I loved Diamondhead Resort when I stayed here. I came to Diamondhead in March with my college to help volunteer for our spring break, and I fell in love with the resort. We stayed in both log cabins and had the kitchen (which we did pay for so no special favors there), with our leader staying in a motel room nearby. We all had a wonderful time staying here and I think about that trip all the time. Yes we had some mayflies that came in when we let the doors open too long, or some small spiders, but it was generally a clean cabin despite being right in the woods. As someone who is terrified of bugs, and isn't someone who would claim to love or even like camping, I genuinely felt great staying here! Waking up to the gorgeous sunrises of Oklahoma on the deck was my favorite part of the day at Diamondhead. The group would attest as well that the lake we were at was so wonderful, and we all had a lovely time skipping rocks and looking at nature and the waves of the water. There are plenty of places to make campfires, gather wood, run around, explore, you name it. It was genuinely incredible to stay here and I am so thankful every day I got to come here. One day I'll come back! In short, if you are looking for a place to stay to explore the wilderness and have a traditional camping experience, I would come here. So this past weekend I went to diamondhead to celebrate my birthday, we had a very large group of people but we have NEVER had so much trouble and disappointed as we had this year!!!! I have been coming to diamondhead for the past 8 years, never have we choose to go to any resort but after this year my WHOLE GROUP (52 ppl) will be taking our money and enjoyment elsewhere!!! Apon arrival I called the morning we were coming out which would've been on that Friday. I asked what the remaining balance of our room was. The lady gave me an estimate. OK cool well as everyone who goes to diamond head knows that if you pay for the motel rooms or the bunk houses or any of that you have to pay a deposit so we did that back when we reserve the room months ago when we get there they want to charge us $125 incidental fee that the girls working register said it was in place of the deposit as well... but we already paid that on top of the remaining balance of our room didn't give nobody a heads up that they had made these changes didn't let me know whenever I called that morning that they were doing that so that was the first incident, especially because in the office on every single computer it only said that there was a $25 incidental fee not 125, when we pointed that out to the guy that was helping us, he instantly went to all of the computers and tore them down. then we get the keys to our room we walk in our room. It smells like complete fish like disgusting unbearable. We tried to air out the room that in hell we lit some candles that didn't really help and so we went back to the office and asked them about it, and the guy that originally helped us helped us again he didn't even wanna come in our room because he knew that it didn't smell good. He even told us that the room's leak whenever it rains... but they wanna charge us $125 incidental fee?? how about you upgrade your rooms and actually do something about the mold the stains ,the smell, the dirtiness why don't they worry about that instead of trying to charge people just like they charge my mother a $400 bill whenever she already paid fully for her room, how does that make any sense? and when did the prices go from $34 for a float to $40 per person per float up charging for what? Nothing about the float changed the mileage didn't change the capacity didn't change, so why does the price need to change? And on top of that, they drove all of us up to our destination to get on the raft to start our float and what wasn't there? the rafts! So we all had to wait around for 30 minutes at the destination just to wait for some rafts that should've already been there and ready.. Our first time there we were unaware the bunk beds did not come with pillows and blankets. Our toilet was over flowing and we had no running water after that in room 19 from Friday to Sunday. REGARDLESS... Brandon the staff member/manager I believe that's what he was, Was very very polite, patient with the situation and made things right towards the end at our check out. I am certain other people have had a better experience than ours. With that being said I would still do business with diamond head and Brandon because he made it right and was understanding with the situation. Unfortunate what we went through, but it certainly was not Brandon's fault. Things break and things need repairing. And we had the bad luck that weekend. Fantastic stay! Very clean and crew was very helpful. Only drawback was there was no shade parking where the RV hook ups were.

This place is terrible. They double charged me for motel rooms. Also had some unknown charge on my credit card. We've been going for years, but this place is now under new ownership. They are very difficult to deal with, and the new owners are shady. I'm still trying to get this sorted out. Do not give these folks your credit card number. You'll regret going here. read more

We stayed here for the weekend. The staff was friendly at check-in, the staff and security were as well. The grounds are big, clean with plenty of trash barrels throughout the property that are empty daily. There is plenty of spots for RVS and tent camping. There are cabins and hotel style rooms which we stayed in the hotel but after the 1st night we were second guessing doing so, as people are very loud in their rooms especially the ones above you with their hard walking at all hours of the night and you can practically hear everything next to you but we managed. Also the rooms don't have any plugs except one in bathroom. The beds we found rather hard for us. The people around in other rooms where friendly but way too loud at night but this is to be expected. This resort also has a bar & grill that serves food, cheap drinks with live music on weekends which is nice to hear The rafting experience was easy process, there is 6 and 12 mile. If you or others are floating do let the staff know when checking in so you can get your time and your instructions. We did the 12 mile as the water flowing really quickly. Please be aware of the water and debris in the water such as trees, be mindful of others on the river and maintain a safe distance (a lot) Next time we come back we will definitely get us a cabin. read more

Diamondhead is one of the most beautiful spots in NE Oklahoma, and the staff is great. They know the area, the river, the music (we go for Diamond Stone, formerly Medicine Stone.) The campsites are clean and well-maintained; the Gravel Bar offers decent food and drinks at reasonable prices, the floats are fun. it's the setting that just kicks butt, especially when you're out on the river. Diamond Stone / Diamondhead Resort was the worst experience I have ever had! First the owner told us the price and we were good with it then when we got there they told us a whole different price $300 more then what the owner originally told us and that wasn't including floating with them. Then the owner was rude with us because we were confronting her that she told us two different prices. Well it was the beginning of our vacation so we didn't let it bother us. Well then around 5:30p.m. today they told us they were closing the park down because they are selling it that we needed to leave asap. We were pissed cause not only did we pay for tonight we also got kicked out. When I say we got kicked out I am not over reacting. Around 7 p.m. we were almost done getting out the owner went to our campsite, cussed out my dad and kept stepping towards him in his face and the security guard kept trying to push her away from my dad, and she kept going towards him, then called the police saying that we threatened her. While the police were on their way she kept cussing him out. While my 5 year old cousin was in the truck and could hear everything and he is to the point where he repeats everything. Four police officers came ,one more came after that video. Waiting for us to leave. Diamond Stone /Diamondhead Resort is not family friendly nor would I recommend them to my enemies. read more

Just wrapped up our stay here and it was such a quaint place! The bar is within walking distance and river nearby. The bedrooms consist of 2 beds, a nightstand, 2 chairs and a bathroom, so if you're someone that falls asleep to the tv (like me), bring an iPad! read more

It is no surprise as I read these reviews all the complaints are on customer service. All the men we encountered this weekend were very pleasant, everyone else was rather uptight & rude. I gave one star for cleanliness & one star for how easily they let us change our camp site due to the original one being covered with water puddles. Our first frustrations came with how frequently they change their hours on a whim without notifying you & no organization. The day we checked in, we paid for our site & floats. They failed to mention the fact that they shut down floating Friday & Saturday, & that there was a chance they might not float the next day or mention that they don't refund. All signs stated they would open the bar at 3, they opened at 5. The food tasted like high school football team concession food. It made us all feel horribly sick after. The day of our float; All signs say breakfast starts at 8. They were not serving breakfast to customers at all. They were however cooking breakfast for themselves. We arrived at the front rather early to get a status on whether or not they were floating & all they could say was, "We don't know yet. We will know between 8-9." This really should've been a red flag for us, because truthfully the water was not safe. There was lots of debris in the water & the current was moving very quickly. Patrol & rescue was up & down the river all day. One of our floats got flipped & went under trying to help another couple stuck in a tree in the middle of the river. We all made it back safe on our other 6 man float, but it was rather traumatic. You do sign a waiver so that was not their fault, but I do feel there were many inexperienced people on the river that had no business being there. Our experience here was truthfully one disaster after another. We will come back to the river but we won't stay here again. read more

Went there for a float trip. Rented a 4 person raft. They were very efficient and very nice to deal with. Equipment was in good shape and we had a really great time floating down the Illinois River. I've been coming to diamond head for the 8th year in a row. All they have done is upgrade and be extremely easy. You're going camping, not a 5 star hotel people. Everyone is here to have fun, grill out some food and share drinks and laughs with everyone. If you want exquisite float trips go to Broken Bow. The people at Diamondhead are very easy to get along with, experienced and truly a place you won't forget if you wanna party on the river. Just remember no Jell-O shots you will be fined out the a$$. Diamondhead Resort is by far the best place to camp and float on the Illinois River. Their campgrounds are beautiful, the bathrooms are the cleanest and their customer service is excellent. Their canoeing, rafting and kayaking prices are the cheapest of any outfitter whose equipment will get you down the river. This is by far the worst experience I have ever had while camping. The grounds are filthy, management is belligerent to those who rationally try to talk with them and don't even think about getting power to your trailer. The breakers constantly trip even when using lower power than they advertised. The expense is not worth it. For the same price you can get a great cabin (with power!) just down the road. The worst was management. They were immediately aggressive when we asked if we could get power to our trailer. Completely unprofessionally. I recommend you stay away! read more

Beware of Diamondhead Resort!!! Just spent $260 on the cabin for twelve and it was FILTHY dirty. The AC works great, but that's just about all I can say good about the cabin. The bathroom was just plain disgusting, looked like it hadn't been scrubbed in months. The tile floors throughout the cabins needed desperately to be mopped, the refrigerator was grossly dirty, and some of the provided bedding had unidentified stains which we simply turned our eyes from and pretended must be nothing because we were plan exhausted when we arrived. Also, for a cabin that is supposed to sleep 12 people, there were a total of 5 towels. Hmmmm.... Not only was the cabin disgusting, but Diamondhead Resort just totally ripped us off on a float trip we spent $192 on. I had called repeatedly to check on the water level because we had 2 3 year-olds coming on the trip, so I did my homework. I asked the questions any concerned mom would ask and was "sold" the float trip as a "lazy river" trip which would be a breeze with kids. The water levels are so low right now that we literally had to push/pull our 3 floats 4 out of the 6 miles. Well, this float trip was ANYTHING but lazy. It was downright miserable. I've been on dozens of float trips and loved them. But this one was the worst by far. Then when I very rationally and calmly expressed to the owner my disappointment and concern at being sold a trip which I felt had been highly misrepresented (I didn't even request a refund!!!), the owner (who looked and acted as if he was either a meth addict, high on something I've never heard of, ridiculously drunk, or maybe all three) actually got an inch from my face and and screamed profanities at me for a good five minutes and physically threatened me. And his wife repeatedly called me a b*tch. It was highly unprofessional bully me just because I was expressing my real concerns as a customer about having basically been lied to about what our "lazy river" float trip would be like. I had to ask them to call the police because the dude was so crazy. PLUS they wouldn't give me my car keys so I could just leave. They held them hostage until I reminded them that there were cameras in their place of business in which the police could easily actually observe what happened, rather than having to take either of our words for it. I had a reservation at Diamondhead for 16 people to float the river via raft. When i made our reservation a week before our float weekend, the person on the phone failed to tell me that we had to be there by 10 AM. When we all arrived at 11 AM the very young girl running the desk said that we were too late and they had no rafts left for us. She explained that on Saturdays they will rent the rafts out even if you have a reservation if you arent there by 10. When i told her that they forgot to mention this detail to me when i made the reservation she just said "well they should have told you." When she told the other young girl working the desk with her whatbwas going on she said "its okay" with much apathy. We were pretty disappointed and they offered nothing to make up for their mistake, such as a discount for later or anything. As i could see when i walked in, this place is run by a bunch of young teens and twenty somethings who could care less. I would recommend using Arrowhead resort. At least they have some supervision by older adults who know what they are doing. read more
