We bought our old stone pile almost 2.5 years ago and discovered during our investigations that the seller who had been in the house for 30+ years had never had a mason do any work. It showed. With the aid of another friend who specialized in masonry restoration, I set out with Steve Preiss to tackle all the issues: stone weathered by too hard portland cement mortar, arch keystones slipping because of mortar washout, rotting window frames and sills because of open cracks where wood met stone. Steve Preiss matched mortar color in every area of house. He's done many distinct projects: a chimney, pointing walls, rebuilding a collapsed dry stack wall, rebuilding entryway piers, rebuilding archways, lots of different pointing of stone (mostly) and brick floor (a little bit). He showed up on time and suggested that I get a couple extra blocks to make it look even better and he wasn't wrong, the price was great and I decided to let him have the job. He came back a day later on time of course and him and his guys went straight to work they broke the concrete up and removed it and graded everything out to the proper depth and swept everything up and waited for the concrete truck. Once the truck came they got right to it, pouring,grading and finishing. They do quality work it's a nice finish, good clean joints and nice crisp edges, when they were done they cleaned up the surrounding sidewalk and street.

Ultimately they suggested it could be a problem with the stones in the wall. Disciple came out, recommended a strategy of replacing a couple of stones, re-pointing the rest of the area and applying sealant over the whole section. Work was scheduled promptly. The guys were very friendly and professional. The job was finished within 10 days (mortar needed to cure before sealant could be applied) and it looks great. Now we have to wait for a horrific rainstorm to see if that solves the problem.

After a week, I called to follow up and was told I'd hear back "later that day or the next." After another week of no contact, I called back again and spoke to a man named Nathan who told me that he would follow up with me (you guessed it) "later that day or the next". Still no call or text. Very frustrating as it's raining a lot lately and we want our external stucco wall repaired before any water damage occurs. I guess maybe they don't need my business? Can't say anything about their work but this customer service experience makes me question their reliability and attention to detail. I cannot praise the job they did highly enough. Roberto and the team arrived promptly and did an AMAZING JOB! They pulled up the bricks along the whole perimeter of the patio, leveled and compacted underneath, re-layed the bricks, weeded, cleaned up and put in polymeric sand to prevent new weed growth. The quite he gave me was literally $1000 below other companies estimates. The day of the demolition he showed up with his crew and said hello and promptly went to work on the steps. The next day was rained out but the following day he was here bright and early and started working on the cement part of the job. When the job was done they did a great job of cleaning up and making sure everything was just how I had it before. He told me that it would take 2 days and sure enough that what it took. My patio developed cracks, it discolored, but Vince promised me he'd fix it when the weather was warmer and that he'd apply a coat of glaze. We believed him (we'd had that good experience, right?) and had him do a patio extension for us when it got warmer. That's when the wheels came off the bus. The two surfaces are side by side, but he made the new patio white - which didn't match the old one. He still hadn't done a glaze, but now he had to power wash first. His crew didn't move some of the furniture on the patio - they just kind of went around it - and they left large areas still showing lots of dirt. Vince convinced us we should just go ahead and glaze it because it would cover everything. They applied the glaze over the still-dirty patios. Whatever it was they used for a glaze was so slick that even our dogs couldn't walk without sliding. Vince came out, looked at everything and promised to come back and make everything right. That was last winter. I'm looking into small claims court.
