The good: you can get a last minute appointment pretty easily. I booked an 11:45am Saturday morning appointment at 6:30am the same day. The bad: customer service. They don't greet you or direct you to anywhere. You go to information, they look at you, don't respond, and actually go help others. So, the reviews criticizing Warby Parker are correct. The optometrist was nice and did her job. They schedule you an appointment for next year. I like that you get a digital copy of your prescription which because of exorbitant prices I took the rx elsewhere. It's not a bad location, easy to get to. I still think Austin did us dirty by charging for parking in SoCo. Not Warby Parker's fault thought. read more

I've always liked Warby Parker for their stylish, affordable glasses and their social mission: For every pair sold, they distribute a pair to someone in need, with over 20 million pairs given to date. It's a win, win! Most of their frames are only $95, including lenses. Others go up to &175, which is still affordable. Today I went in for my yearly eye exam and to pick out a new pair of glasses. They took me right on time and gave me the eye exam, which was covered under my insurance. The optician was friendly and personable. Unfortunately, the note in my insurance said that I had already used my eyeglass allowance.and was not eligible for a new pair until December. This was a problem with my insurance, and they urged me to call for resolution. So this time I did not choose a new pair, which is always a daunting task to choose from their wide variety of attractive frames. In the past, they've had a lot of patience helping me decide. I took advantage of their fun Photo Booth, which takes 3 shots against a colorful background. Warby Parker is always a pleasant shopping experience. Their eyewear consultants are always helpful, assisting in picking out frames; I'm usually very indecisive and need their expert guidance in choosing the best look. Before I left, Nadia the salesperson offered to clean my glasses (which really needed it!), and they tightened the frames. So I felt like I had a new pair of glasses! read more

I returned to this Warby location on Wednesday, November 12. I came in only planning to get my prescription sunglasses adjusted, but Spencer was more than happy to also do my regular glasses. He was super patient and would go back to fix his work after seeing it on my face. I also picked up a new Parker glasses case because I'm unable to find my previously purchased hot pink one. Spencer pulled out one with the same design as my blue checkered case, but instead it was yellow. I immediately said yes. I started wearing readers about two years ago and decided it was time to invest in a pair that wasn't purchased from CVS. I was shocked at their extensive options. It was almost overwhelming, but what helped was that the glasses were labeled narrow, medium and wide, so I was able to focus on the size that fit me best. I also loved that they have the prices listed, further helping you to stay in your price range. With the help of one of their reps, I chose some funky frames that I fell in love with. I'm so sad to be writing this review. As I have been wearing glasses for 14 years, 10 of those years have been with Warby Parker. I have spent more than $5,000 with this business throughout the years and have never complained. I purchased my most recent pair of glasses in November. They were just a little under $500 (I have really bad eyesight and opt for the thinner lenses). Again, no complaints. I come to this location to get them adjusted every once in awhile - tightened, straightened, whatever. **this has never been a problem** Until today. I walk into the store because my glasses are slightly lopsided. If you have glasses you know the throws off your whole vision lol. I ask for the lady at the counter (short, dark short red hair) to adjust them. When adjusting them she asks if they are fixed and I say "oh this side is a little lower still if you can fix them?" She looks at me and goes "I mean your eyebrows aren't twins so maybe that's the problem." I laugh it off and say sure, but can you try! Then after futzing around with it more she goes "oh" and tells me that one of my hinges are very loose. I did NOT come here with these hinges loose (paraphrasing, she more so said "what did you do to them? These are extremely lopsided and messed up"). These are not my daily wear glasses and are never outside of a case if not on my face. She proceeds to tell me this was my fault and just says "that should be it" when handing them back to me. I chose to take them and walk out at that point, because I was extremely uncomfortable and had been insulted, and my almost $500 pair of glasses damaged. This was insanely rude customer service that I would never expect from WP. This location has lost my business and I will be going to Barron creek or N Lamar instead. Shame. read more

Service is fantastic and every time you come in, the staff is attentive. Even with covid in place, Warby Parker knows how to impress. When covid first started, Warby Parker changed their walk-in sessions to appointment only. The policies have grown a bit more lax, but still tightly sealed. As soon as you arrive, you must use hand sanitizer and are given a tray. Whichever glasses you fancy, you can try them on, and put them in a tray designated to you. The reason why is to ensure every glasses gets thoroughly sanitized. If you are new to Warby Parker, Warby Parker will replace your lenses FOR FREE if you change your prescription AND your glasses were purchased within a year. Even customer service via phone is impressive, and really, how often can you say that?! I once called because I lost a screw on my glasses, and they replaced THE WHOLE thing! Parking is typically a miss, but you're on Soco, so you have plenty of restaurants and things to do and see, which make stopping here worthwhile. read more

I went in with my 2 daughters and my husband for some eye exams and even though my kids can be rowdy she showed the utmost patience. If you're out there shopping for quality glasses on your own, consider stopping by Warby Parker simply because you'll likely find one or more genuine hipster customers there who can help you decide on the frames that look best on you, if you ask nicely :) I needed new sunglasses that fulfilled the following requisites: 1) should block against UVA and UVB radiation, 2) polarized lenses, 3) sufficient coverage to protect skin around eyes, 4) look cool without killing the piggy bank. After those conditions were met, everything else was icing on the cake. Warby Parker on South Congress delivered on all my wants but also provided a sleek and pleasant showroom that oozed atmosphere + personalized service, plus a couple of legit style maven customers who helped me make the right design choice. I was in and out of there in 15 minutes after trying on about 15 frames, having my new frames sized and adjusted to my head, making payment and taking receipt of my gorgeously packaged new shades. Must know: - They have a 30 day return or exchange policy - Location includes a photo booth :) - Warby Parker launched a kids line in January 2018 (AND for every pair of kid's glasses sold, a pair is distributed to a kid in need) - I was there on a Tuesday around noon, so it's a lot busier on weekends - I would have been happy with at least three other Warby Parker designs. read more

Miserable experience. Booked an appointment online and I called the previous week to verify my insurance. I was told by Warby Parker that my insurance was accepted, no problem. I got there, gave my insurance card to some woman with large black glasses, and was told they didn't take my insurance. I told her I had pre-verified my coverage and she acted as if I were trying to pull something off. She made no further effort to verify my insurance, none. She did tell me I could pay out of pocket!!! Of course I left with nothing to show for it. Got home, called my insurance AND Warby Parker, and was told by both that my insurance was accepted there. Glasses selection is great. The staff was friendly. First time getting an eye exam here for the sheer convenience. They don't take insurance but you can get insurance to reimburse you. It only took me three phone calls, five emails, and a few hours over the span of a few days to get someone to send us the receipts for reimbursements. Totally not worth the time or hassle. I'll stick to a regular optician and warby's should just stick to selling glasses. read more

Located in South Congress in Austin, this is a great place to check out glasses, offering a range of styles in different colors, shapes and sunglasses that you can make into prescriptive eyeglasses. We came here to check out glasses, and the store was easy to navigate, as all the different styles are marked. Like all of its stores, the space allows for those to browse and try on the glasses, with mirrors everywhere. They also show the different colors that the pair comes in. Can I also just say how much I love that WB is dog-friendly? In particular, we shopped until after it closed, which we didn't realize until we noticed employees cleaning up and restocking shelves. They even locked up the store, so no one else would enter. But they told us to take our time and didn't mind us still in the store while they were closing down. It was very nice of the employees here to not rush us out, which wouldn't be the case elsewhere. Top-notch customer service here! read more

Instantly greeted by 2 friendly employees. I had my glasses adjusted since they had been bent out of place and were smudged. As I heard this was an alternative to the Luxottica glasses monopoly I had hope this might be a nice alternative. However the frames ranged from $100-$200, and didn't seem much different in price than any other optical store I've been to. Austin is in stage 3 in covid right now, I don't think I saw single mask in there out of maybe 10 employees and 30 customers. The location is in the heart of south congress right next to the continental club, which is an incredibly inconvenient place to park. I was happy that they were open on Sunday until I realized the location and wound up paying $10 for 2 hours of parking to walk about half mile to get in there. Didn't find anything I liked and left an indoor space I am sure had multiple people with covid entering per day in a maskless area. Not impressed. However if you happen to buy glasses on the fly while strolling pedestrian areas or need glasses for before hitting the Continental Club, this could be a good choice. read more

Warby Parker is my hero today.. my daughter (10) lost her glasses over the weekend. Yeah.. parents you feel my pain. So back to the eye doctor and on the trail for new glasses that we BOTH like. That's a challenge, cause mama is more conservative and daughter likes sparkle or unique. We went to 5 stores. Ughhhhhhhh. No dice. A dentist I know in San Antonio is always posting his Warby Parker glasses and he has a ton of them. They always look very stylish, so I decided to give the store a call to find kid glasses. They don't offer kids specifically, but the narrow glasses were a perfect fit for her. We were torn between 2.. she wanted the blue and I wanted the conservative. At $95 a pair total (frames, shipping and lens) we got both. And no worries.. her dad will get half the bill. ;) Love that we found this option for us, and totally makes me wish I wore glasses now. She and Grace quickly figured out how to exchange my glasses and then, Tyler VERY patiently spent the next 45 mins helping me find just what I was looking for. She asked me all the right questions, had deep knowledge regarding eye position, fit, weight, frame width... everything. In fact, there was not a question I asked that even gave Tyler pause. She was great! I love Warby Parker anyhow but my gosh... customer service is brimming with positivity and care! Warby Parker was a disruptive revolutionary when it started, but there are many, many online eyeglass retailers now. If you have a look at eyebuydirect.com, you will realize that WP is actually quite expensive compared to the competition. More importantly, if you check EBD, you'll realize that they offer more selections for frames and more options for lenses, in particular for progressive lenses (several levels of quality, all of which are much less expensive than the $200 that WP charges). EBD is actually owned by Essilor, which is the largest manufacturer of progressive lenses. I haven't had a chance to try EBD's progressives yet, but I can state that WP's progressives leave a lot to be desired. Much too much "swim," and noticeable chromatic aberrations (blue / red fringing along the contours of objects) because of the poor quality of the polycarbonate lens material. I'll be getting a refund and won't be using WP again. read more

I had such a great experience here! I came to the store to fill an eyeglass Rx. What I found was: A super helpful guide finding good frames for my face and lifestyle. A knowledgeable optometrist to ensure the fit, explain the doctor's progressive lens Rx and how to use them. I ordered my glasses and the experience was so nice, I also purchased some polarized non-Rx sunglasses (Downing-Walnut Tortoise with classic grey). All in a beautiful store environment with great frame selection. AND so much less expensive than all of the other stores and brands (which are all owned by Luxottica and the pricing is monopolistic). My polarized sunglasses were $95 plus tax. My Rx lens work frames (Coley-Eastern Bluebird Fade) with progressive lens and anti-scratch coating (warrantied for a year) and an anti-reflective coating were $295 plus tax. Shipping is free. The estimate I got from my Doctor's eye glass store in their lobby for the exact same Rx and coatings and very, very similar frames was $531 plus tax (this included a "discount" since my insurance was only going to cover the lens not the frames.) So let's see--MUCH lower cost, better store environment, knowledgeable guides, professional optometrists, cool frames that people actually want, a warranty, great eyeglass boxes and cleaning cloths. Why go anywhere else? LOVE this store concept and its execution! read more

My contact prescription had expired, and my regular optometrist was out for a couple of weeks, so I made an appointment for an eye exam since they can get you in quick. It was an extremely quick appointment, and I was given a new prescription that was pretty different from the one I received a year ago from my regular optometrist. I thought that was strange so I didn't order new contacts luckily, and I also didn't end up buying a pair of glasses like I had intended to do. I ended up having headaches the rest of the week in the trial contacts they gave me and reading my phone was all blurry which was really strange since I'm nearsighted. I made an appointment with my usual optometrist as soon as he was back in town, and the prescription I got from Warby Parker was in fact pretty off. So I'm out a couple hundred bucks for a bad eye exam, but at least I didn't order new contacts and glasses while I was there. Definitely will not risk my eyes at a place like this again. read more

If Warby Parker were a restaurant, we'd be here all the time. Apparently it's four guys out of Wharton who decided to re-invent the wheel for buying glasses. And they've succeeded. I just don't see how it gets much better than this. Because there are no surprises, gimmicks, add-ons or upcharges here: You pick the frames, give them a prescription, and choose delivery to this SoCo store or wherever you want. The frames I liked - Barnett Toffee Fade - cost $95. The total price I paid - frames, lenses, taxes & fees - was $95. I thought they erred. They didn't. And I chose store delivery, just in case I needed an immediate tweak or something. But once you're in their digital domain, you can do absolutely everything online. Warby Parker has really nailed the best of both worlds here, and I think their vision of the optic future is as good as it gets. And at these prices, maybe even through a pair of Benson Blues too. read more

I thought I was going to be here for well over an hour trying on every single frame and being my normal indecisive self but boy was I wrong. I walked in around 5pm on a week day and it was pretty quiet. I was warmly greeted as soon as I set foot in the store, which is something I appreciate. A young lady approached me and I hate that I forgot her name!! She was awesome and she was wearing roundish tortoise frames that looked really awesome on her. I tried on several pairs and finally found the pair that worked for me! I was probably in and out within 30 minutes and that is including payment, so it sure beats the 2+ hours I intended on carving out for this adventure. Everyone was extremely helpful and they all wanted to see the frames I chose on my face to make sure it got their proper stamp of approval. There was a frame that I liked but didn't look too fabulous on me, and one of the associates told me, "I am not going to let you buy them." HA! It's like shopping with your best friends but ones with actual expertise on the matter! I will say that it is a little warm in the store--I was extremely overheated by the time I left. Unprofessional and unhelpful staff. Appointment was scheduled online for 9:45. Though I had already filled out the intake form, the email advised to be there 10-15 prior the appointment. I was out front of the store at 9:30. The door was locked and the lights off. So, I called the store just in case being the door and their online hours clearly state that they don't open until 10. I walked to a nearby coffeeshop to full-fill my caffeine requirement. I was back at the store a bit before 9:50. Door was still locked and the lights were out. At 10, the staff turned the lights on, unlocked the door, and put the sign out. As I walked in, the staff member made a comment about a patient missing their appointment at 9:45. I stated that I had a 9:45 appointment. She told me I would have to reschedule, made some snarky comments, and then positioned herself behind her deks, not caring less. Didn't offer to reschedule. Didn't offer any help. Just a silent dismissal by focussing her attention on anything but the only customer in the strore. They must have enough customers and couldn't be bothered by more, I suspect. read more

Today...minutes ago. Visiting from SF. Looked at 3 pairs. After looking at one particular sunglasses for 10 minutes was ready to buy. There were plenty of ques for the WP representatives to acknowledge us or at the very least say " I'll be right with you." My wife was also ready to buy prescription glasses - no acknowledgement. As we approached 20 minutes we both decided to leave. The acknowledgment finally came when we headed for the door. "Thanks for coming!" It was a Monday mid afternoon..not that many people in the store. I'll buy my pairs from the San Francisco shop. They're always great. Warby did not have a record of shipping to me, so I should have never have as this issue, been blamed for non-delivery or treated as I was, or had to post on Yelp to get a response.
