We decided to pick up some takeout from JP's while we were in the area. We ordered fried chicken, potatoes, coleslaw, and macaroni salad. I wasn't fond of the coleslaw, but the fried chicken was good. The batter wasn't too heavy, it peeled off nicely, the crust wasn't overcooked, and the chicken was cooked through. What a great place. The fried chicken was amazing. Definitely will order it again on my next visit. Service was good. Totally a Cheers type of place. Seemed that everyone knew each other at the bar. I heard the bartenders talking, one had been there over 40 yrs and the other was 30 something years. That goes to show you that they have great owners and love their jobs. First time in this restaurant. Very friendly, comfortable atmosphere. Alot of regulars at the bar. Waitress was great and very sociable. Menu was surprisingly large with several attractive options. Settled on personal pizza pepperoni and cherry hots with suicide wings, so I have lunch for tomorrow. The wife had the fish sandwich. Large piece of fish and lots to garnish it with and fries. We love JPs pub. I'm obsessed with their chicken finger subs (I recommend hot BBQ with mayo) and french fries. All of their appetizers we've had have been great. Service is always great even when the bar is packed. Not the "nicest" place, definitely pub vibes, but if that's what you are looking for this is the place. read more

I ended up birthday here because my boyfriend kept saying how good the burgers were here. I had been here years ago and didn't remember what the food was like, but appreciated the bar atmosphere. I love a good burger and after a day of sightseeing in Jamestown, I was ready for some delicious grub. They have a popcorn machine, and the popcorn was great. It is self-serve. I ordered the BBQ burger without cheese on a gluten free roll. Yes, they have gluten free rolls. I'm not sure who the supplier is, but it was a great roll. I highly recommend it. Also, they have gluten free pasta, according to the menu. My burger had bacon and BBQ sauce on it. It was delicious and I ate the entire thing. The entree comes with fries, which were good, and a pickle, olives and peppercini on the side. I liked that touch with the extras on the side of the plate. My boyfriend ordered the muenster burger and he enjoyed it. We were there on a Sunday and it was a very eclectic mix in there, which was nice. There were older people, a guy with his two sons, linemen, ladies, and a couple who were making out at the bar, or she was rather making out with him and he was maybe into her advanced, but also, not that much because they were still at the bar an hour after her trying to make out with him. It was a weird situation, but also couldn't stop looking at the progress being made, much like a train wreck. read more

Terrible experience. I visited on a Friday night around 7 pm with a party of 2 adults and 3 kids. The tables were full when we arrived, but cleared out fairly quickly with few arriving after us. We ordered a few dinners, just chicken finger subs and a fish fry. It took an hour for our food to arrive. Our server was preoccupied sitting down at another guest table. One of the chicken finger subs was supposed to be medium. It tasted absolutely nothing like medium sauce but what I'm guessing is their sweet chili glaze. Regardless, it was incredibly unappetizing. Will not be back with such poor service, unnecessarily long wait times, and order inaccuracy. read more

This has become one of mine and my brother/sister-in-laws go-to favorites for a good meal. Nothing fancy, but a good and welcoming atmosphere. Never had a bad meal here. Staff is friendly and helpful. Things I've had that I recommend: - Apps: mozz sticks, pizza logs, stuff banana pepper dip, Skippy sticks -Meals: - AWESOME fish fry - Burgers: swiss, munster, in the grass - the rueben and beef on weck are some of the best i've had in buffalo - BLT (one of my faves to order anywhere, and just as good here) It's a one room dining room/bar with a banquet hall that they will open up sometimes if its packed in the dining room. We've gone to JP's so many times I can't believe I haven't left a review yet. This is one of our favorite local places to get a bite. It has a large menu, generous portions and solid food offerings. We've had the wings, chicken Parmesan sub, fish fry's, pasta marinara & meatballs, beef on weck, bugers, Reuben and opened faced beef my way, to name a few and all were delicious. I'd love to give them 5 stars but while the service is generally solid it is a tad inconsistent. Nothing that has prevented us from coming back just that we've learned to come early and be prepared. If their busy the food can take awhile longer so you can't count on making a movie etc. And if it's not to busy some servers tend to chat with the regulars a lot to others diners detriment. We've certainly had 5 star service but it's about 50/50. Their beers and cocktails are great and they pour a perfect Guinness. Their iced tea is consistently terrible, I can't figure that one out. While the food can be a bit slow (probably because of the difficulty finding kitchen staff nowadays) it is always consistent. So I'm torn, I wish 4.5 stars was possible but it isn't. read more

Came for a private event luncheon on a Saturday and was pleasantly surprised. Very delicious buffet, nice private dining room, very clean, clean bathrooms, attentive staff with friendly disposition. Food was well executed! Fried chicken was crispy and juicy, penni pasta with sauce and cheese, was tasty, roast beef in aujus was tender with fresh fresh kimelweck rolls!!, roasted potatoes seasoned and cooked through, crisp lettuce salad mix with choice of three dressings and homemade toasted croutons . JP's Pub has a classic neighborhood corner bar familiarity and comfort with reasonable prices and some really fantastic food. Of course the menu has the classic fish fry, wings, and other pub staples, but it's more than a couple of steps up from the usual frozen fare dropped in a fryer and slathered in Frank's Red Hot mixed with a surprising large amount of butter and some mystery spices that everyone knows is pepper, garlic powder and a couple of red pepper flakes. The Chef does a great job of keeping the menu fresh and interesting. One of our sons raves about the onion rings and the perfect ratio of crunch to onion and has proclaimed them the best ever. The Guinness Stew, when you can get it, is absolutely amazing. So is the Corned Beef and cabbage. The bartenders and waitstaff are always very prompt and courteous even on the busiest of days. Frankly, they really hustle and yet, when they arrive to take your order you would barely notice by their relaxed table-side demeanor. They aren't pushing you to order and happily answer questions about the menu. Three words. Banana. Pepper. Dip. It's addictive. Tastes a little cheesy... blue cheese? Swiss cheese? I dunno. Who cares! It is served with pita bread and I could eat it the rest of my life. Spicy! I has a Mediterranean burger- it was good. The burger was super juicy. Way better than some of the popular burger joints in the area. Give the place a try. Don't waste your time or money here. Ordered a fish fry and told it would take 40 minutes. Showed up after 45 minutes and stood outside for 10 minutes. Got inside paid for the order and told they would look to see if it was ready. Waited in the waiting area for another 35 minutes. During this time inquired twice if my order was ready. The cook yelled out that he already asked the kitchen 1,000 if the order for Dave was ready. When it finally showed up the cook yelled at me"Here's your order." Called the following day to complain to the manager and he told me he didn't care and asked me if I was done complaining. JPs must have too much business to treat customers like this. It was very busy which ok fine. But no one knew what the other one was doing. Waitresses buzzing around frantic. It took them 15 minutes to clean a dirty table so we could sit down. After finally being seated, my husband had to flag down the waitress and tell her that we had been sitting there for 20 minutes and that we were very close to leaving. I played a concert here a couple of years ago - I don't play for $$, I play for free. I was a customer of the bar that night. It was awhile back, and I've been meaning to go back ever since because it was a nice place with a good atmosphere. This pub way down in Lake View, in the middle of nowhere, has a tricky potholey parking lot and is right next to some railroad tracks. Brent and I had a very hard time finding it when we came to play a concert here. It didn't go down very well, but the locals were friendly enough, the food was good, the drinks were excellent, and we both agreed that we'd definitely go back here if we were ever way down south in Lake View... which we rarely are, in fact I think I've only driven past it twice since that fateful night, and neither time did I have time to stop. But if you do have time to stop, it's well worth your time. read more

Cole slaw and potato salad tasted on the verge of souring. "Always fresh" little neck clams were a little suspect. They tasted horribly pungent & fishy. Good fresh little necks should be sweet and tender. Stopped after two. Not sure what was going on there. Broiled scallops were cooked to perfection; however, they are served dry with cocktail sauce on the side, which is better suited for breaded scallops. A local pub in the heart of Lake View. We've been here a few times and the food has always been delicious. The selections are vast so there's something for everyone. I've had the chicken finger pizza and this time I got the mac and cheese. The dining room is pretty small and can get really loud, but there's something charming about the small town pub atmosphere. Second time stopping in. Foods great. Huge menu, like 8 pages. Appetizers, Subs, sandwiches, dinners, pizza, burgers, wings, and salads. Dining room is a little cramped with the (noisy) bar along the outside edge, but definitely a solid dinner choice if you're in the area. Just ordered food from here, ordered a calzone that was the same size as a fricking baby spoon. When I called to order, I asked the guy first how big they were and and if they will feed two adults since they are $11. He said oh yea it will feed two adults. YEA right!! It's so small one person will still be hungry after. Also ordered wings too and they were soggy and slimy. Very disappointed because a calzone a single order wings and a 2 liter was $30. On a date in the recent past we ordered a steak and cheese pizza. The pizza we received was not what we ordered. We called to try an rectify the situation. We were told by a polite female on the phone they would give us a credit and it would be under our phone number for the next time we ordered. Today we attempted to use that credit. After being passed around to numerous people and told they "do not do credits", they said they would talk to the owner and call me back. They called back and explained they did not have any record of this credit and said they do not issue credits so basically this did not happen. I was very polite and explained my position but they still refused. Nevertheless, I will not do business with them anymore. read more

Stopped in here with my extended family on Sunday for lunch, all in all everything went smooth and everyone was happy with their food. Now it's basically just Pub food, but it is done well. We had a bunch of the battered vegetables and fried clams for appetizers. For food I had one of their burgers with bleu cheese. It was big juicy and delicious. My wife had the reuben which was quite hefty she was happy with it and enjoyed the other half for lunch the next day. They got a decent kids menu consisting of hot dogs, chicken fingers, pizza.... and all come with fries. Two of my brothers split their Cuban and a pulled pork sandwich and they both enjoyed each of those two. The atmosphere is neighborhood pub and they had the hockey game playing on a two good size TV screens. A decent beer selection included Hamburg Brewing Irish Red, and a Southern Tier IPA, so nice to see some local beer on tap too. If I was in the area looking for pub food, I would definitely stop back here. read more

Family friendly, we took our 10yo and 4yo and they gave them coloring pages and crayons. Establishment also includes a bar. Staff is always friendly. I found this place on a random drive with my best friend. Let's just say I was pleasantly surprised! My favorite thing here is the Blair pepper dip! It is so good I can just eat that all day. Their fried chicken was great too especially if they give you their chili dipping sauce. The prices aren't bad at all and the alcohol is cheaper than most areas as well. The taste is a par with other fish fries. I especially loved the crisp french fries and lots of them. But the fish itself was smaller than other places. And the cold slaw had no taste. I took only one bite and left it. For $17.24 I would not rate it highly. Just good but not great. read more
