We had a wonderful time here this past weekend. We took the RV and got a full hookup. The park was clean and the staff was friendly and nice. We took canoes down the river and it was a nice, easy float. We did some fishing and hiking too. There was a small pool that stayed open from 6pm to 11pm and a little restaurant that serves up two kinds of beer plus BBQ and breakfast food. The only suggestion that I can think of is to bring some earplugs in case you happen to have loud neighbors. It would be nice to have a "night owls" camping area for those who plan to stay up past 10pm and a family friendly area for people with kids or just for those who don't want to be up late drinking and rabble rousing. read more

In the past we have floated the river with this outfit.. we don't use the camping. We have a bumper pull that we tow when we need to camp. Other than that, from some of our previous visits seemed off during communication and wait times of our planned float trips . But listen, how the folks that run these river establishments have been under some stressors: guests not listening by doing their own thing, inconsiderate college kids', and just some of those who want to know if "you know who my father is?"... We have dealt with bratty fellow floaters who seem way too young to be drinking on the floats, and yes it was this one. A lot of the attitudes of the college kids bring these type of fun things a'do for us on the NO GO list. If y'all want to have a great time, a clean summer water experience without having to pay big fees... go to Spavinaw Creek, Grand Lake State Park.. there are a chock full of other watering holes in OKLAHOMA!! If you don't mind packing your Teva's and traveling a bit, then check out TRAVELOK.com!! You may have to pay to park, but the scenery is beautiful, and you can bring your own rafts, kayaks, and canoes.... Don't just limit yourself. Research the best watering holes of OKLAHOMA! read more

I can't speak for the lodging accommodations at War Eagle, but I can vouch for the floating experience. We've used WE every time we have been to the river to float. A raft will perfectly accommodate 3-6 people. We like the shorter 6 mile trek compared to the 12 mile. Yesterday the staff was able to get us checked in and ready to go in no time, despite the resort being the busiest I've ever seen it. Everyone we interacted with from War Eagle was welcoming. Pam in the office at 9a.m. this morning was extremely rude! I'm pretty sure we paid for a raft she didn't write down on the paperwork so when we got out to the water that was a debacle (even one of the workers at the water was like she does this all the time) the receipt she gave us did not reflect anything other than the dollar amount charged to my debit card. Then at the end of the day our younger cousin did some dumb things and we had an interaction with her and although I understand the validity of the situation her actions were unprofessional and VERY UNCALLED FOR! read more

We waited in the long line after talking to the guy making sure our name was on the list because we had a reservation for a raft and assured us we would have a raft just to get all the way to the front and say we are out of rafts and that our res didn't matter and some rude lady came out and told us to get the fuck out of line because are we stupid there's no rafts. I'm just mad because if we had known this from the start we would have made it for earlier and another thing is being in customer service that is no way to talk to people. Then at the end they had rafts for 2 more groups and said there was still a chance for us to get a raft. read more

This place is a nightmare. Do not camp here. The campground is a party location for the lowest society has to offer in the area. There were fights, loud music, nudity, trash and feces strewn about. They have a security company (Patriot Security) that races their trucks up and down between the tents until 11pm (traveling at high speeds on a gravel road) and carrying sidearms when they barely seem old enough to carry a squirt gun,... when they leave, then the real mess begins. None of the facilities are up to code as it is considered federal land belonging to the Cherokee nation, however no self respecting Native American would set foot on this Godforsaken trash heap. The filth is rampant in every sense of the word and a family has absolutely no place here. Please do NOT even attempt to expose your children to this. Our family left early and stayed somewhere else to try to get sleep before our long drive home. We do a float trip every year and this one was a a bug infested bust. We might try to save up and go somewhere else, but we definitely wasted our vacation time and money trying this heck hole out. read more

Made reservations over a month ago for 3 rafts, had family come from 2 different states and rented a air b n b and was told to be there before 1, we got there at 930, stood in line for 3 hours and got to the door and they told us they were out of rafts to go home. The float trip itself went well, but ultimately the trip was ruined because of a simple misunderstanding and very poor customer service.

A group of us (~25) decided to come to War Eagle for a weekend float trip. Because of how large our group was, we decided to rent out the Shawnee Lodge for the weekend. All of us split the nightly rate which came out to approximately $35 a night per person. I thought the price was easily worth it. The lodge we stayed in was clean, well lit, and overall very nice. The bathrooms were exceptionally clean as well as all of the appliances. Granted, the bunk beds were a little uncomfortable, but I wasn't expecting the same level of comfort that I might get when sleeping in a JW Marriott. We received wrist bands, which allowed us access to the other amenities in the resort, such as the pool and volleyball court. Their pool was clean and kept up. It's an old school pool, as in it gets deep quickly, which I appreciated. The float itself was fun as well. I had never rafted before, so it was an experience all its own for me. We got on the water right at 10:00am and were finished around 3:00pm... and that was with plenty of stops along the way. Our rafts were all in good condition as well. I'll add one tip...buy river shoes. I made the incredibly stupid mistake of not buying any and my feet are paying for it as I write this review. For anyone that is wanting to float the river, I definitely recommend War Eagle! read more

There was a misunderstanding because we had a large group and paid for people before they arrived. However, when they showed they insisted that we never payed. Instead of coming to an understanding the owner was extremely rude and threw our money back at us. Worst customer service I've ever experienced. read more

Arrived in with a group of 20 (5 of whom were 10 and under). The website said 10 and under are $10 each. When we got here they told us we could only have 1 child for 10 and under, even though we got FOUR rafts! read more

I went floating here and I accidentally left a bag on my raft for about 5 minutes while I was using the restroom. when I went back to reclaim my bag from the raft drop off location, I noticed that my bag was physically cut open at a locked pocket & my cash was stollen but all the cards and ID were left. In all honesty I do suspect it to be the workers to have taken it based on how nonchalantly they answered my questions. It was my mistake for being dumb and leaving cash there, but as a warning to others, after checking out your raft don't bring your wallet with you in the case you get separated from your items. read more

The new A-frame cabins are roomy, clean, and well furnished. Two bedrooms, lots of seating, full kitchen, furnished deck, beautiful view. Staff went out of their way to make sure we got to float even when the weather didn't cooperate. We will definitely return. read more

Went on a float trip today in a group of 16. When we arrived, we had to wait in line for about 20 minutes to register (it was a pretty long line and the process was relatively quick). There were snacks, water shoes and other convenient items available for sale in their store. There was also a barbeque shack. Once you pay you wait for your name to be called, grab your life jackets and paddle, then jump on a bus to be driven to your drop off point. We went on a 12-mile trip ($24 per person). There is a rope available close to the beginning of that trip. If you want to swing off of a rope, you should pull over, because that's the only one there (as of today). I'd give the place 5 stars if they had nicer bathrooms. read more

This resort has always done us well. They deal with large numbers of people in a very efficient manner the wait times are longest (usually 10-20 minutes) if you come at the most popular time (9:30-11:00 Saturdays) but if you come earlier or later it will be super fast. They always have the equipment you need and it doesn't matter the group size they can always accommodate you. The lodging has all been updated and is the nicest you will find anywhere. We will never go anywhere else. read more

The only other time I've been to the river I camped at War Eagle, so I don't have any other place to compare it to. That being said I recently stayed in one of the lodges and had a great experience! Our group stayed in Shawnee Lodge which has bunk beds for up to 32 people. There are two room of 8 bunks, 2 full bathrooms and 2 half baths. It has a full kicthen and decent living room space. There are several seating areas as well. I like this lodge being so close to the front office and pool. They made check in easy both for the lodge and the float trip. The facility provides trash bags ans toilet paper, but everything else is in your own from cookware to utinsels. There is also a grill provided. On the morning of your float, make sure you dont have any glass or styrofoam, and only low point beer. We saw cops out and people getting fined, so take that seriously. Also make sure you check in with the office when your entire group is ready and not before that. I really enjoyed my time here, and I would definitely stay at War Eagle again in the future! read more

We planned a group float trip as part of our High School Class Reunion and they were very accommodating. You do need to understand that when you show up there is a wait (anywhere from 10 - 50 minutes) but if you get your group organized it goes so much quicker. It was a smooth process from getting our equipment and getting on the water. The river was so packed but we had a great time. I would highly recommend War Eagle to anyone looking to have a great affordable weekend getaway. read more

The facilities are nice and clean and the person who took us up to the river was nice, but we did not at all appreciate whoever decided to mow the lawn right outside our door at 7:30 AM. We only stayed one night and we don't mind mornings but that was downright inconsiderate. read more

Never stay here! We had a terrible experience with the old, senile security guard. He came over the first night and said we had to turn off the music and keep it down because quiet hours were at 11. We were not aware of quiet hours because we were never told of them. So we of course did beccause we are not rowdy, rude people. The next night at 11 everyone was inside except me and one other person. We were sitting at the picnic table talking. No music, no loud talking, just winding down. Here comes the security guard who says we need to keep it down. I said ok, but how are we being loud? He never could answer why he was harassing us but did keep threating to arrest me! He left and came back about 30 minutes later with a park ranger. The ranger said we all had to leave because the guard felt disrespected. He kept accusing of of setting off a truck alarm. We even told the ranger we had all drank throughout the day floating the river and felt it was really unsafe to make us leave. They didn't care. No remorse and no refund! Apparantly the senile security guard used to be a park ranger and recently retired. The thing is we stayed at a cabin across the street from the campgrounds and I know for a fact that on Saturday we did not break any quiet hours rules. This guy is crazy and on an ego trip. How you can be kicked out of a place, not refunded and threatened to be arrested all because of one old man's bruised ego is beyond me. To top it off the rate per night is very steep compared to the accomidations. The cabin is musty and old. The mattresses in the bunkbeds are disgusting. Trust me, there are way better places to stay! Don't let this nasty security guard or nasty cabin ruin your river trip like they did ours!!!! read more
