Went out of his way to even help me with delivery as I my truck was broke down. Everyone was very courteous, so I don't know where the other complaints were coming from. My Honda rear bag push mower is around 10 years old and in need of a first tune-up, after reading reviews on Wards I decided to give them a try. I only live about 1 1/2 miles from them, so it was a quick trip to drop it off. After a couple work days they notified me is was completed and ready to pick up. When I got the mower home, I fired it up to check it out. It was not running good at all and would just shut off. I loaded it back up and took it back for them to check out. A couple days later they called and said it was ready. After getting it home I started it on first pull and it now runs like new again ! They said a fuel line had got pinched, shutting off fuel supply. It's great getting my mower running like new for $100 vs purchasing a new one for $500. Thank you Wards ! read more

Stay away from this place, they are a ripoff. Did a tune up on my reel mower and when I got it home it wouldn't run. Took off the filter as to maybe it wasn't getting enough air. The air filter they put on was an old, dirty filter and had the gall to charge me $15 for a brand new one. Took it back and whatever they did to it, screwed it up so bad it reeved at such a high speed it would run for about 10 seconds before conking out. Had to take it to a second place who managed to get it running, but it runs now so slowly it barely cuts the grass. They guy behind the desk has a I don't give a shit attitude. UPDATE: I got the mower back to Ward's today and they quickly replaced the pull string and it started right up. I have to appreciate that they kept at it. Tomorrow will be my first time of actual use and if it consistently starts and runs I will return to update my rating again. ORIGINAL POST (1 star): These guys clearly have NO clue what they're doing. I brought my mower to them for repair. They called me to come pick up the "repaired" mower but when I got there, after charging me $70.00+, they tell me it won't start and need to keep it. Several days later they call again to say it's "repaired" so I pick it up. Today would be my first use and NOTHING. It won't start, which is the exact reason I took it to them to begin with. I can't lift it into my SUV myself so, with lawn LITERALLY to my knees, I have to wait until I can get someone to help me get it into the SUV and BACK TO WARDS to at least get my money back. In these Covid times, I found Ward's "No Mask Unless You Feel Like It" policy to be offensive and disrespectful to customers. While I have no complaints about the actual work performed on my riding mower, I have serious concerns about the choice the employees are allowed to take. No customer should be subjected to this potential deadly (in my case) health illness. I consider Ward's blatant disregard for customers well-being sufficiently disconcerting. Ward's has chosen to remove itself from the list of businesses I support, and they will remain so in the future. read more

Two different experiences here, 6 months apart, and both terrible customer service from the same elderly gentleman. First time there, we wanted more information and to purchase a commercial lawnmower. I walked in, then my fiancé held the door open for someone and they were helped first. (I realize the other customer should have spoken up that we were there first). The employee didn't greet us or say he would be right there to help us. We mulled around for about 10 minutes while he helped the other customer without being greeted. We became fed up, went to Tempe Power Equipment where we helped and purchased a lawnmower. Fast forward 6 months....we needed some spare parts and called ahead to make sure they were in stock, as we live about 30 minutes away. The same man assured us he had the parts, so we rushed over there before they closed only to find out he had the wrong parts. Again, we went back to Tempe Power Equipment, and they rush shipped our parts. We won't be going back to Ward's. Fool us once, shame on you. Fool us twice, shame on us. read more

Dropped off a mower i had left in the rain and they had it back to me the same day. May have been an easy fix but i was relieved to get it back so quickly as at drop off i was quoted with a 3 or 4 day wait. 50 bucks for repair. Lesson learned water and lawnmowers dont mix. read more

I have used Wards to service my lawnmower for several years now. They are very trustworthy. Price are a little high. I'm sure they are competitive. I've never looked anywhere else. And I don't mind paying extra for the knowable staff. I will be purchasing my next mower from Wards. read more

I had the mulching blade break off and get sucked into my leaf blower. It grinded to halt and I was afraid to try to start it again. I dropped it off at Ward's. The guy behind the counter walked me through the repair and gave me some prices of the pieces he could visibly see that needed to be repaired. He was very knowledgeable and answered questions for me. They ordered the replacement parts and had be back up and running quickly. That was 2 months ago. I returned to Ward's today my same leaf blower wasn't running well. I spoke to one of the guys behind the counter. He looked over my leaf blower and noticed that the intake to the carburetor was very dirty. He wiped some off quickly with his finger and started the blower up. He put it through it's paces and it was running well again. Simple fix, done in minutes over the counter. Very knowledgeable and willing to help. I learned a few things I need to do to maintain my blower too. I would recommend these guys to everyone!!!! read more

Our resort is about 35 mins. away, not only did she get them in when she said, she saved us a trip to Gilbert and had them brought to our area for pick up. I dropped off a saw that wouldn't start to see if it could be fixed. The staff there are very polite, engaging, and easy to work with. If this review were based on customer service it would be 5 stars especially for a lawn/power equipment repair shop. Unfortunately, upon having the saw looked at by a technician, the diagnosis was to rebuild the carb and replace the intake. Not an unreasonable idea although I was hoping for something more scientific like a pressure and vacuum test to verify the presence or absence of air leaks throughout the intake, case, etc. The quote for to complete this rebuild and intake replacement was $248. This seemed high to me but what do I know, I'm not a saw expert, which is why I brought it there in the first place, and later why I was extra surprised that I was able to order an $11 carb rebuild kit (40 plus 5 star reviews on amazon), a can of carb cleaner, watch a youtube video, inspect the intake for leaks, and rebuild it myself from start to finish in less than 1 hr. It now runs, idles, and cuts like new. I've had the chance to run it through several cords of hardwood and can confirm it is working appropriately. So what's the point to all of this? A business has to make money. There's nothing wrong with that, but $248 is not a reasonable or fair price. I know the parts they would have used would have cost more due to being bought from the most expensive source possible, but even if they were 4 times the cost($17), that's still $180 in labor for what is, in reality, less than an hour of work for someone who does this all day long. That's more than a doctor, a lawyer, or oh yeah, probably more than the engineer who made the saw, charges per hour. I can afford to do this repair myself every year for the next 14 years before it would be break even to pay $248. I'd recommend Roy's go kart and lawnmower repair as a substitute (located off Country Club and Guadalupe). They're under new ownership, also have a personable staff and have fixed all varieties of lawn equipment over the years for reasonable prices. read more

I took my old Toro to Wards expecting to through it away and buy a new mower. I had taken it to 2 other shops and they said it was fixed but it wasn't. Wards repaired it and gave it new life! It works like a new mower and should last many more years with Wards help!! read more

I took my riding mower into have a jet in the carborator cleaned. I have had this problem before so I knew the jet was clogged. They said they would look at it and call me. I didn't hear from them by email or phone so just over a week I called them to see what the status was. They said it was ready to be picked up. They told me They replaced the carburator and air cleanner, nether of which I agreed to or authorized. When I got down I found that they had to jump start the lawn tractor (because my battery wouldn't hold a charge) It did before I took it there! Once the engine started it wouldn't throtle down and blew black smoke. At this point I demanded my money back. It was NOT in anyway repaired. They said they wanted to try and make it right which I agreed to give them a chance to make it right. Even though they wouldn't give me my money back for the parts. They delived the mower the next day to my house but said it needed a valve job! The engine runs but does not idle at low speed. So because I trusted this business my experiance was I got to pay for parts I didn't authorize, I got a fried battery that I have to replace now,and I have an engine the pops at low speed because of a bad valve that the mower didn't have before I took it to Ward's Lawn-Power Equipment !!!!!!!!!!!!! Basically my mower has been ruien by this "repair place" DO NOT USE THEM!!!!!! read more
