Wanida is a great Thai spot! My family and I have gone here numerous times for different celebrations and just in general. We like to order the beef panang curry, amazing fried rice, Pad Thai, and pad see ew. The spice levels are also great (we love spicy). The restaurant has cute decor and the seating is comfortable. One time when I went for my brothers birthday it was pretty slow (there were only a couple other tables there) and they were so kind and attentive. We enjoy the food and menu options here. We do have to order gluten free and the first experience we had ordering seemed very reassuring that what we ordered was gluten free via telephone call. The second time we ordered we ordered via DoorDash and it does not give you the option to add a note about gluten free but there is a no wheat sign on the menu so we thought it was safe to order this item from the menu without further discussion. Turns out you still have to say that you want the item gluten free and you cannot assume it is gluten free. When confirming the order was gluten free this created confusion with the staff and question whether there is a true gluten free option at this location. read more

Pad Thai for DW and Tom Ka for me. The real winner today was the beef in the pad Thai. I may just order the meat next time I go back. And the Thai was delicious already so we really recommend the pad Thai beef. The Tom Ka Kai was good, it was really good. It was a little sweet for me as they put so much coconut cream into the dish. Although this place does not taste necessarily better than some of the top Thai restaurants in Seattle or Vancouver, it is the best that Bellingham has to offer. There is parking around the establishment and a decent amount of tables for indoor seating. The food prices are $15-$19 for most items and they all taste above average, but nothing with a wow factor. I usually order their Red Curry or Pad Thai. Unfortunately, I do find the noodle dishes to be a bit too oily for my taste. I am pretty sure this place used to be a lot better than it is currently. It was fantastic a few years ago, and I knew it was one of the busiest takeout restaurants in the area, so I figured it was still high quality to have so many people coming back. I love the online ordering/text confirmation system. That is SO easy. And the logistics of picking it up are great. But when we got home, we found that the $2 rice (yes, you have to pay for rice) to go with the red curry and the spicy eggplant were not in the bag. I never understand charging for rice, and no it doesn't break the bank, but it was disappointing. The pad key mow, my go-to, was bland. There weren't a lot of veggies, there was not a lot of sauce on the noodles, and yes, I got 3 stars for spice, but it's like there was nothing on it. It was just a bunch of very lightly seasoned slimy noodles. The red curry was okay, but mostly liquid with not a lot of substance, and again, no rice. The spicy eggplant was probably the best thing we ordered, but it tasted not all the way cooked. At least there was a decent amount of pork in that one. Lastly, we got khao soi, which wasn't bad, but we've definitely had better elsewhere in town. Overall, while the best Thai place in town is a good deal more expensive for the same dishes, I would say that you get what you pay for. Next time, I will definitely opt on the side of the known and go there instead. read more

We usually get take out from here, as we did for this visit. They are consistent in having the order ready at the stated time. My usuals are: chicken pad Thai, massaman curry and chicken satay. I order the chicken pad Thai without tofu on it. The massaman curry comes with rice. It's pretty straightforward, it's good. The chicken satay is basically meat on a stick but the sauce it comes with is delicious! I think it's some sort of sweet peanut sauce but it's tasty every time. I tried ordering through a 3rd party app one time for delivery and it said you can't make any substitutions or changes. It's better to call them directly and it's a better way to support small businesses and pick it up yourself. They've always been accurate with our order. We didn't get any utensils, not even chopsticks. I believe there's a new ordinance in Washington State that says that restaurants won't give out utensils unless the customer asks for them. I would have liked it if they offered utensils. I don't know the details on the regulation but it's frustrating when you find out after you leave the restaurant that you don't have utensils. Overall, the food is good and the service is good. I know we will be back. read more

First of all not the first time I have eaten here, I have had good service and good food the past times I've ate here. The most recent we came in to dine-in, we ordered food but we soon realized they were prioritizing to-go orders rather than the customers that came in to eat. We spent over an hour waiting for our food then when they finally brought it out they gave us no utensils to eat. We were never checked on for the rest of the night until we requested our bill. We were seated quickly and ordered our beverages. After perusing the menu we opted for a Fresh Vegetable Wrap for appetizers and we weren't disappointed; these crunchy, flavorful wraps are packed with the freshest ingredients and come with a spicy peanut sauce for dipping. Yummy! I had the chicken phad thai which was excellent- just the right amount of spice and a huge helping. Hubby had the Thai BBQ pork- thinly sliced pork tenderloin marinated and grilled, served over stir fried vegetables with rice. Simply delicious. Wow! We picked up take out from Wanida on 1/7 and were so impressed. The restaurant came highly recommended by multiple friends during a recent visit to Bellingham. I enjoyed the Pad Thai with fried tofu at 4 stars, hot. The heat level was perfect if not a little light. The noodles were perfect and the tofu was incredible. I could not stop myself! Thai food has always have a soft spot on my list of favourite cuisines, whenever we visit the States, we would make a point to visit the Thai Restaurants down south. When I think back, Thai Food has always been popular in the States when Pho was still relatively new to the ethnic food scene in the US of A and to a certain degree similar here in Vancouver, BC. This is highly recommended by my partner, who found this gem from YELP! We decided to make a day trip to Bellingham and made a stop for lunch here. The dining room was already 80% full when we entered at around 11:30ish, and from the tables, I can already see that the food is very good! Everyone is enjoying their meals and almost everyone asked for a take out containers!! ( as a Yelper, I hope to bring this to everyones' attention; please ask for paper containers and if possible bring your own, so that we will not have to throw away foam / plastic containers in our landfill ). Anyways, we decided to have 2 dishes to share: Meal #1 : Phad Thai - Chicken The National Noodle Dish of Thailand! Their version was done in the most traditional way; with Tamarind juice as the flavouring for the noodles instead of tomato ketchup ( as many places uses ) therefore, the colour of the dish is not red but a light brown colour. I really like this version as the noodles have a more natural tartness then the artificial sourness of using ketchup. The rest of the ingredients are also well balanced with eggs, bean sprouts, green onion, chilli, chicken, fish sauce, tamarind sauce etc. This is one of the best Phad Thai I had for a while, and of course their noodles where done el dente!! Meal #2 : Krapoa Gai Kai Dow - Minced Chicken with peppers and fried Basil This is featured as their Signature Dish, and also the reason my partner wanted to bring me here!! This is a very savoury dish with all the ingredients melded together to give you that distinctive Thai flavour! There is something magical about Thai Food! You can never tell that is the main seasoning they are using? Is it fish sauce, black bean sauce, soy sauce, tamarind sauce, or a mix of all the above! This signature dish can be included into this category : Magical!! They serve the minced chicken in the "Magical Sauce" with Jasmine Rice, and I can already find ten ways to have this with: Lettuce Wrap, Taco, Rice Noodles, etc...you get the idea! Service: Excellent! The young lady that served us was super friendly and also gave us some suggestions regarding the spiciness of the dishes, she also warned us not to over Star, as we can always add more chilli after!! The spices were tingling my throat, but I was able to taste the food. Any hotter, I wouldn't have enjoyed it. The portion size did not appear big but it was filling. I'm pretty happy with the food (solid 4 stars). Service: There were two waitresses on the floor. They were both friendly and nice. One of them took my order and brought my food in a timely manner, but I was completely IGNORED after that. Not even a single check-in with "How's the food?" After I was done with my noodles, I was sitting at the table for easily over 10 minutes, but I couldn't even ask for my check! I walked up to the counter and paid there. Recommendation: Call ahead and get your food to go. In fact, they get a lot of phone orders to go. So, even when there are a few groups eating in, they just can't handle it. So, my 2 star rating is based on dining in. So glad to have returned and to see that it is still a wonderfully delicious Thai restaurant that evidently has a very busy take-out trade. Dining in choices were terrific--spicy Japanese eggplant which, even though not as spicy as I could have asked for, is one of the best I have had anywhere.
