This is a great place for the entire family. It was nice just to walk along the marina and watch the boats. Seagulls fly about. The lighthouse picnic area was nice overlooking Wantagh Bay. Came here on a Saturday for my employer's charity softball tournament. Our team played against many other employers, and this park totally delivered for the occasion! With three softball fields, it's basically built for tournaments and pick-up games. Parking was a breeze--lots right by each field, and since it was after Labor Day, no parking fee (pro tip: fees kick back in on Memorial Day). We set up a BBQ and picnic next to the first field. There are plenty of picnic tables and benches, plus some coal grills. But fair warning: the grills are pretty rough, so if you're serious about grilling, definitely bring your own. The softball area itself is perfect for family gatherings, company outings, or just a fun weekend with friends. Good energy, lots of space, and an easy setup for hanging out while cheering on a game. Can't speak for the rest of the park, but this section is definitely a win. read more

VERY nice park near my daughter and son-in-law. We took my grandson here for his VERY FIRST time on the swings and on a slide. This park had a lot of different slides to choose from, and his daddy took him on all of them. He wasn't too fond of the slides, but he loved being pushed on the swing. Soooooo cute. This park has a mini-golf area, a dog run, swimming, baseball fields, a marina, lots and lots of grass, picnic tables, and I know there's more, but I'm forgetting it now. This is for the pool I've been coming here since the 70s I used to be on the swim team as a kid. I've spent my entire life coming down here and I love it! There is almost always a breeze because it's right on the water so as you lay down, see the pool you look at the Bay right behind it. They used to make a lot of loudspeaker comments but they seem to calm that down which is really much better because it was very annoying. During the week you do have the camp kids but it is what it is. The pool is always clean and fresh. The kids that work here are always very pleasant and very nice. The lifeguards are always watching. Definitely a great deal if you're a senior. read more

This is a vast park that has nearly everything aquatic. That includes a swimming pool with big water slides, a marina to house hundreds of boats, boat launches, fishing areas and even a small beach. Although the park is mainly dog unfriendly there is dog run near the north end. The fence area along the bay is great for boat watching and people watching. There is plenty of parking. This park has so much to enjoy it's my sunshine go to park! Getting exercise in jogging along the water (there are stations if you choose) or a nice walk along the water. During this Pandemic - pool has been opened! Also the mini golf, playground is open and the picnic table are too. I see that all courts are open and the camp is set up for the kids too! Always a few people fishing and a lot of people just parking and relaxing in chairs - perfect for that! There's such a nice breeze and beautiful view. I've completely forgotten that Wantagh Park existed until recently! It's a little sad. We all live on this beautiful, bustling, crazy crowded island but often forget to take a moment to really enjoy where we are.. Even for just a little bit! A little mindfulness goes a long way. The park is long and narrow and a little tricky to enter if you don't quite understand that it's just past the entrance for the parkway off of merrick road. Once you do have the entrance tricks up your sleeve you're welcomed with all sorts of amenities such as baseball fields, BBQ areas, dog run, a pool (paid I believe), docks and a short walking/bike path. It does lack some open space in areas but seems very purposely laid out that way so as not to waste the land. Just like most everything else on lawn guy land, it's surrounded by a parkway, houses and a bit of the water. Still, a great spot for a short romantic stroll by the marina during the warmer months. I think they kick the kiddos out of the pool by 6 so the only squawking you'll hear is the seagulls. Take a moment to smell the salty summer air. Ahhhh.. This park is worth enjoying.. Especially since it isn't as crowded as other south shore hot spots. read more

This is truly a beautiful park. There are baseball fields, trails, a marina, and even a small beach off the main trail. They also have a dog run but with everything going on right now, that was closed when we visited. Everybody here is polite and kept their distance so everyone could enjoy the 70 degree day. There is also a pool which was obviously closed, with a picnic area nearby. Tons of places to sit and soak up the sun. Lots of families were having picnics or sitting on their boats and communicating with friends while maintaining a 6 foot distance. Unsure if there is a price for parking after Memorial Day or if they're a state park, if the latter I have an empire pass so I'm not concerned. read more

This is a really cool park, and it makes me wish we lived closer to it. It's on the water with a view of the Jones Beach theater (not close enough to hear or see whoever is performing there). There are a lot of benches and great walking paths. It seems fairly well maintained and kept clean. There is also a pool with a huge slide. There's a marina and also baseball fields that were recently redone. A lot of people seem to ride bikes on the paths, and they were just repaved. There's a good size area for barbecuing and picnicking and if it weren't a bit of a drive for us, we might actually do summer dinners there regularly. I love a good costal park or beach for an enjoyable picnic meal in the warm weather. It definitely worth a visit and a great place for a stroll, some family time and just to enjoy being outside. read more

Wantagh Park is such a iconic spot to go. This park has an amazing view from the houses, to the water. It has a very nice little track that you can walk on and just get your daily exercise in. This park helped through so much. Meditation, relaxation. Every time I come to the park it makes me happy. It's like I'm missing something in my life and Wantagh Park is the missing peace. Now they have a nice pool area and other playgrounds and stuff for dogs. Although I haven't been to the dog part of it, or more on the playground side. I have been to the pool area. I believe it's very overpriced. You can only use 2 of the pools there the big pool and the water slide. Rest of Them are for kids. Also the food is expensive as well. I would only go now for the park itself but not like pool or the golf or the dog park. Overall it's one of my favorite parks and it's a more iconic park to me. read more

It's small but it's full of things to do and there is a bicycle path that leads all the way to Jones Beach. The path itself is spectacular. If you are training for a marathon or an ultramarathon , a great place to train. read more

It's a pretty park and there are lots of things to do from mimi golfing to skating to boating to bbqing. However due to Covid-19 nothing but the park to walk or run and the boating was open. Growing up, my parents didn't really take us around locally. Our idea of a day at the park was waking up before dawn to load up the car and trek upstate, and return before heavy traffic. Those days were always fun, but the travel takes its toll. We could have had much more fun days at the park if they only realized what we had in our area, and Wantagh Park is a good indicator of that. It was a bit tough to find, our GPS just could not get the address right the first two or three times, but once we were there, it was pretty smooth sailing. We reserved our picnic area in advanced, but I could definitely see people coming to the park and settling down as a problem. We almost had that kind of problem when we noticed someone far off on what we thought was our space. Now, when you pay to use the area, you also have the option of purchasing a liquor license, which we did. If someone is kind of hijacking your turf, you're technically responsible for them which could end up in you being fined. It's a hard line to navigate, but at least we got those issues settled before drinks poured. I pretty much stayed glued to our picnic area, only making one of many trips to the bathroom which was quite a walk. The bathroom was fairly clean and well-stocked. The park had a nice breeze coming off of the water, so even though it was quite hot, and there wasn't much shade except for the tents we brought, it definitely helped cooled us down. All and all, it was a great day, and I hope to return soon to enjoy the rest the park has to offer. read more

The bathrooms are a nice walk so be prepared Although i didnt get a chance to walk down to where people send their boats into the ocean it was nice. For non residents it's 10 dollars to park then it's 25 dollars each person and 20 dollars for children. This is an amazing pool. It is definitely worth the money if you plan a day here! We went on the Fourth of July and it wasn't crowded at all. Wantagh park has an Olympic size pool for adults... A pool for diving.. A children's pool... A children's water playground... A pool with two slides... And a baby's pool with a play ground ... As for the food, the chicken fingers and fries were decent and I paid 7 dollars... I was able to bring in a bag of water and none checked my bag or said anything...I don't know if that is always the case ... But the parking lot isn't far to keep a cooler in the car and you can have a snack or lunch in the parking lot.... Lastly, the locker rooms and bathrooms were decent. I will definitely visit this place at least once a year. read more

There's a few public pools here.. if you're not a resident it's $20/person . . which isn't that bad at all, considering that it's super clean! I love the body of water (so nice on a hot summer day). This is a great park, and the county has poured a lot of money into it lately. Great pools, ball fields, fishing and crabbing, nice view of the inlet watching boats go by, etc. However. Good luck trying to find a spot somewhere, anywhere, on grass where there aren't Canadian geese droppings. It's literally everywhere. Forget about a picnic lunch on the grass, unless you don't mind looking at droppings while you eat. It's a shame, I've complained about this so many times to anybody who would listen. The Canadian geese are a protected species, and because of this, we sub-humans have to live a lower quality of life infested with droppings. It's everywhere. read more

I use Wantagh Park's dog run from time to time. Unfortunately there aren't many smart dog owners there, and let their dogs do whatever they please. I've even heard of incidents where dogs were fighting and ended up severely hurting eachother, but that only applied to the large dog park. Normally I stick to the small dog park and it's normally fine, aside from some people with unfixed pooches that only want to take care of "business" while in the park. Can't comment on the rest of the park as I've never used any other section of the park. The marina they have is pretty nice looking though. read more

This is a good park. The playground is okay. My kids prefer eisenhower. (The new one) Their pool is awesome. We always have fun in their sprinklers. I like that its never crowded and I can find a chair in the covered deck. I love the pool and the marina is beautiful. We walk to the marina with bikes and keep strolling its beautiful. They have 2 huge tents for parties but Ive never rented them. I do not use their dog run but the basketball courts are awesome-The playground by the basketball court is not that fun. My kids do not enjoy going there that much. Overall I love any place with water and a nice breeze and you will get this here. read more

I have been going to this park for the 24 years I've been alive, yes it may need some updating but over the years they have been fixing what needs to be fixed and updating when they can, they are currently adding a mini golf course and fixing up the marina bathroom/office building. The pool is terribly expensive and they have a list of rules a mile long.Apparently you can't take pictures of your own kid ,you can't use flotation devices for a young child you can't put strollers at certain points.i think the staff is racist at the pool area if you ask me.the park itself is beautiful I would not go to the pool section again read more

"Don't waste your time!! I have been coming here for 20, and I have to say this is the ugliest and worse condition I have ever seen it. Came here over the weekend to spend a relaxing day with my family. We were taken back by the conditions. My sister, who recently had a baby, could not spread a blanket over the grass due to the negligence of care causing the field to be full of the geese's waste. Want to reserve? Sure for a whopping $50/hr you can sit on their bench and use the BBQ resource (old, rusty, and outdated). Want a view by the marina? Now this has always been my favorite place at the park, but the 50 yards of beach that your aloud to go, has been washed up and now looks like a dumping ground. You want to relax? This place is amazing. I drive here a few times during the summer from Brooklyn. I generally go for the pool but it's also a great place for BBQ. Because I hate the public pools in the boros this has been my go to spot. Its never packed and theres a pool for everyone. My toddler has an option between three different pools, the adults have two pools and there's even a pool with a slide. The food isn't that great but its priced right. If your not a resident be ready to pay a hefty fee of $25 per head. Overall, a great place to spend your day. read more

Love love the Wantagh Pool Complex. The lifeguards and staff are some of the best around. The pool is super clean with cabanas and lounge chairs. Get to the pool at opening for best spot. The pool is right at the marina and you can watch the boats come in and out. We spend the whole day and feel like we are on vacation or at a beach club. Some days it's a little over run with campers but itssummer and I just put in my earbuds and listen to some nice music, can't wait till summer. read more
