This is me and my husband's favorite spot to get away, out of the city. The grounds are always clean and so well maintained. The resort is owned by a family and they really are just great hosts. We recently stayed a week in our rv but they have primitive camping and cabins as well. I love that it is rarely as busy as all the other places on the river. They own their own private part of the river so you rarely see others from other campsites. The river access is supreme. I just can't say enough good things about this little hidden gem. This was a wonderful experience! Check in was great-extremely nice staff. We stayed in a cabin that was right up from the river. The room was clean and the AC worked great! We had a view of the river that was spectacular. The float trip was awesome! We have been floating many many times but this different because it was north of the other places we have stayed and we didn't run into a lot of drunk college kids-and that was important because we wanted a drama-free trip! I have been floating this river for 30 years. Although all campground/float sites are friendly, Riverside has gone above and beyond anything I have experience. We had a mishap on the river with a kayak flipping which required a 911 evacuation. Dillon came up stream and stayed with me until helped arrived. Considering everything was lost keys to car, cellphone and other personal items the staff was more than gracious and hospitable while we waited several hours while waiting for assistance in getting new keys. Words cannot express how heartwarming it was to know people still care. Riverside gets more than 5 stars from me! read more

These guys and gals are awesome! We had a great time floating the Illinois River with them over the holiday weekend for the 4th of July. The river was just right, and the staff here was very friendly, very helpful and their prices were very fair. They bussed us up river and set us up with everything we needed to make it back to camp! Their store was well-stocked with all the stuff you tend to forget, like aqua socks, sunscreen and those clever little cases to keep stuff dry. OH, and you can't forget the always-classy koozie on a string, you know, so you can wear it around your neck! Everyone needs one or two of those! read more

This is the best camp on the river for families. Clean, private, cozy and beautiful. Very quiet, wide open spaces and the RV sites are super shaded and very spacious compared to other camps. Has BBQ grill, water source, clean bathrooms, great owners, I just can't say enough about how wonderful this camp is. The cabins are steps from the water, very nice and crazy reasonable on price. We had a blast here and will start coming here every year from now on. We wish we had found this camp years ago. read more

This place is great clean cabins right on the river. They are also the furthest North on the river which means there are far less people on the this stretch of the river. Riverside is quickly gaining a reputation as the most family friendly resort on the Illinois River, and I love them for it! I've witnessed the owners promptly evict a group of people who simply had way too much to drink and had become a nuisance for other guests at the resort. The owners were polite but very firm in their action. This is why I bring my family here. On the rare occasion someone acts a fool at Riverside, they're gone! They simply don't put up with it, which means my family and I don't have to either. There is also way fewer people on this part of the river since it's the furthest North from Tahlequah. You get to foot an area of the river that no other resorts use. The cabins are very clean, priced right, and have the best view of the river. I noticed a couple of bad reviews on here. Lol!!!! All I can say is that I guarantee you those are the groups of folks that acted a fool and were evicted. Angry and embarrassed people will make up the craziest stories! Riverside is great. The people are friendly and you can't beat the price for cabins, especially considering you're right on the river. My favorite aspect is that you end your float at the camp - you just have to get out of your raft and walk right to your area. We were promised kayaks but as the date approached for our Labor Day trip here we were told they no longer have kayaks. We had a group of 20. We were deceived so we had to keep our reservation. No refund. A friend of our group brought a small puppy along with their baby. They didn't know the pet policy but told the manager about it truthfully as they signed the "no pet in cabins form". Riverside told them to get out and canceled their reservation even though they offered to take the dog back home. So that's one of our family members family whose trip was ruined. Another family had a small dog staying with them in the tent and primitive area. It just happened to walk into a cabin and Riverside thug came running over and cancelled their weekend as well. Even though they did not sign a form about pets nor was the dog even staying with them! Said they were goin to call the police and kicked them out. So now two of our relatives were without a place to stay on Labor Day weekend. They offered to take the dog back home as well, instead of waking up their children. Instead we were all threatened as we all stayed completely calm. Also one of the cabins reeked of mold and had a multitude of bugs inside it. We got our money back from that cabin but our credit card was charged twice! Plus one of our group had their card number stolen and bank account wiped out... they had only used the card at Riverside! This is a great place to take the family. It has cabins that have two beds, and full kitchen setup or campgrounds. They offer float trips of 6 and 12 mile with rafts, canoes, single-man kayaks, and double-man kayaks. Great service and alot of fun. read more

To start off we rented a cabin this weekend, when we arrived in our cabin there was a bloody band aid in the shower. The next day our neighbors woke us up at 7:15 am with fire works, so we told the staff that worked there they said " we will talk to them about it." Nothing happened considering they did it again the next morning. We also rented rafts from them for the 12 mile they dropped us off at the 6 mile and would not refund us our money back. This review is going to be long. But it is honest, thorough, and word for word truth about how a large group of adults and children were treated by this establishment and its "owner". There was a group of 4 adults and 3 small children that came to Riverside Resorts to stay on a Friday night. We called ahead, reserved our slots, and were told a price. They were asked "and this included everything?" to which the person taking the reservation replied "yes". The group of 4 adults and 3 children were kept awake until 3 am from another campsite nearby that had adults drunk, playing ball, yelling and screaming while they were trying to sleep. They didn't want to start trouble so they just suffered through it (keep in mind they paid the extra for quiet enforced curfew because of the kids). My husband, myself, my 7 year old and my 5 yeard old woke up at 5am and drove straight to the resort from OKC so we could get our reservation and meet the rest of the group that had already spent the night. One part of our group went in to pay for rafting and the price told was SIGNIFICANTLY higher than they had been told on the phone. I was outside so I was unaware that the price increase was being discussed already. When my husband and I went in to pay we were blindsided by the fact that it was about 40 dollars more than expected. We talked amongst ourselves about how it wasn't that high last year to which the owner replied "I wasn't here last year." We directed our attention to her since we weren't talking to her in the first place and said, "we were talking about Eagle Bluff being cheaper, we didn't stay here last year. " Then when I found out it was even more to camp for the night in addition to the rafting, I made the universal symbol for gun to the head. Now, let me just say, should I have done that? No. Was I directing that toward her? No. I did it, I didn't think much about it. We paid and began filling out the paperwork. At this time, the owner came over to us and said "no one is forcing you to stay here." We actually thought she was kidding. We smiled and continued filling out the paperwork. She got closer to my face and said "NO ONE IS FORCING YOU TO STAY HERE." My husband said, "we want to stay here, you have a nice place here" and continued the paperwork. She got closer yet and said again "NO ONE IS FORCING YOU TO STAY HERE." He then said "is there a problem or something?" To which she pointed at me, wagged a finger in my face and said "I don't like your little girlfriend here and her attitude." He corrected her by saying "my wife" and she kept going about how if we opened our mouths one more time about the price, we could leave. I was COMPLETELY taken aback because I had no idea what the issue was and once we got over the shock of the price, nothing more was said about it. So I said okay and walked out to let my husband fill out the rest of the paper work. The rest of the group including children (5 small children total) were outside and I went out to join them. My husband was still inside when the lady came out a few moments later and had her eyes on me. She said "Do you all need to leave?" I again said, "I'm sorry, what is the deal? I have no clue what you're talking about." That's when she said my gesture that I did is what sent her over the edge. Now realizing that it was me that offended her I GENUINLEY apologized profusely because I had no idea that's why she was mad. She continued getting more angry and verbally attacking me and saying how we were all rude IN FRONT OF MY CHILDREN. That's when someone from our group "said hey now, your employees had a bad attitude from the minute we walked in" (we got not a single hello, smile, or friendly gesture when we walked in). She then yelled at us said "THAT'S IT! You all are through. Come get your refunds." She was VERY hateful and forced us to all get refunds. This whole thing put us so far behind that we had to call to find another place and we couldn't get there in time to do the 12 mile as planned. After floating with War Eagle for the day (They were VERY kind and accommodating) we came back to our campsite at Riverside and was told we were not allowed to stay. So now we had to pack up 3 tents, all our camping stuff, and move. This was not bad for us, this was bad for our kids. They wanted a fun back to school trip and majority of it was spent moving around and being rushed around. So, we stayed RIGHT NEXT DOOR at public access. It was wonderful. It was 12 dollars per campsite so we all stayed for 12 dollars. (Riverside is 15 dollars PER car). We had great picnic tables, our own trashcan, close bathrooms, and there was NO ONE up late and making noise. So, was I wrong for the gesture I did? Yes. Was I genuinely sorry and apologetic? Yes. I took full responsibility for it. This lady went CRAZY let her emotions get the better of her and treated a large group of people that float 2 times a year with children like crap.
