After some persuasion, I agreed to have a makeover done during one of the 'ladies' nights' that a friend of mine had organized. Rachel Renna was the makeup artist that they had hired for the evening. It didn't take long for me to figure out that Rachel is no ordinary makeup artist. She is the next big thing (mark my words). She is one of the most talented artists I have ever come across, and that's including all the encounters I've had with makeup artists throughout my TV career. The thing about Rachel is that she just 'gets' her clients' style. She had one look at me and knew exactly what I would love and what I would hate. Above and beyond that, she handles a brush like no one I've met before. The way she builds, the way she blends, the way she shapes brows... OH MY! The truth is, my words cannot do Rachel's talent justice. She is the best there is when it comes to makeup artistry (I've attached the pictures to prove it) and it wont be long before she becomes an industry leader. That might not be a problem to some couples, but it was to us. It actually took awhile for us to find a makeup artist in Toronto who a) didn't have certain demands regarding travel, packages, etc., b) didn't take 5 days to respond to us, c) actually showed genuine compassion and interest in their work and craft, and for their client. I met Daniela a few months before our wedding, and knew she was the one! Out of over 20 makeup artists in Toronto that I contacted, she was the only one who suggested an in-person meeting to talk about my wedding. Honestly, I can't even express how much I appreciated that. She came to our meeting prepared, actually took the time to take notes and understand what I'd be wearing, the look and style I was going for, etc. I knew from the very start that, with Daniela, I was in very good, talented, and responsible hands. And as a bride, trust in your vendor is so key - and I trusted Daniela fully! On our wedding day, Daniela came early and prepared, and was totally unfazed when my mom changed her mind about what she wanted. She is the epitome of creativity, talent, and professionalism. My make-up looked beautiful and I had loads of compliments about it all day. Daniela even gave me my own tube of touch-up gloss to go, so that I could keep myself looking fresh all day. The first reason I chose this school was that I felt the curriculum and the length of the course was most compatible to me. The second reason is that I appreciate transparency. This school clearly listed their rates and their schedule on their website. For some reason, many schools don't post this information online. When I called, I didn't detect any pushy vibes of saccharine sweetness like I've experienced elsewhere before. (My tolerance for that kind of thing has worn thin over the years). No sales pitches here. When I arrived, I was struck by the sincerity and good nature of everyone at the school....literally everyone. This is easy to say because the class size was small. Five students! No over crowdedness and no students struggling to see demos. That's precious. I've been to a much larger school with slicker marketing and appreciate the establishment for what they taught me. This school, however, is closer to my heart because they operate in a way which is not possible for a larger operation. There wasn't as great of a divide between admin and students here and they did not in any way cater to the lowest common denominator by patronizing students with a higher than thou culture. The best part of my course is instructor Shannon Taillon. I've had jaded teachers before and if they still deliver the material, I don't care. Shannon, on the other hand is extremely generous with her time and energy. Imagine that! An instructor who truly cares and goes beyond her job description and does extra things here and there for her students. Shannon is a rare gem. The quality of education I received was of the highest calibre. Additionally, I was impressed with how many volunteer and job opportunities presented to students. I'll end this review now. I'm getting sleepy but I thought I'd post before I get busier. This is a seriously underrated boutique school. I enjoyed my time here so much that I'm sad I only have two days left :( Usually, I can't wait to finish classes. P.S. I just completed an Eastern Bridal Workshop with Rob, the owner of the school. I was hoping to do a workshop like this for so long so I was beyond thrilled Rob was kind enough to offer this during my time at the school. I got my money's worth and more. Rob is a very good teacher because he honestly critiques and presents material in a way that is easy to understand. Like Shannon, he takes time to make sure you understand and execute the techniques properly. If you find yourself at this school, you will also run into Lori-Ann, who works for the school. She has the sweetest disposition and makes the school a nice place to be. When I arrived there a day early for my program, instead of waving me away, she gave me a tour of the school and allowed me to store my materials in closet. It's all the small, kind hearted details in this school which make the experience memorable and mean so much. Even after flight, rent and other traveling expenses, I feel that my education here was a great investemnt. I will miss the school.

The result is so overly warm, it looks dark orange. I was told it would just be a toner and would wash out, but that hasn't happened. Instead of a refreshed balayage, my hair now looks completely different--darker, dull, and way overly brassy. This is not what I asked for, and it has ruined the dimensional color I had. I look sickly with this orange hair and the only option I have is either to bleach my hair again and damage it or darken it to a dark brown with no dimension. Either way I'll be waiting months to a year to start over and get the look I've been working towards. With this, they are not apologetic and don't take accountability. Don't go here!!
