These are the best wings in Hamburg. I'm a Bar-Bill guy, to me Bar-Bill is the gold standard, and I still hold to that. However, Wanakah Grill has some of the best wings in the Southtowns outside of Bar-Bill. Bartenders are awesome here. This is a neighborhood place, but you won't feel like an outsider. The Beef on Weck is also quite good, although they use Costanzo's rolls like almost everyone else. I prefer a hard roll style for Beef on Weck, but I know that Costanzo's are standard around here now. But back to the wings, there is not a huge selection of exotic sauces, but the standard Buffalo Hot, while not raging hot, is of very high quality and not as vinegar-forward as most, which I appreciate. Wings might be the most underrated around, breaded fish is amazing. Beer is cold, seems colder than other places around. Same 5 or 6 regulars at the bar who are all great to chat with. We stopped in for our first time. The wings were delicious , we ordered a dry rub and garlic parm crispy. They were hot and crispy, probably wouldn't order the garlic parm again due to a little lack of flavor. We also split a beef on weck with fries. My husband and I came here because we won a gift certificate. I swear that's how you find some of the best food! We were less than impressed when walking in... especially when we got there at 230pm and even though their Facebook and Yelp said they were open, they weren't open till 4pm. (COVID HOURS), so we had to come back later. There are mixtures of different chairs and tables, especially on the outside patio. It looked very disorganized. Then we asked for what beers they had on tap and they told us that they just redesigned the bar so they didn't have anything tapped. Then the waitress went through a long list of food items they didn't have. Including their BBQ ribs, which is one of only 5 entree dishes they offer. I decided on the soup because someone suggested the seafood chowder and they didn't have that either. So I panicked and ordered the Reuben because I happen to love them. The sandwiches come with fries as the side, but they let you change out to any of their other sides free of charge, I ordered the lazy perogi. A "side" took up the entire plate but it was amazing because the lazy perogi had huge mushroom chunks and I loved it! But let's talk about that Reuben... My, my, my.... The biggest, most incredible Reuben ever. So much meat, sauerkraut and cheese. I've never eaten a Reuben with cheese that strung from every bite. It was the very best and I will be eating this thing for the next 3 days. My husband ordered the brisket and it was so tender and delicious, we will definitely be back for the food here but maybe order take out. read more

Be prepared to wait an hour and 45 min for your food*** We came here around 6:15 on a Friday night. Not too busy and there were two other seated tables when we sat down. We got drinks and a menu about 10 min in. I felt really sorry for the waitress because she was the only one working the entire dining room. We ordered our food and waited. I mentioned the two other tables that were seated. They still had not received their food in the 30 min we were sitting. They finally got their food after being there for 45 minutes already. 20 minutes later our order came. The food itself was extremely good!! It's the wait that turned us off. If you don't mind the wait, I highly recommend this hidden gem. Don't come in if you're starving and need to eat right away. read more

Came in for dinner with my wife. It wasn't busy at all and the wait staff was very friendly. We ordered a few different beers that were on tap including a brewery from Westfield, NY that I had not yet had before. My wife had the French onion soup and it was good and well seasoned. Even the cup size was way larger than we expected and a good deal. My wife had the pulled pork and sweet potato fries and enjoyed them both. The pork was very tender and you could tell it was cooked excellent. I had their house made chicken fingers and they are amazing. My only criticism is that they had a little too much sauce on them as it was on the thinker side. Other than that the meal tasted amazing. This place seems to be a little hidden gem as there isn't normally a lot of traffic in the area. The prices seem fair and the outside area seems like it would be very nice durning the warmer months. read more

I've been coming here for a while now for their great food. Like other reviewers have said, this place is a hidden gem. Their made to order, homemade chicken fingers are by far the best around. Not sure why anyone would ever order frozen fingers after they've tried these. They're huge and come with hand cut fries, again, never frozen, always delicious. Found this place on Yelp, we were originally going to the Root Five restaurant but once we had HORRIBLE service there and them changing their menu that day we decided to leave, and not being familiar with the area, Yelp brought us here! We were the only ones here, grabbed a seat at the bar and were greeted by the owner who was also our bar tender. I took a walk around, it's very large and the backyard and patio is really nice. We ordered their house chicken finger BBQ finished on the pit. Wow! They were HUGE! They were served with blue cheese and French fries. We met our kids at Nichole's last night for dinner. Our bar tender/waitress was Erica, and she was more then pleasant and helpful. My husband and I wanted to try the Chicken Tenders which they are known for. They were hand dipped in a delicious batter, and deep fried to perfection. I have the mixed veggies on the side instead of French Fries. Everyone else had the fries. We found that Wednesday night, was a great night to go there. They get very busy on the weekends. I recently purchased a home very close to Nichole's. On the day of closing I decided to bring my family to eat dinner. We had a large party of 4 adults and 2 teens and 4 children. We were greeted warmly as soon as we entered the bar area and were brought back where several staff worked quickly to set up a table for us. Most of us ordered the fish fry. The children ordered chicken fingers and macaroni and cheese. My 5 year old niece said it was the best macaroni and cheese and she ate it all, usually she is a very picky eater. Fish fries on Friday nights in Buffalo are as iconic as the wings invented at the Anchor bar. After coming to the area for years and having chosen some decent places to enjoy the Friday fish fry the family took us out to Nichole's. The first thing you have to get over is the feeling you're being taken out to get whacked. Over the tracks, out in the oulying areas you really get a sense you might not be coming back. Then you pull up to what is clearly a recently renovated building and discover what is probably the best fish fry I've ever had in nearly 13 years of fish fries. Checking in on FourSquare flagged Nichole's as a dive, and as a Dive kind of guy, I would say that post renovation it's much more accurately a joint. It has the very local feel and friendly staff that means you'll get great service with a smile. So brave the trip and enjoy the experience. It's worth it. read more

Yes it is a bit out of the way, but definitely worth the drive. We arrived late on a Saturday night (9:30) and ordered up some chowder and a couple burgers. There was a good crowd in the bar but we were the only ones in the dining room. The soup was hot and delicious, but the burgers were fantastic!! At least 8oz and charbroiled. Served on a fresh Costanzo's roll with seasoned waffle fries. We were made to feel welcome by the gent behind the bar and he gave us attentive service. We can't wait to go back.
