Amazing place! I just discovered this gem from a recommendation of a friend. The waiter was the best ever, the food, amazing! the restaurant- really nice with a huge attention to detail. The food was super fresh and perfectly prepared. Both my friend and I had food allergies, so we're not the easiest to feed. The waiter was more than kind about it. He was really happy to accommodate, and I had an amazing meal that I didn't get any reaction to. It was an amazing experience all around. The best restaurant experience I've had in years. The food was good but got sick afterwards. We also arrived at 8pm and got our food at 8:40pm and then server told us at 8:58pm that they would close the dinning area so we would need to leave. Was excited to hear that Wanida was opening up a third location and even better, it's the closest one to my house. Walkable for lots of folks in the area and driving in and out of the lot was easy (there is a dedicated turn lane coming from the north). The parking lot was nearly full at 5:00 on a Friday. Walking in, the ambiance is fantastic. Bright and colorful, delightful smells hit your nose immediately upon entry, with funky and comfy chairs at the bar and throughout the indoor dining area, which is more than double the size of the DuPont spot. Literally of the staff were friendly and pleasant. I waited at the bar for my take out order and they have a full bar with a dedicated bartender and a large flat screen tv with a basketball game on while I was there. This was the first day of their online ordering system and I think I was the first to try it. Well, it didn't work. But the manager (owner? I'm not sure) was very apologetic and put the rush on my order. I'm sure it was just a glitch that they will figure out (the guy was on the phone with their online system right away). I didn't mind waiting at the bar and soaking in the ambiance. While I waited, several staff checking in on me and the hostess brought me a water unprompted, which I appreciated. A few minutes later, the lady behind the bar offered me a shot of a Thai Basil (whiskey, lime, basil), which was fantastic. My food arrived a minute later (all in all, I only had to wait about 15 minutes for it). The food. Fantastic as ever. I had read that they brought in a five star chef direct from Thailand. Well, it shows. The presentation on the dishes coming out of the kitchen was fantastic. My wife and I agreed that it was even tastier than the Dupot spot (our typical go-to for Thai in town). A few twists to our usual dishes (the fried rice has edamame beans, for example), but all for the better. Wanida has never gotten my order wrong and we go regularly. Having a location that is within walking distance from home is even better. Highly recommend and I can't wait to go back. I'm very content right now. Tonight was opening night at the new Northwest Ave location. If this was a sign of things to come, I'm not sure how it could get better . They seemed short-staffed for the dinner hour, but once we placed our order, it was prepared quickly and served with with grace and a smile. We had fried gyoza (delicious), the regular Pad Thai with chicken (yummy) and the Sweet and Sour Stir Fry with fried tofu (really good). My 12yo got a Wanida gift certificate for Christmas and was excited for the new place to open that we see everyday on the way to school. Maybe I should have known to ask but we all assumed a Wanida gift certificate would be able to be used at a Wanida restaurant. She ordered her Pad Thai for take out and when we went to pick it up she handed them the gift certificate. They handed her the food but then told her they couldn't accept the gift certificate and she could only use it at the Wanida on Dupont. Bummer. My kid says her food was good. read more

I love the other Wanida Thai Restaurant thought this would be the same but the sauces had no flavor compared to the other place quality of the meat in stirfry was so tough I couldn't cut it even with a knife and too chewy. Nice atmosphere and friendly help. I'll just continue to go to the original location. read more

We've eaten here many times, but this last time really ruined it for us. Three of us ordered two star chicken Pad Thai, and my grandma got the same pad ke mao she's been having for years. Five of our meals came out at about the same time, but mine came out over 15 minutes after the rest. My pad Thai was COATED in spice. I took one bite and my group said I turned red. I had to down five glasses of water and my mouth was still burning. One of the other pad thais have absolutely zero spice. We asked the waitress to have my pad thai re-made (which I never do) since it was inedible. She brought it back out, and it was probably a strong two stars, but my mouth still hurt too much to eat it, so I switched with my sister who had zero spice in hers, but I was too full of water at that point to eat much anyway. The 3rd pad thai was half way between my sister's and my second one. My grandma noticed that her meal was very different than it usually is, with less vegetables and much less flavor. They took $2 off an over a hundred dollar bill for the inconvenience of my spice almost burning my mouth. It wasn't the waitresses fault the food was bad, but when we asked what happened, she (Lizzette) was polite, but over all acted like we didn't know what we were talking about, and that our tastebuds probably changed since we last ate there, and that there was no problem with the differences in spice level since "they measure the spice out with spoons". This is not to say nothing was good, the curry and gyoza did turn out well. Over all, we've been long time patrons of this restaurant, but after this really disappointing meal, and lack of the staff listening to us, we're unsure if we'll return, which we're disappointed about since we did love the restaurant in the past. read more

The food was so good and extremely fresh and nicely presented. We had two amazing servers who were very attentive. Two of us couples were discussing that we were going to be celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary and the next thing we knew they brought us out a special drink and a dessert and acknowledged our anniversary. Combo rice wasn't on the menu which is a major reason I went there. If yoir a larger person which I am, don't sit in booth as table was pushed against me , there tables with chairs were better . My husband and I are big fans of the original Wanida on Dupont St and were definitely rooting for this upscale version's success. We were not disappointed. The tod mun (shrimp cakes) came in donut form, and were generously portioned (as befits the $16 price tag). I had the beef red curry and my husband had the Pad Thai, and both exceeded the original Wanida in quality and portioning. We were assiduously well attended to by our server, who made sure to check in at intervals. More generally, it was a comfortable and and inviting space in which to sit! Definitely an upgrade from its predecessor. The only criticism I would levy was that the starter and mains were served almost simultaneously, and we had to ask for small plates, without which it would have been nearly impossible to eat either the appetizer or my main. (Once alerted, the staff brought them over nearly immediately.) Why five stars, then? Because as far as Thai food in Bellingham gets, there is no better, and it compares favorably with restaurants in much larger and more cosmopolitan cities. We're definitely coming back! read more
