and said "look how crooked your spine is" when the line he drew was way off. I went along with it and signed up for service since I was so hurt. He said I had to come in 3 times a week - which was about $20 a visit after BCBS insurance.... alot of loot for a young prof. Seemed unnecessiary to me but again I was hurting. You go in for each visit and hang out on a massage machine to loosen up then wait for your turn to be worked on. The strange thing is that he has 2 adjustment tables in the middle of a big room where everyone is waiting. So when you are being worked on its in within 2 feet of 3-6 other people waiting for their turn. Very strange in my experience. Every other office I've been to has private rooms or at least out of sight areas to be worked on. The Chiropractor would often stand over other patients and look puzzled and not sure what to do next, almost like he was winging it! This office was big on using the activator - its a spring loaded handheld tool that "pops" and for lack of a better term pokes a spot quickly. He would use it all over your body, neck, butt, back of knees, etc. Seemed random to me but I guess there may have been some unknown logic. They application of it seemed so arbitrary and an ineffective way that I've never seen but I am not a traied chiropractor so what do I know. I had to ask for him to use the old school cracking method. I felt no different after a few months and stopped going after voiceing my doubts and seeing no change. Another real doctor I saw after said it was never a spine issue, I had a pulled mucle and he got me fixed in a few quick CHEAP visits. I am not questioning this offices methods or credentials but for me it was a HUGE waste of time and money with NO benefit. I really believed in chiropractors until I went here, and felt taken advantage of. Be careful, I liken this experence to taking you car to be fixed in a strange new town. I didnt have the knowledge to know what was really wrong so I feel they took advantage of me and insisted that I needed their services. I repediatly asked about any progress I was making and never seemed to get a real answer. Its like they were keeping me feeling broken just to keep me coming back. Well it seems like I might just be repeating what many people have said... but I want to give my experience as well. I purchased a massage through here on Living Social. All i thought I was going in for was a one hour massage. I will say, I believe in chiropractic care as a whole. I have been seeing one for five years, but since moving from Western MA to Boston, i have not found one I like. So I made an appointment and went in for my massage. I was greeted by the office girl, and given a thorough chiropractic questionnaire to fill out. asking me about my pains, etc. (and I thought I was just here for a massage!) The girl behind the desk gave me a 'tour' of the office (clearly seeming uncomfortable about it - probably because she does not agree with the 'hard sell' or has received complaints!) I then went and say with the Doctor (and one thing I will say, when I purchased the deal, I was told it was with Beneski Chiropractics, I dont know the relation between the two offices - but what a difference in atmosphere) He started 'selling ' me on chiropractic care, and what I had to do, etc, plus the benefits of vitamins and supplements (which he sold). I explained I have been receiving regular chiropractic care and was just here for the massage, but the door was shut, and he wanted to 'explain the benefits of his practice'. I sat through it, uncomfortable, behind the closed door, waiting for my massage. he then told me I was severly out of alignment, and needed to make appointments for care (the irony being, I had gone to my chiropracter the day before for adjustment!) When I finally was done with his sales pitch, I went back outside, and he said I could make an appointment for my next visit - um, WHY? I had not even had done what I was there for I then went in for my massage, and was surprised there was a second table and person in there. odd. and then was more surprised the massage was fully clothed. even odder. the massage therapist worked on my shoulders and neck (while having me lay on my back) for the full hour, and was done 1. I have never had a massage in the same room as someone else 2. I have never had a massage fully clothes 3. i went in for my legs (I am a cyclist). I told him what I needed, and he ignored me, instead going by the doctors recommendation based on my 'check up and evaluation' jeez. i couldnt get out of there fast enough. horrible service, hard sell, bad massage, and a waste of money even with a half price deal, not worth it! read more

OUTRAGEOUS EXPERIENCE! SAVE YOUR TIME, MONEY, AND PEACE OF MIND. NOT COVID SAFE IN THE OFFICE. I have been to many many chiropractors and this is without a doubt the most strange and most uncomfortable situation I have ever been it. You would think after so many bad reviews he may try to change his ways? No. Dr Duffy and his staff are manipulative and Dr Duffy uses abusive sales tactics to dramatize your injuries and get you locked into paying for long term treatment before he even lets you determine if his treatments are helpful for you. He asks you to pay money in addition to your co-pay. I am pretty sure this is illegal. No professional with integrity would ask that- especially after telling a patient that their insurance is taken by the office. Complete nonsense. Dr Duffy's business is clearly profit driven. I was pressured into taking x-rays that were not even necessary and see many other yelpers were pressured as well. He refused to give me copies to take to my real doctor. After three hours of waiting and back and forth conversation, I still did not even get a real chiropractic treatment. Dr Duffy prays on people who are in pain and ignorant to real chiropractic care. His marketing ploys are by the book. He is in it for the money. Just pitiful. When I left the office I had a panic attack driving home when I realized what Dr Duffy had been doing to me. This is nothing short of abuse. As if that were not bad enough, the center's website says that they take COVID practices seriously. They barely wear masks, and don't require their clients to, either. There is no social distancing set up and there is no ventilation or air purification. The office is always crowded with patients and it is unclear if they even sanitize surfaces between use. read more

This is the definition of a charlatan. I have been to chiropractors before because of my sciatica, but this time was infuriatingly sonsensical. I went during covid, because I was in some pretty serious pain, but "dr" Duffy expressed to me how he didn't believe in vaccines and instead, tried to sell me supplements. I should have recognized the clues, but I was in pain. He then did some sort of short evaluation, and then x-rays, which it seemed he didn't know how to operate. After the x-rays is where the seriously infuriating charlatan sell came from. He told me that I was experiencing sciatica because my right side was stronger than my left side. He then did some bullshit slight of hand garbage, where he pushed down on one of my legs with all his might and wasn't able to push it down, when he did the other side he was easily able to push it down. His prognosis was that I should do arm circles to trick my body into strengthening the other side. After 10 arm circles, he couldn't push down the side he could easily push down before doing 10 arm circles! Absolutely ridiculous that this moron is allowed to practice. I've seen in other reviews that he did the same bullshit. This charlatan gives every other chiropractors a bad name, as well as the entire industry which has to battle the ire of charlatans like this. read more

Waltham chiropractic has really helped me. I was experiencing chronic back pain for months on end and Dr Duffy has been great and helpful. I should've listened to other reviewers and not wasted my time, energy and money but this place is close by and they gave me an appointment instantly so I took my shot - only to regret later. All Dr. Duffy cares about is how to milk his patients to the fullest. I needed a chiropractor for a minor backache but somehow, was told that my condition is so grave that only visiting him 2, 3 times a week could save me. He was so agitated that I wouldn't commit for a long term program that he refused to treat me even for the day. This place is outrageous, and not in a good way. I'll preface my review by saying that I have seen three different chiropractors in my life, and I do have chronic pain issues. Because of this, I consider myself to be fairly well-educated on what is "typical" of a chiro visit. NOTHING about Waltham Chiro is typical. In fact, the place seems downright sketchy, for lack of a better word. First Visit: Took an hour and a half, partially becaue I had to watch some ridiculous movies about chiropractic care...clearly I already know the benefits of chiropractic...I'm SITTING IN THE OFFICE! Then, Dr. Duffy basically demanded I have Xrays taken, despite the fact that I had some from a previous Dr. that were fairly recent, and I hadn't had any type of accident or fall that would merit new xrays. Of course, he did not check first to see if my insurance would cover these unnecesary xrays, and the total was $90. In addition to all of this, in an hour and a half I DID NOT EVEN GET AN ADJUSTMENT! But....I was still charged my copay plus the cost of xrays. 2nd and Third Visits: Long wait both times...they don't seem to make actual appointments here...it's kind of a free-for-all. On the 2nd visit, he showed me my xrays, on which he had drawn the line that showed a "normal" spine, and then my absolutely horrific jagged and curved red line. It did NOT seem legitimate, and with every word he said he seemed to try to be convincing me just how much I would need him. When I told him I simply couldn't afford to come in 3-4 times a week, he got defensive and annoyed. However, at least he adjusted me on these days. Unfortunately, these adjustments did NOTHING for me. NO pain relief whatsoever. In fact, he commented that my body was difficult to crack, even though no prior doctor I have seen has had this issue. In fact, I typically crack A LOT! PLEASE do not go to this place---I have never felt more uncomfortable in a chiropractor's office in my life. I'm adding my voice to the chorus. Do not go to this chiropractor. His main interest is in getting more money out of you, and he doesn't hide it. He has raffles for patients who bring in new patients. After I finished my treatments that were covered by insurance, he had his sidekick give me a hard sell in a private office (yes, private office for selling, public marketplace for treatment - go figure). Anyway, every few minutes the chiro would pop his head in to see if I was biting. He talked more about how to bring in new patients than about his actual work! And he forgot what was wrong with me each time I came in even though I came in three times a week for two months. At the end of two months he said the exact same thing was wrong with me that he had originally written down even though it was wrong (I had a bad back but he kept saying it was my arm - never figured out where that came from.) And, yes, that silly popper instrument - never felt better afterwards. What was that all about? Switched to a PT who helped me out and taught me how to take care of myself. read more

My son is an athlete at a college in the area. He was experiencing some minor pain in his neck and took it upon himself to locate a chiropractor for treatments. He had the sense to be sure to ask if they accepted our health insurance and was told YES. What he was NOT told was that they were an 'out of network' provider with our insurance, which means, they have no contract with the insurance company to accept reduced payments on their fees for members, yet gladly accepted the $20 copay my son paid each time he went, which was 1-2 time per week, for about 3 months. I received the first bill when he was home for Christmas break, well after his treatment ended and was shocked when I realized that the treatments were all out of network. When I called the number on the bill (the only number provided) the Dr. himself picked up. He was apologetic that he was "in the middle of a treatment" and could I call back later to speak with the secretary, who would give me the billing office number. This happened to me 3 times. How utterly unprofessional of the provider to answer a call during a treatment -and- then tell the caller to call back! Do your patients a favor and put your billing office's phone number on the bill. Additionally, get your billing done in a reasonable time-frame. Had I received a bill earlier, I would have had the opportunity to tell my son to cancel all further appointments. As it was, the first bill wasn't even mailed until AFTER the treatment ended. Highly unprofessional is my major complaint. And, judging from the billing, I would say his fees are on the high side as well. read more

I gave Dr. Duffy a try a few years back and would not go back. I think the other reviews have it right. The problems with this place are twofold: 1) Too much selling. The first thing they had me do when I came here was watch a long video (that looked like it was from the 80s) about chiropractic care followed by a long conversation about setting a visit schedule...concluding with some x-rays. This would be fine if not for pt #2... 2) The treatment didn't seem particularly effective and I could never quite understand the relation between where he was treating me and what he claimed I had from the x-rays. I can appreciate that they're trying to run a business and win/keep clients but in the end the feel of the place turned me off and nothing in the treatment changed my mind. Went about 5 or 6 years ago and they did help but once they knew I had insurance to cover some of the cost, they suckered me into signing up for enough sessions to exhaust the coverage I had. I subsequently found another Chiropractor who also accepts my insurance, who will see me for one or two sessions AND has much better office hours. Don't bother going to these guys. read more

If you're more interested in having your "aura" read than having your spine adjusted, than this may be the place for you. Before speaking with the doctor during my first visit, I had to sit through a long, boring video made in the 80s that reviewed a bunch of generic info about chiropractics. Then I sat through a lecture by Dr. Duffy regarding the benefits of having regular chiropractic work done, which seemed sort of unnecessary: I was already in the office seeking treatment, right? I had just moved from out West, so I explained that my prior chiropractor wanted to send Dr. Duffy my Xrays and records so he could continue treatment. Why use existing Xrays though when you can charge to have more done in your office though? He never requested the records, or never really seemed to listen to what exactly my issues were. Instead he told me about some conference he went to recently where he learned to diagnose people by reading their "aura" and other such nonsense. Not a good sign... I think this is why so many chiropractors seem to get a bad rep in the healthcare industry. Please just adjust my spine! Against my better judgment I agreed to see the Dr. several times a week for "treatment." Perhaps the use of the adjuster gun thing actually does something, but all I know is that I never left the office feeling any better like I previously have after receiving a traditional adjustment. My symptoms, in fact, progressively got worse. There was no discussion of correcting my posture or work environment, no explanation of exercises I could do to strengthen my back, no helpful home remedies (heat, ice, stretching, etc), or anything of the sort. Just a few clicks of the adjuster gun each visit and a collection of the cash. After burning my money with this office for over a month, I finally bailed and found an awesome PT that zeroed in on my problems and got me fixed up in no time. The first reviewer said it all " Please just adjust my back ! " I felt the reading of " Auras" was sketchy, particularly as a female patient and having him wiggle his hand a foot in front of my pelvis. Ditto the lack of privacy in a communal examining and treatment room where I could see and hear the treatments on other patients. I was in the middle of a back spasm when I called his office, and they told me they "accepted" my insurance, which actually does not cover chiropractic therapy. And yeah, being recorded on his Ipod does not make me comfortable. He cracked my back twice and each time this was very painful. Also no explanation of exercises which could help, he advised Yoga, which I had figured out already. When he indicated the problem areas in my spine, that the vertibrae were twisted, they did not appear very twisted to me, I couldn't see the films that well. read more

Don't do it. This is one of the worst establishments in general that I have ever been to, but is especially the worst chiropractor I have ever been to. I believe wholeheartedly in chiropractic care, but I don't really believe in the reading of auras and the sales of "necessary" vitamins and supplements. Went there twice for evaluation and treatment 18 months ago or so. Complete quack. I had a severely herniated disk causing compression of the L4-L5 nerve roots. Did traditional chiropractor, physical therapy, massage therapy and nerve root injections as well. Finally Feb of this year, had the discectomy. Session was 50 min. And Dr was examining my back and asked me question the most of the time and we had conversation about "don't vacine you and your kids". He did exactly just 2 adjustments. When I made appointment, I asked how much is the session, and assistant told $60.00. At the end , Dr told $135.00 ($60.00 for adjustments he made, it was really 2 mins...and $75.00 for exam) it's rediculuos. I don't mind to pay much money for real chiropractic session, I didn't come to chiropractic for good conversation. I never heard that exam costs $75.00 when Dr is asking questions to understand your problem. Be aware !! read more

Doctor Duffy was hands down my worst experience with Chiropractic. I have seen two other chiropractors before and decided to give him a try because I was in pain and needed immediate help. Long story short, the office was full of people during my 5 pm appointment. Ended up sitting down with Duffy around 5:20 who only asked me very basic questions but was way more concerned with trying sell me his services. I am guessing this pointless "examination" will cost upwards of $75. Then he looks at my spine and mobility and tells me my right side is weaker than my left. This may have been even a little bit valuable if at my 2nd (final visit), he hadn't told me the exact opposite! He quickly realized his mistake once checking his notes so he apologized and changed back to his original statement. Complete joke. Then he told me I needed an x ray, which I am sure he tells all of his clients only to get quick money (guessing $150+ for x ray). He is always sure to remind you insurance will cover up to $500 of costs but never discloses the prices. To top it all off, about 15 minutes after sitting down with him he pushed me out the door after he refused to adjust me on my "first visit" even though I was in pain. Please do not waste your time here. Doctor Duffy is completely ridiculous, insincere, and puts his own interests above his patients. read more

If you do not have a strong personality, you will not be able to work with him. He has always been extremely pushy but I continued as a patient because he helped relieve my pain. His invoices frequently incorrect and he intentionally over bills the insurance companies (to quote him on a recent phone call when I asked about a bill that I received that included additional charges that never appeared before "what I charge the insurance companies is my business.") While I have referred several people to him over the years, I have moved to another chiropractor would would recommend that to other as well. read more
