I had an accident late at night last week, involving a ridiculously large volume of water winding up on and in my laptop. I let my machine sit turned over and ventilated until the next day, when I was amazed to find that it still worked. Until it didn't: I couldn't get it to boot up anymore, and the battery wouldn't charge. I called WangPC in the evening, and Martin came by in no time at all to pick up my laptop. The following morning, he let me know my data was safe (just barely) but that the motherboard had been ruined. He told me what needed to be done and gave me a price estimate. I just cannot help thinking how awesome Martin, as well as his service, are!!! His WangPC is not only the best in Boston, but actually the best that I have ever seen! I do not know too much about computers but have a strange habit of keeping buying new notebooks -- so I end up with many half/non-functional ones piling up in my apt... until the time came when I found WangPC and talked to Martin over the phone... He is super knowledgeable and professional and has given me many good suggestions on how to optimize the usage of my giant collections of notebooks. He is super patient and most importantly, he is NOT pushy at all. So you feel very comfortable discussing all possibilities with him and get the best out of it. I recently contacted Wang PC Computer Service to connect my printer wirelessly to my laptop as I couldn't get it to work following the set-up instructions. Upon calling I spoke with Martin who scheduled an appointment within 24 hours (on a Saturday and through quite a bit of snow, no less)! Martin showed up as promised and was able to get the set-up completed in relatively short order. There was one brief hitch as the wireless connection stopped working after he left for some reason (no fault of his), so I dialed him back and he said he or one of his staff would come back the next day to verify and repair the connection once again, if necessary. As promised, Martin came back again the next day and took care of everything, at no additional charge. I am now able to print wirelessly. He also set up a USB driver/connection to print using a USB cable in the event of any future issues with the wireless connection, which is awesome to have as a backup. I will absolutely use WangPC Computer Service for any services/fixes in the future, and would highly recommend them to anyone in need. Wang's pricing was about half of the other two services I researched, and both of those would have taken about a week to schedule the appointment. Someone give Martin a medal for incredible service, pricing and speedy repairs. My laptop wouldn't charge because my charger was starting to break (I had to angle my charger a certain way for my computer to charge). After trying out one of those universal computer chargers at Best Buy, it turned out that the new charger showed the same symptoms and the problem was with the charging port of my laptop. The problem worsened to the point where there was no charger that could charge my computer because the port became useless. I went to several places that did repairs to see if somebody could fix my computer. The stores weren't willing to fix my computer because the port was soldered onto the motherboard, and MicroCenter couldn't fix it unless I ordered the parts (the parts and service charge would have cost me a fortune). Caught a nasty virus on my laptop one day, spent hours running virus cleaning software, tried restoring system from previous point, basically everything short of rebuilding and nothing seemed to work. Called Martin early, like 8am, the next morning and he took my computer in immediately. Did a complete clean, software update, installed top of the line anti-virus protection while keeping all of my settings, programs, and files exactly the way I had left them. Fixed it in 24 hrs and gave me great discounted price. What really gave him the full 5 star rating was the fact that 2 days later I was still having a few issues with my web browsers and wasn't sure if it was due to my computer of just my web connection. Called up Martin and with no questions asked took my computer back that very afternoon to re-assess it again and even dropped it off at my apartment a few hours later to test it out using my internet. I know enough about computers to know when I see the BSOD (blue screen of death) or the words "No OS Found" -- I'm out of my league. Like 99% of humans under 60, my computer is my life. I run a small non-profit from it, have thousands of photos, etc. and of course when I "swear" my backup software is working, it actually, is not. Lovely. Enter Martin. I found Martin on google maps as I was leaving Microcenter disgruntled (they wanted $100 just to wipe the computer and reinstall the OS, come on guys!). "The Best Computer Service in Greater Boston" . He is right when he says it. I spilled some water on my MacBook Air last week due to which my laptop screen was not turning up even when the laptop was working. After letting it dry out with no luck for 3 days as every online DIY blog says, I went to Apple's Genius Bar: They quoted a price of 50% the cost of my 2.5 years old MacBook Air to fix it. I later went to Microcenter & Computer loft each quoted a price higher than the previous one. With a dejected heart, thinking of buying a new MacBook altogether but crying inside for being on a student budget I thought to try one more time. After a Yelp search I came across Wang PC. This was a life-saver for me. I flew into Boston Saturday night for a work meeting on Monday only to find my Toshiba ThinkPad wouldn't start, despite all the troubleshooting I did. WangPC was the only computer repair business open on Sundays and, with great reviews online, I decided to call him to see what he could do. He was very courteous over the phone, asked me to bring my computer to his home office in the morning, and then offered to drop off the repaired computer by the evening. I dropped the computer off around 9 AM on Sunday at his house. I was able to spend Sunday seeing the city, and by 6:30 PM on Sunday he was at my hotel with the computer. He had to wipe out a lot of my software (like dropbox, stata, etc) but was able to save all of my files and important documents, and the computer ran beautifully! Last month, after a year of resistance, my son's Dell laptop finally succumbed to Murphy's law -- it fell down badly. I brought it to the Cambridge Micro Center for repair. I like their store and thought their repair service would be just as good. With a "we are doing you a big favor" attitude, the person at the front desk gave me a price and a time frame. Not only was it expensive, but it would have taken seven days to order parts. I refused. After a quick search I found that WangPC Computer Service was not far away and had good reviews. I went there. Night and day difference from Micro Center. Friendly welcome! "Don't blame your son! This laptop is poorly designed. That's why a fall causes so much damage. People bring this laptop to us with similar damage at least three times a week. We even carry the parts in stock". They quoted me half of Micro Center's price and they fixed the laptop in a day. These guys are amazing. My 5yo laptop refused to load after boot up, and I spent a week researching fixes and attempting command prompts on my own before I gave up and figured I needed to have someone recover my data and get a new computer. I brought it in at noon today, and now it's 2:30 and my computer is fixed, plus they installed new antivirus software and updated everything else. I was thinking I'd be lucky to just be able to get my files back sometime next week, and instead my old clunker is running like new today. I live in Somerville, but this was totally worth the journey to Brookline Village--especially because the turnaround was so fast that I only had to make one trip. Martin is the 3rd PC repair person I have used in the last few years and BY FAR the best. He diagnosed the problem, told me what I would need in the way of parts and quoted me a repair price. It was very reasonable and I told him to proceed. He called about a week later to say that he had good news and bad news for me. I asked for the bad news first, and he explained that there was also a problem with a chip on the mother board which had been overheating due to vent blockage. My heart sank. He then asked if I wanted the good news. When I said I could use some he told me he would still charge only the original quoted price despite the additional labor and parts! He also cleaned up the motherboard and updated some software. You can't bet that for honesty & integrity! My very good laptop was very slow over 2 years ago. I went to 2 other places but improvement was minimal. Then I found Martin. He cleaned up for me 2 years ago and gave me a senior discount. I told him I am a retired mechanical engineer and an AARP member. The turn around was 1 day, quick enough. But if you have time, give Martin some time to complete. I visited WangPC in Brookline because my PC was experiencing crashes. Martin quickly gave me a diagnosis; the power supply and motherboard experienced damage from overheating. He gave me a quote and told me that my computer should be ready for pickup in less than a day. When I arrived at the store in Brookline the next day, Martin informed me that further testing revealed that the GPU had also experienced heat damage and needed to be replaced. Martin replaced the GPU (an expensive piece of hardware) and told me that he would honor the original quote that he gave me. Martin told me that once he makes the call to quote the customer on the price of the repair, he will always honor that price. He obviously treats his customers well. I flew into town for an interview, and needed my computer for a presentation of my work. I was refining that presentation on my flight when some water spilled onto my laptop. The motherboard was shot, and my work was only stored locally. I landed at 8pm, got to the Apple Store just as they were closing, frantically bought a new computer and went online to see if I could find someone to help me recover my work. Excellent service! Being the clutz that I am, I knocked my hp spectre x360 laptop as I was reaching for something else on the desk. The laptop fell on the ground, causing the framework around the power button to dent. The power button was stuck. I was pretty worried especially I had a flight the next day out of Boston, and hardly any repair shops were open on a Sunday. We had a hard-to-diagnose problem with an Apple desktop and Martin came right over as soon as he took my call, even though it was already 6:00 p.m. The problem was ultimately not feasible to correct, as it would involve a mother-board change and Martin loaned us another Apple desktop computer that he set with all our stuff so we wouldn't have to go without our computer while he figured all of this out. My PC could not start up a couple of days ago. But I had a very important presentation and I didn't backup my PPT. I brought my computer to Microcenter. They told me it was something wrong with hardware and it would cost $ 80 only for diagnosis, more than $200 to fix and could take at least 4 days. I was so depressed. Luckily I found Martin.
