Mango and watermelon bubble tea slush with boba
    Anita B.

I love Wang's bubble tea and consider it to be the best in Ottawa. They were my first ever bubble tea experience, so that might play into it a bit. Their mango slush bubble tea with boba is my favourite to order whenever I go. My friend got the watermelon version and also liked it quite a bit. Their prices are very reasonable considering they are located right in the Byward. They have lots of different flavour options as well as boba and jelly. I haven't tried any of their food yet, but I always see lots of people enjoying different yummy-looking dishes. It seems popular among both locals and tourists. Check out this place for bubble tea if you haven't already!

Chicken leg on rice with spring roll. $17.70 including any bubble tea!

Don't let the look of the place deceive you. Delicious food, generous portions. Asian comfort food. Mr. Wang was doing everything by himself: taking orders, cooking, making drinks. His prices for the Byward Market tourist area are SUPER inexpensive; so much so that I feel bad for him. $17.70 to get a giant dinner platter and any bubble tea drink with any add-ins! We got the chicken leg on rice and fried pork cutlet on dry noodles (could have had soup noodles instead but the weather was too hot). Came with egg roll or spring roll and veggies. Do him a favor and give him a generous tip for good food at great prices. Wish we had time and stomach room to have tried the Taiwanese popcorn chicken and fried calamari. Looked good.

Definitely a hole in the wall. But good place to go if you're looking for something non-descript, cheap and tasty, this is the place! When you first go in, it looks like an old diner (or a cafeteria) and you have to seat yourself and order and pay. After your food is finished, you go up to the counter to get the food. I ordered the wonton soup with noodles and my friend ordered the hot and sour soup. Both of us paid around $11 for our meals. Not really any service there so don't expect anything too much. The wonton soup was okay, not amazing. It had about 5 pork wontons (they tasted home made which was awesome) and they had udon noodles. The only thing that made me a bit disappointed was that the veggies they had were from a frozen veggie bag. My friend's hot and sour soup was pretty good, it had a very nice kick to it! Might go back there again to try the popcorn chicken but wouldn't go back for the wonton noodle soup. The people who worked there were pretty nice so no issues with service.

    Wang's lovely sign.

My wife and I stopped in here for a snack while down in the market. Disclaimer, she is ethic Chinese and immigrated here to Canada in her 20's. She appreciates good Chinese food so when I suggested I give this place one star, she said "I don't mind." To be fair we only tried a couple of dishes and we only ate there once. We had popcorn chicken and a plate of dumplings. The dumplings were over cooked, soggy and tasted like grocery store frozen dumplings. Not that there aren't good ones, but these were not. Ottawa has better much options for good fresh dumplings. The popcorn chicken was just over loaded with salt and almost unbearable. They also took a rather long time to prepare a small order. The location is nice, especially in the summer, but we're not motivation enough to try again. Sorry Wang, we won't be back.

Sure, come on by for the bubble tea but stay for the food too! Don't be fooled by the rustic/simple setup at Wang's, he makes amazing food. Any of the noodle/soup entrees are delicious. I would particularly recommend the Taiwanese style popcorn chicken, it is amazing!

Pork combo with dry noodles and egg roll

What a cute little place! They really don't try to shortchange you when it came to the amount of bubble tea. It was filled PAST the brim & you don't see that very often. Flavor was not bad at all & the boba was a little on the softer side. The pork was very crispy and noodles & vegetables were very tasty with this amazing sauce poured over it. Very limited space to sit in the restaurant.

    Delicious bubble tea!

Comfort Taiwanese food; fair prices, large portions, and freshly made! I was surprised by the quality of their bubble tea; try the red bean milk tea slush. Now that my sweet tea is in the market though, I would probably go there. Cozy little spot, usually filled with international students. Good to grab a bite to eat while browsing through the market!

Why is my egg roll burnt?!! Oh well, at least the soup is good!!

Mediocre food and a boring menu. Not good value for the price. Good for a super lazy Chinese meal, if you're craving.

Even though we came mid-afternoon, the restaurant was still packed and we had to wait for a table, but it ended up being completely worth it. We ordered the traditional noodles and the braised beef noodle in both Joye and Two Xi styles so we could try the different noodle types. The broth tasted just as amazing as it smelled, rich, comforting, and super warming. The noodles were perfectly chewy. I basically inhaled my bowl. The only thing that wasn't super memorable was the meat, but honestly the noodles and broth were the stars anyway. It is a little on the pricier side, but the portions are huge and incredibly filling. Definitely a spot I'd come back to when I'm craving a comforting bowl of noodles.

The noods were definitely hand-pulled since across the tables, there's an open kitchen area where you can see chefs making them fresh! The thickness of the noods we got were three xi (not too thin but also not too thick!). The noodles itself were pretty good- not overly chewy but not too soft either. Has that good well balanced texture. But usually the best part of any noodles is its broth. The broth was definitely not bad by any means, in fact it was pretty good- but was it memorable? Idk.. this is a good place to try a few times but this wouldn't be my go-to nood spot in Ottawa. Also bear in kind that the portions for these bowls are fixed and it's pretty big! We were a group of 4 and 2 was WAY more than enough for us- we couldn't finish it.

We ordered the beef rendang , the mixed satay , the five star chicken , the Bali beef , the chili jumbo shrimp , the spring roll , platters of traditional rice , couple of fish dishes. We did not order any noodle dishes although reviews say theyare good Quickly to the pros and cons Pros 1. The tassste : of course my fav was jumbo chili shirmp , with a sweet tangy taste and spice tastes amazing with the rice ; if you are ordering it take it with the white rice and not traditional . The traditional is basmati fried and white is boiled rice Shortly behind that comes beef Bali sautéed with onions . The whole corianders fried wit this dish just hit the right notes and the onions were sweet enough , the sauce was great , the beef rendang was a little too spicy for 3 stars and I won't say that the five star chicken is a must fry , but it's dilute sauce so it goes pretty well with rice 2. The consistency / all dishes were consistently great The not so special ones are as follows imho The five star chicken , the snicker pie and the shaved ice dessert 3. The service : quick and lot of knowledge will be shared if you ask the right questions , they don't push sell , the lady who served was very gracious and kind 4. Complimentary shrimpy fryums 4. Parking : ample space around the building . Prices are a tad higher than other places but the portion sizes are generous to match, especially the meat. I had the #47 Hủ tiếu thập Cẩm -- aka Chicken broth rice noodle soup with everything: Satay Shrimp, Shrimp Cake, BBQ Pork, Tofu, and Ground Pork. I love the fried shrimp cakes so I often order this kind of soup when it's available. It was perfect and I can't wait to go back! My greedy eyes always want to order the Large but this Medium was perfect and the most soup I could possible fit into my belly. Service and ambiance are both good. Booths are a little cramped so your feet will interfere, and there are some mildly obnoxious flashing festive light strings. But it's easy to overlook those hiccups because the food is spot on. I can also recommend the rice dishes from previous visits!
