Dim sum? In Bellingham? Surely you jest... After a romp around the Farmer's Market with my dog, I stopped at the front to just grab a takeout menu. After the server told me she'd unlock the patio so I could sit outside with the pooch, we ordered two dim sum dishes (crab siu mai and shrimp har gow) and a broccoli in black pepper sauce. I'm trying to write this as objectively as possible because I want to see a restaurant succeed in that space, especially when people are so passionate about it. But I was surprised with what I ordered, especially because 50 miles north is a veritable dim sum paradise. The har gow was missing ginger, the crab was only on top and under was plain pork in the siu mai, and (this was my fault) I was expecting Chinese broccoli, not florets with crinkle cut carrots. The pepper sauce was good, but could have used more depth. Inside, the place is decorated well and there were a healthy number of people eating when I left. I hope these are mostly growing pains since they've not been open for long, and they'll figure out the spicefulness as they go on. They have ambiance and service down, which can make or break any meal, it was a pleasant, if not quite as flavorful and affordable as I would have hoped.

The food was delicious and the service was amazing. The curry I got was super flavorful and hearty, very filling ! The potatoes in it could have been cooked a bit longer as they were a bit crunchy, but it's okay because the rest of the ingredients completely outshined them (I mean this positively!) The servers were very sweet and attentive and the setting was great, it wasn't too loud and I would return!

The food is spectacular. Pan Asian mix of Chinese, Thai and Korean. It may be more than you want to spend, but it's worth it. Especially if you are looking for Chinese food as there isn't many great options in B'ham. We had the Peking duck, Thai chicken rice, orange chicken, green beans, chicken wings, Korean pork. I've had in the past the hot and sour soup with chicken and their pork dumplings

Not tea didn't stay hot due to the restaurant so come

Came here Sunday about 3:00 on a raining day October. Service was top notch. We order 4 dish, total $100. Shrimp shu Mai, is the only dish I like, the hubby said the beef was okay. The rest was too sweet. See descriptions on our pictures of the food we ordered. What i really don't like is the dining room was so COLD, more like freezing, it's hard to enjoy your food and it turn your food cold fast.

Inside was pretty typical for a good restaurant. Clean, polite service, kind servers. Guy next to us thought raising his voice was an appropriate way to communicate with the person sitting next to him, so that kind of sucked. Wish I had asked to move. Anyways, the food was really tasty for empty tummy's. We got 4 things and I attached pictures of them. The pad see ew was the best thing we got, but I am biased toward huge noodles. It was just made really flavorful and done well. BBQ pork fresh rice roll was my partners favorite and almost my favorite. It was very unique and sweet. No rice grain was in it, but the roll itself was made of rice. The garlic crispy chicken had an epic flavor profile but was very breaded, which might be someone's preference, but not ours. Still really yummy, tho. The Pork and Chicken Shu Mai was... not great. Not a lot of flavor, was kind of odd. I threw it away when I reheated it for later. Just did not care for it at all. I'd skip it if I were you. Will be back to try other things!

I've been waiting years for Bellingham to finally have a restaurant that serves dim sum. SoHo opened today and I knew I had to go! The interior is very well decorated and comfortable. The menus are excellently done with very clear pictures. A nice touch! All the food we ordered (a lot) was fresh and well prepared. Severs were prompt and friendly. In all, there highs and lows, but still an impressive first day. I will be back.

Second time to SoHo and so glad I came back. I tried the SoHo dim sum and Pud se eww and everything was beautifully done. The vegetables were incredibly fresh. They may just have the best Thai food in Bellingham. I have had the same dish at many other local spots and hands down this is the best.

The service is pretty standard and the staff were able to clear our plates relatively quickly. This is a Chinese or Asian style buffet, and we loved the Asian style fusion foods. There were rows and rows of food choices. Some of the trays were of hot food like ribs or fish, fried foods, various seafoods, a salad bar, sushi and sashimi bar, desserts or fruits, and even a DIY grilling station where you can choose your own meats or proteins, veggies, or noodles, and they'll freshly stir fry it on a hot stone flat grill top! The various seafoods included shrimp, clams, baked oysters, crawfish, and deep fried crab. My favourite was probably the sushi bar with many different rolls, nigiri sushi, sashimi, and sashimi salad. They also have an unlimited soft serve machine. All in all, a great lunch with amazing variety and portions!

They didn't have much to choose from either. No beef dishes as I can recall except the roast. Other than that it was mainly chicken dishes. They had some seafood dishes, but weren't fresh of course. They had seafood boil that had a few lobster halves, snails and crab legs, but it always ran out as soon as they filled it. People would just dig for it and leave the rest like the potatoes and corn. Luckily I was able to grab a few crabs and half of a lobster after the 4th fill. I did have a few baked oyster that was good. The place was semi decent when it came to cleanliness. The people that worked there were nice. They did have a Mongolian grill. Other than that, I will cut this review short because there wasn't anything phenomenal about this restaurant.

I think it would probably be busier at lunch since they do have a dim sum menu. We ordered off the dim sum menu because I was hungry for it and they still offered it. From the regular menu I just got stir fry pea vines. The pea vines were crunchy and garlicky. They were to my liking. On the dim sum menu we got tripe, Xiao long Bao, omasum, har gow, chicken feet, and ham sui gok. My favorites on the dim sum menu were the tripe, Xiao long Bao, and chicken feet. The omasum was a bit too chewy and needed to be cooked long because I also had a hard time eating it. Everything else filled me up quickly and they were a great late night eat! Overall, Golden City is a standard place for Chinese food. The employees were nice but it's easier to talk to them if you have another mandarin speaker with you. My partner speaks mandarin so he helped me order.

May be it's because we are all in "food coma" by the end of dinner! This visit was for dinner - and we were outside the door waiting even before they opened at 5:30. On a Tuesday. And we were already second in line. Celebrating a birthday, we had cold jellyfish starter, lobster fried e-fu mein, braised pomelo skin with seafood, and beef fried kai lan. The lobster was perfectly cooked. Even slight over-cooking can make the lobster meat tough. However, every piece was perfectly cooked. Including the large claws. Cooked with ginger and scallions, the lobster gravy coated each strand of e-fu noodles to umami yumminess. The braised pomelo skin was a special seasonal dish. I have not had this dish in many decades, and when I saw this in the special seasonal menu, I had to get it. The bittersweet braised pomelo skin complemented perfectly the fresh seafood, and topped a bed of Chinese spinach. It was the first time for the other members of my family and they literally sucked it all down. The beef with kai lan was another standout. Beef slices were tender and delicious and that perfectly complemented the well seared gai lan - great evidence of wok hei. Service is exemplary. Not just for a Chinese restaurant, but for any restaurant. The servers are constantly on the alert, and Everytime they see a plate filled with lobster shells, they would whip it away and replace it with a clean plate. They made sure that tea cups were filled and kept us updated with the delivery of the next dish. And at the end of the meal, dessert (Tong Shui) was complimentary... and they added a wonderfully light and flaky walnut cookie and piece of mochi for each of us.

The customer service was fine for a Chinese restaurant. The Peking Duck was the issue. Firstly, they didn't carve it in front of us and second, it looked like half the duck skin was missing - quite literally, they gave us half the duck's skin. Duck's are usually bigger than chicken so there should have been way more than what we had... it was haphazardly served on shrimp chips and the skins were cut in all sorts of weird sizes. Zero consistency. This tells me a couple things: one the Peking duck wasn't prepared in full for us, for this night, and two, it could have been left over from some other roasted duck. It definitely was off. I've had Peking duck many times and there's a lot of skin/meat in the first dish... not whatever was served to us tonight. I don't think I will go back. It was pretty brutal. The other two dishes were the saving grace but I definitely feel ripped off. The ambience was fine.
